Embarking on building a modern data warehouse in the cloud can be an overwhelming experience due to the sheer number of products that can be used, especially when the use cases for many products overlap others. In this talk I will cover the use cases of many of the Microsoft products that you can use when building a modern data warehouse, broken down into four areas: ingest, store, prep, and model & serve. It’s a complicated story that I will try to simplify, giving blunt opinions of when to use what products and the pros/cons of each.
This presenation explains basics of ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) concept in relation to such data solutions as data warehousing, data migration, or data integration. CloverETL is presented closely as an example of enterprise ETL tool. It also covers typical phases of data integration projects.
The Data Warehouse (DW) is considered as a collection of integrated, detailed, historical data, collected from different sources . DW is used to collect data designed to support management decision making. There are so many approaches in designing a data warehouse both in conceptual and logical design phases. The conceptual design approaches are dimensional fact model, multidimensional E/R model, starER model and object-oriented multidimensional model. And the logical design approaches are flat schema, star schema, fact constellation schema, galaxy schema and snowflake schema. In this paper we have focused on comparison of Dimensional Modelling AND E-R modelling in the Data Warehouse. Dimensional Modelling (DM) is most popular technique in data warehousing. In DM a model of tables and relations is used to optimize decision support query performance in relational databases. And conventional E-R models are used to remove redundancy in the data model, facilitate retrieval of individual records having certain critical identifiers, and optimize On-line Transaction Processing (OLTP) performance.
An overview of the different sets of functionality of Tableau solution suite, and how it can address the many facets of a comprehensive data mining solution.
Pentaho Data Integration. Preparing and blending data from any source for analytics. Thus, enabling data-driven decision making. Application for education, specially, academic and learning analytics.
The process of extracting data from source systems and bringing it into the data warehouse is commonly called ETL, which stands for extraction, transformation, and loading.

The process of extracting data from source systems and bringing it into the data warehouse is commonly called ETL, which stands for extraction, transformation, and loading.
The process of data warehousing is undergoing rapidtransformation, giving rise to various new terminologies, especially due to theshift from the traditional ETL to the new ELT. Forsomeone new to the process, these additional terminologies and abbreviationsmight seem overwhelming, some may even ask, “Why does it matter if the L comesbefore the T?”
The answer lies in the infrastructure and the setup. Here iswhat the fuss is all about, the sequencing of the words and more importantly, why you should be shifting from ETL to ELT.

In the increase in the modern digital world, the need for data has increased exponentially.
Organizations these days are engaged in collecting, organizing, and processing millions of
raw data inputs and transforming them into valuable pieces of information while minimizing
the chances of data breaches. Adequate data processes boost an organization’s profit upto 8-
10%. The sudden explosion of the data has put a greater strain on the data
warehouse architecture. Every day, organizations engage in different types of large-volume
data, such as sensors, social media, customer behavior, and big data, making the process even more difficult.
Learn the fundamentals of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and the innovative concept of Zero ETL in data integration. Explore how traditional ETL processes handle data extraction, transformation, and loading, and discover the streamlined approach of Zero ETL, minimising complexities and optimising data workflows.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

2. ETL Metadata Injection 2
David Fombella Pombal
BI Consultant, Technical Developmental Editor and
Pentaho Community Guy
About me
3. ETL Metadata Injection 3
Introduction
•The ETL Metadata Injection step is capable of injecting
step metadata into a template transformation. So
instead of statically entering ETL metadata in a step
dialog, you pass it at run-time. It is possible to solve
repetitive ETL workloads like loading of text files, data
migration and so on.
4. ETL Metadata Injection 4
Problem description
•We need to load cost files containing a dynamic header
•Budget files contain 12 months information
•Forecast files contain between 1 and 12 months
•3 fixed columns containing Entity, Account and Cost Centre
12. ETL Metadata Injection 12
Non-Native Metadata Injection
Metadata Injection is one of the single most powerful
features of PDI. However it only some steps support it. But
as PDI has 100s of steps, more being added weekly, there’s
always going to be a scenario where the step you want to
Inject doesn't support it.
So what do you do? Use the API. The API is how PDI itself
sets the metadata for a step.
So the steps are:
1. Open the transformation file
2. Find the step(s) we want to change
3. Configure it accordingly
4. Save the file
