- 2. My media product uses the convention of a large masthead this makes it easy for the reader to be able to tell what it is straight away. A large image used for the main topic to stand out against everything else on the magazine. Big font for the band names so people can see straight away what band is appearing in the issue. Other information kept in a smaller font, quotes used and colour scheme kept the same throughout the front cover.
- 3. My media product represents the ‘indie’ social group. I made sure that everything included in the magazine would fit the indie/alternative stereotype. Its aimed at mainly teens and young adults, this age range of people would be very social and most likely be very into music. They would be part of little subcultures that go out and enjoy music, bands in the particular indie category would be the ones they go and see the most, so my magazine involves a lot of band and concert coverage and tried to include things that these type of people would be interested in. I used colours that are suitable for the indie/alternative style and in the pictures that were taken for the magazine, I made sure correct clothing was worn that also followed the indie style.

Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter may distribute my media product, these are two very popular sites and a lot of people that are a part of these would be interested in my type of magazine. Another media institution that may distribute my product is television and indie music channels, the people that watch these particular channels are going to be a fan of indie music and hopefully my magazine. Also radio stations that play indie music such as NME radio or XFM would be able to distribute my product because the people that tune into these radio stations would be interested in my magazine.
- 5. The audience for my media product would be both boys and girls that age around the ages between 15-25 and maybe older. They would be people that like listening to music, especially indie and alternative, and enjoy going to gigs and concerts and people that follow up, keep track and like to know what their favourite bands and artists are getting up to. The band ‘cherry and the carnage’ that I came up with and used in my magazine consists of two young adult girls that for the readers, would be very easy for people to relate to, using people, stories and articles like this will gain interest and popularity for my magazine.

I have used software that I wouldn’t usually use, such as Photoshop which helped a lot during the process of making my media product, it helped me to be more creative and edit certain parts while constructing my magazine. The photos in my magazine were self taken and Photoshop helped a lot when editing them. Microsoft office, such as word was used a lot while making my magazine, I have used this before but it proved to be difficult to use at some parts during the making of my magazine because things didn't always go the way I wanted it to go and had to either re start or change my initial ideas. I’ve also learnt how to set up and run a blog, as every time I finished a part of my magazine I would have to upload it to a blog.
- 8. Looking back at my preliminary task I can see that I have improved loads in the progression to the full finished product. Its gone from very basic to much more detailed and creative. This has been achieved through learning new and more advanced techniques. My preliminary task was nowhere near as successful as my final product. While making my final magazine I had more knowledge and knew what I wanted it to turn out like I was also able to think up many more creative ideas unlike the first time round. Similar if not the same programmes were used while completing both tasks but I still feel that the preliminary task wasn't as successful as the final product. Although the final task was a lot better than the preliminary, I have learnt that it can be quite stressful almost as things don't always go as planned and quite a few changes might have to be made throughout the process of completion.
