Essay on Legal Aspects of Fire Protection
The use of social media within the fire service is a controversial civil issue in which parties on both sides may feel as though his or her rights have
been violated. Many fire and emergency services organizations, nationwide have established policies that prohibit and/or restrict the use of social
media by employees, due to the growing problems associated with its use. Social networking is a relatively new issue to the legal system with
judicial opinions that vary in wide degree. Social networking has become a tool that can convey a positive or negative image upon a fire department,
therefore posting must be performed in good taste as to not convey negative public opinion upon the fire department and its members. A social media
post that...show more content...
A legal opinion on a social networking site may be viewed favorably, as was the case in Hampton, Virginia, where a sheriff's department employee
was terminated for "liking" his boss's opponent during a recent election (Knibbs, 2013). "In 2012, The U.S. District Court of Eastern Virginia
didn't buy their argument that the termination violated their First Amendment rights, and dismissed the case; however an appeals judge viewed
the case differently and awarded in favor of the employee (Knibbs, 2013). The likely reasoning in this case was the social media posting caused no
harm to any party and the employees right to free speech was infringed upon as his boss did not like his support of his opponent in the election.
The larger issue was likely the right to vote or support a candidate rather than the social media post. Fire and emergency services regulation of social
media use does not violate a person's right to free speech. Policies are created to protect the department and its members from negative public opinion
and the possibility of legal recourse from the postings. A person has the right to privacy and information, such as health information, social security
numbers, and so on, is protected under state and federal laws. One who chooses to post on social media should consider the impact such a post may
have on his or herself, the department, as well as

I. Introduction Fires are one of the few calamities of which we can prevent. Besides the efforts of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the passing
of the Revised Fire Code or RA 9514 in 2008, fires are still one of the leading man–made disasters in the Philippines. In 2011, there had already been
several fires like the incident last February 7 which left 3000...show more content...
The new Fire Code also contains provisions of administrative sanctions that can be given to BFP personnel who are not properly implementing their
jobs (Dollente, 2011).
"Fire" is defined as a "rapid burning of a combustible material with the evolution of heat and usually accompanied by flame, and is used by human
beings. Uncontrolled fire remains to be one of the major causes of death and property damage in today's society. Fires do happen on a frequent basis in
industry and other arenas" (Schneid, 2000:9). Schneid talks mainly on preparedness when these incidents happen and some strategies about other
disasters as well.
March is the Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines. The BFP announced several fire safety precautions to help manage fires. Despite these
precautions, the BFP stated that most establishments, notably in Baguio City, are fire safety violators. In relation to this, there have been a series of
fires here in Metro Manila, notable of which was the fire that engulfed the houses in Agham Road last February (Dar, 2011). The problem of fire
during these months seems to occur every year.

Fire Prevention Essay
Fire prevention is a term being heard more and more today in America. It is starting to become a standard in today's fire departments. Fire has the
ability to keep us warm and also has the ability to make us homeless. As we grow as community and the technology changes, Fire Prevention needs to
be made more of a necessity in our homes today. More homes are being built out of lighter material along with being built closer and closer together.
Each can lead to extreme destruction, homes being lost, people being displaced, and even death. Why should we not protect homes and defend them
against an enemy that can attack at any minute? Fire prevention needs to start in the home and then be carried onward in our lives. There are very

Today we have moved beyond young men in street rattling wooden noise makers, technology has given us a new kind of fire alarm. There are 2 main
kinds of fire alarms: ionization and photoelectric. Ionization alarms sound more quickly when a flaming, fast moving fire occurs, photoelectric alarms
are quicker at sensing smoldering, smoky fires. There are also combination smoke alarms that combine ionization and photoelectric into one unit,
called dual sensor smoke alarms. Most of the fire alarms are powered by batteries which in order for the alarm to work, need to changed regularly.
They provide early detection, and thus warning, of the fire. But they take no action on the fire itself.
Wet stuff on the Red stuff Something that was introduced in commercial buildings and places of large quantities of people, have made their way into
our homes. Fire sprinklers are being installed into residential buildings as a normal item. In a report by The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, sprinklers
typically reduce chances of dying in a fire and the average property loss by one–half to two–thirds compared to where sprinklers are not present. The
same website notes that if both fire alarms and fire sprinkler are installed in a

If possible, wet the end first to cool it off. When you put the cigarette into the ashtray, make sure that it is completely in and stable so it won't fall out
and onto something that could catch on fire.
Don't overload outlets. If you can, unplug anything that you're not using to help clear some outlet space. If you do have to have electronics plugged in,
distribute them instead of putting them all into one outlet.
Expert Insight * Run out of the house immediately if there is a fire. Don't run around trying to grab valuables or other items, and absolutely don't run
back in to get anything. Get to your neighbors house to call 911.
Have multiple escape routes out of your home. If you don't plan one and there is an emergency, you may get disoriented on where you should go.
Having multiple plans set up could help you to get out alive.
Stop, drop and roll if your clothes catch on fire. Running will only make the situation worse.
Misconceptions
* Many people think that a fire won't ever happen to them, especially in their own homes, but there is always that chance even if you don't want to
acknowledge it. Instead of being in doubt that it will ever happen, you're better off taking precautions just in case. If a fire were to happen, it's better to
be prepared instead of being caught off guard

Argumentative Essay On Controlled Fire
There is quite a debate when it comes to the idea of controlled fires to protect nature. Many agree that the benefits out way the risks but many also
believe that a controlled fire is too dangerous to take that chance. If proper steps are taken, the outcome of the process is not only safe but also
effective. There are many reasons that a controlled fire is very necessary to our environment. It is not only beneficial to nature but also to people as
well. For example, many farmers will have controlled fires to improve the land for their livestock. When the land is burned off, new growth will begin
to take its place which in turn becomes better "food" for the animals. The new growth is richer and has more nutrients than the old, dried

Some of the safety hazards that are listed in Chapter 7 Fire Prevention would be electrical fires, flammable liquids, poor housekeeping, ingestion,
incorrect use of fire extinguishers, bleeding, choking, and forklifts. There are many dangers in the work we engage in every day but its rewarding if
we follow the right safety rules. These are some of the safety hazards but there are many more that are not listed. The ones listed are the ones I feel
most important in the workplace. These are listed in Chapter 7 because they are potential hazards for the following reasons: electrical fires are caused
by defective wiring or overloading a...show more content...
A fire prevention plan is mandatory for most businesses because it can save lives as it provides essential rules to follow in case of an emergency. A fire
prevention plan must be in writing, be kept in workplace and made available for employees to review. A fire prevention plan must include: a list of all
major fire hazard, proper handling and storage procedures for hazardous materials, potential ignition sources and their control and type of fire
prevention necessary to control each hazard. Also it should list the name of employees responsible for maintaining equipment to prevent or control
sources of ignition of fires. Proper route of escape toward nearest exit is also something to keep in mind. Elevators are off limits because if a fire is
burning it could burn up some important wires to the elevator and you would not want to be caught in an elevator.
In conclusion I can use all of this research I have learned in my personal work places in the future. Now that I know all of the safety measures I
will enforce them at the workplace. Safety saves employers money, improves productivity, and reduces legal costs. I am not in the field yet but I
know about all of the safety measures that are needed to know so when I do step into the field I will be overly prepared. I hear about a lot of people
and there accidents and what they could have done to prevent the incursion.

Off Grid Fire Protection System
Living off the grid means you may not be close to fire protection when there is a fire that is threatening your home or property. A great way to be
prepared to put out a fire is to have a protection system set up and ready to go. Making your own off grid fire protection system can be done in many
ways.
The best way to set up your own off grid fire protection system is to set up tanks that will be filled with water. A water pump that is motor driven and
some hoses are all that are needed for this project. Fuel is also necessary to run the pump.
One thing to keep in mind about an off grid fire protection system is the water pressure. The pump that is used will dictate the amount of pressure you
have available. A high pressure pump is the

After a recent fire at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ killed three students who did not respond to what they thought was a false alarm,
officials at Oswego State University are being especially careful when it comes to the issue of fire safety. This semester there is a new policy
regarding the confiscation of items considered being hazardous. The policy states that any items that are found and have the potential to cause a fire,
such as candles, incense, and certain appliances like microwaves, and sandwich makers, will be confiscated and not returned to the students they were
taken from. Under the old policy students were able to get the items back at the end of the year. Around...show more content...
For the students who purposely ignore
them, it is not the job of their resident advisors to check the rooms for those left inside. For students who are either hearing impaired or heavy sleepers
there are strobe lights available for their alarms.
Residence Hall Fire Safety is a serious issue because of the population and potential for injury and loss that could occur as a result of a fire. In
Oswego State University there are fire safety rules in which every student is expected to know and follow. Each residence hall conducts periodic
fire drills so that residents can learn the proper evacuation procedures and escape routes. Failure to do so is a violation of residence hall rules and can
result in disciplinary action. The procedures and routes are posted on the inside of each door in resident hall rooms and throughout the building. All
students should know the location of all the exits on their floor and how to reach them in case of darkness.
Every hall is equipped with heat and smoke sensors, fire extinguishers and fire alarms. When a student moves into a residence hall they should
familiarize themselves with the location of this equipment. Tampering with any of the fire protection equipment is prohibited. Intentional activation of
alarm systems for any reason other than to report a fire is strictly prohibited.

Use of Technology in Fire Safety Education
Every year 5,000 lives are taken due to fire in the homes. Many of these deaths may have been prevented. Fire not only claims lives, it's destroys
property and injuries many. Thankfully, there is something we can do.
Over the years, the growth in technology used in to educate about fire safety has increased greatly. We now have many different ways to reach people
of all ages. Some of this information includes: increased importance of the smoke detector, fire safety houses, fire safety videos, educational websites,
high school cadet programs, and fire education equipment. All of these are very helpful and successful ways of teaching about fire safety....show more

Fire safety houses also make appearances at elementary schools and county fairs to help educate children. They are very beneficial to children and
parents as well.
Fire safety videos have a great appeal to children. Videos such as, Be Cool about Fire Safety, include cartoons, songs, and voices of celebrities. Kids
have fun singing along, while learning about fire safety. Sayings such as, "fall and crawl", "don't hide, go outside", and of course, "stop drop and roll"
are highlighted throughout the video. It's a great way to reach children. Not to mention there are hundreds of educational fire safety videos out there.
Major insurance companies have begun to produce free videos, such as All–State's "Be Cool about Fire Safety". Fire protection organizations also offer
fire safety videos. Not all videos are directed towards children however, there are a variety of videos that appeal to all ages.
Campus Firewatch offers a series of videos directed towards College students in dorms, off campus, or in Greek housing. The videos address many
fire threats such as: candles and halogen lamps, as well as many facts about college fire safety. Campus Firewatch has also created magnetic stickers
for college students with sayings such as: "smoke alarms– got batteries?" and "sprinklers get turned on when it's hot".
College students are not the only other audience targeted. The elderly are also in need of fire safety

The Fire Essay
A dark, smoggy night in the middle of winter, chills were running through the rooms of the house, like a ghost silently coming and silently going.
Suddenly, in the distance, there was a faint booming sound like a drum being beaten. The noise soon started to get louder and louder and louder until
all that could be heard was the deafening noise. People from houses along the street ran out in their dressing gowns onto the road and huddled together
to witness a roaring fire devastating the house of a family living nearby. The owners of the house desperately attempted to remove valuable and
sentimental items from the burning wreck, but all was in vain as the glaring fire obliterated their irreplaceable...show more content...
Instead, the entire family lay curled up on the dew–topped grass, huddled together, shivering in the frosty, winter wind. They had managed to get very
few possessions out of the burning wreck, the night before, but the remainder of their belongings had burned away over the silent, yet lively night.
Even though the land itself had been severely damaged, the natural daily events started without delay. Birds were twittering and singing with the
voices of angels, filling the air with the sweet sound of nature. They flew around, rooftop to rooftop at amazing speeds. Their feathers ruffled slightly
in the breeze and, quite often, they sprung around on their tiny, diminutive feet on the lawns of people, living in the area, searching around for any
traces of food for their breakfast.
The staleness of the winter air had slowly begun to fade away as the gentle wind carried it away with the smoke. The sun had now fully risen revealing
all of its beauty. The hills and moors all shone with the intense sunlight and all theliving things in the area woke up to the new day. The horses trotted
out of their stables and galloped around the field, like an early morning ritual.
The victims of the tragedy also eventually woke up, still with the looks of utter disbelief and dismay on

Lastly, the law required installation of fire sprinklers systems on public occupancy and building within the echelon of 150 or more with the exception
of religious places that had existing mounted alarm structure. The biggest contribution of this fire disaster was the ignition of the pyrotechnics in the
backstage and the uneducated patrons on the band 's act or presentation. Some of the decisions making with problems were minor for example of
assistance of untrained staff, delay of egress process, non–existing fire sprinkler systems in the building, inadequate exit fire doors and over the
maximum limit capacity inside the building. If all these major and minor corrective actions were implemented before the show, then this tragedy is
nowhere to be at reported. However, the next article on the World Trade Center (WTC) terrorist bomb attack in 1993, the fire prevention system
suppressed the damage caused by explosion but the evacuation path was not followed correctly due to panic and unfamiliar of the evacuation route.
NFPA studied the incident and developed training to all major cities in the preparation management of facility and improvement of proper emergency
evacuation planning. The plan was among the most effective procedure during the second WTC terrorist attack. The evacuations

Attributes of Fire
It was a bright and sunny day in mid–July, not a cloud in sight. I could feel the intense heat against the back of my neck as I rode my bike along a
remote mountain trail with my friend entail. We were heading back towards the campgrounds after a long day of fun and adventure. As the beautifulsun
set across the horizon I realized that with the setting of the sun came the end to a long day full of energy and livelihood. The very sun that made me
sweat earlier that day gave me the the ability to see and experience my surroundings. The light from the sun granted me the ability to see where I was
going on my bike, as it allows everyone to go about their daily lives with little to no thought whatsoever.
After the sun had set my stomach began to rumble, signalling that dinner time was fast approaching. That night we made a campfire and whipped
up some good ol' fashion hot dogs. As I was eating my hot dog I wondered, why is it that meat must be cooked? Looking at it now, I know that it
has to do with the fact that food is easier to digest when cooked and that humans have evolved to the point where we need cooked food in order to
gain more energy. As hours passed by the sunny summer day became a sheer cold night. The only thing that was keeping all of us warm was the heat
being emitted from the campfire. The campfire brought the whole family together. Many scary as well as funny stories were told that night. It was not
until years later that I realized that a

The Importance Of A-1 Fire Protection
Anyone who runs a business understands the importance of keeping proper industrial fire equipment available on the property. However, simply
conforming to the basic local codes isn't all a person can do to keep employees and customers safe. The experts at A–1 Fire Protection, based in Olive
Branch, MS, understand that being equipped with a state–of–the–art fire suppression system provides business owners with peace of mind. Since 1986,
they've helped clients throughout the tri–state area stay safe.
Here are three reasons why they recommend exceeding the local codes when it comes to being equipped with the right industrial fire equipment:

Descriptive Essay On The Fire
Footsteps
Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha
was one of the civilians that was killed by the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the swinging bridge.
The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest of his body within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of
the fire, but his attempts failed. He decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis James Tacha's body was never
found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to make others disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be
forgotten. The few survivors of the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on that cool summer night.
Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen–year–old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an all–girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her
first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement as she places her last few shirts into her over–filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the camp,
she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, "Camp Rio."
All around her, counselors and campers radiate with joy. No one seems to be vexed that sky is dim from clouds hovering over the earth.
It was now

Essay On Legal Aspects Of Fire Protection

  • 1. Essay on Legal Aspects of Fire Protection The use of social media within the fire service is a controversial civil issue in which parties on both sides may feel as though his or her rights have been violated. Many fire and emergency services organizations, nationwide have established policies that prohibit and/or restrict the use of social media by employees, due to the growing problems associated with its use. Social networking is a relatively new issue to the legal system with judicial opinions that vary in wide degree. Social networking has become a tool that can convey a positive or negative image upon a fire department, therefore posting must be performed in good taste as to not convey negative public opinion upon the fire department and its members. A social media post that...show more content... A legal opinion on a social networking site may be viewed favorably, as was the case in Hampton, Virginia, where a sheriff's department employee was terminated for "liking" his boss's opponent during a recent election (Knibbs, 2013). "In 2012, The U.S. District Court of Eastern Virginia didn't buy their argument that the termination violated their First Amendment rights, and dismissed the case; however an appeals judge viewed the case differently and awarded in favor of the employee (Knibbs, 2013). The likely reasoning in this case was the social media posting caused no harm to any party and the employees right to free speech was infringed upon as his boss did not like his support of his opponent in the election. The larger issue was likely the right to vote or support a candidate rather than the social media post. Fire and emergency services regulation of social media use does not violate a person's right to free speech. Policies are created to protect the department and its members from negative public opinion and the possibility of legal recourse from the postings. A person has the right to privacy and information, such as health information, social security numbers, and so on, is protected under state and federal laws. One who chooses to post on social media should consider the impact such a post may have on his or herself, the department, as well as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Bureau of Fire Protection Essay UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES National College of Public Administration and Governance Diliman, Quezon City PERFORMANCE OF THE BUREAU OF FIRE PROTECTION (BFP): CONTRIBUTIONS TO FIRE MANAGEMENT A proposal submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for PA 199.2 By: Nheo Cervantes Geofel Soriano Adviser: Vicente Mariano September 27, 2011 I. Introduction Fires are one of the few calamities of which we can prevent. Besides the efforts of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the passing of the Revised Fire Code or RA 9514 in 2008, fires are still one of the leading man–made disasters in the Philippines. In 2011, there had already been several fires like the incident last February 7 which left 3000...show more content... The new Fire Code also contains provisions of administrative sanctions that can be given to BFP personnel who are not properly implementing their jobs (Dollente, 2011). "Fire" is defined as a "rapid burning of a combustible material with the evolution of heat and usually accompanied by flame, and is used by human beings. Uncontrolled fire remains to be one of the major causes of death and property damage in today's society. Fires do happen on a frequent basis in

March is the Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines. The BFP announced several fire safety precautions to help manage fires. Despite these precautions, the BFP stated that most establishments, notably in Baguio City, are fire safety violators. In relation to this, there have been a series of fires here in Metro Manila, notable of which was the fire that engulfed the houses in Agham Road last February (Dar, 2011). The problem of fire during these months seems to occur every year. • 4. Fire Prevention Essay Fire prevention is a term being heard more and more today in America. It is starting to become a standard in today's fire departments. Fire has the ability to keep us warm and also has the ability to make us homeless. As we grow as community and the technology changes, Fire Prevention needs to be made more of a necessity in our homes today. More homes are being built out of lighter material along with being built closer and closer together. Each can lead to extreme destruction, homes being lost, people being displaced, and even death. Why should we not protect homes and defend them against an enemy that can attack at any minute? Fire prevention needs to start in the home and then be carried onward in our lives. There are very ...show more content... Today we have moved beyond young men in street rattling wooden noise makers, technology has given us a new kind of fire alarm. There are 2 main kinds of fire alarms: ionization and photoelectric. Ionization alarms sound more quickly when a flaming, fast moving fire occurs, photoelectric alarms are quicker at sensing smoldering, smoky fires. There are also combination smoke alarms that combine ionization and photoelectric into one unit, called dual sensor smoke alarms. Most of the fire alarms are powered by batteries which in order for the alarm to work, need to changed regularly. They provide early detection, and thus warning, of the fire. But they take no action on the fire itself. Wet stuff on the Red stuff Something that was introduced in commercial buildings and places of large quantities of people, have made their way into our homes. Fire sprinklers are being installed into residential buildings as a normal item. In a report by The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, sprinklers typically reduce chances of dying in a fire and the average property loss by one–half to two–thirds compared to where sprinklers are not present. The same website notes that if both fire alarms and fire sprinkler are installed in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

If possible, wet the end first to cool it off. When you put the cigarette into the ashtray, make sure that it is completely in and stable so it won't fall out and onto something that could catch on fire. Don't overload outlets. If you can, unplug anything that you're not using to help clear some outlet space. If you do have to have electronics plugged in, distribute them instead of putting them all into one outlet. Expert Insight * Run out of the house immediately if there is a fire. Don't run around trying to grab valuables or other items, and absolutely don't run back in to get anything. Misconceptions * Many people think that a fire won't ever happen to them, especially in their own homes, but there is always that chance even if you don't want to acknowledge it. Instead of being in doubt that it will ever happen, you're better off taking precautions just in case. If a fire were to happen, it's better to be prepared instead of being caught off guard How to Prevent a Fire in a Home X

  • 7. Argumentative Essay On Controlled Fire There is quite a debate when it comes to the idea of controlled fires to protect nature. Many agree that the benefits out way the risks but many also believe that a controlled fire is too dangerous to take that chance. If proper steps are taken, the outcome of the process is not only safe but also effective. There are many reasons that a controlled fire is very necessary to our environment. It is not only beneficial to nature but also to people as well. For example, many farmers will have controlled fires to improve the land for their livestock. When the land is burned off, new growth will begin to take its place which in turn becomes better "food" for the animals. The new growth is richer and has more nutrients than the old, dried Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Gasch Intro Health and Safety OSHA February 5, 2013 Learning Journal #1 Some of the safety hazards that are listed in Chapter 7 Fire Prevention would be electrical fires, flammable liquids, poor housekeeping, ingestion, incorrect use of fire extinguishers, bleeding, choking, and forklifts. There are many dangers in the work we engage in every day but its rewarding if we follow the right safety rules. These are some of the safety hazards but there are many more that are not listed. The ones listed are the ones I feel most important in the workplace. These are listed in Chapter 7 because they are potential hazards for the following reasons: electrical fires are caused by defective wiring or overloading a...show more content... A fire prevention plan is mandatory for most businesses because it can save lives as it provides essential rules to follow in case of an emergency. A fire prevention plan must be in writing, be kept in workplace and made available for employees to review. A fire prevention plan must include: a list of all major fire hazard, proper handling and storage procedures for hazardous materials, potential ignition sources and their control and type of fire prevention necessary to control each hazard. Also it should list the name of employees responsible for maintaining equipment to prevent or control sources of ignition of fires. Proper route of escape toward nearest exit is also something to keep in mind. Elevators are off limits because if a fire is burning it could burn up some important wires to the elevator and you would not want to be caught in an elevator. In conclusion I can use all of this research I have learned in my personal work places in the future. Now that I know all of the safety measures I will enforce them at the workplace. Safety saves employers money, improves productivity, and reduces legal costs. I am not in the field yet but I know about all of the safety measures that are needed to know so when I do step into the field I will be overly prepared. I hear about a lot of people and there accidents and what they could have done to prevent the incursion.

  • 10. Off Grid Fire Protection System Living off the grid means you may not be close to fire protection when there is a fire that is threatening your home or property. A great way to be prepared to put out a fire is to have a protection system set up and ready to go. Making your own off grid fire protection system can be done in many ways. The best way to set up your own off grid fire protection system is to set up tanks that will be filled with water. A water pump that is motor driven and some hoses are all that are needed for this project. Fuel is also necessary to run the pump. One thing to keep in mind about an off grid fire protection system is the water pressure. The pump that is used will dictate the amount of pressure you have available. Fire Safety Essay Fire Safety Essay After a recent fire at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ killed three students who did not respond to what they thought was a false alarm, officials at Oswego State University are being especially careful when it comes to the issue of fire safety. This semester there is a new policy regarding the confiscation of items considered being hazardous. The policy states that any items that are found and have the potential to cause a fire, such as candles, incense, and certain appliances like microwaves, and sandwich makers, will be confiscated and not returned to the students they were taken from. Under the old policy students were able to get the items back at the end of the year. Around...show more content... For the students who purposely ignore them, it is not the job of their resident advisors to check the rooms for those left inside. For students who are either hearing impaired or heavy sleepers there are strobe lights available for their alarms. Residence Hall Fire Safety is a serious issue because of the population and potential for injury and loss that could occur as a result of a fire. In Oswego State University there are fire safety rules in which every student is expected to know and follow. Each residence hall conducts periodic fire drills so that residents can learn the proper evacuation procedures and escape routes. Failure to do so is a violation of residence hall rules and can result in disciplinary action. The procedures and routes are posted on the inside of each door in resident hall rooms and throughout the building. All students should know the location of all the exits on their floor and how to reach them in case of darkness. Every hall is equipped with heat and smoke sensors, fire extinguishers and fire alarms. When a student moves into a residence hall they should familiarize themselves with the location of this equipment. Tampering with any of the fire protection equipment is prohibited. Intentional activation of alarm systems for any reason other than to report a fire is strictly prohibited. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. The Fire Essay A dark, smoggy night in the middle of winter, chills were running through the rooms of the house, like a ghost silently coming and silently going. Suddenly, in the distance, there was a faint booming sound like a drum being beaten. The noise soon started to get louder and louder and louder until all that could be heard was the deafening noise. People from houses along the street ran out in their dressing gowns onto the road and huddled together to witness a roaring fire devastating the house of a family living nearby. The owners of the house desperately attempted to remove valuable and sentimental items from the burning wreck, but all was in vain as the glaring fire obliterated their irreplaceable...show more content... Instead, the entire family lay curled up on the dew–topped grass, huddled together, shivering in the frosty, winter wind. They had managed to get very few possessions out of the burning wreck, the night before, but the remainder of their belongings had burned away over the silent, yet lively night. Even though the land itself had been severely damaged, the natural daily events started without delay. Birds were twittering and singing with the voices of angels, filling the air with the sweet sound of nature. They flew around, rooftop to rooftop at amazing speeds. Their feathers ruffled slightly in the breeze and, quite often, they sprung around on their tiny, diminutive feet on the lawns of people, living in the area, searching around for any traces of food for their breakfast. The staleness of the winter air had slowly begun to fade away as the gentle wind carried it away with the smoke. The sun had now fully risen revealing all of its beauty. The hills and moors all shone with the intense sunlight and all theliving things in the area woke up to the new day. The horses trotted out of their stables and galloped around the field, like an early morning ritual. The victims of the tragedy also eventually woke up, still with the looks of utter disbelief and dismay on Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The biggest contribution of this fire disaster was the ignition of the pyrotechnics in the backstage and the uneducated patrons on the band 's act or presentation. Some of the decisions making with problems were minor for example of assistance of untrained staff, delay of egress process, non–existing fire sprinkler systems in the building, inadequate exit fire doors and over the maximum limit capacity inside the building. If all these major and minor corrective actions were implemented before the show, then this tragedy is nowhere to be at reported. However, the next article on the World Trade Center (WTC) terrorist bomb attack in 1993, the fire prevention system suppressed the damage caused by explosion but the evacuation path was not followed correctly due to panic and unfamiliar of the evacuation route. The thermographer and the qualified electricians opening the panels should follow NFPA 70E– Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. This could include the need for arc flash analysis, training, and specific personal protective equipment (PPE) for all personnel who will be standing in front of open, live electrical panels. [See NFPA 70E– Tables 130.7 (c)(9) (a), (c)(10), (c)(11) for details on PPE required] Infrared Scan Infrared (IR) scans should be performed while electrical equipment is under load, preferably peak load conditions, but not less than 40% of the rated load of the electrical equipment being inspected. • 20. Descriptive Essay On A Fire Attributes of Fire It was a bright and sunny day in mid–July, not a cloud in sight. I could feel the intense heat against the back of my neck as I rode my bike along a remote mountain trail with my friend entail. We were heading back towards the campgrounds after a long day of fun and adventure. As the beautifulsun set across the horizon I realized that with the setting of the sun came the end to a long day full of energy and livelihood. The very sun that made me sweat earlier that day gave me the the ability to see and experience my surroundings. The light from the sun granted me the ability to see where I was going on my bike, as it allows everyone to go about their daily lives with little to no thought whatsoever. After the sun had set my stomach began to rumble, signalling that dinner time was fast approaching. That night we made a campfire and whipped up some good ol' fashion hot dogs. As I was eating my hot dog I wondered, why is it that meat must be cooked? Looking at it now, I know that it has to do with the fact that food is easier to digest when cooked and that humans have evolved to the point where we need cooked food in order to gain more energy. As hours passed by the sunny summer day became a sheer cold night. The only thing that was keeping all of us warm was the heat being emitted from the campfire. The campfire brought the whole family together. Many scary as well as funny stories were told that night. It was not until years later that I realized that a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 22. Descriptive Essay On The Fire Footsteps Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha was one of the civilians that was killed by the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the swinging bridge. The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest of his body within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of the fire, but his attempts failed. He decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis James Tacha's body was never found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to make others disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be forgotten. The few survivors of the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on that cool summer night. Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen–year–old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an all–girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement as she places her last few shirts into her over–filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the camp, she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, "Camp Rio." All around her, counselors and campers radiate with joy. No one seems to be vexed that sky is dim from clouds hovering over the earth. It was now Get more content on HelpWriting.net
