Impact of the Advancement of Computer Technology Almost everyone in the world uses computers
today, but they were not always a large part of society. The advancement of computers have been
substatially crucial in changing how the world is connected together. Computers are considered to be
one of the most important inventions ever. Computers have allowed technology to become what is
in the modern day world. This computer technology has been so helpful and has been able to create
new and better equipment. Almost everything in the world today is connected together through the
works and advancements of computers. Ever since the beginning of the world 's existence, man has
been trying to forge ahead and better himself. Throughout history man has pushed to achieve that
which had always been considered unachievable. Some have disreguarded these advancements and
some have even tried to destroy it, yet it still seems to grow more and more. At the point today,
technology not only allows everyone to have better lives, it also gives people the opportunity for
global unity and advancement. Some could say that the abacus was the first computer, but the first
computer that resembles most of today 's modern technology would be the analytical engine. It was
created and designed by the British mathematician Charles Babbage. Before the computer, everything
had to be computed by hand by a person that sat around alll day, adding and subtracting

The History of Computers
Whether you know it or not you depend on computers for almost every thing you do in modern
day life. From the second you get up in the morning to the second you go to sleep computer are
tied into what you do and use in some way. It is tied in to you life in the most obvious and obscure
ways. Take for example you wake up in the morning usually to a digital alarm clock. You start you
car it uses computers the second you turn the key (General Motors is the largest buyers of computer
components in the world). You pick up the phone it uses computers. No mater how hard you try you
can get away from them you can't.
It is inevitable. Many people think of computers as a new invention, and in reality it is very old.

When it was finished in 1950 it became the fastest computer in the world.17 It was built by the
National Bureau of standards on the campus of UCLA. It was names the
National Bureau of Standards Western Automatic Computer or the SWAC. It could be said that the
SWAC set the standards for computers for later up to present times.18 It was because the had all the
same primary units. It had a storage device, a internal clock, an input output device, and arithmetic
logic unit that consisting of a control and arithmetic unit. These computers were considered first
generation computers (1942 – 1958). In 1948 John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Schockley
of Bell labs file for the firs patent on the transistor.19 This invention would foundation for second
generation computers (1958 – 1964). Computers of the second generation were smaller(about the
size of a piano now) and much more quicker because of the new inventions of its time. Computers
used the much smaller transistor over the bulky vacuum tubes. Another invention which influenced
second generation computers and every generation after it was the discovery of magnetic core
memory. Now magnetic tapes and disks were used to store programs instead of being stored in the
computer. This way the computer could be used for many operations without totally being
reprogrammed or rewired to do another task. All you had to do was pop in another disk. The third
generation(1964 – 1970) was when computers

Many people consider the computer to be a once in a lifetime invention. Almost everywhere one
goes and looks, there is always a computer. They are found in basically every household in
America. It is such a powerful device that it changes the way people run their lives. The question
is, are computers all good or are there some downfalls to this incredible gadget? In order to answer
this question, it is best for one to know the history, components, careers, and the dark side of
computers. There is no simple answer to the question, "Who invented the computer?" Many
inventors, through the course of time have contributed to the invention of the computer. It is quite
hard to pinpoint the first computer, but most scholars say the abacus...show more content...
Computer software is the programs designed to perform a specific task. It works along with
hardware to help the computer run. It is the opposite of computer hardware in that it is not
physically tangible. There are two main different types of frequently used software. One is
system software and the other is application software (Swedin and Ferro 40). The system software
is commonly referred to as the operating system. All computers have an operating system. It is
used for starting the computer and running all the application software, along with other things.
Some common operating systems are Windows, Linux and Macintosh (40). Then there is the
application software as mentioned before. Applications are computer programs that are designed
for a specific task. Some typical examples of application software are word processors, media
players and computer games (Swedin and Ferro 86). So all in all, computer hardware and software
goes hand in hand in making the computer to be what it is today. Computers and the Internet are
not going away any time soon. "In fact computer careers are one of the fastest growing segments in
the market right now. Everybody needs technology, everybody needs people that know how to make
computers work and understands how it impacts the business" (Abbott). It is true that many
computer related jobs are going overseas, and most of those jobs are being taken by

Essay The Advancement of Computers
Imagine if the computer was never invented. The world would not have the advances in technology
or the multiple devices that we now take for granted. Also take the time to imagine how hard it
would be to live in a world without a computer it would be harder to store and process information.
If it were not for many inventors the world might not have had the modern day computer that people
all over the world use. The many advances in software that we need for school work such as the
Microsoft Programs and the internet. Also we would not have any of the devices that we use
almost every day such as a laptop computer, cell phone or an mp3 player. Sherry Turkel Said

he improved his schemes and prospered more and more with each Z prototype (2). In 1939, Zuse
completed the Z2; it was the first fully operational electro–mechanical computer device (2). Zuse
completed the Z3 computer in 1941. The model consisted of recycled materials that were donated
by his fellow university staff and some of his students (2). This was the world's first electronic,
fully programmable digital computer (2). Zuse used old movie film to store his programs and data
for the Z3, instead of using paper tape or punched cards; but unfortunately paper was in short
supply in Germany during the war (2). Also Zuse was unable to convince the Nazi government to
support his work for a computer based on electronic valves, the Germans assumed they were close to
winning the War and thought that they had no need to support any of Zuse's further research in
computer technology (2). Unfortunately for Zuse his Z1 through Z3 models were destroyed during
the war, and later Zuse left for ZГјrich to finish his work on the Z4, by smuggling the Z4 from
Germany in a military truck (2). He completed and installed the Z4 at the Applied Mathematics
Division of ZГјrich's Federal Polytechnical Institute (2). Zuse later moved back to Germany to form
a computer company called Zuse KG for the construction and marketing of his designs. Zuse later
rebuilt models of the Z3 in 1960 and rebuilt the Z1 in 1984 (3).

Since the beginning of time, humans have thought and made many inventions. Repeatedly the
newer one is better than the older. Our minds have created many remarkable things, however the
best invention we ever created is the computer. computers are constantly growing and becoming
better every day. Every day computers are capable of doing new things. Even though computers
have helped us a lot in our daily lives, many jobs have been lost because of it, now the computer
can do all of the things a man can do in seconds! Everything in the world relies on computers and if

The computer can't work without a full input, but, our minds can by making analytical assumptions
about problems. A person can note advanced and more decisive solutions to a problem using all
the methods he/she can come up with. we can think of many solutions to the everyday problems
we get, while the only thing a computer can do it give an answer from the given input and to that
over and over again (s01821169 1). Ten years ago, Garry Kasparov the greatest chessmind alive lost
against the IBM supercomputer program Deep Blue. that event created a change in the relationship
between man and computer. In nearly every board game and card game, the computer is dominant.
Computers have superior command of almost all board games. Why is that? It is because of the near
flawless strategy that the computer has that man is not intellectually capable of. Every time when its
computers turn, the board position is sent to a databank the gives the best move to be executed next.
Computer intelligence has been one sci–fi's principal themes for a long time. Experts in the field of
artificial intelligence say that bots will sometime emerge far beyond the intellectual and physical
capacities of humans. There is a game in which computers have never been able to beat a man that
is "Go", the elderly Chinese board game. It is the oldest board game ever made, and the only game
at which mankind was always the champion. Go was created by an emperor that wanted his fatuous

In the 20th century, people saw sufficiently of important variations in the life to recall forever in
their life. Most changes were technology progressions due to countless inventions, which even today
changing forms of ordinary life of society. In my view, the most extraordinary invention which can
be recalled in history is invention of computers. Because, computers prejudiced our office, systems,
education and science.
First after occupying to our life, computers have developed one of the main component of office
workers. Due to computers industries are saving a countless deal of money and increasing
efficiency of office workers. For example, computer is a good device to achieve data storage of
businesses and thus can help to decrease the huge amount of paper which are required for ordinary
working issues. Also, they can be used to improve efficiency in areas such as word dispensation,
data organization and data access. Therefore, it is foretold that computers will remain as an
important device of office staff for a long time.
Second, education is one of the most significant influences of expansion and due to computers
education system of nations are refining. After development of computer, quality of education has
been improved and students has begun to study in collaborating ways such as online performances,
group knowledge through the Internet and taking online sequences, which are obtainable by great
universities such as Harvard, MIT and Stanford. The use of computers

The Invention of Modern Technology
The invention of modern technology has affected the lives of individuals from the immersion and
creation of the Internet to mobile devices to smart phones. It has made communication between
people to people faster, more accessible, and easier. Modern technology has created the end of
distance thus making the world a smaller place in terms of making connections and communication.
For example, a person from the United States may connect to somebody else across the ocean
with just a single phone call, a Skype or video camera meeting, a text, or even an instant message
online. Distance is no longer a dilemma, a problem, and a barrier to create communication.
However, it is because of such technologies, the creation of new and more advanced software has
taken place. At first it was the video camera that allowed the person to take pictures and see the
other person via Skype as long as both parties had the device and Internet connection. Next,
computers and laptops came packaged with a built in video camera allowing for easier access and
communication. However, technology has stepped up and advanced the field of communication by
allowing and building video camera abilities through the smart phone like the Apple iPhone.
Therefore, as long as one party as an iPhone and the other person has video camera accessibilities,
they can chat and see each other when one person is on the road, and the other is stationed
somewhere. As aforementioned, the distance has become increasingly smaller

The Invention of the Internet
Perhaps one of the greatest inventions of out time is the Internet. Without a doubt, the net has had a
profound effect on almost every aspect of our lives. The formation of the Internet has changed the
way we do business, communicate, entertain, retrieve information, and even educate ourselves.
Nevertheless, the Internet might have never materialized if it had not been for some innovated
thinkers from the Advanced Research Project Agency, who created "ARPANET." In collaboration
with several educational and research institutions, the agency created the packet–switching
technologies that form the basis of the Internet today.

The internet matured in the 1970's as a result of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP), which is sill used today. It was adopted by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1980, and
universally adopted in 1983. The usage of TCP/IP is what unites all elements of the net. Both
public domain and commercial implementations of the roughly one hundred protocols of the TCP
/IP protocol suite became available in the 1980's. During the early 1990's, Open Systems
Interconnection (OSI) protocol implementations also became available by the end of 1991, the
Internet has grown to include some 5,000 networks in over three dozen countries, serving over
700,000 host computers used be over 4,000,000 people. By December 1996, about 627,000 Internet
domain names had been registered and now there are more than 30 million registered.
The conceptual foundation for the creation of the Internet was significantly developed by three
individuals and a research conference, each of which changed the way we thought about technology
by accurately predicting its future: Vannevar Bush wrote the first visionary description of the
potential uses for information technology with his description of the "memex" automated library
system. Norbet Wiener invented the field of Cybernetics, inspiring future researchers to focus on the
use of technology to expand human compatibilities. The 1956 Dartmouth Artificial Intelligence
Conference crystallized the concept that

History of the Personal Computer
1. Introduction and thesis statement The modern day society is the result of countless processes of
change and evolution, among the more notable of them being the evolution of Information
Technology. Today, technology impacts all aspects of the life of humanity, from the trivial chores, to
the complex and intricate endeavors. But this state of affairs could not have been possible had it not
been for the creation and strong development of the Personal Computer.
2. Events that led to the advancement During the 1970s decade, the United States were undergoing a
rather challenging period of economic downturn, preceded by two decades of economic growth.
From a technological standpoint, computers were scarce and inefficient, while competition in the
industry was virtually inexistent. The market was dominated by IBM, but Microsoft would soon be
launched (Ceruzzi, 2010).
The scope of Bill Gates was that of bringing computers into each and every American household, and
the computers would run his operating system, which would be more easily accessible to the users.
During those days, the computers were intricate and difficult to use. They would be extremely large
and the population would have a decreased access to them. Additionally, they required technical
knowledge and specialized background to operate. Still, numerous pioneers emerged to help create
more easily useable computers and applications (Trachtman, 1995).

electronic digital computer were developed between 1940 and 1945 in the United States and in the
United Kingdom. They were gigantic, originally the size of a large room, and also need to be

UNIVAC 1 was created to process data like Herman Hollerith's tabulator over 50 years before,
however UNIVAC 1 was then manufactured for other users and become the world's first large scale
commercial computer. The key period of the evolution of modern electronic computer is in between
the late 1930s and the early 1950s. Not all of them were invented by the mathematician or physician.
Among those machines were pioneering computers put together by english academics notably
Manchester/Ferrenti Mark 1, built at Manchester University by Frederic Williams and Thomas
Kilburn. And the EDSAC, Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator built by Maurice Wilkes
at Cambridge University. The microelectronic revolution started when they were using the vacuum
tubes it consume a lot of power supply. As a comparison the ENIAC used about 2000 times as
much electricity as the modern laptop. Not just that, the modern term for a problem that holds up a
computer program is a "bug". Popular legend has it that this word entered the vocabulary of
computer programmers sometimes in the 1950s when moths, attracted by the glowing lights of
vacuum tubes, flew inside machines and caused a short circuit. In order to create more advance

The History Of Ibm Computers Essay
The history of IBM computers began in 1943, when the company created Mark I weighing nearly
4.5 tons (Yost 25). Already in 1952, the first big lamp computer IBM 701 appeared, and in 1959,
IBM introduced the first transistor computers which reached such a level of reliability and
performance that the U.S. Air Force found it possible to apply them in the early warning system of
air defense (Yost 27–35). IBM is also the developer of the first general purpose computers, first
computers with a byte–addressable memory (1964 IBM System/360), as well as Personal Computer
(IBM PC, 1981) (Yost 87–90). The company owns such significant scientific and technological
developments as the invention of hard drive and floppy drive, Dynamic Random Access Memory
application, universal computer language SQL, the discovery of high–temperature superconductivity,
and other truly revolutionary innovations.
As a result, at one time, IBM was producing up to 90% of all computers in the United States (Yost
113). The architecture of IBM PC became the de facto standard for the whole industry, and its
openness greatly contributed to the huge success of IBM PC and mass production of
PC–compatible clones by other companies, and, ultimately, to the unfolding of personal computers
and computer revolution era. Until now, IBM–compatible computers still make about 90% of all the
personal computers produced (Yost 171). However, contrary to its tough principles of intellectual
property protection, IBM patented

symbolises the advancement of technology in mankind. Furthermore, computer has made our life
easier. We would not have achieved what we have today if computer was not invented. It is difficult

IBM introduces the 701 the following year. It is the first commercially successful computer. In
1956 FORTRAN is introduced(proposed 1954, it takes nearly 3 years to develop the compiler). Two
additional languages, LISP and COBOL, are added in 1957 and 1958. Other early languages

Many educational institutions are attempting to meet the challenge of educating people about basic
computing skills (Parry). For example, providing opportunities for students to take classes in high
school allows students to become more familiar with the basics of computers earlier. Some classes
include word processing, browsing the internet, and using the computers interface. Colleges teach
more advanced classes on computers. The colleges have realized the need for students to know how
to use a computer. For example, some colleges make taking at least one computer class a
requirement to graduate. These requirements help people be accountable for having some
knowledge with computers no matter what their career direction is. In case of a job change or
different choice of occupation, an individual would still have a working knowledge of computers.
Just as people change careers, the way computers look and run also changes. The people who use
the computers need to make sure and pay attention to when changes are set in place. There are
many books that are available that have a wide variety of topics on computers. Some community
colleges offer short classes that help develop skills with computers. An example of change is the
operating system Windows created by Microsoft. There are many different versions of windows.

The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse
If you ask people to name one of the most important technologies of the twentieth century, one of the
answers would most certainly be the computer. A computer, however, is not a technology all to
itself. Many other technologies went into the modern home computers of today, including the
mouse. Douglas C. Engelbart, a worker at the SRI (Stanford Research Institute), invented the mouse
in 1964. However, the process of the invention of the mouse was not instantaneous and without
effect on the realm of computing and society. In this paper I will be examining the problems that
had to be overcome and the technologies that had to be invented for the mouse to become a reality.

That is when Bob Taylor, a representative of NASA, stepped in and collected enough money from
NASA to keep the lab running. Bob Taylor once again helped the lab by getting more than adequate
funding from ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) to support the work of Engelbart to its
conclusion.
During the time when the mouse debuted computers had just arrived into the small business market.
They were still costly and not economically viable for home computer users. Because of the great
expense involved there was no need to cater to the needs of the general public, which requires
user–friendly computers. User–friendly means that the computer's operating system and interface are
easy–to–learn. The change to using the mouse was also uneconomical for computer manufacturers of
the time because there was no demand for them except for the editing of text. Some computers of the
time were equipped with mouse support, specifically the Amstrad PC 1512, but the mouse remained
unpopular due to its limited uses. The first commercial mouse was not released until 1982.
Hardware and software support is another problem the mouse had to overcome. As mentioned
previously, the mouse was released before most computer systems had hardware support for it.
Therefore, even if the computer used a program that incorporated a mouse, there was nowhere to
connect the mouse with the motherboard. Also there was no code for the CPU (central processing
unit) to understand the signals

Computer Science Computer science is one of the fastest growing career fields in modern history.
Dating back only a few decades to the late 1950's and early 1960's, it has become on of the leading
industries in the world today. Developed through the technological architecture of electrical
engineering and the computational language of mathematics, the science of computer technology has
provided considerable recognition and financial gain for many of its well deserving pioneers.
Originally conceived as an organizational solution to the massive amounts of information kept on
nothing more than paper, computers have evolved and advanced to become a common part of
modern day life. In the early days of the computer age, the newest and most...show more content...
It is essentially the brain of the computer and though it is the main determining factor in the
processing power of the computer as a whole, many other parts of the machine are just as important
in overall performance. Many people don't know this and that is how computer corporations have
cheated people out of their money for so many years by selling them cheep systems with high
megahertz numbers for the processors in them. This is one reason for the success of the computer
industry. When people find out that they have been cheated, they will try to learn more about the
product and probably end up spending more money next time. Either way the computer companies
always win. A career in the field ofcomputer science has been proven to be a worthwhile direction
for any young enthusiast and this tren is looking just as bright in the new millenium. Computer
science and technology has much to offer in anyone of its many career paths. Whether working with
a large multinational corporation or a smaller private company on computer hardware or software in
engineering or programming, the possibilities and opportunities are endless and are increasing
everyday. One reason the computer industry is so promising is that virtually every industry in the
world depends on computers to operate. This creates an increasingly large and permanent demand
for computer hardware, software, and the technical knowledge to create and use them. Computer

Essay On Invention Of Computer

  • 1. Impact Of The Advancement Of Computer Technology Joshua Miller Mr. Keseman English 12 10/7/14 Impact of the Advancement of Computer Technology Almost everyone in the world uses computers today, but they were not always a large part of society. The advancement of computers have been substatially crucial in changing how the world is connected together. Computers are considered to be one of the most important inventions ever. Computers have allowed technology to become what is in the modern day world. This computer technology has been so helpful and has been able to create new and better equipment. Almost everything in the world today is connected together through the works and advancements of computers. Ever since the beginning of the world 's existence, man has been trying to forge ahead and better himself. Throughout history man has pushed to achieve that which had always been considered unachievable. Some have disreguarded these advancements and some have even tried to destroy it, yet it still seems to grow more and more. At the point today, technology not only allows everyone to have better lives, it also gives people the opportunity for global unity and advancement. Some could say that the abacus was the first computer, but the first computer that resembles most of today 's modern technology would be the analytical engine. It was created and designed by the British mathematician Charles Babbage. Before the computer, everything had to be computed by hand by a person that sat around alll day, adding and subtracting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The History of Computers The History of Computers Whether you know it or not you depend on computers for almost every thing you do in modern day life. From the second you get up in the morning to the second you go to sleep computer are tied into what you do and use in some way. It is tied in to you life in the most obvious and obscure ways. Take for example you wake up in the morning usually to a digital alarm clock. You start you car it uses computers the second you turn the key (General Motors is the largest buyers of computer components in the world). You pick up the phone it uses computers. No mater how hard you try you can get away from them you can't. It is inevitable. Many people think of computers as a new invention, and in reality it is very old. ...show more content... When it was finished in 1950 it became the fastest computer in the world.17 It was built by the National Bureau of standards on the campus of UCLA. It was names the National Bureau of Standards Western Automatic Computer or the SWAC. It could be said that the SWAC set the standards for computers for later up to present times.18 It was because the had all the same primary units. It had a storage device, a internal clock, an input output device, and arithmetic logic unit that consisting of a control and arithmetic unit. These computers were considered first generation computers (1942 – 1958). In 1948 John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Schockley of Bell labs file for the firs patent on the transistor.19 This invention would foundation for second generation computers (1958 – 1964). Computers of the second generation were smaller(about the size of a piano now) and much more quicker because of the new inventions of its time. Computers used the much smaller transistor over the bulky vacuum tubes. Another invention which influenced second generation computers and every generation after it was the discovery of magnetic core memory. Now magnetic tapes and disks were used to store programs instead of being stored in the computer. This way the computer could be used for many operations without totally being reprogrammed or rewired to do another task. All you had to do was pop in another disk. • 3. Many people consider the computer to be a once in a lifetime invention. Almost everywhere one goes and looks, there is always a computer. They are found in basically every household in America. It is such a powerful device that it changes the way people run their lives. The question is, are computers all good or are there some downfalls to this incredible gadget? In order to answer this question, it is best for one to know the history, components, careers, and the dark side of computers. There is no simple answer to the question, "Who invented the computer?" Many inventors, through the course of time have contributed to the invention of the computer. It is quite hard to pinpoint the first computer, but most scholars say the abacus...show more content... Computer software is the programs designed to perform a specific task. It works along with hardware to help the computer run. It is the opposite of computer hardware in that it is not physically tangible. There are two main different types of frequently used software. One is system software and the other is application software (Swedin and Ferro 40). The system software is commonly referred to as the operating system. All computers have an operating system. It is used for starting the computer and running all the application software, along with other things. Some common operating systems are Windows, Linux and Macintosh (40). Then there is the application software as mentioned before. Applications are computer programs that are designed for a specific task. Some typical examples of application software are word processors, media players and computer games (Swedin and Ferro 86). So all in all, computer hardware and software goes hand in hand in making the computer to be what it is today. Computers and the Internet are not going away any time soon. "In fact computer careers are one of the fastest growing segments in the market right now. Everybody needs technology, everybody needs people that know how to make computers work and understands how it impacts the business" (Abbott). • 4. Essay The Advancement of Computers Imagine if the computer was never invented. The world would not have the advances in technology or the multiple devices that we now take for granted. Also take the time to imagine how hard it would be to live in a world without a computer it would be harder to store and process information. If it were not for many inventors the world might not have had the modern day computer that people all over the world use. The many advances in software that we need for school work such as the Microsoft Programs and the internet. Also we would not have any of the devices that we use almost every day such as a laptop computer, cell phone or an mp3 player. In 1939, Zuse completed the Z2; it was the first fully operational electro–mechanical computer device (2). Zuse completed the Z3 computer in 1941. The model consisted of recycled materials that were donated by his fellow university staff and some of his students (2). This was the world's first electronic, fully programmable digital computer (2). Zuse used old movie film to store his programs and data for the Z3, instead of using paper tape or punched cards; but unfortunately paper was in short supply in Germany during the war (2). Also Zuse was unable to convince the Nazi government to support his work for a computer based on electronic valves, the Germans assumed they were close to winning the War and thought that they had no need to support any of Zuse's further research in computer technology (2). Unfortunately for Zuse his Z1 through Z3 models were destroyed during the war, and later Zuse left for ZГјrich to finish his work on the Z4, by smuggling the Z4 from Germany in a military truck (2). He completed and installed the Z4 at the Applied Mathematics Division of ZГјrich's Federal Polytechnical Institute (2). Zuse later moved back to Germany to form a computer company called Zuse KG for the construction and marketing of his designs. Zuse later rebuilt models of the Z3 in 1960 and rebuilt the Z1 in 1984 (3). There were other inventors other than Konrad Zuse that helped Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Our minds have created many remarkable things, however the best invention we ever created is the computer. computers are constantly growing and becoming better every day. Every day computers are capable of doing new things. Even though computers have helped us a lot in our daily lives, many jobs have been lost because of it, now the computer can do all of the things a man can do in seconds! A person can note advanced and more decisive solutions to a problem using all the methods he/she can come up with. we can think of many solutions to the everyday problems we get, while the only thing a computer can do it give an answer from the given input and to that over and over again (s01821169 1). Ten years ago, Garry Kasparov the greatest chessmind alive lost against the IBM supercomputer program Deep Blue. that event created a change in the relationship between man and computer. In nearly every board game and card game, the computer is dominant. Computers have superior command of almost all board games. Why is that? It is because of the near flawless strategy that the computer has that man is not intellectually capable of. Every time when its computers turn, the board position is sent to a databank the gives the best move to be executed next. Computer intelligence has been one sci–fi's principal themes for a long time. Experts in the field of artificial intelligence say that bots will sometime emerge far beyond the intellectual and physical capacities of humans. There is a game in which computers have never been able to beat a man that is "Go", the elderly Chinese board game. It is the oldest board game ever made, and the only game at which mankind was always the champion. Most changes were technology progressions due to countless inventions, which even today changing forms of ordinary life of society. In my view, the most extraordinary invention which can be recalled in history is invention of computers. Because, computers prejudiced our office, systems, education and science. First after occupying to our life, computers have developed one of the main component of office workers. Due to computers industries are saving a countless deal of money and increasing efficiency of office workers. For example, computer is a good device to achieve data storage of businesses and thus can help to decrease the huge amount of paper which are required for ordinary working issues. Also, they can be used to improve efficiency in areas such as word dispensation, data organization and data access. Therefore, it is foretold that computers will remain as an important device of office staff for a long time. Second, education is one of the most significant influences of expansion and due to computers education system of nations are refining. • 7. The Invention of Modern Technology The invention of modern technology has affected the lives of individuals from the immersion and creation of the Internet to mobile devices to smart phones. It has made communication between people to people faster, more accessible, and easier. Modern technology has created the end of distance thus making the world a smaller place in terms of making connections and communication. For example, a person from the United States may connect to somebody else across the ocean with just a single phone call, a Skype or video camera meeting, a text, or even an instant message online. Distance is no longer a dilemma, a problem, and a barrier to create communication. However, it is because of such technologies, the creation of new and more advanced software has taken place. At first it was the video camera that allowed the person to take pictures and see the other person via Skype as long as both parties had the device and Internet connection. Next, computers and laptops came packaged with a built in video camera allowing for easier access and communication. However, technology has stepped up and advanced the field of communication by allowing and building video camera abilities through the smart phone like the Apple iPhone. Therefore, as long as one party as an iPhone and the other person has video camera accessibilities, they can chat and see each other when one person is on the road, and the other is stationed somewhere. Without a doubt, the net has had a profound effect on almost every aspect of our lives. The formation of the Internet has changed the way we do business, communicate, entertain, retrieve information, and even educate ourselves. Nevertheless, the Internet might have never materialized if it had not been for some innovated thinkers from the Advanced Research Project Agency, who created "ARPANET." In collaboration with several educational and research institutions, the agency created the packet–switching technologies that form the basis of the Internet today. It was adopted by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1980, and universally adopted in 1983. The usage of TCP/IP is what unites all elements of the net. Both public domain and commercial implementations of the roughly one hundred protocols of the TCP /IP protocol suite became available in the 1980's. During the early 1990's, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol implementations also became available by the end of 1991, the Internet has grown to include some 5,000 networks in over three dozen countries, serving over 700,000 host computers used be over 4,000,000 people. By December 1996, about 627,000 Internet domain names had been registered and now there are more than 30 million registered. The conceptual foundation for the creation of the Internet was significantly developed by three individuals and a research conference, each of which changed the way we thought about technology by accurately predicting its future: Vannevar Bush wrote the first visionary description of the potential uses for information technology with his description of the "memex" automated library system. Norbet Wiener invented the field of Cybernetics, inspiring future researchers to focus on the use of technology to expand human compatibilities. • 9. Personal Computer Research Paper History of the Personal Computer 1. Introduction and thesis statement The modern day society is the result of countless processes of change and evolution, among the more notable of them being the evolution of Information Technology. Today, technology impacts all aspects of the life of humanity, from the trivial chores, to the complex and intricate endeavors. But this state of affairs could not have been possible had it not been for the creation and strong development of the Personal Computer. 2. Events that led to the advancement During the 1970s decade, the United States were undergoing a rather challenging period of economic downturn, preceded by two decades of economic growth. From a technological standpoint, computers were scarce and inefficient, while competition in the industry was virtually inexistent. The market was dominated by IBM, but Microsoft would soon be launched (Ceruzzi, 2010). The scope of Bill Gates was that of bringing computers into each and every American household, and the computers would run his operating system, which would be more easily accessible to the users. During those days, the computers were intricate and difficult to use. They would be extremely large and the population would have a decreased access to them. Additionally, they required technical knowledge and specialized background to operate. Still, numerous pioneers emerged to help create more easily useable computers and applications (Trachtman, 1995). 3. Effects of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The key period of the evolution of modern electronic computer is in between the late 1930s and the early 1950s. Not all of them were invented by the mathematician or physician. Among those machines were pioneering computers put together by english academics notably Manchester/Ferrenti Mark 1, built at Manchester University by Frederic Williams and Thomas Kilburn. And the EDSAC, Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator built by Maurice Wilkes at Cambridge University. The microelectronic revolution started when they were using the vacuum tubes it consume a lot of power supply. As a comparison the ENIAC used about 2000 times as much electricity as the modern laptop. Not just that, the modern term for a problem that holds up a computer program is a "bug". Popular legend has it that this word entered the vocabulary of computer programmers sometimes in the 1950s when moths, attracted by the glowing lights of vacuum tubes, flew inside machines and caused a short circuit. • 11. The History Of Ibm Computers Essay The history of IBM computers began in 1943, when the company created Mark I weighing nearly 4.5 tons (Yost 25). Already in 1952, the first big lamp computer IBM 701 appeared, and in 1959, IBM introduced the first transistor computers which reached such a level of reliability and performance that the U.S. Air Force found it possible to apply them in the early warning system of air defense (Yost 27–35). IBM is also the developer of the first general purpose computers, first computers with a byte–addressable memory (1964 IBM System/360), as well as Personal Computer (IBM PC, 1981) (Yost 87–90). The company owns such significant scientific and technological developments as the invention of hard drive and floppy drive, Dynamic Random Access Memory application, universal computer language SQL, the discovery of high–temperature superconductivity, and other truly revolutionary innovations. As a result, at one time, IBM was producing up to 90% of all computers in the United States (Yost 113). The architecture of IBM PC became the de facto standard for the whole industry, and its openness greatly contributed to the huge success of IBM PC and mass production of PC–compatible clones by other companies, and, ultimately, to the unfolding of personal computers and computer revolution era. Until now, IBM–compatible computers still make about 90% of all the personal computers produced (Yost 171). CBS uses one of the 46 UNIVAC computers produced to predict the outcome of the 1952 Presidential Election. They do not air the prediction for 3 hours because they do not trust the machine. IBM introduces the 701 the following year. It is the first commercially successful computer. In 1956 FORTRAN is introduced(proposed 1954, it takes nearly 3 years to develop the compiler). Two additional languages, LISP and COBOL, are added in 1957 and 1958. Other early languages include ALGOL and BASIC. Although never widely used, ALGOL is the basis for many of today's languages. With the introduction of Control Data's CDC1604 in 1958, the first transistor powered computer, a new age dawns. Brilliant scientist Seymour Cray heads the development team. This year integrated circuits are introduced by two men, Jack Kilby and John Noyce, working independently. The second network is developed at MIT. Over the next three years computers begin affecting the day–to–day lives of most Americans. The addition of MICR characters at the bottom of checks is common. In 1961 Fairchild Semiconductor introduces the integrated circuit. Within ten years all computers use these instead of the transistor. For example, providing opportunities for students to take classes in high school allows students to become more familiar with the basics of computers earlier. Some classes include word processing, browsing the internet, and using the computers interface. Colleges teach more advanced classes on computers. The colleges have realized the need for students to know how to use a computer. For example, some colleges make taking at least one computer class a requirement to graduate. These requirements help people be accountable for having some knowledge with computers no matter what their career direction is. In case of a job change or different choice of occupation, an individual would still have a working knowledge of computers. Just as people change careers, the way computers look and run also changes. The people who use the computers need to make sure and pay attention to when changes are set in place. There are many books that are available that have a wide variety of topics on computers. • 18. The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse If you ask people to name one of the most important technologies of the twentieth century, one of the answers would most certainly be the computer. A computer, however, is not a technology all to itself. Many other technologies went into the modern home computers of today, including the mouse. Douglas C. Engelbart, a worker at the SRI (Stanford Research Institute), invented the mouse in 1964. However, the process of the invention of the mouse was not instantaneous and without effect on the realm of computing and society. In this paper I will be examining the problems that had to be overcome and the technologies that had to be invented for the mouse to become a reality. It also...show more content... That is when Bob Taylor, a representative of NASA, stepped in and collected enough money from NASA to keep the lab running. Bob Taylor once again helped the lab by getting more than adequate funding from ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) to support the work of Engelbart to its conclusion. During the time when the mouse debuted computers had just arrived into the small business market. They were still costly and not economically viable for home computer users. Because of the great expense involved there was no need to cater to the needs of the general public, which requires user–friendly computers. User–friendly means that the computer's operating system and interface are easy–to–learn. The change to using the mouse was also uneconomical for computer manufacturers of the time because there was no demand for them except for the editing of text. Some computers of the time were equipped with mouse support, specifically the Amstrad PC 1512, but the mouse remained unpopular due to its limited uses. The first commercial mouse was not released until 1982. Hardware and software support is another problem the mouse had to overcome. As mentioned previously, the mouse was released before most computer systems had hardware support for it. Therefore, even if the computer used a program that incorporated a mouse, there was nowhere to connect the mouse with the motherboard. Also there was no code for the CPU (central processing unit) to understand the signals Get more content on HelpWriting.net
