June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Response To Intervention Paper
Response to intervention, also known as RTI, is a multi–tiered system for early identification and a
process that implements support for students with learning and behavioral needs. There is no
standardized system for RTI, therefore there are variations and many ways to implement and
initiate these services. Typically these services are broken down into steps or tiers, in order to
ensure all students are being universally screened and are receiving the help they need. Typically the
process begins with a universal screening of all children in the general education classroom. The
process of universal screening often means ongoing student assessment and progress monitoring to
provide teachers with the data needed to determine which...show more content...
A comprehensive evaluation provides students the eligibility for special education services under
the individuals with disabilities education improvement act of 2004 (IDEA 2004). Under the IDEA
system parents may also at any point request a formal evaluation to determine their child's eligibility
for special education. Tier two and tier three students need extra time, smaller groups, narrowed
instructional focus, more frequent assessments in order to provide more data, and expertise
especially to benefit students. All grade levels and learners struggle in different areas as they
progress through school. Grades Pre kindergarten through third grade is a time when the services
are being used to prevent difficulty in reading. This age group is known as the prevention stage.
Because these are pivotal years in learning to read and fundamentals it is important to gave a strong
RTI in order to allow kids to thrive. Grades four through twelve are the rescue stage. RTI is
typically used to rescue struggling readers. The goal for RTI is to prevent and aide in students so
that they do not struggle and get the help they

2. Response To Intervention
RtI (Response to Intervention) is a seamless system of continuous, meaningful, and research–based
interventions for struggling learners, anchored in high quality, culturally and linguistically
responsive instruction and assessments. The purpose of RtI is to provide all students with the best
opportunities to succeed in school, identify students with learning or behavioral problems, and
ensure that they receive appropriate instruction and related supports. The role of the support team is
to identify and analyze the problem and recommend interventions that have proven successful with
other struggling students. The classroom teacher is asked to modify instruction, implementing the
suggested strategies and then carefully monitor...show more content...
Instruction should be differentiated according to how students learn, build on existing student
knowledge and experience, and be language appropriate. In addition, decisions about Tier 2 and 3
interventions should be informed by an awareness of students' cultural and linguistic strengths and
challenges in relation to their responsiveness to instruction. Teachers use student assessment data and
knowledge of student readiness, learning preferences, language and culture to offer students in the
same class different teaching and learning strategies to address their needs. Differentiation can
involve mixed instructional groupings, team teaching, peer tutoring, learning centers, and
accommodations to ensure that all students have access to the instructional program. Differentiated
instruction is not the same as providing more intensive interventions to students with learning
problems. RtI has three levels of prevention: primary (core curriculum), secondary (Tier 2
intervention), and tertiary (Tier 3 intervention). Through this framework, student assessment and
instruction are linked for data–based decision–making. If students move through the framework's
specified levels of prevention, their instructional program becomes more intensive and more
individualized to target their specific areas of learning or behavioral need. Typically each level of
intervention lasts from 9–12 weeks with data collection completed regularly, e.g., weekly to three
times per week. If the child's skills improve, the intervention is considered successful. In addition, An
academic intervention is successful if there is a sustained narrowing of the achievement gap for the

3. Response To Intervention In Education
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi–tier tactic designed to support students with educational
and behavioral needs. This process begins with the collection of assessment results that enables the
screening of all children in the classroom. Struggling learners are assisted with interventions suitable
for their individual needs to assist their learning. The basic components of successful RtI are :
High–quality, scientifically based classroom instructions
Ongoing student assessment
Tiered instruction

elementary school students. Using the assessment results of the last 2 years the staff set up RtI tier
placements for the students. All students would receive Tier 1 instructions, which is the core level

who are "at risk" where placed in tier 3 .Tier 2 included additional directed instructions to
complement the core instructions , while Tier 3 involved small–group or one–on–one intensive
interventions in addition to core instruction
To guarantee the success of the RtI process ongoing data collection and analysis are an essential

WEEK TWO I had not considered emotional history to a great extent before the seminar, instead
focusing on the 'everyday' aspect of infant mortality (IM). Dyhouse and Newton's articles presented
questions, including why concern over IM grew, and why males were stoic rather than expressing
emotion; something I had not acknowledged as part of Victorian mannerism, attributing it to the
patriarchies of the postmodern world. Questioning whether the sources used by Newton portrayed
true emotions or were merely presentations of such expanded my understanding, and presented
further questions. Can we truly understand past emotions when all we have is a representation and
cannot experience them the same way? I suggested that we can merely interpret the presentation of
emotion, not the true emotions of the past, however, I now acknowledge that there is something of a
perpetual emotional response (PER) to the death of infants, and that we are able to interpret the
past's emotions through this understanding....show more content...

own perception of IM after the seminar. With no experience of it myself, I was unable to determine

7. Emergency Response Essay
Background:
There is no disagreement in the fact that the disaster either small or large scale possess a serious
threat to all levels of government: Federal, State and Local (Petak and Atkisson, 1985). Although
there is an agreement that disaster causes serious threat, the debate is still prevalent regarding the
policies that lessen these devastating events (Petak and Atkisson, 1985). After the establishment of
FEMA in 1979, emergency management model was developed. "The model consists of four phases:
Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery" (p.50) (Mushkatel and Weschler, 1985). Petak
(1985) asserts that policies that are implemented regarding these four phases are called emergency
management. There is a gap in the policy making as...show more content...
He explains that when emergencies occur the response phase is considered as important and the
emergency managers tend to neglect other components such as preparedness, recovery, and
mitigation that are equally important (McLoughlin, 1985). Among this four stage of the disaster
management, there is lack of research on disaster recovery (Ganapati and Ganapati, 2008).
Similarly, Mannakara and Wilkinson (2014) also agree that the recovery phase is least understood
and poorly management. They assert that the recovery phase should be given priority as it is
important to bring back the normality in the affected population as soon as possible. The
significance of the Research:
The significance of the research is twofold. Firstly, the study will understand gaps in the emergency
management cycle. In particular, the study will help to understand different emergency management
priorities in hurricane Andrew and hurricane Irma. Next, the study will be important to give future
directions in implementing policies regarding emergency management at the local level such as in
academic institution (FIU) and also in state level.

9. How to Resolve Conflict Essay
Conflict is in inevitable part of our everyday lives. Since no two people view things in the exact
same manner, disagreement will most certainly arise at some point in time. Conflict is simply a
difference of opinion and is considered to be a normal part of our everyday lives. There are several
different forms of conflict and not all of them are considered to be bad. This paper will discuss the
causes of conflict, the different types of conflict, and barriers to conflict. According to
Communication Research Associates, conflict is a condition of imbalance within an individual
(Communication Research Associates, 2005, p. 178). Keep in mind that just as there are
disadvantages to conflict, there are also several advantages.
In order to...show more content...
For example, if you are at work and walk by someone's desk and accidently knock their pen on the
floor. All of sudden, the person lashes out and starts to curse at you. Knowing that this is not the
norm for your coworker, it would safe to assume that they are under some form of stress or have
other things on their mind. By knowing this, it becomes easier to respond in a more responsible,
tempered, and appropriate, manner. Sometimes ego can become a cause for conflict as well. There
may come a time when someone is wrong about something or they may have made a mistake but
they refuse to admit it. Because they have such a high ego, they may become self–protective of their
situation, therefore causing conflict because they refuse to admit they were wrong. Instead they may
choose to become persistent in standing their ground, whether they are right or wrong.
During communication, if the intended goals are not clearly identified, there is a greater
possibility for error and it could further aggravate a situation, causing conflict. Because each
individual is different there are bound to be clashes within certain personality types. For example,
if someone prefers to discuss everything in detail and I prefer to get straight to the point then we
could have a personality clash because we are not seeing things eye–to–eye. They may view me as
being incompetent or irresponsible while I would

10. Relationship Between RTI And Test LD Students
I respect your viewpoint, but I disagree that response to intervention (RTI) should be used as the
sole means to diagnose learning disabilities (LD). Because of their lack of standardization; these
procedures might be object of much measurement errors. For example, let us consider a teacher that
uses RTI and test LD students every four months using a battery of tests. Because there are no
guidelines for RTI, school districts and/or teachers use the measure that they most favor.
Despite the widespread support for RTI, many potential concerns remain. Among some issues are the
type of instructional setting, assure proper instructional validity, defining intensive instruction,
personnel training, and availability of well trained teachers, (Batshaw,

Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi–tier approach to identifying and supporting students with
learning and behavior needs. Utilizing the RtI Problem Solving Process adapted from Little, M.E.
(2013), this case study will focus on Mattie Maddox, a student in Ms. Concepcion's 2nd grade class.
The author will describe the case; examine the causes of the underachieving student(s), identify the
interventions used, and analyze their effectiveness. Lastly, the RtI Model will be compared to the
differentiated instruction practices in a reflective form.
RtI's: Making Sense of the Problem–Solving Process "Response to Intervention (RtI) is a process
used by educators to help students who are struggling with a skill or lesson; every teacher will use
interventions (a set of teaching procedures) with any student to help them succeed in the classroom"
(Special Education Guide, 2013). RtI is composed of three main components: A tiered system of
services, a problem–solving approach, and a data collection system. Tier 1 begins with high quality,
researched based instruction and screening in the traditional classroom. The screening process
identifies the underachieving students that need Tier 2 individualized support provided in small
group setting. If those targeted students continue to struggle, they will move to the intensive level or
Tier 3. This level provides individualized, intensive skill specific interventions. If the student does

Currently the way disabilities are diagnosed has changed from the previous years. According to
Colarusso et al., (2013) general education teachers play a large part in recognizing learning
disabilities in the regular classroom. With the implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI)
there are a more people involved in the decision making process. The team consist of a Data Team.
This team analyzes data from benchmark tests given throughout the year. My school gives three
benchmark tests a year, in math and reading. As soon as a student falls below a certain percentage
they are tagged for intervention, more than the classroom teacher gives. There is a three tier system,

Thank you for your informative response. You stated "The focus on one area of management creates

can have a negative impact on employees.

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi–tiered approach to identify and accommodate students with
behavioral and learning needs; however, are these approaches providing the best opportunities for
success for our students. In this peer reviewed article entitled "Effectiveness of a 10–Week Teir–1
Response to Intervention in Improving Fine Motor and Visual–Motor skills in General Education
Kindergarten Students" explores the effects of an RTI developed in collaboration with classroom
teachers to enhance fine motor in visual–motor skills of general education kindergarten students.

Designed to be an early identification approach, the successes of this approach may be limited to
teacher training and knowledge to effectively implement RTI. Providing and designing approaches to
enhance student learning is significant, therefore, targeting student strengths and weaknesses
promotes the ability to create and design successful interventions. Furthermore being proactive to
students needs instead of waiting until the student fails will build a foundation paves the road that
lead to a successful educational outcomes. Although the students in this research and receive the RTI
showed improvements, there was no significant data to indicate substantial motor and visuals skills
gained. In addition, this study highlighted the significance of occupational therapy practitioners,
short term interventions, and collaboration provided the teachers with the tools needed to enhance
the students' ability without occupational therapist present. Ohl et al.

Week 4 Exercise #2 "Introduction" They Say/I Say In the introduction to "They Say/I Say": The
Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates
designed to give students a taste of the language and patterns that sophisticated writing requires.
These templates focus writers' attention on what is being said while also helping them to focus on
rhetorical patterns. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein argue that the most effective writing template
they offer is the "they say_____, I say_____" formula. This formula expresses personal ideas ("I
say") in response to another person or group ("they say"). This is the underlying structure of effective
academic writing. It prompts students to progress in their writing in ways they might have not
otherwise done. As the authors themselves put it, "listening closely to others and summarizing what
they have to say can help writers generate their own ideas." Although some people believe that
templates stifle creativity, Graff and Birkenstein insist that...show more content...
In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend can help return writing to its
conversational base. For instance, using the "they say / I say" model shows students that they can
best develop their argument by looking outward and engaging the other person's voice. In addition,
this model cuts across different disciplines and genres of writing. It can be used for anything from
creative writing to academic writing. Some might object, of course, on the grounds that templates
seem too simplistic. Yet I would argue that the templates are only as simple as the author would like
to make them. The template's content, which may be very complex, could be best organized by a
basic structure. Overall, then, I believe that templates are a fantastic way to quickly organize writing
in a manner that is clear and

18. Have you ever want too many things even though your life was already fulfilled and lost
yourself? Have you ever ask too much and regret for what you did? Every desire, ambition,
selfishness and a bit of extravagant of a human being was carefully portrayed in this story, "The
Necklace". The story is about a young woman named Mathilde Loisel. Born in a family of artisans,
she wasn't rich, but beautiful and glamor. But she never feel satisfied of what she had and never
stop dreaming to have more, to live a luxury life with expensive homes and glittering dresses, and
eventually paid hard for her nonsense dreams. In "The Necklace", Guy de Maupassant uses third
person limited narration to show how Mathilde Loisel changes in how she...show more content...
When her husband gave her the invitation to the ball, which was a perfect place to meet the rich
people, Mathilde got mad and cried. It was a shame since she has nothing to wear. Mr Loisel gave
his money to Mathilde and she got an elegance dress. But she didn't stop and wanted to have
jewels. Mathilde met her friend, Madame Forestier and chose an gorgeous diamond necklace. Of
course, she became the prettiest woman in the ball, with everyone stared at her, as if she was the
most attractive woman ever. She felt fascinated, just like her dream came true. But then a tragic
came to her. She lost the necklace! Mathilde and her husband tried to find the necklace, but they
found nothing. Mathilde lost her hope and had aged five years. The Loisels finally decided to
replace the diamonds for 36 000 Francs, spent all of their money and accepted to pay the debts. It
was such an unfortunate situation. After Mathilde lost the necklace, she was described as " And,
clad like a poor woman, she went to the fruiterer, to the grocer, to the butcher, a basket on her arm,
haggling, insulted, fighting for every wretched halfpenny of her money". (Maupassant 8). The
family was suffering from poverty and have to pay the debts continuously. Mathilde changed
immediately and did everything. They have worked so hard to earn every single penny for their
life, to survive and pay all those debts. The third person limited

19. Correct Response In Research
Responses: The response is the behaviour that the therapist wants to see occur from the learner after
the antecedent is presented. The responses in the video matched those that were in the lesson plan
except for one of the five. The only incorrect response was that Timmy forgot to put on the
moustache with the nose in number one. In this situation I prompted him with a gestural prompt to
obtain the correct response. Consequences: Consequences are the results when the expected
response is provided by the learner. The consequences that were described in the lesson plan were
the same as the consequences that were in the video. 1.Moustache and nose are on Mr. Potato Head
in correct locations– consequence, "Great Job!" –Verbal reinforce, Play continues– tangible
reinforcer–toy. 2."Wonderful! That is Mr. Potato Head's mustache."– Verbal reinforcer. Play
continues– tangible reinforcer–toy. 3.Child correctly attaches mouth to Mr. Potato Head–
consequence, "Right! Let's put it on Mr. Potato Head." – Verbal reinforce, Play continues– tangible
reinforcer–toy. 4."Great asking!"– Verbal reinforce, IT presents eyes to child–consequence, and Play
continues– tangible reinforcer–toy. 5."Way to go! Mr. Potato Head's sees with his...show more

Potato Head (for the video, I was only able to get one). Having two Mr. Potato Heads would have
made things go quicker, so that we could have covered more in the time allotted. As well it would
have been easier to show on another Mr. Potato Head what to do in sequences, rather than doing
on one toy then having to remove the items for learner to do. Having a picture of the completed
Mr. Potato Head might have been helpful particularly for a visual learner. We didn't use a picture
schedule for this scenario as Timmy was familiar with the toy and how to use it, but for another child
this might be
