2. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM
YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
The praise we received from our group feedback mainly said that they audience really liked our music that went with our
trailer, coincidently we found music that also was called “delirium” we chose this because it built suspense and had a
crescendo effect to it, as well as supplying a jump scare noise. Another praise we received was that the gore effects were
popular, we used a blood bag for a neck wound within our trailer and our group thought it worked well. The audience liked
the jump scare, some liked the last one where Anna is jabbing a knife to the camera and is least suspected due to having
one before it. We decided on a double jump scare so that the audience will not expect the last one and found that it
worked on scaring our audience.
The criticism we received was that they thought it could be a little shorter, we also agreed on this, however found it
difficult to choose what scenes to cut. That was the majority of criticisms being on cutting scenes shorter, one even said on
making the insane scenes faster. On average, we received a score of eight, having two tens amongst them. I am quite happy
with this score, and happy with the comments finding them to be what our group had wanted a reaction from them.
3. The last minute changes we made after the focus group was to make our trailer shorter, which
was the main criticism we were given and decided to act upon this. We did this by cutting
scenes such as the opening scene to make it shorter and to make some the insane scenes of us
three girls at a quicker pace to make it more eerie. I think the changes we made have helped as
it makes it more fluent and of quicker pace to engage the audience’s attention so that they
enjoy it more.
4. For our evaluation screening, I was happy with what we received, however it was less than what we received
for our rough-cut trailer focus screening. We had received two tens however within our results. We received
a lot of positive feedback and was very little criticism to what we have received last time showing that we
had worked over the negative aspects correctly and efficiently. I think it would appeal to our target audience
of our sub-genre, as be hand of choosing our trailer idea, a pie chart was made of the class’s favourite horror
genres and psychological was found to be the most popular. This shows within our focus group feedback as
we had mainly positive results some saying on how good the acting was and how the plot as different and
enjoyable. The negative aspects were helpful to consider how to improve our trailer.
5. My favourite aspect of the trailer was doing the neck-slicing scene, as I had to hold a blood pack up to my
throat and squeeze it to appear as though I was dying. I found this rather enjoyable to film even though I
did find it cold and it did soak my clothing underneath the jacket. I also enjoyed editing the trailer, as it
was a nice feeling to when it was successful after working hard on this project. I liked the music from our
trailer as well as the monster character as it was eerie and worked with our horror conventions. We tried
to link this with Evil Dead (2013) as we liked the fast paced scenes, we even found that in the final cut it
was around the same length of this trailer being just over two minutes. Overall, I enjoyed the aspects of
cinematography, editing, lighting and mise-en-scene aspects of our trailer and making our horror trailer in
general.
