Western Desert Art Analysis
This last winter I was lucky enough to have the chance to spend more than a month in New South
Wales, Australia. All around the cities in New South Wales I saw many pieces of art that I found
absolutely fascinating. All of these paintings seemed so simple, but the more I learned about them I
realized there was lot of history in these paintings. The Style I became most interested in was the
Western Desert Art, how it is evolving, the many emerging styles of it, and its many collections.
This art movement emerged from the Aboriginal settlement of Papunya in the Northern Territory of
Australiain the early 1970s. In 1971 the art teacher posted in the village Geoffrey Bardon,
encouraged some of his traditional artists to paint a blank wall. This

Short Story Monologue
Despite the speed demons driving, I had a fantastic time with my new friends. After exerting our
energy from walking around the mall, we stopped for a late lunch, before watching a movie
together, and headed back home. John invited me back to his apartment, yet I felt apprehensive
at the idea of being alone with him in his domain. Thank you, once again for taking me, I say as I
exit the car. Thanks for coming out with us, says Patsy. This time, I wait by the building door
and wave them goodbye before heading inside. As I skip my way up the stairs, ready to recap my
day to Alice, my phone shrills, causing me to pause just before my front door to retrieve it. Hey,
Alice. Hi Eva, I m just calling to let you know I won t be home... Show more content on

As I glance over to Alice s door, the urge to open and slam it closed again surges through me.
However, it dissipates soon after, leaving Alice s door intact. Invisible bands tighten around my
chest, making it impossible to breathe, I become dizzy from hyperventilating, I need to leave the
apartment, somewhat regretting John s invitation. As I manage to calm myself, allowing my
thoughts to run clearer, I realise the stupidity of spending the evening with John, enduring his
lingering stares, considering I m far from ready to attempt a relationship with anyone right now,
what with my wretched heart set on Angelo. Inside my bedroom, I remove my winter
accessories and leather coat, tossing them on the bed beside my bag and phone, and peer into
my washing basket. There isn t much in there, not enough for a full load, nevertheless, it will
take my mind off of Alice and Angelo for a while. I heft my washing basket and head down to the
basement where the washers and dryers live. No one knows who began the rule, nevertheless, the
unwritten rule is for everyone in the building to add money to the kitty for the machine s service
and purchase of the washing powder and dryer sheets. I plunge my hand into my jeans pocket and
dig out the loose change hidden within. Seventy one cents, not much, but at least it s something.
The cool, dimly lit basement remains just as neglected as the rest of the building. Cobwebs, long
since abandoned by

Brown Sugar Compare And Contrast
Coconut sugar looks a lot like brown sugar and the two are often considered interchangeable, but
are they? The answer is not as clear cut as you might think. Below, we will take a look at the
flavors of these two sugars and consider how well they work as substitutes for each other. How
do the flavor of coconut sugar and the flavor of brown sugar differ? These sugars come from two
completely different sources but are still similar in terms of their chemical makeup. When
considering the taste of coconut sugar s taste, it is important to note that it does not taste like
coconut any more than beet sugar tastes like beets. It is taken from the buds of the coconut tree,
not from the coconut itself. Sap from the buds is processed using methods similar to those used
for converting maple syrup to maple sugar. It does taste similar to brown sugar and provides
very mild caramel notes. Brown sugar is simply granulated white sugar with added molasses for
color and a mild flavor. Because molasses is used, brown sugar has a moister and stickier texture
when compared to that of coconut sugar. It is usually made from sugar cane, but it can be made
from sugar beets. What you will get from it in terms of taste is sweetness accompanied the deep...

Some bakers have found that because of its softer texture, coconut sugar does not blend as well
with butter as brown sugar does. This results in some pastries turning out dry or overly dense.
The grains also tend to be coarser than those of brown sugar, which can lead to speckling and a
more porous texture in some baked goods. You can compensate for the dryness by adding extra
butter and you can prevent the speckling and texture issues by grinding the sugar in a food
processor or blender. In applications where it is melted or sprinkled, coconut sugar is virtually
identical to brown

Emancipation from Damaging Early Years
While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in
emancipating yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in
which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories
often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose.
Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well
as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol
abuse in the child s presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child
must make the difficult choiceat a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the
cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the
latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen
in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain
wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents s, the next
step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. In
this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the first day of
kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things. Some
preschools offer private daycares for gifted or highly

The Greatest Generation Of The World War II Essay
Many of the Greatest Generations core values have been challenged by later generations due to
changes in the economy, politics, war, social equality, technology, and the family structure. The
Greatest Generation, a name that journalist Tom Brokaw popularized, refers to the generation that
grew up during the Great Depression, served during World War II, and then worked hard and
prospered after the War. The Greatest Generation believed in following rules and not questioning
authority, focusing on the nuclear family, being patriotic, working hard, saving money and owning
a house. These tenets have evolved during the last fifty years for better and for worse. The
traditional values of the Greatest Generation taught them to respect law and order, follow the rules,
and be patriotic. That generation did not question the reasons behind fighting in World War II.
During that time, Americans sacrificed everything, from sugar to death of loved ones, all in the
name of patriotism and America being the greatest power in the World. Supporting America s war
went from becoming a duty to optional in later generations. Observing the casualties of war and
questioning the reason for entering war, later generations challenged the United States military
presence in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The Greatest Generation also did not challenge racism,
as the Baby Boomers did that were born after World War II. The Baby Boomers protested,
peacefully and violently, to bring about changes

New Media Art With Its Intrinsic Characteristics
Crowdsourced Documentation New media art with its intrinsic characteristics (instability and
variability)[1] poses complex challenges in documentation, this observation is not new, and
initiatives such as DOCAM[2] and Variable Media Network[3] have provided methods and tools to
properly document media artworks. Nevertheless, the social phenomena of crowdsourcing and
crowdfunding, presents new challenges for established documentation methods and standards. This
essay aims to address this subject by referencing recent exhibition and art practice frequently
involve public participation and interaction, taking an in depth look at current theoretical, practical,
and institutional documentation model, examining crowdsourced documentation as a valid source
created by various contributors, can be incorporated as part of formal documentation. September

Voting System Of A Democratic Government
One of the most significant parts of a democratic government is how the population of the country
selects the people that will represent them in the government. The voting system that a country uses
has a substantial impact on how the government of that country is run, and how well the concerns
of the electorate are addressed. There are many important factors to weigh when selecting a voting
system, but an efficient votingsystem needs to consistently address a few key issues. These include
producing a government that represents the electorate s political views as closely as possible,
preventing gerrymandering, and preventing two party rule. What voting system best accomplishes
all of these conditions, and could be implemented for use in the United States? There are three
voting systems that this essay will cover; these are first past the post (FPTP), the instant runoff, and
mixed member proportional representation(MMP). First past the post (FPTP) is the voting system
that is currently used in the United States. This voting system works by giving each citizen in the
electorate one vote to choose the candidate that they feel is the best option. FPTP has many
disadvantages when compared to the instant runoff and MMP voting systems. For instance, FPTP
does not meet any of the above criteria for an efficient voting system. FPTP does not always
produce a government that best represents the political views of the electorate. In some cases FPTP
has produced results where the

Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet s Death
Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 14th century.
It is a beautiful tragedy about two star crossed lovers and their journey together despite their
feuding families protests. As a result of said feud, both Romeo and Juliet ended their lives, as a
result of thinking that the other was dead. If we take this kind of situation and put it into the
modern world, someone would be blamed for these tragic deaths. The only question is who.
Their parents are to blame the Montagues and the Capulets. Of course, to craft your opinion on
this topic, you must first understand the fictional background of the Montagues and the Capulets.
Although the play doesn t offer a backstory, readers can easily see how much tension there is
between the two families. They acknowledge it too, but most of the evidence for my conclusion
comes from characters other than the Capulet and Montague head of households. Verona, where
this play takes place, has a prince that notices all the conflict going on between the families. He
says, right after a fight scene from which Tybalt (a Capulet) and Mercutio (a Montague) emerge
dead, Romeo slew him; he slew Mercutio. Who now the price of his dear blood doth owe?
(3.1.175 176.) The prince is pretty much fed up with the fighting between the Montagues and the
Capulets. After this scene, readers of Romeo and Juliet can safely infer that the death of a
Montague and the death of a Capulet will not be the last. There did not

The Ten Bsw Program Competencies Help Student Students...
The ten BSW program competencies help BSW students analyze and evaluate professional
development. These ten competencies help social work students learn and integrate the NASW
Code of Ethics into the classroom and field. The first competency based on identifying as a
professional social worker requires constant self reflection to ensure the NASW Code of Ethics
are being followed, and to continue to develop as a professional. I consider self reflection to be
strength of mine as I log each day, and analyze each part to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses.
From my log, I know what areas I need to work on and be conscientious of. As a student new to the
social workfield I find professional boundaries to be a great weakness of mine. I find myself in a
sort of gray area as a student intern, since I am not quite a social worker but I am more than a
student. This gray area creates a dynamic which makes setting boundaries and knowing my role
more difficult. I have not found myself in a serious ethical dilemma so far in my career. I would
identify this as my greatest weakness at this time because I have not had to walk through an
ethical dilemma and therefore am unsure how I would manage. I can be quite passionate, and
have strong morals and values which could pose problems for me down the road. I would find
my supervisor to be a great asset when I do find myself in an ethical dilemma. I believe I would be
capable of walking through an ethical dilemma with supervision and

The Civil War Essay
The Civil War In this meeting of the Southern Historical Association great emphasis has been
placed upon a re examination of numerous phases of our history relating to the Civil War. While
several papers have dealt with certain forces which helped bring about the Civil War, none has
attempted a general synthesis of causes. This synthesis has been the task assumed by the retiring
president of the Association.
Before attempting to say what were the causes of the American Civil War, first let me say what
were not the causes of this war. Perhaps the most beautiful, the most poetic, the most eloquent
statement of what the Civil War was not fought for is Lincoln s Gettysburg Address. That address
will live as long as Americans retain their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A systematic study of both northern and southern opinion as expressed in their newspapers,
speeches, diaries, and private letters, gives irrefutable evidence in support of this assertion. Their
ideology was democratic and identical. However, theoretical adherence to the democratic
principles, as veil we know all too well in these days of plutocratic influences in our political life, is
not sufficient evidence that democratic government exists. I believe that I shall not be challenged
in the assertion that the economic structure of a section or a nation is the foundation upon which its
political structure must rest. For this reason, therefore, it will be necessary to know what the
economic foundations of these sections were. Was the economic structure of the North such as to
support a political democracy in fact as well as in form? And was the economic structure of the
South such as to permit the existence of free government? Time does not permit an extended
treatment of this subject; it will be possible only to point out certain conclusions based upon recent
research. By utilizing the county tax books and the unpublished census reports a group of us
conducting a cooperative undertaking have been able to obtain a reasonably accurate and specific
picture of wealth structure of the antebellum South, and to some extent that of the other sections.

The Party Goers In The Great Gatsby
The boundless parties of the roaring 1920s reflected the wildness and new wealth being
procured in the vibrant era. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there is a scene
depicting a party at Mr. Jay Gatsby s, an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious man, in which
the attendees seem to have joyous and exciting lives. However, under the surface their lives hold
little meaning and can be seen as depressing. Fitzgerald uses depictions of the attendees,
descriptions of the food and drink, and setting in order to reveal the dark undertone of the lives
of the upper class. One way in which Fitzgerald brings out the shallowness of the people is by
describing the way they carry themselves. The party goers are said to have enthusiastic meetings in
which they never knew each other s names, implying they never really cared about the people they
were discussing with but only felt the need to be talking to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To help glamourize the events, Gatsby s servants put up enough colored lights to make a
Christmas tree of Gatsby s enormous garden. The correlation of the lights with the Christmas
tree makes it seem as if every party which Gatsby hosts is a holiday by itself where people are
free to overindulge in a self destructive manner. To gain entrance to these parties, the guests must
go through blue gardens, coming and going like moths among the whisperings and champagne
and the stars. In the way that moths and most insects gravitate towards fire and light in the night,
the guests gravitate towards Gatsby s mansion looking for protection from the darkness in their
lives. The scene of the mansion the day after every party involves servants working all day with
mops and scrubbing brushes. The entire day of work required to cleanse the mansion by a team of
servants exposes how out of control the people are who attend these parties that give no care to the
reckless behavior they

Disadvantages Of Traffic Engineering
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (2013), the role of traffic engineering
comes in play; it is the phase of engineering that deals with the planning, having a good
relationships with other modes of transportation, and traffic operations of roads, streets and
highways for the achievement of safe, efficient and convenient movement of people and goods.
Aside from interpreting relationships among vehicles, trafficengineering applies technology and its
principles to plan and operate facilities for any mode of transportation (Roses, R., 2004.).
Furthermore, the objective of traffic engineering is to explore the factors contributing to traffic
congestion, to draw lessons from the experience that were gained to date so they may... Show more

The traffic flow along the Katipunan Avenue, in their opinion, seemed to worsen as the volume of
vehicles passing along seems to get higher. They also complained about the time limit of the
stoplight. In addition, many people had pointed out the presence of trucks during rush hour which
makes the situation more unbearable. Another disadvantage of traffic engineering is that it may
cause harm and discomfort to people as well as to the economy especially if traffic schemes that
are implemented are not suitable to the different vehicles roaming the streets. Such traffic scheme
may result to vehicle collisions that would increase delay especially during peak hours. Also,
disobedience of road rules and regulations may be violated because of the improper implementation
of the scheme. These disadvantages can cause extreme deterioration in the overall safety of
motorists and commuters.
It can be concluded that imposing the new Katipunan Avenue traffic scheme presents a positive and
negative implication. First, although it was designed to provide convenience and promote safety
among commuters and motorists, many people still think that there is no use at all in implementing
such new traffic scheme development action because the present condition along the Katipunan
Avenue remains the same. Accordingly, some say that there is still inadequacies present in the new
traffic scheme imposed by the MMDA and they should address as soon as

Lab Report #1
The Effect of О± Amylase Concentration on the Rate of Starch Hydrolysis in a Porcine Pancreas
Introduction:
Our body uses various different types of molecules that work together in order to keep us
functioning. One of these molecules is called amylase. Amylase is an enzyme that breaks up the
glucose chains in starch into maltose. Enzymes work to speed up a reaction by lowering the
activation energy needed for the reaction to occur. There are three different types of amylase: О±
amylase, ОІ amylase, and Оі amylase. О± Amylase is commonly found in saliva and pancreas of
many animals. In this experiment, we used porcine pancreatic О± amylase in order to find the
effect of different factors on the rate of the digestion of starch. The activity of О± Amylase can be
affected by the concentration of amylase, the pH of the environment surrounding amylase, and the
temperature that the reaction using amylase occurs in. This indicates that a change in any of these
factors can affect the enzyme, increasing or decreasing the rate that the reaction occurs: in the case
of amylase it indicates the rate that starch is digested, or maltose is created. All enzymes, О±
Amylase included, operate best in an optimal range of pH, temperature, and concentration; at these
optimal conditions the reaction will occur in the fastest amount of time (Ceska et al., 1969). In
particular, this report will focus on the effects of enzyme

Explain How To Determine The Visual And Academic Ability...
1.List at least three resources you should use to determine the visual and academic ability of a
student with a visual impairment. There are many resources a teacher can refer to in order to
determine the visual and academic ability of a student with a visual impairment. It is always best
to consult the primary source, the student, who often knows what their needs are. It is important to
form a relationship with the student because they will feel more comfortable expressing those
needs to their teacher. Another helpful source are parents and guardians, they live with their child,
therefore know their strengths and weaknesses, as well as understand the child more. Parents
might also be able to inform the teacher on what works best for their child. Teachers should also
look over their student s individualized education program (IEP), which will have a lot of useful
information. For example, the IEP will describe a child s strengths and weaknesses, academic goals,
instructional and physical accommodations and/or modifications, and a list of additional services
and/or assistive technology devices. Furthermore, traditional teachers can consult with a teacher for
the visually impaired (TVI) who can suggest strategies that will help the student learn more
effectively. The last resources, includes an orientation and mobility (O M) specialist, who helps
visually impaired students navigate in the classroom and at school, such as on the playground and
in the cafeteria. 2.Explain why

The Reasons For Malaysian Citizens Do Not Like Gst Essay
Discussion : Many of the consumers think GST may have many of negative effect to them
because their must to pay more than the original cost before the government introduces GST in
Malaysia. This is some causes that may the consumer and supplier do not like GST much in
Malaysia. First, I think the reasons why many of Malaysia citizen do not like GST is because
general products prices may go up, so this will increase their daily expenditure budget. Second it
will increase the load of the low income working group in Malaysia as we know the basis salary
in Malaysia is RM800. In the amount of RM 800, they have pay many of the other cost such as
utility expenses, houses or room rate, vehicle fuel and other thing. So that it make they feel that
this burden GST is distress them. In the same time they was worried if the government increase the
GST rate from 6% to 10% to increase revenue because it is possible for the government increases
GST rate to get more revenue to develop countries or to support the government burden. Next in the
beginning of introducing of GST that has many problems in implementation due to the lack of real
understanding of the concept among GST on the supplier and consumer and to ensure that the
supplier does not take any advantage of the consumer in increase the price of their product. In
addition, rumors from outside also make the Malaysia citizen feel bad to the concept of this GST

Sethe, Paul D., and Denver, are all in some state of conflict in the current circumstances of their
lives at the beginning of the novel. Although Beloved s arrival to 124 initially brings more upset
to the lives, it eventually leads to resolution for the family. Beloved embodies many of the
secrets of the three s pasts. She symbolizes the history of the family not only with her physical
appearance, but also with the relationships she forms with the three. When Beloved arrives at
124, she appears to be in extremely poor health. She has difficulty breathing. Sethe and Paul D.
initially suspect her symptoms are due to asthma and cholera. Although she appears to have
health problems, obviously Morrison described the apparition of Beloved as sick for symbolic
reasons. Actual health problems for a ghost are impossible, thus Beloved s choleric and
asthmatic symptoms internalizes the grief and distress she has for being murdered as an infant
by her own mother. Beloved s first meeting with Sethe, Denver and Paul D. foreshadows her
relationships with the three. Paul D. and Denver try to quench Beloved s thirst by serving her

Durkheim s Work in Sociology Essay
Durkheim s Work in Sociology
Some studies maybe more recent, but Durkheim s work remains the most significant Sociological
analysis of Suicide in modern societies
Assess the extent to which Sociological arguments and evidence support this claim.
In regards to Suicide it would seem perhaps more realistic to consider the subject as an individual
and personal act, a job which might seem more suitable for Psychologists to explain, it may not
seem an obvious subject for a Sociologist to study. In the past it has been more commonly thought
that Suicide was a result of a person s mental state, however suicide was given an all new

Also the statistics showed that the suicide rate dropped in times of war or political upheaval, For
example, the suicide rate dropped 14 percent after war broke out between Austria and Italy in 1866.
And by using multivariate analysis Durkheim confirmed his theory that religion was a main factor
and that it wasnt just dependent on some nations. He found that in Bavaria, which has the highest
number of Roman Catholics in Germany also has the lowest suicide rate.
Continuing on from his research and by using Empirical evidence Durkheim determined that there
were four types of suicide; Altruistic, Fatalistic, Anomic and Egoistic. And that these suicides were
a result of Social Integration or Moral Regulation and the excess or lack of either.
Altruistic is a result of over integration, a self sacrifice out of duty to others or to benefit others.
For example, Hindu widows would kill themselves at their husband s funeral. Egoistic is a result
of under integration, such is when a person isn t sufficiently part of a group to which they should
belong. It can be argued that this is one of the reasons why Protestants are more prone to suicide
than Catholics, because there is a lesser sense of community. Fatalistic is a result of over
regulation, in the case of when a person is too restricted by

cheating (Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to
anyone (Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary
to survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit
upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he
valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion
and compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the
sailors in trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would
denounce them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but
had taken him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach
the coast of Asia (Plutarch, 3.25). Themistocles, though brilliant and clever, resorted to lying and
manipulation when honesty was not productive enough, in contrast to the truth telling Cyrus,
whom Xenophon

Research Paper On Santa Claus
Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, and Chris Kringle are names associated with the most well
known figure among all children as Santa Claus. Currently, Santa lives in the North Pole with
his wife Mrs. Claus, reindeer, and his elves who create toys to give to all of the nice children.
For many, the act of making and delivering presents to all the little boys and girls of the world
may appear magical to children and adults but there is evidence proving that it is all smoke and
mirrors. In fact, devising a trip, delivering the presents, and the eating of cookies can be explained
by science and physics.
Believers of Santa s magic contribute the fact that Santa is able to travel around the entire world in
one night as proof of his magical authenticity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some believers of Santa s magic may state that he is able to eat all of these cookies because his
stomach has magical properties, allowing him to consume mass amounts of sweets and use it
as fuel. From the point of view of a scientist, this can be explained through the fact that Santa and
his sleigh expend a lot of energy and Assuming Santa comes fully laden with all the toys
delivered to children across the world, he has somewhere around a million tonnes of toys to
deliver, assuming about 4.5 pounds (2 kg) of toys per household (Siegel 1). With Santa
expending so much energy he would need to eat the sweets to power him and maybe even his
sleigh by turning ...those milk and cookies into energy via Einstein s E=mc^2 (Siegel 1). A
statement previously mentioned, stated that Santa s belly is magical and therefore allows Santa
to regain his energy. According to science, it would be impossible for Santa to eat millions of
cookies in one night, even if they were as a replenishment for his depleted energy. Since it is
physically impossible for Santa to eat millions of cookies in one night, He takes many cookies
back to the North Pole with him. One of his favorite activities after he returns home is to separate
all the cookies and remember where they came from. And he will eat them one by one. (Westover

The Significance of Radical Thought and Attitudes in the Civil War Period
The Civil War caused turmoil and upheaval that affected every strand of life in England. It
challenged and upturned the deeply ingrained feudal system with a Monarch as the head of all
moral, spiritual and governmental life, and moved thought and order towards new democratic
ideas and systems of rule. This period saw a new experimentation in ideas and attitudes among the
population, which was not welcomed by many. As Christopher Hill writes What was new in the 17
centaury was the idea that the world might be permanently turned upside down . In the wake of
Charles s regicide there was a popular mid seventeenth centaury ... Show more content on

As. Michel Lynch states: It was the great issue that defined settlement , or peace in this case. One
group challenging this were the True Levellers mockingly known as Diggers: With beliefs in
equality, community and true religion for all they argued that land was a common treasury and
lived in communes detached from society. The most famous commune was on St George s Hill,
where common land was taken over by a group numbering around 50 led by Winstanly. Their ideas
derived and supported from the Bible were radical in that they directly threatened the gentry and
the landowners. As Michel Lynch states they . were regarded as an intolerable affront to
established rights of property referring to a lifestyle of sexual promiscuity, heavy drinking and
frequent blaspheming , usurping land laws and ownership. Reactions and accusations followed that
they were Drunk on the Bible , thus dramatising many aspects of Digger practice. Just how
seriously they challenged established order was evident in violent clashes that culminated in their
removal under Cromwell s orders Lynch further poses an interesting idea that In an exact sense they
were communists . He is suggesting that here may lie the original seeds that led to later
Communism. That the first statue of Winstanly was erected in Russia after Lenin s consolidation of
power shows the extent of their influence in later history and

Catcher In The Rye Isolation Quotes
By the end of the novel, Holden learns to accept society for what it is and accept the fact that
kids do not necessarily need his protection from society or any of its prejudices, judgements, or
expectations. This does not mean that he cannot help them, as he can stay there and be waiting for
them to at least reduce the pain undergone due to the aforementioned societal aspects whenever
they need his help. After a single day and a deep, meaningful, and serious talk with Mr. Antolini,
Holden adapts to fit this role ideally. When he is about to leave for Mr. Antolini s house, Holden
[takes] [his] hunting hat out of [his] coat pocket and [gives] it to [Phoebe]. She likes those kind of
crazy hats. She [does not] wantto take it, but [he] [makes] her. (Salinger, 198 199). Here, Holden
gives the hat to Phoebe in hopes that it will protect her from whatever societal harshness or
hardships she undergoes while he is at Mr. Antolini s house. This hunting hat jointly symbolizes
protectionand isolation. It is a way of isolating oneself from all of the phony people because as
Holden himself admits on multiple occasions, it is ugly and displeasing to the eye. This could
potentially be a way by which he tries to deter himself from all of the phoniness in the world. One
type of phonies are those who take everything at face value, and by wearing this hat, Holden deters
at least them. That could even be the reason why he likes this hat so much: the fact that it makes
him come into contact

Louis Armstrong s Life, His Music And Influence On Others

wanted to do my project on a singer as well as a musician. I chose him because he was one of the
few people that I knew about, also because I did some research on him and listened to his music and
I thought that he was interesting to write about. My main three things that I m going to discuss
about Louis Armstrongwill be his life, his music and influence on others. I m going to describe
how and where Louis Armstrong s grew up and how he started out his career as a trumpeter. I m
also going to write about how he went through life and how that affected him in the future. Lastly,
I m going to discuss with you how he had an influence on others. I m going to explain how he
impacted the world with his music and how that affected so many people to this day. Louis
Armstrong made a great impact in the world and I m going to teach you all about it.
According to biography.com, Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans,

Westernization Is The Result Of The Contact Between...
Westernization is the result of the contact between western and non western cultures. Beginning in
the fifteenth century and playing out until the nineteenth century, colonialism and neo imperialism
by means of the Euro Atlantic economy s authority, played a major part in the spread of western
culture. For example, even after decolonizing and becoming their own countries with their own
governance, many former colonies adopted aspects of western politics, even if they firmly opposed
other aspects of western culture. Twentieth century and twenty first century globalizationtook
various forms. In the 1950s, there was accelerated postwar globalization through American and
European multinational corporations, like McDonald s and mcdonaldization throughout the world.
Then, beginning in 1970, the rise of industrializing economies meant the international division of
labor, with low wage and high wage zones, and in the 1980s, the United States took on an important
role in neoliberal globalization through the Washington Consensus, a reform package designed by
Washington D.C. comprised of a set of specific economic policy prescriptions for critically
economically unstable developing countries, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World
Bank. In 2000, globalization was heightened through the emergence of the economies of countries
including India, China, Brazil, and Russia (the BRICs). In recent decades, as opposed to during
colonial and recent post colonial times,

My vision of the perfect ending to a stressful day is easily described. I walk through the front

Once I am checked in, a nicely dressed young man pushing a solid brass cart with a red carpeted

Surrounded by mirrors, my family encounters one of the biggest conflicts of the day. Who will push

The first thing I notice when I walk in the hotel room is the near freezing draft flowing throughout

Why Braveheart?
Braveheart and the character William Wallace explain how courage, passion, and inspiration can

Additionally, the story of William Wallace illustrates how leadership traits can have a long lasting

Image As Presence In Blade Runner
The concept of image as presence refers to the concept that film can show the world as it truly is.
Directors can choose to project the idea of image as presence in multiple ways, through the
subjective viewpoints of the characters of the film, through an objective approach in which an
omnipresent force that dictates to us about the facts that exist. In contrast, imageas text, operates on
the understanding that the world cannot be shown as it is, rather there is an understanding that
what the viewer is seeing comes from an interpretive perspective. This viewpoint expects the

The result is that the dystopian future becomes a realistic possibility to the audience. This has two
effects, in the first it makes the events of the film more plausible. Technological development and
the creation of robotic life could eventually occur in our own reality. In this regard, the film is
using image as presence by setting up this believable world. However, in the second arena it
makes the audience reflect on the questions of urbanity and development that exist in our current
paradigm, thus inviting discussion about the way human and planning elements are being merged
together in our own technology driven world. These concepts are as relevant now as they were
when the film was first released two decades ago. The camera continually roves over this world

Ensuring robustness of financial models and the effectiveness of all systems used to calculate
market risk. Liquidity risk is the potential inability to meet the bank s liabilities as they become due
and are managed through caps on the net asset calculations in the various time buckets. Interest rate
risk is the risk where changes in market interest rates might adversely affect a bank s financial
condition. A long term impact of changing interest rate is on banks net worth since the economic
value of bank s assets, liabilities and off balance sheet positions get affected due to variation in
market interest rates.
The management of Interest Rate Risk should be one of the critical components of market risk
management in banks. Deregulation of interest rates has, however, exposed them to the adverse
impacts of interest rate risks. The Net Interest Income or Net Interest Margin (NIM) of banks is
dependent on the movements of interest rates. The GAP model for the Asset Liability Management
is concerned with measuring interest rate risk by finding the pattern of the net interest income over
a given period of time.

John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
East of Eden is considered a work of literature because of it s many complex characters, insights into
human nature, and use of literary elements to convey universal themes to the reader.
East of Eden is a novel that spans three generations, with a complex cast of characters who each
have their own unique motivations and values. The author, John Steinbeck, builds these characters
through their actions and relations with other characters, and through their actions, develop various
universal themes. Some prevalent themes in East of Eden include the idea of coping with evil, as
well as the idea of personal choice. Cathy Ames, the main antagonist in the novel, is described to
be completely evil; she is developed as a character with no morals ... Show more content on

John Steinbeck uses a wide variety of literary devices throughout his novel, most notably, his wide
use of allusions. The two younger generations of the Trask family mirror the biblical tale of Cain
and Abel, both in name and in actions. Cain and Abel is a tale of two brothers, one a farmer, the
other a shepherd, who each offer gifts to god. God chooses Abel s gift over Cain s gift, and in a
jealous rage, Cain murders Abel. God then exiles Cain to the lands east of Eden, where he is
sent to wander. Both generations of Trask brothers mirror the story of Cain and Abel. One
brother is favored above the other, which leads to anger from the sibling cast aside. Adam s
father cast aside Charles in favor of Adam, and Adam, unaware of the similar circumstance, casts
aside Caleb over his more amiable brother, sending him into a jealous rage the same way Adom s
brother had years before. The repeating circumstances convey the insight that history may not
repeat per se, but rather it rhymes. Another major allusion within East of Eden is the title itself.
Cain is sent to the lands east of Eden as his punishment, and so is Charles, who confines himself to
his farm to think over his actions. Caleb finally breaks the cycle, being relieved from his spiritual
wandering by his father. The title contrasts the theme of the novel, which emphasizes human choice
in their fate.

Corset Research Paper
A tummy tuck isn t designed to get rid of lots of body weight but rather to tighten up the
midsection. Some of the reasons for having a stretched out belly region includes pregnancy,
rapid weight loss, and aging. The older a person gets, the harder it is for his or her tissue to snap
back into place after it s been stretched out. Skin has quite a bit of elasticity when we re younger
but gradually loses that capability over time. After it s been stretched, as in a pregnancy,
sometimes it just stays that way long after the baby has been born. Not only does the external skin
of the midsection become saggy but the inner corset of connective tissue gets pulled out of shape
as well. That inner corset is designed to hold in our internal organs such

The Corruption Of The Shortcomings Of Korean Americans In...
When the streets of Los Angeles exploded on April 29, 1992, Korean Americans found themselves
in a crisis of identity. Known to them as Sa i gu, or 4 2 9, the five day uprising bluntly revealed
their cultural separation and its shortcomings. As Los Angeles fell apart, local Korean business
owners found themselves confronting their prejudice, which had undermined their relationship with
black customers. Following the exposure of these two issues during and after the riots, a mental
shift in the Korean Americancommunity became evident through its response to the event. By
exemplifying the involvement of Korean merchants in interethnic disputes, the Los Angelesriots
prompted the integration of Korean Americans into America s multicultural society.
Prior to the upheaval in 1992, the economic situation of many Korean immigrants, including those
who were merchants in Los Angeles, influenced their perceived isolation from other Americans.
Although a majority of these Koreans had a high education and desired to work as professionals in
America, their foreigner status and limited English prevented them from doing so. Consequently,
they resorted to running small businesses, hoping to eventually achieve mainstream success and
therefore upward mobility. To progress toward this goal, Korean merchants depended on each other
for funding; however, despite the financial advantages that this networking brought, it
simultaneously kept Koreans from engaging with the society that they

Tinky Winwell Rhetorical Analysis
Zumwalt exploits a sardonic tone in order to demolish FarewellВґs credibility and spoof his
defective reasoning. Utilizing rhetorical questions and litany of childrenВґs characters she proves
that the television show ВЁTeletubbiesВЁ, despite Farewells commentary, does not encourage
children to become gay. If anything, children are most influenced by their family and their actions.
The litany of children idols embedded in the satirical argument against Falwell jeopardizes his
credibility as a televangelist. He claims that Tinky Winky (from ВЁTeletubbiesВЁ), tends to
trespass into the female sphere too often causing children who watch it to become gay. Tinky
Winky is a character that is ВЁpurpleВЁ, vacuums, gardens, and is often caught ВЁcarrying a
purseВЁ. Additionally, the famous children s character has a triangle on top of its head and a
rainbow television in place of the stomach both representing gay pride. Moreover, none of the
ВЁTeletubbiesВЁ characters are assigned genders. Falwell assumed that Tinky Winky was a male;
when ВЁhe(she?)ВЁ might be a female. By implementing a rhetorical question of the fictional
character sexuality, Zumwalt is able to mock one of the numerous defects in Falwell s accusation:
Tinky Winky is a homosexual male. Allowing Zumwalt to disprove his claim, she both logically
and comedically gives several examples of beloved children characters and picks out their flaws
(physically and mentally) all having a negative impact on the child. For example,

managerial strategy of Zenith Medical Systems Incorporated, there are six main structural variables
that must be analyzed: job design, decision making and leadership responsibilities, control system,
reward system, communication and information, and lastly, coordination and departmentation.

Criminological Theory Of Edwin Sutherland s Differential...
I.Introduction: Differential Association Theory is a criminological theory devised by Edwin
Sutherland asserting that criminal behavior is behavior learned through association with others
who communicate their values and attitudes (Walsh, 559).
Summary:
We live in a world that is full of choices and some individuals believe we have a choice that is made
by ourselves regardless of any influences from outside parties. We have the authority to
determine what is right or wrong for our own lives and we should be held accountable for those
decisions. However, one would believe it s safe to say we live in a world that approaches life with a
black or white perception. Meaning decisions in life are either morally right or morally wrong and

The world is full of self centered and self absorbed individuals. We are in a digital world where
selfies are more common than group photos and working alone for numerous hours are the latest
trend. We are forbidden to ask for assistance from others because one should be able to provide for
themselves. Walters lifestyle theory can be applied to our society today, in terms of crimeisn t a
behavior one choices. Society has a pattern that can alter the course of someone s life and decisions
leading them down a path of criminal history full of irresponsible, impulsive and self indulgent
behavior.
II.Differential Association Theory Differential Association Theory was created by Edwin
Sutherland, whose primary goal was to create a theory that could explain both individual
criminality and collect crime rates (Walsh, 186). For crime to occur conditions must be
available, if not present crime does not exist (Walsh, 186). In reading 13, it shows that
individuals exposed to criminal activity are more likely to become involved in criminal acts.
Many empirical tests have relied on the number of criminal associates as evidence of interaction
with criminal members within an individual s primary group (Walsh, 217). The reading on page
141 supports Sutherland s idea that behavior is learned. Kody Scott was recently a graduate from
an elementary school in Los Angeles whose sole purpose in life was to become a part of a gang
known as Eight Trey Crips. Many would argue

Magical Thinking In North America
Though, it may sound like an oxymoron, there is much science behind magic, and how the human
brain interprets and interacts with magic and magical thought. Research has been conducted
extensively on why humans may resort to magical thinking. A study that was conducted by Giora
Keinan, a professor at Tel Aviv University, demonstrates when and why people use magical
thinking. To test for magical think Keinan sent questionnaires to 174 Israelis after the Iraqi Scud
missile attacks of the 1991 gulf war (Carey, Benedict 1) and what he found was those who
reported the highest level of stress were also the most likely to endorse magical beliefs. (Carey,

At first, these cultures may seem extremely isolated from one another, so magical thinking
would thought to be very different, but this is not true. Much Native Russian people and native
American people have quite similar DNA. This is due to the migration of Russians across the
Bering Strait into what is today the United States and Canada. In doing so, many Native Russian
beliefs and ways of life were brought over and manifested in similar but different forms among
tribes that are based in North America. Scientist have found conclusive DNA evidence to prove
the close relation between Native Russians of the Siberian region and Native Americans. To do
this, scientist examined 25,000 samples of DNA from Russian Natives and the nationalities of
peoples in neighboring countries. After this they searched for specific DNA markers such as the Y
chromosome and the Mitochondrial DNA, along with other chromosomes, in doing so the scientists
concluded that many people of Siberian descent and many individuals of Native American descent
shared many common ancestors. (Ter Ghazaryan, Aram, 1) The history of how people of Siberian
descent migrated to North America is also well known. Approximately 30,000 years ago, during the
ice age, what today is the Bering Strait, was then a land bridge, bridging the continents of Asia and
North America together, through a giant mass of ice. During this period, many people migrated
across the land bridge from Siberia into modern day Alaska. (Ter Ghazaryan, Aram,1) Eventually,
overtime the people of Siberia settled in North America and spread throughout the continent. Here
Native American culture and tradition formed, and while different in many aspects to that of their
Siberian ancestors, some practices carried on and manifested in different forms among

Analysis Of Should We Let Them Go By Mary Midgley
In Should We Let Them Go? Mary Midgley, an English moral philosopher, discusses the positions
behind captivity as well as her own view on the stances. She previews the defensive and abolitionist
position and somewhat critiques each, while answering the question. Bringing up the two
drastically opposite positons, lets her be able to state that there is a possible in between position.
The defensive position defends all the existing customs like having animals in captivity for
whatever the purpose is. This position claims that animals feel no distress because they do not miss
what they never had. The animalshave lost their active tendencies over time because of genetic
interference and conditioning. Midgley gives an example of hens showing ancestor behavior
challenging the defensive position. She states that animals can be bored and distressed in
confinement especially if they are naturally active animals like humans. Pain is not necessary for
there to be distress in animals. Midgley critiques the defensive position by saying that it is not very
impressive. She points out that animals cannot all be freed from one day to another, and that people

The people taking this stance believe in equal treatment towards animals. Midgley mentions a
problem with the position is that there has to be a clear definition of who the animal equals are. It
is hard to decide without already discriminating. Midgley also mentions her view on this stance by
saying that what animals need is not human rights but protection where they live. If under captivity
people should take into consideration the nature of the species so that the animals are treated better.
Equality is not necessary, what is necessary is knowledge on the animal so that treatment is not
inflicting torment. According to Midgley, people should respect animal distinctiveness so that
animals are treated with

  • 2. Western Desert Art Analysis This last winter I was lucky enough to have the chance to spend more than a month in New South Wales, Australia. All around the cities in New South Wales I saw many pieces of art that I found absolutely fascinating. All of these paintings seemed so simple, but the more I learned about them I realized there was lot of history in these paintings. The Style I became most interested in was the Western Desert Art, how it is evolving, the many emerging styles of it, and its many collections. This art movement emerged from the Aboriginal settlement of Papunya in the Northern Territory of Australiain the early 1970s. In 1971 the art teacher posted in the village Geoffrey Bardon, encouraged some of his traditional artists to paint a blank wall. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Short Story Monologue Despite the speed demons driving, I had a fantastic time with my new friends. After exerting our energy from walking around the mall, we stopped for a late lunch, before watching a movie together, and headed back home. John invited me back to his apartment, yet I felt apprehensive at the idea of being alone with him in his domain. Thank you, once again for taking me, I say as I exit the car. Thanks for coming out with us, says Patsy. This time, I wait by the building door and wave them goodbye before heading inside. As I skip my way up the stairs, ready to recap my day to Alice, my phone shrills, causing me to pause just before my front door to retrieve it. Hey, Alice. Hi Eva, I m just calling to let you know I won t be home... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I glance over to Alice s door, the urge to open and slam it closed again surges through me. However, it dissipates soon after, leaving Alice s door intact. Invisible bands tighten around my chest, making it impossible to breathe, I become dizzy from hyperventilating, I need to leave the apartment, somewhat regretting John s invitation. As I manage to calm myself, allowing my thoughts to run clearer, I realise the stupidity of spending the evening with John, enduring his lingering stares, considering I m far from ready to attempt a relationship with anyone right now, what with my wretched heart set on Angelo. Inside my bedroom, I remove my winter accessories and leather coat, tossing them on the bed beside my bag and phone, and peer into my washing basket. There isn t much in there, not enough for a full load, nevertheless, it will take my mind off of Alice and Angelo for a while. I heft my washing basket and head down to the basement where the washers and dryers live. No one knows who began the rule, nevertheless, the unwritten rule is for everyone in the building to add money to the kitty for the machine s service and purchase of the washing powder and dryer sheets. I plunge my hand into my jeans pocket and dig out the loose change hidden within. Seventy one cents, not much, but at least it s something. The cool, dimly lit basement remains just as neglected as the rest of the building. Cobwebs, long since abandoned by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Brown Sugar Compare And Contrast Coconut sugar looks a lot like brown sugar and the two are often considered interchangeable, but are they? The answer is not as clear cut as you might think. Below, we will take a look at the flavors of these two sugars and consider how well they work as substitutes for each other. How do the flavor of coconut sugar and the flavor of brown sugar differ? These sugars come from two completely different sources but are still similar in terms of their chemical makeup. When considering the taste of coconut sugar s taste, it is important to note that it does not taste like coconut any more than beet sugar tastes like beets. It is taken from the buds of the coconut tree, not from the coconut itself. Sap from the buds is processed using methods similar to those used for converting maple syrup to maple sugar. It does taste similar to brown sugar and provides very mild caramel notes. Brown sugar is simply granulated white sugar with added molasses for color and a mild flavor. Because molasses is used, brown sugar has a moister and stickier texture when compared to that of coconut sugar. It is usually made from sugar cane, but it can be made from sugar beets. What you will get from it in terms of taste is sweetness accompanied the deep... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some bakers have found that because of its softer texture, coconut sugar does not blend as well with butter as brown sugar does. This results in some pastries turning out dry or overly dense. The grains also tend to be coarser than those of brown sugar, which can lead to speckling and a more porous texture in some baked goods. You can compensate for the dryness by adding extra butter and you can prevent the speckling and texture issues by grinding the sugar in a food processor or blender. In applications where it is melted or sprinkled, coconut sugar is virtually identical to brown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Emancipation from Damaging Early Years While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choiceat a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the first day of kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things. Some preschools offer private daycares for gifted or highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Greatest Generation Of The World War II Essay Many of the Greatest Generations core values have been challenged by later generations due to changes in the economy, politics, war, social equality, technology, and the family structure. The Greatest Generation, a name that journalist Tom Brokaw popularized, refers to the generation that grew up during the Great Depression, served during World War II, and then worked hard and prospered after the War. The Greatest Generation believed in following rules and not questioning authority, focusing on the nuclear family, being patriotic, working hard, saving money and owning a house. These tenets have evolved during the last fifty years for better and for worse. The traditional values of the Greatest Generation taught them to respect law and order, follow the rules, and be patriotic. That generation did not question the reasons behind fighting in World War II. During that time, Americans sacrificed everything, from sugar to death of loved ones, all in the name of patriotism and America being the greatest power in the World. Supporting America s war went from becoming a duty to optional in later generations. Observing the casualties of war and questioning the reason for entering war, later generations challenged the United States military presence in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The Greatest Generation also did not challenge racism, as the Baby Boomers did that were born after World War II. The Baby Boomers protested, peacefully and violently, to bring about changes ... New Media Art With Its Intrinsic Characteristics Crowdsourced Documentation New media art with its intrinsic characteristics (instability and variability)[1] poses complex challenges in documentation, this observation is not new, and initiatives such as DOCAM[2] and Variable Media Network[3] have provided methods and tools to properly document media artworks. Nevertheless, the social phenomena of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, presents new challenges for established documentation methods and standards. This essay aims to address this subject by referencing recent exhibition and art practice frequently involve public participation and interaction, taking an in depth look at current theoretical, practical, and institutional documentation model, examining crowdsourced documentation as a valid source created by various contributors, can be incorporated as part of formal documentation. • 8. Voting System Of A Democratic Government One of the most significant parts of a democratic government is how the population of the country selects the people that will represent them in the government. The voting system that a country uses has a substantial impact on how the government of that country is run, and how well the concerns of the electorate are addressed. There are many important factors to weigh when selecting a voting system, but an efficient votingsystem needs to consistently address a few key issues. These include producing a government that represents the electorate s political views as closely as possible, preventing gerrymandering, and preventing two party rule. What voting system best accomplishes all of these conditions, and could be implemented for use in the United States? There are three voting systems that this essay will cover; these are first past the post (FPTP), the instant runoff, and mixed member proportional representation(MMP). First past the post (FPTP) is the voting system that is currently used in the United States. This voting system works by giving each citizen in the electorate one vote to choose the candidate that they feel is the best option. FPTP has many disadvantages when compared to the instant runoff and MMP voting systems. For instance, FPTP does not meet any of the above criteria for an efficient voting system. FPTP does not always produce a government that best represents the political views of the electorate. In some cases FPTP has produced results where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet s Death Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 14th century. It is a beautiful tragedy about two star crossed lovers and their journey together despite their feuding families protests. As a result of said feud, both Romeo and Juliet ended their lives, as a result of thinking that the other was dead. If we take this kind of situation and put it into the modern world, someone would be blamed for these tragic deaths. The only question is who. Their parents are to blame the Montagues and the Capulets. Of course, to craft your opinion on this topic, you must first understand the fictional background of the Montagues and the Capulets. Although the play doesn t offer a backstory, readers can easily see how much tension there is between the two families. They acknowledge it too, but most of the evidence for my conclusion comes from characters other than the Capulet and Montague head of households. Verona, where this play takes place, has a prince that notices all the conflict going on between the families. He says, right after a fight scene from which Tybalt (a Capulet) and Mercutio (a Montague) emerge dead, Romeo slew him; he slew Mercutio. Who now the price of his dear blood doth owe? (3.1.175 176.) The prince is pretty much fed up with the fighting between the Montagues and the Capulets. After this scene, readers of Romeo and Juliet can safely infer that the death of a Montague and the death of a Capulet will not be the last. There did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Ten Bsw Program Competencies Help Student Students... The ten BSW program competencies help BSW students analyze and evaluate professional development. These ten competencies help social work students learn and integrate the NASW Code of Ethics into the classroom and field. The first competency based on identifying as a professional social worker requires constant self reflection to ensure the NASW Code of Ethics are being followed, and to continue to develop as a professional. I consider self reflection to be strength of mine as I log each day, and analyze each part to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. From my log, I know what areas I need to work on and be conscientious of. As a student new to the social workfield I find professional boundaries to be a great weakness of mine. I find myself in a sort of gray area as a student intern, since I am not quite a social worker but I am more than a student. This gray area creates a dynamic which makes setting boundaries and knowing my role more difficult. I have not found myself in a serious ethical dilemma so far in my career. I would identify this as my greatest weakness at this time because I have not had to walk through an ethical dilemma and therefore am unsure how I would manage. I can be quite passionate, and have strong morals and values which could pose problems for me down the road. I would find my supervisor to be a great asset when I do find myself in an ethical dilemma. I believe I would be capable of walking through an ethical dilemma with supervision and ... • 12. The Civil War Essay The Civil War In this meeting of the Southern Historical Association great emphasis has been placed upon a re examination of numerous phases of our history relating to the Civil War. While several papers have dealt with certain forces which helped bring about the Civil War, none has attempted a general synthesis of causes. This synthesis has been the task assumed by the retiring president of the Association. Before attempting to say what were the causes of the American Civil War, first let me say what were not the causes of this war. Perhaps the most beautiful, the most poetic, the most eloquent statement of what the Civil War was not fought for is Lincoln s Gettysburg Address. That address will live as long as Americans retain their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A systematic study of both northern and southern opinion as expressed in their newspapers, speeches, diaries, and private letters, gives irrefutable evidence in support of this assertion. Their ideology was democratic and identical. However, theoretical adherence to the democratic principles, as veil we know all too well in these days of plutocratic influences in our political life, is not sufficient evidence that democratic government exists. I believe that I shall not be challenged in the assertion that the economic structure of a section or a nation is the foundation upon which its political structure must rest. For this reason, therefore, it will be necessary to know what the economic foundations of these sections were. Was the economic structure of the North such as to support a political democracy in fact as well as in form? And was the economic structure of the South such as to permit the existence of free government? Time does not permit an extended treatment of this subject; it will be possible only to point out certain conclusions based upon recent research. By utilizing the county tax books and the unpublished census reports a group of us conducting a cooperative undertaking have been able to obtain a reasonably accurate and specific picture of wealth structure of the antebellum South, and to some extent that of the other sections. • 13. The Party Goers In The Great Gatsby The boundless parties of the roaring 1920s reflected the wildness and new wealth being procured in the vibrant era. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there is a scene depicting a party at Mr. Jay Gatsby s, an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious man, in which the attendees seem to have joyous and exciting lives. However, under the surface their lives hold little meaning and can be seen as depressing. Fitzgerald uses depictions of the attendees, descriptions of the food and drink, and setting in order to reveal the dark undertone of the lives of the upper class. One way in which Fitzgerald brings out the shallowness of the people is by describing the way they carry themselves. The party goers are said to have enthusiastic meetings in which they never knew each other s names, implying they never really cared about the people they were discussing with but only felt the need to be talking to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To help glamourize the events, Gatsby s servants put up enough colored lights to make a Christmas tree of Gatsby s enormous garden. The correlation of the lights with the Christmas tree makes it seem as if every party which Gatsby hosts is a holiday by itself where people are free to overindulge in a self destructive manner. To gain entrance to these parties, the guests must go through blue gardens, coming and going like moths among the whisperings and champagne and the stars. In the way that moths and most insects gravitate towards fire and light in the night, the guests gravitate towards Gatsby s mansion looking for protection from the darkness in their lives. The scene of the mansion the day after every party involves servants working all day with mops and scrubbing brushes. The entire day of work required to cleanse the mansion by a team of servants exposes how out of control the people are who attend these parties that give no care to the reckless behavior they ... Disadvantages Of Traffic Engineering According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (2013), the role of traffic engineering comes in play; it is the phase of engineering that deals with the planning, having a good relationships with other modes of transportation, and traffic operations of roads, streets and highways for the achievement of safe, efficient and convenient movement of people and goods. Aside from interpreting relationships among vehicles, trafficengineering applies technology and its principles to plan and operate facilities for any mode of transportation (Roses, R., 2004.). Furthermore, the objective of traffic engineering is to explore the factors contributing to traffic congestion, to draw lessons from the experience that were gained to date so they may... They also complained about the time limit of the stoplight. In addition, many people had pointed out the presence of trucks during rush hour which makes the situation more unbearable. Another disadvantage of traffic engineering is that it may cause harm and discomfort to people as well as to the economy especially if traffic schemes that are implemented are not suitable to the different vehicles roaming the streets. Such traffic scheme may result to vehicle collisions that would increase delay especially during peak hours. Also, disobedience of road rules and regulations may be violated because of the improper implementation of the scheme. These disadvantages can cause extreme deterioration in the overall safety of motorists and commuters. It can be concluded that imposing the new Katipunan Avenue traffic scheme presents a positive and negative implication. First, although it was designed to provide convenience and promote safety among commuters and motorists, many people still think that there is no use at all in implementing such new traffic scheme development action because the present condition along the Katipunan Avenue remains the same. Accordingly, some say that there is still inadequacies present in the new traffic scheme imposed by the MMDA and they should address as soon as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Effect Of Enzyme Concentration On The Rate Of Starch... Monica Saripella Beibei Xin: Thurs @ 5 2/19/14 Lab Report #1 The Effect of О± Amylase Concentration on the Rate of Starch Hydrolysis in a Porcine Pancreas Introduction: Our body uses various different types of molecules that work together in order to keep us functioning. One of these molecules is called amylase. Amylase is an enzyme that breaks up the glucose chains in starch into maltose. Enzymes work to speed up a reaction by lowering the activation energy needed for the reaction to occur. There are three different types of amylase: О± amylase, ОІ amylase, and Оі amylase. О± Amylase is commonly found in saliva and pancreas of many animals. In this experiment, we used porcine pancreatic О± amylase in order to find the effect of different factors on the rate of the digestion of starch. The activity of О± Amylase can be affected by the concentration of amylase, the pH of the environment surrounding amylase, and the temperature that the reaction using amylase occurs in. This indicates that a change in any of these factors can affect the enzyme, increasing or decreasing the rate that the reaction occurs: in the case of amylase it indicates the rate that starch is digested, or maltose is created. All enzymes, О± Amylase included, operate best in an optimal range of pH, temperature, and concentration; at these optimal conditions the reaction will occur in the fastest amount of time (Ceska et al., 1969). In particular, this report will focus on the effects of enzyme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many resources a teacher can refer to in order to determine the visual and academic ability of a student with a visual impairment. It is always best to consult the primary source, the student, who often knows what their needs are. It is important to form a relationship with the student because they will feel more comfortable expressing those needs to their teacher. Another helpful source are parents and guardians, they live with their child, therefore know their strengths and weaknesses, as well as understand the child more. Parents might also be able to inform the teacher on what works best for their child. Teachers should also look over their student s individualized education program (IEP), which will have a lot of useful information. For example, the IEP will describe a child s strengths and weaknesses, academic goals, instructional and physical accommodations and/or modifications, and a list of additional services and/or assistive technology devices. Furthermore, traditional teachers can consult with a teacher for the visually impaired (TVI) who can suggest strategies that will help the student learn more effectively. John Steinbeck uses a wide variety of literary devices throughout his novel, most notably, his wide use of allusions. The two younger generations of the Trask family mirror the biblical tale of Cain and Abel, both in name and in actions. Cain and Abel is a tale of two brothers, one a farmer, the other a shepherd, who each offer gifts to god. God chooses Abel s gift over Cain s gift, and in a jealous rage, Cain murders Abel. God then exiles Cain to the lands east of Eden, where he is sent to wander. Both generations of Trask brothers mirror the story of Cain and Abel. One brother is favored above the other, which leads to anger from the sibling cast aside. Adam s father cast aside Charles in favor of Adam, and Adam, unaware of the similar circumstance, casts aside Caleb over his more amiable brother, sending him into a jealous rage the same way Adom s brother had years before. The repeating circumstances convey the insight that history may not repeat per se, but rather it rhymes. Another major allusion within East of Eden is the title itself. Cain is sent to the lands east of Eden as his punishment, and so is Charles, who confines himself to his farm to think over his actions. Caleb finally breaks the cycle, being relieved from his spiritual wandering by his father. The title contrasts the theme of the novel, which emphasizes human choice in their fate. ... As Los Angeles fell apart, local Korean business owners found themselves confronting their prejudice, which had undermined their relationship with black customers. Prior to the upheaval in 1992, the economic situation of many Korean immigrants, including those who were merchants in Los Angeles, influenced their perceived isolation from other Americans. Utilizing rhetorical questions and litany of childrenВґs characters she proves that the television show ВЁTeletubbiesВЁ, despite Farewells commentary, does not encourage children to become gay. If anything, children are most influenced by their family and their actions. The litany of children idols embedded in the satirical argument against Falwell jeopardizes his credibility as a televangelist. He claims that Tinky Winky (from ВЁTeletubbiesВЁ), tends to trespass into the female sphere too often causing children who watch it to become gay. By implementing a rhetorical question of the fictional character sexuality, Zumwalt is able to mock one of the numerous defects in Falwell s accusation: Tinky Winky is a homosexual male.
