Evaluation of the Preliminary
            Task
What have you learnt about planning?
          (Ideas, research, mise-en-scene)
• I learnt that deciding on which idea to choose out of illegal downloading
and anti smoking was quite a difficult choice so it had to be a group
decision. We went through something called a Pitch Process where
everyone from the group had to come up with an idea and share it with
the rest of the group. Our group wasn’t very successful in this
process, instead we just sat in a group and came up with our idea
collectively. We decided that the anti smoking film was a unanimous
decision very group member chose this film. I think this would be a good
way to go about choosing the film in the main task because its fair and
worked well but we will try the Pitch Process to see if it was successful
again. For our film we had to research which target audience would be
most suitable for my group to film for. We found out that this was people
our age so made our script relate to our age group.
What have you learnt about using equipment?

             Camera Sound
• We were taught how to use • Sound was a bit more
the camera before we had complicated. We were
to start filming. We learnt taught how to attach the
how to set up the camera boom to the camera so we
on the tripod and on the
dolly. We learnt how to could maximise the sound
record, take pictures, zoom coming out of it. When
in and out basically editing we could alter the
everything we needed to sound to make it higher or
know to make filming as lower or to cut it out
  smooth as possible. completely.
What did you learn about editing?

• We edited our film using the Mac computers on a
programme on the computer called Final Cut. We
were taught how to edit our film and how to
make it shorter by cutting out the unnecessary
parts of it we didn’t need. We also learnt how to
control the sound part of the film and the image
part separately because sometimes we needed to
cut some of the image and keep the sound and
vice versa. In some cases we also had to add text
to our film so were taught how to do so on Final
  Cut.
What did you learn about linking theory to practice?
(Textual analysis and making your own product)

• I thought our product turned out well
considering it was the groups first time using
equipment such as complex camera’s and the
sound boom independently. I believe it turned
out quite well because we worked as a team
even though it took us long to get our filming
started because our planning process wasn’t
  the right one.
