Evaluation of my Preliminary Task
What went well?
The genre and impressiongiventothe audience isconsistentthroughoutandthiswasa necessityfor
me because if the feel of the filmslipsthenthatiswhere issuesarise. The range of differentcamera
shotsI usedduring helpedmyfilmtonotbore the audience withthe same shotoverandover.I
placedemphasisonthe cleardifference betweenthe twocharactersinvolved.The highrankingman
at the topof the chainbeingdressedinasuitas opposedtothe bottomof the chain nobody,
dressedina hoodie andtracksuittrousers. Therefore whenthe audience seesthe twocharacters
there isa clear distinction/hierarchybetweenthe twoof them. Ibelieve Imade agood choice of
actors for myprelimtask. The two actor playedtheircharacterswell andtheirpositionsinthe film
were obvious.
What could be improved?
Afterthe firstviewing,Idecidedtoshortenthe lengthof the drivingscene inthe firsthalf of myfilm.
Thiswas because itisnot a keypart of the filmandit couldbegintobore the audience.Aswell as
this,I hada shotat the endof the filmwhere I(the shooter) walksawayfromthe scene withthe
drugsand the money.Thisgotcut off so the filmjustendedstraightafterthe gunshot/muzzle flash.
Havingsaidthat, I couldhave cut it evenshorterbynotleavingaslongas gap betweenthe muzzle
flashandthe end.Althoughthisgapstill isn’tverylongatall,itwouldhave beenbetterhaditbeen
less.
What to change for the future:
In the future andin anyfuture filmsIwill make,Ineedtothinkmore aboutwhat affectmyshots
have and especiallythe timingsof them.If Ishot istoo longandwill bore the audience thenIneed
to change it.If a shot lacks affectthenI mustalterit. My final filmneedstobe the bestitcan be and
affectandtimings,alongwithshotsandactors are pivotal tothat.
