2. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?
My target audience
Age – 16-30 years old
Gender – Males and Females but the magazine is predominantly
aimed at males
Social Class – My magazine appeals to many different social groups
but it is targeted predominantly at lower middle class and working
class people.
Ethnicity – My magazine will appeal to most people and I don’t think
that it will appeal to one ethnicity inparticular.
3. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?
The cover lines that are on the header of
my front cover to appeal to the target
audience as some of them would want
reviews in the magazine. The cover lines
‘2013 Review’ and ‘Your Top 10 Albums of
the Year’ are both for features in the
magazine that are reviewing something to
do with music.
My cover lines were used to attract the
target audience to the magazine. Words
such as ‘Revealed’ and ‘Exclusive’ are
used to show that what is being offered
in the magazine is new and it offers the
most recent news in the music industry.
Front Cover
The title and the font that I chose for
the title were chosen because I felt
that they would appeal to the target
audience. The name ‘ Urban was
specifically chosen as I felt that it
would appeal to the lower middle
class and working class members of
the target audience.
I felt that the font that I used on the
masthead was appropriate and would
appeal to the target audience because it is
distorted and cracked and is off some kind
of urban background which relates to both
the title and the target audience. The title is
also quite big and bold which makes it
stand out on the cover which is also done
by a lot of music magazines.
The cover lines on the right hand
side of the cover were used to
appeal a lot to the target audience.
The writing in the yellow all relates
to the artists who’s names are
written in the white. By doing this
with the cover lines they will appeal
to the target audience as they are
artists that they will recognise.
4. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?
I chose this font for the word ‘Contents’
as I thought that, like the title on the
cover, it would appeal to the target
audience. The font looks cracked and I
felt that this related to the urban look of
the magazine.
I used these photos because I wanted to
use people who could possibly be
involved in the genre of rap/hip-hop. I
chose to have 2 photos on the contents
page so that I could show more detail
about the features of the magazine.

5. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?
The title on the double page spread is
quite big and I did this to make it stand
out to the target audience. For the writing
below the title I chose a font that had
newspaper writhing in the background to
relate to the quote that says “He has just
came onto the music scene but everybody
is talking about AnnandW.
I decided to have a big picture of
the artist on the left as I felt that it
would stand out and grab the
readers attention. The artist in the
photo is looking towards the
camera and I decided to do this as
I felt that this would also help to
grab the readers attention.
Double Page Spread
The 2 pull quotes on the double
page spread were both used to grab
the readers attention. Both of them
are pull quotes that tell you more
about the article and the artist that it
is about.
