- 2. Large text for the name of the magazine, making it stand out and easy to find when wanting to buy it. The band photos are black and white but for my front cover I edited the photo to make the people stand out. I did this by leaving them in their normal colour and then putting them against the black and white. Large text for the band names to make people want to read about it meaning they will buy the magazine. The smaller text is other details or information which both magazines include, and tells you what else will be inside.
- 3. The magazine’s name ‘SOUND’ is obvious to what the magazine will be based on, which means the social group would most likely be people who are into music, especially the ‘Indie’ category. The band ‘Cherry and the Carnage’ is made up of two girls which do music that appeals to the young – middle social groups. I think the magazine as a whole, looks as thought it’s directed at a teen- middle aged people. Younger people wouldn’t really be into the type of music it includes and older people quite a lot of the time, enjoy music from years ago, if not, then music by older bands.
- 4. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? The types of media institutions that I think would distribute my magazine, would be: • Social network sites, e.g. Twitter, Facebook • possibly a few game sites that would attract the online gamers who are into Indie music. • Particular TV channels • Radio stations that play a lot of the same type of music as my magazine is based on, or at least the music that comes out nowadays. I think these institutions would distribute my magazine as they are most likely to have the same audience listening/watching as to who would like to buy the magazine.
- 5. Who would be the audience for your media product. I would say my music magazine’s audience would be the teen-middle aged people who are into their music, especially Indie, and like to know facts, gossip and stuff about their favourite artists. I say this because the band ‘Cherry and the Carnage’ is Indie music and for the magazine I made, the band has taken a big part, especially on the front cover. Indie music fans would either know of the band or know similar bands so if they saw gossip, news, information etc, on bands they know in a magazine, they would most likely want to read it, and therefore buy it. The audience would also be people who are into competitions and like going to concerts, as the magazine includes those sort of things as well.
- 6. How did you attract/address your audience. To attract the audience, I made sure there were pictures, large text and colour involved in the cover. The front cover has one photo but I made it fill the majority of the page so people would immediately be able to see who the image is of. The magazine’s name ‘SOUND’ and also the bands name ‘Cherry and the Carnage’, is in large text to help grab the eye of the audience so that they can see what magazine it is and what will be included clearly. I also included some colour and although it isn’t bright colours all over, it isn’t dull, dark and boring either. The text I put on the front cover was to help make the audience want to buy and read what’s inside. Things such as ‘EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW’ will hopefully make fans or readers want to read what the band has to say. Also by including a quote or two from the interview will show what sort of things are said in the interview and can be gossip, statements, the truth about something in which the audience will also want to find out about.
- 7. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product. I have learnt how to be more creative whilst using a computer to create something. Having to use Photoshop quite often to edit certain parts of the construction, has made me realise how much work actually goes into these sort of media products. I had to take my own images and edit them in certain ways so they were how I wanted them for the magazine e.g. Putting someone from one photo into another photo they weren’t originally in. I found being able to do this technique actually helped me do quite a lot of the other parts within the construction. I’ve also learnt that not everything goes how you want it on a computer, so I’ve had to change my ideas or do them in different ways to get things done. E.g. The layout of one of the pages in my magazine had to change as it wouldn’t go as planned.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product I think my preliminary task was quite basic and didn’t have as much creativity involved, where as my full product has more pages and a lot more topics included within it. For the preliminary task, I wasn’t actually sure on where it was heading and didn’t find it turned out as successful as it could of. I’ve also learnt more techniques and been able to think of more ideas to include throughout the magazine. Even though I've used the same or similar programs to create each task, I found I knew what I was doing more by the time I was constructing the full product. How hard it is to stick to the plan is also something I've learned, as an idea is easily forgotten, changed or won’t work. This meant I needed to come up with something new or a way of making the idea work, which was quite hard and stressful at times.
