1.Verisimilitude is the appearance of truth. It can be broken down into three parts:
a.Probability: how likely is it that these events could actually happen? To keep the plots of
neoclassic plays probable, playwrights removed supernatural and fantasy characters, the chorus, and
any soliloquy or aside where a character would speak directly to the audience and not to another
character. In MoliГЁre s play The Misanthrope, this can be seen right off the bat as Alceste
informs the audience of his love for CГ©limГЁne by discussing it with Philinte who here serves as
a confidant for Alceste to avoid using a soliloquy.

Sandra Cisneros s short story Never Marry a Mexican deals heavily with the concept of myth in
literature, more specifically the myth La Malinche, which focuses on women, and how their lives
are spun in the shadows on men (Fitts). Myths help power some of the beliefs of entire cultures or
civilizations. She gives the reader the mind of a Mexican American woman who seems traitorous
to her friends, family and people she is close to. This causes destruction in her path in the form of

For over three hundred years, Russia had been controlled by an autocratic government known as
the tsarist regime. This empire was ruled by a series of tsars who had absolute dictatorship over
