What Are The Major Challenges Facing Homeless Families
While many consider homelessness to vary in meaning, I consider homelessness to be when one
lives out in the elements of mother nature, no shelter at all. For this reason, no Beth and her
children were not homeless, they had protection from the elements. Major challenges that confront
professionals working with homeless families are: keeping in contact with the familyand getting the
best resources for them. The first objective to working with a homeless family would be to get
them stable living conditions, a permanent address. With this, a professional would have an easier
time at getting the necessary resources this family needs. Such as, the necessities of life, food and
shelter.
Resources which might help the homeless are: The HUD exchange,

The Downward Spiral Analysis
In 1994, Nine Inch Nails released a dark, desolate album called The Downward Spiral. The songs
are known to alternate violently between too low volumes with sweet melody (along with that
soft ragged voice characteristic of grunge) and too high volumes with many layers of white
noise, screaming, and distortion layered over hard rock instrumentals (Gold). The message of the
album is as disturbing as the audio: It tracks the narrator s path of self destruction through
attempting to find satisfaction in religion, sex, and drug abuse ( Interview ). The album, while
rife with emotional significance on its own, acts as both a prophecy and a cry for help. It
followed a junkie s painful lifestyle, the addiction and abuse functioning solely as a metaphor for
Reznor s internal strife ( Interview ). But soon after releasing The Downward Spiral, Reznor would
turn to drugs and alcohol, later surviving a heroin overdose in the... Show more content on

The first lyric sets the tone for the whole song: I hurt myself today/To see if I still feel . That first
verse later goes on to describe the narrator s usage of drugs (likely heroin): The needle tears a
hole/The old familiar sting . The verse as a whole describes a sense of hopelessness: the man
hurt himself (either indirectly through drugs or by actually inflicting pain), uses the pain and
high to try to forget his situation, but apparently still remembers everything. The narrator is
disgusted with how everything has turned out, and asks in a refrain, What have I become? He
is miserable, and considers his life and accomplishments (his empire of dirt ) worthless. To mark the
very end of this sorrowful soliloquy, Reznor softly adds If I could start again/ A million miles away
/ I would keep myself/ I would find a way . If he could start his life over, he wouldn t have done it

Rhetorical Techniques In Billy Joel s The Nylon Curtain
While the term authored is traditionally applied to literary works, the term can be used in a
broader sense to refer to any piece which employs rhetorical devices in order to serve a specific
purpose or put forth a specific message. In terms of an audio album, the cover artwork is the
first part a listener is exposed to and can be expected to pique that person s curiosity so that they
are led to learn more about or buy the album. The artwork created by Christopher Austopchuk for
Billy Joel s album The Nylon Curtain exemplifies this concept of authoring as the scene he uses
both draws one s interest when first seen and embodies a part of the social commentary presented
through the lyrics of the album. The cover of The Nylon Curtain presents a bleak view of the
American Dream, with an illustration of a line of houses, all exactly the same: two stories, an
attached garage, and a car inside the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title brings to mind the historical scene in which the album was released due to the relation
to the figurative Iron Curtain which divided Europe at the time. With the Cold War continuing
and the recent loss of the Vietnam War, the title contributed to the dreary image which the cover
paints for America at the time. This reference to the conflict at the time further appeals to the
sympathies of the audience, with many opposing the war efforts which were ongoing for
decades. Because of this, they would likely have identified with both the title and the songs on
the album which voiced opposition to the war in Vietnam and spoke of the suffering caused by it.
This use of pathos would lead one to be curious about the meaning behind the title if they were to
see the album in a record store, advancing one main purpose of the cover artwork: to lead one to

What Is Abraham Lincoln s Political Career
Abraham Lincoln was the best president that the United States of America has had for a leader. He
paved the way for the abolition of slavery. He also led the Union through the bloodiest war in
American history to end slavery and preserve the Union. He also paved the way for strengthening
the federal government and improving the U.S. economy.
Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin county, Kentucky in his parents log cabin on February 12,
1809. Lincoln had brother and a sister but his brother died when he was an infant. Lincoln had a
hard childhood because when he was a little boy his family was forced to move to Perry county,
Indiana due to land disputes in 1817. His mother died from tremetol when Lincoln was only nine

Shortly after being elected, Lincoln decided he wanted to be a lawyer, and in 1837 Lincoln
moved to Springfield, Illinois to become a lawyer in the John T. Stuart law firm. In 1847
Abraham Lincoln began his political career when he served a single term in the U.S. House of
Representatives. He was a lonely Whig from Illinois and struggled to find many political allies
because he spoke out against the Mexican American War. It also made him unpopular in his
home state so he decided not to run for a a second term and went back to being a lawyer. By the
time the 1850 s came around railroads were expanding west rapidly and Lincoln was a lawyer
and a lobbyist for the Illinois Central Railroad Company. In 1854 congress passed the Kansas
Nebraska Act which repealed the Missouri Compromise and allowed states and territories to
decide if they wanted to have slavery or not. Since Lincoln was against slavery and thought it was
morally wrong he joined the Republican Party in 1856. In 1858 Lincoln ran for a seat in the senate
against Stephen Douglas and accused him promoting slavery and said a house divided cannot

In 1957 the Common Essay
In 1957 the Common
In 1957 the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was outlined by the then six member states. The
main reason for the Common Agricultural policy was to make Agriculture a self sufficient entity in
The European
Union.
The six member states of the European Union proposed to do this by creating a stable market for
agricultural produce and at the same time keeping prices at an affordable level for consumers.
The heads of the European Union (E.U) believed that Agriculture was one of the most significant
industries within the E.U; .and as a result agreed that special attention needed to be focused on this
area of European policy. When the nations of Europe got together in the late 1950 s, agriculture was

In this paper I will look in detail at the Common Agricultural Policy and then I will examine the
controversy associated with the policy. I will look at the steps taken by the E.U to counteract this
controversy and whether or not the controversy is likely to continue in the future. The common
agricultural policy is funded by means of the European
Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee fund (EAGGF) this fund amounts for almost half of the E.U
budget. The EAGGF incorporates two basic areas which are support and guidance, support of
prices and markets and to guide rural development. (Nugnet, N. 2003)
At the onset of Cap it was thought that revenue generated from import levies would finance the
EAGGF but due to the unforeseen and indeed rapid increase in agricultural produce within the E.U
and therefore a reduction in imports this has not been the case and the financial burden has fallen
on to national governments, however in recent years the E.U has decided to rely on its own
resources for the funding of
EAGGF. (EL Agrai, Ali. M. 2001)
The area of support within the EAGGF ensures that farmers have a market for their goods setting

The Garifuna have survived through centuries of cultural oppression. From the beginning they were
marginalized by dominant forces. Although there are still difficulties, they have still been able to
keep their own identity. The music, especially traditional Punta and Punta Rock have created a way
to promote Garifunaculture and raise awareness of social problems worldwide. Music has always
been a way of communicating traditions, such as the honor of ancestors and a way of defining the
unique identity and values of their society, especially with the texts of the songs. The texts reflect
the influence of African heritage and syncretism with the indigenous culture. They displays the

For Garifuna s these racial categories are simple and do not encapsulate the massive complexity
of the hegemonic black and white binaries, for Garifunas being black means a whole range of
categories and in doing so many assumptions are dismantled. Moving to the United States has
made their assimilation process much easier because they get quickly adjusted to the American
Way of life. Living in places like New York City, they begin losing themselves as they shift away
from their own culture and begin adapting to the life of the dominant power and for many this
American Dream becomes an American Nightmare. Garifunas who are migrating back to their
homeland in Central America are bringing back the North American culture and way of life. The
older generations are seeing their culture slipping away form their hands. There are riches in the
Garifuna culture that many Garifuna s themselves do not see and it is not that they are rejecting
their culture but the problem lies in how consumed they are in the Ameirican way of life and
culture as they have no other alternative. The younger generations of Garifuna s born in the United
States do not know the language because they do not get the opportunity to learn it growing up as a
mentality of assimilation is instilled. However, the older

Genetic Engineering In Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake characterizes the world after an uncontrolled experiment
causing near total destruction of all human kind. In the eyes of Snowman, also known as Jimmy,
we witness his journeys back and forth between the reminiscences of the past and the present. The
major calamities slowly make its transition as it all began in the hands of man who believed in the
works of biotechnology, as a ground breaking vitality to humanity, only to be destroyed by their
own creations and conceptions. Similar to reality, biotechnology took off as it began cross

as GMOs. As how Atwood s views the world pessimistically through the trials of error from genetic
engineering, she warns us and abstracts the reasons that the pervasive usage of the sciences and
technology to be a source to the downfall of humanity.
Deeply entrenched within society is the idea that we are continually advancing and developing in
all sorts of ways, but mainly for the benefit of human vitality. In Oryx and Crake, one of the
experiments the scientists and researchers focuses on is their pigoon project, where they can grow
an assortment of foolproof human tissue organs in transgenic knockout pig hosts (22). The pigs are
genetically modified by inserting human cells into them so they can internally reproduce the same
organs as humans do, and are also inserted with spliced genes to fend off attacks by

Conflict Between Israel And Israel
Before getting all sophisticated and going into depth about this issue, I would like to break down
each subject that would be discussed. Conflict is defined as incompatibility or interference, as of
one idea, desire, event, or activity with another. Palestine (also called the Holy Land) is an ancient
country in South West Asia, on the East coast of the Mediterranean. Palestine is also a country
divided between Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. Lastly, Israel is a republic in South West Asia on the
Mediterranean, formed as a Jewish state in May of 1948. These two, the Israelis and
Palestinians, have been fighting for decades. The main reasons include international agreement,
borders, economic security, water resources, sovereignty of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements,
Palestinian freedom of movement due to barriers, and resolving Palestinian claims of a right of
return for their refugees. Of course, at one point in time there had to be peace. There wasn t
always fighting and clashing going on. This time of peace happened to be before a group of
Zionists from Europe decided to invade the land in attempt to make it home for the Jewish
people. Eventually, fighting broke out when the Arabs realized what was really going on and
how it would affect their people and community. As stated before, these two have been going at it
for many many years so of course there are wars to prove it. The first war fought between the
Palestinians and Arabs took place in 1947 1949, also referred to as

Difference Between Jazz And Jazz Music
Traditional jazz and brass bands are two of the most popular styles of music in New Orleans today.
In both of these styles, the culture and popular musical elements for the time strongly influenced
their evolution. While the two styles share common roots they differ in what they have evolved into
on a distribution and diversification level.
The slave trade in New Orleans brought hundreds of slaves from West Africa into a young and
developing city. With them came their cultures and music styles. As slaves, a sense of community
became essential to their joint and individual survival. And, since New Orleans afforded their urban
slaves with the ability to congregate, they began to express this West African culture in the form of

Wuthering Heights By Emily Bronte
here are some wounds that go far too deep, and never heals. Such destruction can cost more than
beyond repair, and spark one of the most largest human motivations: vengeance. If left unnoticed,
the feeling will grow inside us and consume our every thought and ruin our lives. Therefore,
leaving no remorse or peace for ourselves and others. Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heightsis a book
about love that turns into vengeance and hatred that goes for generations. This story revolves
around Heathcliff, an unmerciful vengeful man. His desire to pay back those who have done him
wrong is so extreme that he finds himself unhappy and unsettled even after he succeeds. In the
novel, it is shown that there can be no peace in wanting unending revenge, as shown through the
conflicts, characters, and settings.
To begin, one cannot find inner peace if one has an utmost desire for revenge. This is shown
through the many conflicts between the characters and themselves. First of all, Heathcliff is
primarily interested in gaining land and vengeance towards others who have abused him or
doubted him. To backtrack, he was adopted by Mr.Earnshaw, and he had a stepbrother named
Hindley. Hindley mistreated and downgraded Heathcliff, and for that he feels the need to pay him
back. After Hindley died from over drinking, Heathcliff went in to raise Hindley s son, Hareton.
Heathcliff s plan was to abuse Hareton and make him miserable to pay back Hindley. For instance,

Descriptive Essay On The Creperie
A chalkboard caught my eye as a I strolled down the streets of Old Town Flagstaff. Scribbled in
an array of colors was a quote by Nelson Mandela No one is born hating another person because
of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they
can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human
heart than its opposite . It was sat in front of a little alcove of an eatery called The Creperie.
Seeing the establishment transported me back to the summer of my freshman year when I went to
Paris with my family and enjoyed artisan crepes in a little cafe near the Seine river. My stomach
immediately began to grumble just thinking about those crepes, and I decided then that I would try
out The Creperie. However, the service, food, and ambiance would need to be superb in order to
match the level of the authentic French cuisinethat I ve enjoyed. When I walked through the door,
moreso opening in the brick wall, of The Creperie, I was greeted with a warm smile by a middle
aged Hispanic woman. She asked me about my day, my studies at college, and how I enjoyed
living in Flagstaff. Though this may come across to most as normal niceties, she seemed to be
genuinely interested in what I had to say. Not being familiar with the menu items, I asked her
which dessert crepe she preferred. This was met with her giving me different options for different

Human beings and animals are both equal because we breathe the same air, walk the same land,
and whether you re an animal or a man your plans are prone to be thrown of track. In the short

Small and George Milton. They are migrant ranch workers who move around California in
search of jobs in order to achieve their dream. Their dream is to own their own piece of land. Yet
due to Lennie s disability, he gets into big trouble and their dream is demolished. George is a
smart man who is Lennie s guardian and best friend. Lennie is a very strong man but he has an
unknown mental disability. Lennie has the urge to feel soft objects but anytime he does they die.

Domestic Terrorism And International Terrorism

Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism
The acts of terrorism can affect the lives of many people and is not limited to those who receive
physical scaring, but also people who have an emotional connection to those who are injured, and
quite possibly an entire nation. To distinguish between domestic and international terrorismone
must first define terrorism. It seems from region to region there are slight variations of what
qualifies as terrorism. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as the unlawful use
of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian
population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of or social objectives (FBI Terrorism 2002
2005). The Federal Bureau of Investigation further distinguishes terrorism by dividing them into
two distinct categories: Domestic and International terrorism. Domestic Terrorism is categorized by
the FBI as occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. These acts are
violent in nature and aim toward the intimidation of a government and its people. Domestic and
International terrorism can also be further distinguished by considering the origin of the individuals
or groups who commit the acts. Domestic Terrorism involves people who are natural born citizens
or those who primarily operate in the

`` Comfort Me With Apples `` By Tracy Daugherty
If you ever die in Houston (Rough Draft)
In the short story Comfort me with Apples by Tracy Daugherty the theme of death transpires
throughout the story. Daugherty developed a constant theme of sorrow and unfortunateness
through the characters, places and events, which all were ultimately affected by death. Although,
countless readers of Comfort me with Apples would suggest that the story is centralized by another
theme, many would agree that the theme of death in the story showcases how different characters
cope with death and the effects it has on the human condition, by examining how George coped
with the death of his wife, how death affected the Zamora family and how the bayou represented
death in every aspect when portrayed.
Undoubtedly with many untimely deaths, such as automobile accidents, survivors are often left
with survivors guilt and have to find ways to coupe death, as George did in the story. The tragic
accident that killed George s wife and her parents left him in disarray, but he persevered by
holding on to the memories of his wife, helping others and by staying busy throughout story.
George did not feel sorry for his self or succumb to moping around and lying in bed all day, as
many do when coping with death. For instance, George spends his days helping and interviewing
the Zamora and Thout families, he brings them food, offers advice and ultimately shows
compassion for both families. Additionally, he keeps close relationships with his friends

Thomas Aquinas Point Of View On Religion
Thomas Aquinas is one of the most notable philosophers whose works have been used as reference
materials by people across different generations. His theological perspectives stressed the influences
created by Aristotle. According to Aquinas, religion and faith remain intertwined in the logic.
Thomas Aquinas believed that faith and reason are the same. Therefore, his concept of the Bibleand
the Church differ from other scholars who stressed the significance of religion. The voice of reason
has been echoed from one generation of philosophers to the other. Several religious figures
considered the concepts shared by Aquinas from an extremist point of view. They believed that
Aquinas like Aristotle diverted people from religious aspects by focusing on faith solely. Aquinas
work, the Summa Theologica is the basis of the discussion. The Summa Theologica establishes that
Christianity is a religion yet faith is an element that people should address from an enlightened
point of view. The five volume document establishes that reason or logic often inform the actions of
certain Christians. Since philosophy concerns inquisitiveness, people should not be afraid to
question the things they doubt about religion . From Aquinas point of view, people should always
listen to the opposing point of view when talking about Christianity. The philosopher established
that one of the things he questions about Christianity is the concept of I answer. In essence, an
authoritative figure

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 113 in Game 2
of the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2 0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers superstar
LeBron James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the
most in NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do
for an encore performance in Game 2?
To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4
of 7 from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when
you are a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc,
putting the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if
they want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and
11 assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo,
attacking the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also
threw down a powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1,

The Role Of Proactive Administration Of Human Asset Issues...
Introduction Mergers and acquisitions are expanding in worldwide as associations attempt to grow
their operations and increment their upper hand. Yet, regardless of hopeful desires, mergers and
acquisitions regularly come up short, to a limited extent since director s disregard human asset
issues, which are occasionally considered until significant issues emerge. This study highlights the
significance of proactive administration of human asset issues, simultaneously with
recommendation for the issues, and offers point by point commonsense guidance to guarantee that
the procedure will succeed. In recent years, human resource managers have been triggered to play a
more strategic role in their organizations, especially in making strategic decisions and going
through radical organizational changes such as merging process. Nowadays this requirement is
even more urgent and act due to the fact that past decade has been characterized by enormous
growth in mergers. HR Management should establish deliberate plan and procedures within strict

Father Mapple s Quest In Moby Dick
Moby Dick Analysis Everyone has their white whale. It could be something mundane like a math
test or a performance in class. Or it could be something that you can t control the outcome of, no
matter how hard you try. The fact of the matter is, a white whale is a goal that is extremely
difficult to achieve or a roadblock along the way. Ahab, captain of the whaling ship The Pequod,
faces white whales throughout Herman Melville s novel Moby Dick. His quest, as perceived by
the reader, seems to be to just kill the creature that took his leg from him. Without any digging deep
into the book, this seems incredibly true, it s what the book follows for the most part. However, the
figurative quest he goes on is interpreted upon further investigation. This quest is to both find
himself and the truth about the world that he inhabits.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the series Scrubs, one of the first episodes is titled My White Whale. This white whale comes in
the form of a difficult thing to achieve, such as the approval of a mentor. Despite this taking
place in the world of a sitcom, it still serves as a symbolic phrase. In literary terms, this white
whale that is discussed can serve to represent a few things, such as the truth and God himself.
Father Mapple s sermon in the beginning of the book warns the sailors not to go out to sea, as
Jonah did and was punished for venturing out of the lines of God s plan. Ahab s venturing out
to find this whale, and along the way he is told that he has angered God and that he will be
punished. He then dies at the mercy of Moby Dick due to the line being wrapped around him,
dragging him deep into the ocean. The idea of Moby Dick s representation of God comes from
his color. White is a color most commonly associated with purity and divinity. So, due to the
combination of the omens leading up to Ahab s death and the whiteness of the whale, Moby Dick
has a double meaning. Not only is Ahab searching for some truth, he is also

Toronto Blue Jays Case Study
The Toronto Blue Jays are in the midst of a tight race as the playoffs approach. There are many
areas of improvement that the Jays need to focus on in order to compete, let alone qualify for
the post season. The one major concern for the Jays is defence, as it has been their achilles heel
and needs rapid improvement. The Jays gave up six unearned runs on their seven game road trip.
You can not give good teams extra outs and baserunners. Toronto paid a price for their defensive
deficiencies against the Angels and Mariners. They will need to clean that up immediately if they
are going to maintain their position in the wild card race. Plagiarismoccurs when a body of work is

Sigmund Freud was the first psychologist to suggest that everyone has a large unconscious. He
also identified three parts of the personality: the id, ego, and superego. Freud said that the id
operates on pleasure principle , the ego operates on reality principle , and the superego operates
on moral principle . A great showcase of the different parts of the personality can be found
within the movie Regarding Henry. In this movie Henry Turner falls victim to an armed man in
his local convenience store. After the accident Henry s personality, and life in general,
undergoes a drastic change. In my opinion, Henry s natural state is his id. In this movie, Henry
Turner appears to be largely controlled by his id. One of the first big examples of this is when
he leaves the house late at night by himself to go purchase cigarettes. Henry goes out at a
dangerous hour because he feels the need for a cigarette and this is what results in him being
shot. Another example of him using his id is when he lashes out at his caretaker, Bradley. Henry
loves Bradley but when Bradley tries to tell him that it s time to go back home Henry is overcome

The microfracture procedure has been used more recently for chondral defects of the glenoid and

this case report is to provide details on the rehabilitation of a recreational athlete who underwent a

and opportunities to learn were denied. In the United States, many states had schools that educated
only one in five children with disabilities and many states had laws that excluded certain children
with disabilities such as deaf, blind, emotionally disturbed or mentally retarded. US Department Of

Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 also known as Public Law 94 142 (P.L. 94

Gender Inequality In Society
Gender inequality remains a major barrier between humans. Women have made major strides in
promoting equality as a whole, but have a long way to go. Gender roles are a set of societal norms
dictating the types of behaviors which are generally considered acceptable, appropriate, or desirable
for people based on their actual or perceived sex or sexuality. The concept of genderroles is based
on certain male and female stereotypes, which has been constructed through history. In American
society, the norm for gender roles distinguishes between masculine and feminine behaviors,
attitudes, and activities. In today s culture people want to promote the concept of egalitarianism,
which can value equality but promote and put certain emphasis on... Show more content on

In order to understand why gender inequality is present within society, we must first understand
how gender became a category for human beings to be classified. Eric Wolf (1923 1999)
describes culture as a self generating and self propelling mental apparatus of norms and rules for
behavior . Culture involves habits and symbols, which produce ideas that allow individuals to
separate or unite themselves. The 19th century model of unilineal evolution emerges through the
theories of various anthropologists. This model seeks to critique societies and cultures through a
teleology that moves from primitive to civilized societies. Through this model, we see ideas
formulated by James Ferguson (1959 present) and Edward Tylor (1832 1917). Ferguson states
there are no higher or lowers societies, however, Tylor views civilization as higher and lower forms
through the use of culture. He holds to the idea that civilization and culture are identical. There are
not different civilizations, just different amounts of culture within a society. Charles Darwin (1809
1882) enforced the ideology that women are biologically inferior to men. This was thought largely
due to the idea that men must prove themselves physically and intellectually against other men in
competition for women. Whereas, women must be superior to a man largely in the case of physical
attraction. Franz Boas (1858 1942) challenged unilineal evolution and argued that Darwin s work
wasn t teleological. In the

Due to differences of opinion on legal ages of consent by states legislations, there is an issue
concerning the basis of equality established in every case involving statutory rape laws across the

contribution to the issue of having many welfare recipients. Officials agreed upon the enforcement

While in a majority of states the age of consent is sixteen, adolescents of that age are in most cases
not mentally or financially capable to care for a child, causing the need for government
assistance. When an individual becomes eighteen years old they are legally an adult and entrusted
to make adult decisions, such as voting or buying tobacco products. In most cases persons of that
age are capable of providing for themselves and if necessary, a child. People under the age should
not be allowed legally to participate in such an activity that requires adult judgment and
responsibilities, however, it should not affect their ability to receive contraceptives or sexual health
care.
There is a major stipulation in the concept of privacy and minor s sexual activities. Some may
argue the fact being able to receive contraceptive, abortions, or medical attention for STDs are
grounds for having privacy in their sexual lives. However, these are aspects of health and are
considered too private for state involvement. In the case of a minor s right to privacy in engaging
with an adult, the proposal of privacy rights are ultimately invalid as it is seen as a potential
hazard to their health. In relation to one another, however, have shown contradictory. In the Florida
Supreme Court case B.B. v. State, the court ruled in favor of the argument of privacy as a sixteen
year old adolescent couple have the right to procreation as long it is done using un intrusive means.

The Importance Of Experiential Learning
Experiential learning is a unique form of learning that allows you to learn through first hand
experience outside of the classroom using skills, knowledge, and experience. It can happen through
internships, studies abroad, field trips and research, and service learning projects. This type of
learning is when a student can apply their own knowledgeto real world problems rather than a
made up problem by a teacher. David A. Kolb made this concept popular by stating that its base on
learningwhich is a process where knowledge is created through transforming experiences. It has a
cycle that does more than just learning it, it allows you to experience it, then reflect it, then
conceptualize it, and then experiment. Experiential learningis important for business students to
learn experientially because of all the elements that are taught doing the task. The reflection,
conceptualize, and experiment allows students to further engage in various different way such as
creatively, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. This creates students to become more
motivated to learn. This motivation to learn is then reflected in how they apply the content to
experiential learning and gives them opportunities. The reflection that the business students have
after experiential learned helps better prepared them for the future. The reflections create deeper
learning that can help at internships or work because they ll be better and more important when the

Personal Self Control And Early Intervention
PAGE 1 Personal Self Control or Early Intervention Self Control The term self control defines as,
someone s control over his or her own impulses, emotions, feelings and actions (Jack Gantos,
2016). Early Intervention To avoid a crisis, you need to be able to observe or assess the situation
in such a way as to notice when it is beginning to develop into a crisis (Saskatchewan Polytechnic,
2016, p. 29). There are some basic elements of crisis. For instance, they occur quakily,
unexpected and follows specific phases. It is an important thing to know more about our
strengths and triggers before dealing crisis. We are responsible for our emotions and feelings.
For this assignment, I would like to follow the points given above for the early intervention and
self control: Listen Listening is the core of any process. For the early intervention, it is important
for front line workers to listen properly to the clients and individuals. For the non verbal clients,
we have to be aware about their body language and signs for communication. For instance, when I
was on my one week practicum, I worked with one non verbal client. She always used her hands
to deliver any kind of message. I became aware of her messages that delivered by using hands from

Introduction: The semester long research project that I have chosen deals with international
students pursuing a higher education in the United States. According to the IIE, International
Institute of Education, the majority of international students come from asian countries and have
been populating the US through a variety of study fields leading to eventual, desirous opportunity
to continue living in the US. The issue revolving around this topic that goes unnoticed includes:
social stigma, racial discrimination, mistreatment beyond societal behavior into financial and other
difficulties such as job opportunities due to immigration policies. The United Stateshas also
developed a new form of racismthat has plagued the nation and goes unnoticed: the concept of neo
racism, or new racism (eric.ed.gov). This attack on people of specific national origins has become
a new approach to discrimination against racial groups of people in the United States to top off
abuse of international students in the economy, as Dr. Ip of Auckland University said in an

has been done on the concepts of neo racism and there are statistics available that prove that there
are financial contributions international students make that benefit the United States. The topic of

To What Extent Did The American Colonists Refuse To Let...
Thomas Jefferson once said, If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is
obligated to do so. Citizens of any government are often subject to unjust, unreasonable
legislation that they are required to follow but are they? In fact, in order to uphold a government
that reflects the will of the people, citizens must protest unfair laws by deliberately disobeying
them. This method often results in immediate change, would help to ban immoral laws that can
be dangerous to some groups of people, and upholds the entire idea of a fair government: to let
the people rule. The first major benefit of a group of people disobeying a law is that it usually
results in quick change, either by the government receding to the wishes of the people or by more
people joining the movement in order to overthrow the government, which creates huge change.
One historic example of this was when some of the American colonists refused to obey the
Intolerable Acts that Britain imposed on them as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. Ultimately,
the Intolerable Acts of 1774 were the catalyst for the American Revolution. By refusing to... Show

This principle is upheld by Henry David Thoreau s statement that Disobedience is the true

citizens to be truly free is to stand up to their government. The fact of the matter is that nothing
accurately reflects the will of the people more than when that desire is expressed loud and clear
through the tumultuous time of an overthrow. Political unrest is the clearest indication of the fact
that the citizens are fighting back against something unjust not only because they want to, but
because they have to in order to protect

Differences Between The Movie And The Great Gatsby
Old Money Problems: A Comparison of The Great Gatsby Adaptations For a story rich in
symbolism and recurring themes, F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby fails to fully depict its
own characters as being careless rather, the movie version, directed by Baz Luhrmann, is able to
use its medium with more success to achieve it properly. Through analyzing the affair and poor
choices of an infidelious husband and the false obliviousness and thoughtless decisions of a
young woman, the true variances between the mediums can and will be found. In regards to
Tom Buchanan s status as a careless person , the film certainly has a more accurate portrayal
than the novel. Tom s affair with Myrtle plays a pivotal role in this, as the way he goes about
going to his New York apartment with her has significant differences between both formats of
the narrative. In the book, Tom makes it a point to sit in a separate car from Myrtle on the train
into New York to avoid suspicion from any East Eggers, who may be riding on it as well; In the
movie, however, it simply cuts away from the front of George Wilson s garage to inside the
apartment, with no reference to careful organizing on Tom s part, nor any effort at all to keep
themselves secret. Although this can be chalked up to necessary cuts to the movie, the quick
switch from outside the garage to inside the apartment is more effective in making Tom seem
careless with how others will see him, with no discreteness to cover up his affair. Tom s

The Prisoner s Dilemma
This semester so far in Core 5, we have learned about the Prisoner s Dilemma. It is a situation in
which people each have options as to how to react to something. However, what is unique about
this decision, is that each person s decision is directly affected by the other person s decision,
and vice versa. The outcome of their reaction is dependent on what the other person decided to
say. The popular example is of two prisoners who each must separately decide on whether or not
to confess to a crime. Each prisoner has the choice as to confess to the crime or to deny their own
involvement. This is just an example, though, as the Prisoner s Dilemma can be applied to many
different scenarios. As it relates to climate change, each party has the... Show more content on

Even stated by Dr. Rice, The evidence is there: nearly 100% of scientists agree (Rice). It is
alarming that millions are ignoring this problem they are just making it worse. Climate change is, a
rapid increase in temperature caused by increased carbon dioxide levels (Rice). When people
choose to ignore this, they continue to release careless levels of carbon dioxide without any care
in the world and continue to ruin our planet. We, as inhabitants of earth, have an obligation to
take action and start taking care of our home. Some people, perhaps, choose not to take action
because it would be too difficult or too expensive but that is simply not true. You can take a stand
at home by simply adjusting your thermostat, recycling, and monitoring your electrical use
(Take). Taking action does not mean you must buy a new vehicle or a new home you can make a
change in many small ways. It does not take a lot of time or money to protect our planet and those
that live here. If everyone chooses to just do something small, it will make a big

Differences And Roles Of A Charge Nurse And The Charge Nurse
Conflict means different opinion to different people. In some reason, conflict can cause fighting,
war or trade embargos. But for other people it might be a different in opinion, perspective or
personality. Others may think they are in a conflict situation, when the other side may feel that they
are just discussing opposing views. His situation depends on our effects can result in damaging our
relationship. As a charge nurse, we have to be aware how this issue arises and how to overcome and
manage this conflict. If this conflict causes an unhealthy situation and we are allowing it to
develop , the side effect can result in lasting damage to the relationship between the staff not only
in the working place but also a personal relationship. Conflict normally involve opposing views on

Always ask, What about the work situation is causing these staff members to fail?
The workplace conflict may come out to be strictly interpersonal; however, it is important to ask
yourself if it is possible that workplace conditions were the catalyst or the enabler. Maybe a
charge nurse or head nurse ignored the system of budding. The new nurse shoud work together
(working side to side) with senior staff instead of having her work entirely by herself. Eventho the
charge nurse is always assisting her, but the charge nurse has many other duties to bear away.
Often, when the conflict happens, it is more volatile and more debilitating to the organization than
it was initially. An open conflict or interpersonal disagreement festers just below the surface in the
work environment. It comes up to the surface whenever enabled, and always at the worst possible
instant.
The following are strategies for conflict resolution:

Sea Creatures Categorized as Zooplankton, Nekton, and...
There are many different creatures in the ocean. They are categorized into 3 different groups that
are Zooplankton, Nekton, and Benthos. In the ocean the zooplankton eat phytoplanktons.
Zooplankton are eaten by all of the larger animals. Phytoplankton self reproduce so they don t
need to eat other things. They create their own food. The Nekton eat the zooplankton because it
is a smaller species than the rest. Some of the most dangerous animals to both humans and other
sea animals are Leopard Seals. Leopard Seals are the second largest species in the Antarctic. The
Sea Leopard can be found mainly in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Atlantic
Ocean. It is estimated to live 26 years, some sea leopards live beyond 26 years of age. Leopard
seals mainly eat other seals, penguins, fishand krill.
The leopard seal is a big animal with a dark grey back and a white stomach. It was given the
name leopard seal because it has spots on its throat. Their front teeth are sharp and their teeth
lock in a way so they can kill easier and keep the other fish in it s mouth if it wasn t completely
dead. The leopard seal can usually be found in a pack. It spends most of the time in the water.
Leopard seals don t make much noise except a few grunts and it sometimes growls. A torpedo
ray has a soft yet fat and flabby body. It has loose skin and a muscular tail. They have electric
organs that are shaped like kidneys. They are pretty slow animals but they can cause a lot of harm.

Matthew And Mark Gospel Comparison Essay
Mark is said to be the oldest written gospel but the literature never mentioned the author s name.
Mark was a rather powerful story of Jesus, which includes Jesus development through his path of
becoming the anointed one (Millar, 2010, p. 19). However Matthew is very similar yet contrasting
to marks gospel; the gospel was a very influential gospel until the modern times. The Gospel
became powerful because Matthew claimed to be the first follower of Jesusand the gospel was part
of the New Testament (Millar, 2010, p. 61). In addition it covered almost mark s entire gospel
making mark s Gospel unnecessary. This paper will aim to comparing and contrast Gospel of Mark
and Gospel of Matthew; although both the Gospels are very similar they portray... Show more

The gospel of Matthew differs from the teaching approach of Marks. Jesus teachings in Matthew
are very direct whereas Marks Gospel is vague and not as detailed. Gospel of Marks is story of
Jesus as a servant someone who helpful and can do anything for the good of people. Whereas,
Matthew emphases Jesus as a King, someone who is keeps all that is promised by the prophets
in the old testaments. Mark defines Jesus in a very mysterious character to be very mysterious
as Jesus frequently commands people that he helps not to tell anyone. This shows that Jesus
wanted to be a mystery. In addition Mark 16:1 8 he commands the women not to tell anyone as
she see s the open tomb Even the ending, of the gospel where there is just an empty tomb he
commands the women to tell no one (Mark 16:1 8). Whereas, in Gospel according to Matthew
Jesus is straightforward. He is expressive does not care to be kept a secret. In addition, Matthew
portrayal of Jesus is more forgiving while Marks portrayal of Jesus is based on the influence. For
example, in Matthew 8:23 27 while there is a storm coming his disciples show their belief in his
power by not questioning him. Whereas, in Mark 4:35 41 the disciples question Jesus not
understanding his power. This shows that Matthew portrayed Jesus as being powerful and the faith
of the disciples to be strong differing from

  • 2. What Are The Major Challenges Facing Homeless Families While many consider homelessness to vary in meaning, I consider homelessness to be when one lives out in the elements of mother nature, no shelter at all. For this reason, no Beth and her children were not homeless, they had protection from the elements. Major challenges that confront professionals working with homeless families are: keeping in contact with the familyand getting the best resources for them. The first objective to working with a homeless family would be to get them stable living conditions, a permanent address. With this, a professional would have an easier time at getting the necessary resources this family needs. Such as, the necessities of life, food and shelter. Resources which might help the homeless are: The HUD exchange, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Downward Spiral Analysis In 1994, Nine Inch Nails released a dark, desolate album called The Downward Spiral. The songs are known to alternate violently between too low volumes with sweet melody (along with that soft ragged voice characteristic of grunge) and too high volumes with many layers of white noise, screaming, and distortion layered over hard rock instrumentals (Gold). The message of the album is as disturbing as the audio: It tracks the narrator s path of self destruction through attempting to find satisfaction in religion, sex, and drug abuse ( Interview ). The album, while rife with emotional significance on its own, acts as both a prophecy and a cry for help. It followed a junkie s painful lifestyle, the addiction and abuse functioning solely as a metaphor for Reznor s internal strife ( Interview ). But soon after releasing The Downward Spiral, Reznor would turn to drugs and alcohol, later surviving a heroin overdose in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first lyric sets the tone for the whole song: I hurt myself today/To see if I still feel . That first verse later goes on to describe the narrator s usage of drugs (likely heroin): The needle tears a hole/The old familiar sting . The verse as a whole describes a sense of hopelessness: the man hurt himself (either indirectly through drugs or by actually inflicting pain), uses the pain and high to try to forget his situation, but apparently still remembers everything. The narrator is disgusted with how everything has turned out, and asks in a refrain, What have I become? He is miserable, and considers his life and accomplishments (his empire of dirt ) worthless. To mark the very end of this sorrowful soliloquy, Reznor softly adds If I could start again/ A million miles away / I would keep myself/ I would find a way . • 4. Rhetorical Techniques In Billy Joel s The Nylon Curtain While the term authored is traditionally applied to literary works, the term can be used in a broader sense to refer to any piece which employs rhetorical devices in order to serve a specific purpose or put forth a specific message. In terms of an audio album, the cover artwork is the first part a listener is exposed to and can be expected to pique that person s curiosity so that they are led to learn more about or buy the album. The artwork created by Christopher Austopchuk for Billy Joel s album The Nylon Curtain exemplifies this concept of authoring as the scene he uses both draws one s interest when first seen and embodies a part of the social commentary presented through the lyrics of the album. The cover of The Nylon Curtain presents a bleak view of the American Dream, with an illustration of a line of houses, all exactly the same: two stories, an attached garage, and a car inside the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title brings to mind the historical scene in which the album was released due to the relation to the figurative Iron Curtain which divided Europe at the time. With the Cold War continuing and the recent loss of the Vietnam War, the title contributed to the dreary image which the cover paints for America at the time. This reference to the conflict at the time further appeals to the sympathies of the audience, with many opposing the war efforts which were ongoing for decades. Because of this, they would likely have identified with both the title and the songs on the album which voiced opposition to the war in Vietnam and spoke of the suffering caused by it. This use of pathos would lead one to be curious about the meaning behind the title if they were to see the album in a record store, advancing one main purpose of the cover artwork: to lead one to want to buy the ... He was a lonely Whig from Illinois and struggled to find many political allies because he spoke out against the Mexican American War. The main reason for the Common Agricultural policy was to make Agriculture a self sufficient entity in The European Union. Vega Tarleton State University Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism The acts of terrorism can affect the lives of many people and is not limited to those who receive physical scaring, but also people who have an emotional connection to those who are injured, and quite possibly an entire nation. To distinguish between domestic and international terrorismone must first define terrorism. It seems from region to region there are slight variations of what qualifies as terrorism. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of or social objectives (FBI Terrorism 2002 2005). The Federal Bureau of Investigation further distinguishes terrorism by dividing them into two distinct categories: Domestic and International terrorism. Domestic Terrorism is categorized by the FBI as occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. These acts are violent in nature and aim toward the intimidation of a government and its people. Domestic and International terrorism can also be further distinguished by considering the origin of the individuals or groups who commit the acts. Although, countless readers of Comfort me with Apples would suggest that the story is centralized by another theme, many would agree that the theme of death in the story showcases how different characters cope with death and the effects it has on the human condition, by examining how George coped with the death of his wife, how death affected the Zamora family and how the bayou represented death in every aspect when portrayed. • 30. Henry Turner Movie Essay Sigmund Freud was the first psychologist to suggest that everyone has a large unconscious. He also identified three parts of the personality: the id, ego, and superego. Freud said that the id operates on pleasure principle , the ego operates on reality principle , and the superego operates on moral principle . A great showcase of the different parts of the personality can be found within the movie Regarding Henry. In this movie Henry Turner falls victim to an armed man in his local convenience store. After the accident Henry s personality, and life in general, undergoes a drastic change. In my opinion, Henry s natural state is his id. In this movie, Henry Turner appears to be largely controlled by his id. One of the first big examples of this is when he leaves the house late at night by himself to go purchase cigarettes. Henry goes out at a dangerous hour because he feels the need for a cigarette and this is what results in him being shot. Another example of him using his id is when he lashes out at his caretaker, Bradley. Henry loves Bradley but when Bradley tries to tell him that it s time to go back home Henry is overcome by emotions and lashes out. He screams at Bradley, which is very out of... After the accident, his natural state is definitely his superego. This film helps to show how easily our personalities can be affected by certain events. Gender roles are a set of societal norms dictating the types of behaviors which are generally considered acceptable, appropriate, or desirable for people based on their actual or perceived sex or sexuality. The concept of genderroles is based on certain male and female stereotypes, which has been constructed through history. In order to understand why gender inequality is present within society, we must first understand how gender became a category for human beings to be classified. Eric Wolf (1923 1999) describes culture as a self generating and self propelling mental apparatus of norms and rules for behavior . Culture involves habits and symbols, which produce ideas that allow individuals to separate or unite themselves. The 19th century model of unilineal evolution emerges through the theories of various anthropologists. This model seeks to critique societies and cultures through a teleology that moves from primitive to civilized societies. Through this model, we see ideas formulated by James Ferguson (1959 present) and Edward Tylor (1832 1917). Ferguson states there are no higher or lowers societies, however, Tylor views civilization as higher and lower forms through the use of culture. He holds to the idea that civilization and culture are identical. There are not different civilizations, just different amounts of culture within a society. Charles Darwin (1809 1882) enforced the ideology that women are biologically inferior to men. This was thought largely due to the idea that men must prove themselves physically and intellectually against other men in competition for women. Whereas, women must be superior to a man largely in the case of physical attraction. Franz Boas (1858 1942) challenged unilineal evolution and argued that Darwin s work wasn t teleological. In most cases persons of that age are capable of providing for themselves and if necessary, a child. People under the age should not be allowed legally to participate in such an activity that requires adult judgment and responsibilities, however, it should not affect their ability to receive contraceptives or sexual health care. Early Intervention To avoid a crisis, you need to be able to observe or assess the situation in such a way as to notice when it is beginning to develop into a crisis (Saskatchewan Polytechnic, 2016, p. 29). There are some basic elements of crisis. For instance, they occur quakily, unexpected and follows specific phases. Citizens of any government are often subject to unjust, unreasonable legislation that they are required to follow but are they? In fact, in order to uphold a government that reflects the will of the people, citizens must protest unfair laws by deliberately disobeying them. This method often results in immediate change, would help to ban immoral laws that can be dangerous to some groups of people, and upholds the entire idea of a fair government: to let the people rule. The first major benefit of a group of people disobeying a law is that it usually results in quick change, either by the government receding to the wishes of the people or by more people joining the movement in order to overthrow the government, which creates huge change. One historic example of this was when some of the American colonists refused to obey the Intolerable Acts that Britain imposed on them as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. Through analyzing the affair and poor choices of an infidelious husband and the false obliviousness and thoughtless decisions of a young woman, the true variances between the mediums can and will be found. In regards to Tom Buchanan s status as a careless person , the film certainly has a more accurate portrayal than the novel. Tom s affair with Myrtle plays a pivotal role in this, as the way he goes about going to his New York apartment with her has significant differences between both formats of the narrative. In the book, Tom makes it a point to sit in a separate car from Myrtle on the train into New York to avoid suspicion from any East Eggers, who may be riding on it as well; In the movie, however, it simply cuts away from the front of George Wilson s garage to inside the apartment, with no reference to careful organizing on Tom s part, nor any effort at all to keep themselves secret.
