PDW for ambassadors etwinning teams Athens

Micro promo events in Italy run by eTwinning ambassadors saw 120 events held with over 6,000 participants. The idea began in 2012 with informal "Teas with eTwinning" to promote the program. Events saw a mix of presentations, workshops and social activities increase registrations by 150% in May 2013. Common features included combining information with social activities targeting various groups. Events were organized by individual ambassadors and saw success through ease of organizing, peer learning and no costs. Two example events highlighted different formats including one in a school and one between neighboring schools.

VLARINA - An eTwinning project 2012-13 (Greece-Serbia-Italy)
The Students participating in this project had the opportunity to meet fellow mates from other European (Mediterranean) countries and communicate with them via e-mail or via instant messaging. They developed friendly relations with each other and shared details about their daily lives, traditions, cultures, perceptions, ideas, lifestyle.Establishing a common point of view of the past, students explored how the Mediterranean Sea is still the bridge between different cultures and religions.
All students developed their English language vocabulary and skills. They also developed their intercultural skills, exchanged ideas, gifts and postcards and also made use of a variety of resources in order to upload powerpoint presentations, documents, files and images about their countries on twinspace.
Last but not least students familiarised themselves with working in a virtual environment, identified and discussed the challenges they face living and working in them. The most important thing is that they made new friends and they gained insights from online school collaborations which will be valuable and worth remembering a life time.

- 1. ETWINNING ACTIVITY Valentina Lamaj Qemal Stafa High School
- 2. Workshop ◦ My idea of the activity to welcome newcomers and to wake up “sleeping beauties” is by holding a workshop. Lately, Workshops are becoming the best way to share information and to have fun. I have noticed that teens nowadays enjoy being part of these activities to gain experience and to learn more about environmental and social issues that our community has, but that we can make a little change to them by getting knowledge. Instead of being focused on other issues we are promoting eTwinning to new members but also encouraging old members to become more active this year by implementing their own eTwinning projects.
- 4. In the beginning we are going to hand out leaflets to the students and teachers around the school. We are also going to attach the event’s posters on our eTwinning corner.
- 5. The workshop will begin with a brief presentation about eTwinning platform, Twinspace and our school’s eTwinning projects which I am going to present.
- 6. Workshop activities ◦ After the presentation, we are going to have some icebreakers so the students and the teachers can get more comfortable around each other but also become more excited about eTwinning projects as an extracurricular “subject”.
- 7. ◦ Then the “veteran” students will show their experiences throughout their whole year with eTwinning projects such as Consume less, create more ; STEM in life ; Treasure of wisdom ; We learn online through projects, etc. Disclaimer: This activity has been held before Covid-19
- 8. Awaking sleeping teachers ◦ The teachers under my mentoring and guidance will get help for their upcoming eTwinning projects but also awaken them to interact more efficiently this year! They will get trained on how to use Twinspace platform and manage students to become part of projects.
- 9. Finally, we’ll present a tutorial video of Twinspace and every student and teacher that were part of the workshop open their accounts !
