Our music video was inspired by 1980s synthpop music videos like RuPaul's "Supermodel" and Yazoo's "The Other Side of Love". It uses conventions from viral videos like jump cuts, repetition of shots, and filming in recognizable locations. The video tells a story through dream-like sequences and symbolic imagery of the main character's insecurities about her body image and seeking perfection. It aims to reveal modern teenage girls' feelings of inadequacy and how looks influence respect.

11. Dominatehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2wrU2tkl38 The over the top movements and dramatised expressions of our music video were created through the inspiration of Rupaul’s Supermodel music video. From this music video we could establish a lot of cross cutting and jump cuts. We also used this method in splicing together the action sequence, being able to remove the motion to develop static imaging as a whole piece of movement. This was very important to out finished piece. Here we recreated the scene where rupaul was being photographed in his video. Instead of having been photographed in a more modern style, we thought it would be best to carry on with the extravagance of it all, and have me standing on top of the moving car.
12. YAZOO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uP1UQDnpy4k Yazoo’s video – ‘The Other Side Of Love’ A scene directly influenced by Yazoo’s video was the ‘dancing scene’ It was chosen against putting a black dress on the main character as it would extract from her personality and shall we say ‘loud’ being. We wanted to embellish the same dominate self being of Alison Moyett in her video, by controlling the man, and taking the lead. The black dress on Alison Moyett, redeems herself from being sexualised, along with the short hair being a statement of going against common stereotyping. In this scene, we wanted to create verisimilitude, of a real life scenario. We wanted to make it as real as possible by shooting in real life locations.
15. Opening sequence From the get go, we wanted our video to create a sense of verisimilitude. In the shot we have created the sense of realism, soap and hand towels are there as if she has just washed her hands. The unbuttoned nurse’s blouse allows the audience to visualize with her large chest. This shot is part of a montage, a series of action shots and the notion of the Nurse washing her hands then oddly putting on gloves. This gives a sense of stupidity and allows the audience to see a less serious attitude of the Nurse. From this shot, we cannot see the Nurse’s face, this plays on for a few seconds. This provides a sense of secrecy or anonymity as the audience cannot put a face to the figure. The Nurse comes across as shallow as she compares the size of her breast to others. We now see a face to the body, and the expression certainly lives up to the humorous side of things.
16.
17. ..... Rave sequence We wanted to act out the characters emotion in order to give the audience their own voyeuristic look upon our video. We wanted them to have their own interpretation, the movement and images as one, and the music as another. As I said earlier we done this by withholding the mimed vocals from the ‘rave’ dance. This is where our hidden message is revealed: - Do teenage girls feel inadequate because they haven't got big breasts, and that the initial thought is, do better looks provide respect?
18. Slow motion - chest wiggle This certain shot, points to the slow motion movement of the woman's breasts. This can indicate female independence and also can connotate female sexuality and confidence within her self being.
19. Another familiar location The supermarket presents the perfection of manufactured goods and the verisimilitudes – the melons represent the female upper body ‘breast’ The melons are a hidden indication of perfection – roundness and size. By the looks of things the female still seeks for better and larger, with the indication of holding up the melons to her chest. The melon walk I think creates a symbolic in the music video as it allows the audience to develop and interpretate with the moving image.
20. The Lady With The Tutti Frutti Hat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVvf2wRhh9k&feature=fvst We wanted to re-create the iconic fashion choice from a famous viral video, The lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat. We developed the convention with the expression of holding the pineapple to her head, this indicates an effects the lady with the Tutti Frutti Hat had on use and how we were influenced in turning this scene into a parody more than developing and modernising the original viral video – The Tutti Frutti Hat.
21. Conclusion From this slide, it is clearly portrayed that our music video emphases a teenage girls inner worries of peer pressure and also her image. Having insecurities with your body image is worldwide, due to celebrities and the media!
