Arguments Against Abortion
Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in
America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the
United States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice
and a protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very
moment of conception and thus an abortionis the immoral killing of an innocent human being
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides.

Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of
conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped
from the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight
weeks the most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015,
p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased
depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A 2002 peer reviewed study published by the
Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit
suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe
women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant,
one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire
to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number of adoptable babies (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). Lastly, abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable and it is
acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015,

F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
Gatsby s Great American Dream The American Dream in simple terms is the essence of
Americanism; it is the belief that social mobility, prosperity, and financial success are attainable
by hard work regardless of social class and nationality. The American Dream exemplifies what
every immigrant imagines as they walk through Ellis Island or cross the border from Mexico. It is
the ethos of America, the defining image of the average upper middle class family man. This idea
of prosperity begins as far back as the founders of the United States. Benjamin Franklin, one of the
most famous Framers in American history, built himself from the ground up. Franklin s The
Autobiography is both his personal regimen for prosperity, but also the... Show more content on

James Gatz transformation to Jay Gatsby is the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy
would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end (Fitzgerald 98).
Benjamin Franklin created thirteen virtues that he personally followed that aided his quest for
perfection. Of these thirteen virtues, Gatsby perfected Cleanliness and Order to the fullest extent.
Gatsby s practice of elocution and ability to schedule his business is one example of these
specific virtues. Jay Gatsby often seems to be reminded of his past, but his goal is not to even
cover up his past. This goal of Gatsby s is the beginning of his downfall in the quest towards the
perfection of his own American Dream. The virtues that Gatsby fulfils in some circumstances and
does not fulfil in others include Silence, Temperance, and Sincerity. Franklin s idea of Sincerity is
that one should use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak
accordingly (Franklin). Gatsby achieves this virtue whenever he is in the company of Daisy
Buchanan, his love interest of many years. There is a certain irony to their relationship as Daisy
is extremely insincere or grateful for the life she has led. Even though Gatsby s entire adult life is a
lie, there is a sense of youthful love from a man who has outgrown his youthful pleasures. Daisy
Buchanan is related to another of these virtues, Silence. Gatsby understands

Summary Of The Character Of Rajam Krishnan
Rajam Krishnan occupies an important place among Tamil women novelists. She was born in
1925 Musiri, Trichy district of Tamil Nadu. Her childhood and early adult life were remarkably
traditional. Her education was interrupted by her marriage at the age of fourteen. Rajam Krishnan
writes that it was unthinkable that a girl brought up in a conventional middle class Brahmin
family in a village would become a writer especially in her case, since she was the youngest
member of a joint family. I had to toil with humility and perseverance, obeying all my husband s
people, to earn a good name and add to my family s honour and pride...I was calm outside,
discharging my duties in the house, but there was a turmoil inside. Things eased a little within the
household when, in 1950, one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also believes that the novel can inspire and make the readers act accordingly. Most of the
female protagonists of Rajam Krishnan are victims of the joint family set up where they are
denied their personal rights. This in turn leads to their alienation. In most of her novels we find
the female protagonists following one principle ie they believe in getting rid of the obstacle and
walking out to find a better environment. Rajam Krishnan does not stress only on walking out but
firmly instructs to set their own final destination. The situation of the women caught in such
traumatic situation is similar to that of standing in the middle of cross roads. One will be surely
confused to select the right path to reach the correct destination. Rajam Krishnan s female
characters also face the similar situation but they are and capable enough to choose the right
direction even at the cross roads. They possess the ability to fight any obstacle bravely and to be
bold in all walks of life and in any situation. They neither blindly follow the unrealistic rituals of the
society nor accept

The Pre-Raphaelite Art of Edward Burne Jones Essay
Like his fellow Pre Raphaelite artists, Edward Burne Jones paintings often included an array of
mythological subjects, from ancient Greece to the bible. Burne Jones was extremely interested in
mythology from a young age, creating a dream world for himself to compensate for his harsh
upbringing at the hands of the strict housekeeper. This fascination with myths, particularly the
Arthurian legend, continued for his whole life and Burne Jones art was reaction against the `moral
ugliness of the industrial world he grew up in, where realism had taken over in art. Julia Cartwright
wrote in `The Art Annual of 1894 that `the art of Burne Jones from first to last has been a silent and

Burne Jones has highlighted line, particularly on the figure, which makes the painting almost flat
and stationary, giving the painting a still, calm look. Despite the expression in the angel s face, he
almost looks as if he is suspended, motionless in space.
It is painted with limited a palette, using soft, colours which almost illuminate the entire scene and
give the impression that the heavens are shining down upon the contemplative scene. The soft
colours are easy to the eye, not brash or harsh, emphasising the innocence of Mary and the holy
aspects of the scene.
The elaborate robes and wing of the angel, and the carvings above the archway are extremely and
detailed. Most of Burne Jones work is full of intricate and decorative features which give richness
to the paintings to show the richness and opulence of the story that the paintings aim to convey.
Botticelli and Michelangelo worked in very fine detail, which was a great influence to the Pre
Raphaelites. Burne Jones, as much as he puts detail on to the clothing and stonework, leaves the
faces of the angel and Mary flawless, not adding too much detail, which gives them unblemished
and perfect complexions. He has waved the possibility of even the slightest blemishes to idealise
their beauty.

The Social Phenomenon Of Female Juvenile Prostitution Essay
SAVING OUR GIRLS
Nikia S. Gettridge
Understanding Prostitution
The social phenomenon of female juvenile prostitution is a serious problem that is difficult to
understand and troublesome to acknowledge. The fact that young girls are finding their way into
the complex system of prostitution is often met with disbelief (OJJDP, 2002).
In order to understand prostitution, it is necessary to understand:
1.Lethal gender inequality
2.Incest and other childhood sexual assault
3.Poverty and homelessness
4.The ways in which racism and colonialism are inextricably connected with sexism in prostitution
5.Domestic violence, including rape
6.Posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, mood and dissociative disorders as consequences of
prostitution
7.Drug and alcohol addiction
8.The fact that prostitution is a global business which involves interstate and inter country
trafficking as a necessary part of its profitable operation
9.In nondominant states the ways in which economic development programs erode traditional ways
of living
10.The need for culturally relevant treatment
11.The ways in which diverse cultures normalize and promote prostitution, stripping, exotic
dancing, nude dancing, table dancing, phone sex, trafficking, child and adult pornography, lap
dancing, massage brothels, and peep shows as prostitution (ProstitutionResearch.com)

Differences Between The Renaissance And Romantic Period...
British literature is constantly evolving. This became overwhelmingly apparent in the survey of
literature from the varying literary periods analyzed in English III. The reason for such is the ever
changing nation in which the authors lived. The stark differences in life during the Renaissance
and Romantic Era resulted in authors writing with the intention to convey different themes.
Specifically, one key theme of the Renaissance was the role of God in people s lives, which
manifests itself in John Donne s sermon Meditation 17 was well as John Miltons poem When I
Consider How My Light Is Spent. In the Romantic Era, one theme around which writers tended
to focus was the beauty and power of nature. This theme is overwhelmingly clear in William
Wordsworth s poem The World Is Too Much with Us and Percy Shelley s poem Ode to the West
Wind. A theme nearly omnipresent in the Renaissance was the role of God in people s lives.
One major work it appears in is John Milton s When I Consider How My Light Is Spent. In this
sonnet, Milton reflects on his blindness and its impact to his standing as a Christian. This is
evident when he fondly asks, Doth God exact day labor, light denied? In other words, he is
asking God whether he still demands good works that may not be possible to to his disability. The
answer to such question is a clear no, as God doth not need... man s work. Moreover, this murmur
elaborates its position, that whoever best accepts life s burdens ( His

American Buffalo Research Paper
The taxonomy for a buffalo and a cow are very similar. Depending on what type of buffalo
depends on what species it is. For the American buffalo, the specie is bison. Bison is a common
meat for many Americans because it is considered to be leaner than cow. Because the buffalo
and cow are so similar, the lactation and physiology aspect are similar with few changes.
Buffalos tend to have longer teats and thicker teats. In buffalos, the milk is stored in the
secretory tissue even after a 10 to 12 hour milking interval (Borghese et al., 2007). The milk must
be removed completely so the milk production will not decrease and apoptosis will not take place.
When the issue of disease comes up, many people will say mastitis is large problem for mammals

Also when the buffalo releases milk, it can clean the bacteria that accumulated inside the teat
post dip that got trapped in the keratin lining. When mastitis is prevalence, it comes in two
forms; subclinical and clinical. When a cow gets mastitis, the somatic cell counts increase
which causes a decrease in milk yield (Sahin et al., 2017). Milk ejection is important for the
buffalo. Certain events trigger the body to release milk. Presence of the calf during milking,
feeding during milking, manual udder stimulation, and oxytocin ejection are reasons for the
buffalo to release milk. Buffalos have a low proportion of cisternal milk and needs these
premilking stimulations to receive the milk from the alveoli compartments. It is important to
keep records of milk flow and milk ejection. Milk flow varies between species and environmental
factors play a role in it. Buffalos tend to have a lower milk flow rate than cows because of low milk
yield. To increase milk yield, the buffalo needs to have a dry period. The buffalo needs about two
to three months to be dried off. The dry period should begin when yield falls below 2.5

Andrea Del Castagno Analysis
During the Renaissance, a religious view of the world made a huge impact on art. The biblical
character David became an emerging popular subject among artists. Although David s story is
quite simple, artists faced challenges creating a visual representation of the young hero. The two
main obstacles were discovering how to portray the body committing the act, and also rendering the
spirit of the act itself. Among the artists who tried to recreate this story visually were Andrea del
Castagno and Andrea del Verrocchio. Castagno introduced his form of the Davidthrough painting.
The piece was entitled David with the Head of Goliath, and was originally used as a parade shield.
It differed from common parade shields, which were decorated with simple coat and arms, due to
its rare painted scene. The shield was believed to have been carried in civic or religious processions

His David is depicted in a confident pose after the battle with Goliath is already won, while
Castagno depicts David in both the moment of fighting the giant and after defeating him. Both art
works show Goliath s head under David s feet, but Castagno tells more of the biblical story in his
imagery and action. The piece being painted upon a shield also plays a testimonial role. In the Old
Testament, David is a young shepherd; he uses the motive that if God protects his sheep than God
too will protect him before going into battle with Goliath. By painting this imagery on a shield,
one can conclude that God is David s shield (David). Verrocchio s work lacks this deeper analytical
meaning. Andrea del Castagno s David with Head of Goliath stands 45 1/2 x 30 1/8 inches wide
at the top and 45 1/2 x 16 inches wide at the bottom. The work was made of tempera on leather on
wood. Castagno painted the piece in about 1450/1455. The work was part of the Widener
Collection, at the National Gallery of Art

Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s This Lime Tree Bower My...
Samuel Taylor Coleridge viewed the world in a different light than his peers. He was known as
one of the greatest poets of the Romantic Period, but he had a hard, troubled life and this was
reflected in his poems. Most of his poems were not only made to indulge the reader, but to make
the reader think. His poems were much deeper than just their literal meaning. They invited the
reader into Coleridge s heart and mind. In doing so, the reader learned a different way to view
the world and what Coleridge felt. Many of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s poems include intimate
self revelation of the poet by expressing emotions, thoughts, and using spirituality, such as is seen
in This Lime Tree Bower my Prison and Dejection: An Ode . Coleridge s poems include intimate
self revelation of the poet such as is seen in This Lime Tree Bower My Prison and Dejection: An
Ode by expressing emotions. In the poem Lime Tree Bower My Prison , Coleridge starts the
poem by focusing on the garden of lime trees that he inhabits. Coleridge compares the lime tree
garden to a prison. This makes him feel unhappy and feel as though he is suffering by not being
able to go on the walk. But, then he begins to imagine what the walk would be like. Through his
imagination, he is able to change his emotional state to a happier one. In doing so, Coleridge
comes to a realize that the lime tree bower is not so bad and has its own beautiful sights when he

Positive Impact Of Social Media On The Movie Industry
Ever since the successful marketing campaign of The Blair Witch Project , studios have
progressively marketed their films in social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and
other forms of websites. This has become more apparent in recent years where films even have
their own social media accounts to share and update fans with anything related to the filmitself
whether it be interviews with the cast, trailers, movie posters, or just to simply interact with
their fans. Some movie critics claim that social media is ruining the movie industry because
films tend to get too much coverage which leads to spoilers getting revealed before the film
releases. However, I believe that social media is not only a positive for the movie industry it s
an innovation because it s a cheap and effective way to generate buzz for a film, it allows the
fans to feel more connected with the movie they re planning to see, and individuals can easily
voice their opinion about a flick whether it be positive or negative. Have you ever noticed that
people nowadays instinctively go to any social media outlet, most notably YouTube to check out
all the new movie trailers released for upcoming films, if so then you have already detected that
movie studios tend to do this in a regular basis because it s a cheap and effective way to produce
talk for their future films. The most recent example of this would have to go to Marvel Studios and
the release of the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity

the situation of the workers in Quebec with slavery, and labeled bankers, politicians, and many

The Themes Of Friendship And War In A Separate Peace
The themes in stories are very crucial when it comes to understanding the truth behind a book or
story. In A Separate Peace the two themes that stand out the most are friendship and war, but not
the kind of war you would think. Not one shot was fired, nor was anyone killed but rather the war
on their hearts and minds. I chose these two themes because they go hand in hand in a way. Most
people have that one friend that they loveto death, but they can sometimes become jealous or
annoyed of that friend and want to punch them in the face. This represents friendshipand war at the
same time. Throughout this essay I will provide examples of Finny and Gene s friendship as well

The friendship between Gene and Phineas is probably the most important theme throughout the
novel. The boys friendship at the beginning of the story is strong, but as the story goes on and
Gene s jealousy towards Finny grows their friendship becomes weaker and weaker. They have
always loved friendly competition, but when Finny starts to gain popularity and beat records,
their competitiveness becomes not so friendly. Gene feels that their friendship is not equal and
that Finny is better than him which causes complications. Once Finny breaks his leg he is no
longer able to play sports, so he teaches Gene how to play in order to live through him in a way.
After Finny breaks his leg he tells Gene, Listen, pal, if I can t play sports, you re going to play
them for me, and I lost part of myself to him then, and a soaring sense of freedom revealed that
this must have been my purpose from the first: to become a part of Phineas (Knowles 43).
Because Gene is jealous and wants to be more like Finny he goes along with it in hopes of
gaining popularity and being an equal with Finny. Through this the boys become codependent of
one another because Gene is trying to be like Finny, and Finny wants Gene to be like him since he

Fracking is good for United States because it is used for fueling vehicles, cooking, and heating
houses and offices; unfortunately, fracking is destructive to the environment as it contains many
chemicals. Natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates in an accident, which makes it safer than
flammable liquid fuel. Most models of natural gascars get the same miles per gallon. Most spend a
lot less filling up the tank using natural gas than anything else. Natural gas costs about half the
price of gasoline or diesel. Another plus is the need to change the car s oil is less frequent because

some interesting stories and lessons in those biographies to educate his readers. His books were

The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization
The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes
its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso,
or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is
inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care
throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the
bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive
system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the
failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I
have observed many styles of managementskills and found this to work both against an
organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any
organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive
method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of
management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting.
Computers, as you are familiar with can be challenging, and as well as, they can create havoc
which can be devastating for some. Seasonal nurses are not so reluctant to give in to any changes,
and trying to comprehend something new can result in a toxic environment for them

Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Troy
The historical action film Troy, inspired by Homer s Illiad follows the epic battle between the
city of Troy and the Greek army. It was released in 2004, and features some of Hollywood s best
such as Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. Other significant actors include Erica Bana, Brian Cox,
Julian Glover, Brendan Gleeson, Siri Svegler, and Diane Kruger. The film was directed by
Wolfgang Petersen and primarily produced by the Warner Brothers, Helena Productions, and Latina
Pictures, thus making the film an American Hollywood production. Troy was indeed filmed in the
Mediterranean, in specific locations such as Fort Ricasoli, Kalkara, and Malta. However, the city of
Troy pictured in the film is indeed a set that was constructed in the Mediterranean.... Show more

The final battle depicted in this film is known as the Sack of Troy. This movie seems accurate
when one is watching it. The detail incorporated into the introductory plot is realistic. For example,
the legends and tales they said about Achilles are viable, as many are aware that he was a great
warrior. The battles were gory and illustrated what a real ancient battle would resemble. Overall,
the film seemed realistic while watching it. The film shows the viewpoints of warriors and their
wives and family from the time period. Yet, it does not show the life of any sort of merchant or
farmer from then. The movie is solely about the battle, and it excludes anyone who is not royalty
or part of the army. An example of this is the final battle scene in Troy. The viewer is not shown
the repercussions of the war on anyone but those who fought. In addition, only one side of the
majority of the protagonist is shown. Achilles, for example, is depicted as a savage killer
throughout the entire film. Even when his own cousin dies, he responds by killing someone.
When his lover is abducted, he responds by proposing a battle. He is constantly illustrated in this
light. Although the general idea of the film may be correct, the historical facts are not. One of
the largest inaccuracies in the film is the length of the Battle of Troy. In reality, the battle lasted
over 10 years whilst in the film it lasts a mere 17 days. It would have made the film less exciting
to include what would seem to be 10 years of battle, so instead the filmmakers just compressed it
into a fraction of the real length of the war. Another inaccuracy is with the characters, and who
lives or dies. The order of fatality is skewed in the film, and many characters die in the film that
did not in the legend. For example, during the film Hector kills Menelaus during his duel against
Paris. However, in reality Menelaus

Cannabis Legalization
The Legalization of Cannabis The legalization of cannabis has been a very popular topic lately. A
large majority of Americans feel that cannabis products should be legal in the United States. With
new research, researchers have discovered that cannabis is essentially harmless, and is safer than
legal products such as alcohol and tobacco. Most states have already legalized medical use, and
more states are following the trend of Colorado to legalize recreational cannabis.
Cannabis should be legal because it is a victimless crime. It is not the government s role to dictate
what their citizens can or cannot put into their bodies. Cannabis is a safe way for someone to
relieve stress after a long day. It also has many medicinal benefits that fight various diseases,
including Cancer, PTSD, Parkinsons, and more.
The medicinal benefits of cannabis are nothing short of amazing. Many veterans come back from
war, mentally destroyed. Cannabis helps veterans and victims of PTSD tremendously. It relieves
the tension and episodes that trigger their PTSD. Also when someone has a severe injury, they are
given opiates (powerful painkillers) which are very dangerous, and addictive. Cannabis is a much
safer alternative than opiates, and does the same job by dulling or even numbing the pain. In states
that have legalized, opiate usage and overdose statistics have dropped tremendously. After Colorado
s legalization of recreational cannabis, opioid related deaths decreased 6%.

The Battle Of Chancellorsville, Virginia
The battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia was fought from April 30 through May 6, 1863. It was
fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Robert E.
Lee, and the Federal Army of the Potomac commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The
intent of this battle was for Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River
west of Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the VirginiaCentral and Fredericksburg rail
lines; these rail lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because they were the main
supply lines to Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states. The Union knew that by gaining
the supply line to Richmond and defeating General Lee, was crucial because this would cause
the Confederate strategic center of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War.
However, the Army of the Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army
of Northern Virginia, and the Civil War raged on. The battle of Chancellorsville is generally
viewed as General Robert E. Lees greatest victory of the Civil War. General Lee expertly
demonstrated mission command by leading his troops into an unlikely battle, understanding the
battle, visualizing, and directing his troops in a victory for the Confederacy. General Robert E.
Lee is considered by many to be an iconic American figure, a symbol of the South, and one of the
greatest Generals in American history. Lee was a highly regarded Colonel

Hannibal Lecter Mise En Scene Analysis
The lighting, sound, set, and overall mise en scene is used in a way that allows of the feel of
suspense that was in the novel to be translated into film form. For example, one important scene
that uses mise en scene to create this suspense is the scene where we first meet Hannibal Lecter.
But first, when compared to the novel, there are a few key differences regarding the scene and
Lecter. In the novel, Lecter lying is on his bunk in a cell with the front being a wall of bars and
the second barrier a stout nylon net stretched from floor to ceiling and wall to wall (Harris). Clarice
is the first to speak, introducing herself. On the other hand, the filmhad Hannibal Lecter standing

Hannibal Lecter is placed in the center of his cell, utilizing the concept of staging. Clarice is
then placed directly in front of him, at first standing before taking a seat. By showing Lecter in
the middle and not off to the side, it gives us a sense of how important Lecter is and will be
throughout the film. Throughout their talk, there are several occasions where the camera
follows movements of the characters. On her walk to meet Lecter the camera follows Clarice
through the celled hallway. Another instance is when Lecter smells Clarice, and the camera
follows an upward movement as he cranes his neck up to the holes on the top of the wall.
Lighting is used in this scene to also portray both the overall mood the film is attempting to
depict as well as to show the mood and characteristics of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. His cell is lit

how the glass wall is used. There is a light on him at all times, using the standard three point lighting

Job Satisfaction Essay
Job satisfaction is the very important factor in general quality of life because it is closely
connected with working life (e.g. Argyle, 1989; Bang Lee, 2006), with family life, everyday life,
and mental health (Orpen, 1978; Schmitt and Bedeian, 1982; Faragher, Cass Cooper, 2005). Level
of job satisfaction is also highly related to turnover, absenteeism rate, work productivity or
accomplishment (Muchinsky, 1977; Organ, 1977). Many researchers (e.g. Cherrington, 1994;
Acorn, Ratner Crawford, 1997; Ostroff, 1992; Spector, 1997) state that employees who experience
high job satisfaction contribute to organisational commitment, job involvement, their physical,

To understand the concept of job satisfaction the research has identified two aspects of it, they are,
the facets satisfaction and overall satisfaction (Cherrington,1994; Fields, 2002). Individuals can be
satisfied or dissatisfied with their overall job (Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul, 1989) and
with specific job facets, such as the level of pay, promotion opportunities, co workers, working
conditions and supervision, contingent rewards, benefits, nature of work, or communication
(Spector, 1997; Locke, 1976; Smith, Kendall Hulin, 1969). The evidence shows that distinctive job
facets such as pay satisfaction, opportunities for promotion, relationships with co workers and
supervisors have significant effects on job satisfaction (Ting, 1997; Ellickson Logsdon, 2002;
Pohlmann; 1999). The overall satisfaction is considered in terms of good salary, compassionate
supervisors and co operative co workers. Conversely, the job dissatisfaction derives for instance
form low pay or incompetent supervisors. Therefore, the feeling of overall satisfaction or
dissatisfaction depends on the intensity and frequency of positive and negative experiences with
job (Cherrington, 1994; Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul,

Rape And Its Treatment On Campuses
No means no. That is, until you are on a college campus. Then no probably means yes. It is no
secret that there is a campus rape epidemic that has seemed to sweep the headlines in recent years.
The problem seems new yet goes back perhaps to even the first widespread admittance of women
to college campuses. And still the campus rapeproblem remains, pushed under rugs and bordering

The 2015 documentary The Hunting Ground debuted to film festivals revealing to audiences the
issues ingrained in our university system in how they treat rape taking place on their campuses
(Dick). Testimonials of rape victims from across the nation spoke out about their experiences with
how their schools treated their cases from accusations simply being ignored to suspected rapists
being disciplined with expulsions effective only after graduation. Some schools even find fault
within the victims themselves, falling privy to trends of victim blaming and slut shaming. Schools
will have a hundred sexual assault charges on their campus, even more resulting in no action: no

The Classical Hollywood Western Par Excellence
1A)In Matthew Bernstein s essay, The Classical Hollywood Western Par Excellence, he states
that while Stagecoach (John Ford, 1939) appears to glorify American history, particularly its
expansion westward at the expense of Native Americans (299) it also develops an acute social
observation of life on the Frontier and it challenges elements of the myth constructed around
this history (316). The film Stagecoach depicts not only the struggles faced by pioneers
traveling through Indian territory, but the belief among people during this time period that
anyone can go to the West to get a fresh start and live a completely new life without social
prejudice. However, Stagecoach proves this myth to be false for various reasons. One example
of this would be when Mr. Hatfield offers Mrs. Mallory water from the water canteen on the
stagecoach. Once she accepts his offer, Mr. Hatfield pours it into a silver cup for her and does
not offer anyone else in the stage coach water. Ringo then makes a comment to Mr. Hatfield that
he should give the other lady in the stagecoach, Dallas, water as well. However, Dallas has a
reputation of being a prostitute. So, Mr. Hatfield decides to give her some water but refuses to
lend her the silver cup to drink out of, he makes her drink it out of the canteen instead. This
example proves that these people were not getting a fresh start and only the upper class can share
such luxuries as a silver cup with only other upper class people, social

How the energy functions in nature: Sugarcane itself looks like bamboo stalks and it is in the
stalks that the plant stores energy that it doesn t need straight away rather like animals make
fat. People like sugar for its sweetness and the energy it provides, so farmers grow these plants
commercially to extract the sugar. Most of Australia s sugarcane is grown along the coast of
Queensland, and the rest is grown in northern New South Wales and the Ord region in Western
Australia. (5) The uses of Bio fuels: Bio fuel is being used in many ways. One of the most
common uses for Bio fuel is to power vehicles. There are two common ways to produce liquid
bio fuels. One is to grow crops high in sugar such as sugar cane, sugar beet or corn. They then
use yeast to help ferment the crops into ethanol. Ethanol is a bio fuel. The second way to make
bio fuel is to grow plants high in oil. Examples of these plants are oil palm and soya bean. These
oils are taken from the plants, heated to make them runny and then used in diesel engines. Wood
and things made from wood can also be used to make bio fuels like methanol and ethanol. Bio
fuel made from sugary substances is used in cars with petrol engines. These are the most common
types of car engines. Bio fuel made from oily plants is used in diesel engines. Diesel engines are
common in trucks, tractors and heavy machinery. Bio fuels are made by harvesting

This cultivated several protests throughout the United States at the time, which called for the
end of the Vietnam War for a variety of reasons. The main reason being that there was no direct
threat to the United States for them to send troops, and invest money in this war. The second
reason came after the United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images
from Vietnam, followed by reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There
were several accusations of war crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being
painted as the perpetrator. In the document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that,
the US Government directly violated multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam
War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn
suffering, many with traumatic experiences disturbing their peace alongside other mental
illnesses. This leads to the second question of ethics, the help and treatment provided to soldiers
upon returning home, or better yet the lack of help. The psychological trauma endured by
soldiers was at one point disregarded, and they were punished for it. Due to the nature of the
Vietnam War a lot of soldiers were developing PTSD, yet nothing was necessarily being done
about it. In Fields of Combat by Erin P. Finley, spoke about the negligence on behalf of the
military, government, and the American society as a whole by stating that, failure to make place
for PTSD would be equivalent to blaming the victim for his misfortunes... (Finley, 69). The above

An example of a closed genome is B. anthrasis (Anthrax) Core genomes are the essential genes in
all genomes and is conserved across all pathogenic species; these genes are very often involved
in metabolism and growth. These genomes hardly change because they are central to the
microbe and slight changes may kill the organism. A pan genome is the entire gene pool for that
pathogen species, and includes genes that are not shared by all strains. Pan genomes may be
open or closed depending on whether comparative analysis of multiple strains reveals no new
genes (closed) or many new genes (open) compared to the core genome for that pathogen
species. Short stuff: Open genome = C. difficile = many different isolates and strains. There are

Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market Essay
There are several meanings and interpretations of Christina Rossetti s, Goblin Market . Goblin
Market is the story of two sisters, which one of them, Laura, is tempted to visit the new goblin

despite the several warnings from her sister Lizzie not to consume the fruit. Laura gets sick and
Lizzie saves her by going to the market. After the goblins taunt, tease and torment her with the

Goblin Market portrayed how Laura is seriously tempted just to gain self pleasure. In Christina s
poem Laura even asks Lizzie if she has tasted For my sake the fruit forbidden? (Packer 376).
Unlike Lizzie, who decided to remain away and pure from all temptations. Another strong
Christian portrayal is Lizzie s words, Eat me, drink me, love me; / Laura, make much of me,
(471 472). Lizzie is represented as Christ, sacrificing herself to save her sister Laura from her
sin. There is a reference to the words of Christ at the Last Supper, This is my body which is for
you. Do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often
as you drink it, in remembrance of me (New International Version, 1 Cor. 11:23 25). Christ
sacrificed himself for the sins of man and Lizzie, who is good and pure, sacrificed herself for the
sins of her sister Laura. Another interpretation of Rossetti s Goblin Market is with erotic
connotations. Rossetti describes several sensual body parts such as cheeks, lips and breasts.
Also, Rossetti s word choice such as hugging, kissing and squeezing really raised the theme of
sex in her poem. I ate and ate my fill, / Yet my mouth waters still (165 166). Laura s joyful
experience with the fruit is perceived as such a high that is almost interpreted as orgasmic.
Laura exchanges a lock of her hair to the goblin men for fruit. A sexual desire from Laura is
evoked. Laura gains in her

The Impact Of International Business On Business
The impact of International Business
International business, defined as commercial transactions that take place between two or more
countries. International business grew over the last half of the twentieth century, partly because of
liberalization of both trade and investment, and partly because doing business internationally had
become easier. International business is different than domestic business, because of environmental
changes a company faces when crossing international borders. A company normally has a better
understanding of its domestic environment than with the environment in other countries. When a

Companies using this strategy set themselves apart from the competition. An example of a
company using this strategy is Starbucks. Their differences can be seen in the design of their
coffee shops, the music they play and the products they sell, such as coffee brewing equipment
and CDs. Starbuck also makes sure to keep the technology current, Starbucks was one of the first
companies to implement location based promotions and mobile payments. Going to Starbucks
for a cup of coffee you will pay a premium price, however, due to the fact that Starbucks offers
high quality products, people feel like they are getting a good deal. One of the main goals of a
business is to gain advantage on their competition. One way to gain advantage is to conduct a value
chain analysis, which studies what an organization can do in order to generate a competitive
advantage, while providing the greatest value to their consumers. The analysis involves identifying
each part of the chain and seeing where improvements can be made from a production standpoint or
a cost perspective, to guarantee that consumers get the most bang for their buck. It can benefit a
business in the long run, when consumers are getting the most out of a product for the cheapest
cost value to consumers. The value chain analysis looks at each of the activities in the value chain
to determine what steps are necessary and which are not in an attempt to boost the company s
bottom line. (Brooks,

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based treatment modality used to treat
children, adolescents and adults. CBT has proven useful in treatment for a multitude of diagnoses,
including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and obsessive compulsive
disorders (Farmer Chapman, 2008, p. 3). This modality looks at how cognitions, sometimes
maladaptive, contribute the psychological and behavioral issues. Cognitive behavioral therapygrew
out of findings from multiple professionals. Cognitive Therapywas developed by Beck based on
research he completed during this time working with adults with depression (Corey, 2009, p.287).

different situations, as this is useful in helping these individuals to identify these automatic
thoughts which are often subconscious. According to Beck (1991), these thoughts (cognitions)
tended to arise quickly and automatically, as though by reflex; they were not subject to volition or
conscious control and were frequently followed by unpleasant affect... that the patients were very
much aware of, even thought they were unaware of the preceding thought patterns (1991, p. 369). A
provider using CBT focuses on identifying schemas or themes that are illustrated in an individual s

Similarities Between Mencius And Xun-Zi

POLI 113A Midterm Paper
Professor: Magagna, Victor Valentine
Nov. 3th, 2016
Prompt: Explain the conception of human nature in Mencius and Xun Zi. (sources: lectures, Yao,
Mencius, Xun Zi)
The powerful understanding and concepts of human nature took shape at the time of Confucius,
Mencius and Xun Zi. Mencius and Xun Zi are famous Chinese philosiphers in the early B.C.
centuries. Both of them hold opinions towards human nature but their philosiphy approaches
strongly disagree upon human s instinct desire to conduct good or evil deeds. Mencius believes that
humans have the tendancy to behave rational, whereas Xun Zi claims that humans are born bad.
Although these two conceptions seem distinctly contradictory with each other, they do share some
similarities in aspects of politics. This paper explains conception of human nature in Mencius and
Xun Zi, and also analyzes similarities underlying the apparent conflicts of these two theories..
Mencius constructs the idea of good human nature by first raising a question of the child in a
well. He asks that how you would respond if you see a small child who is about to fall into a well,
and the consequences of the child fallling into the well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using tendential he indicates that it is not an established fact but a tendancy, a tendancy to be
rational and social. Since human beings are social individuals, we cooportate sometimes to
survive, and we are moral because we are coorporative. Therefore, due to goodness of human
nature, we are able to make rational decisions and, more importantly, to behave rational . Just as
mentioned before, good human nature is a tendancy but not a fact, human beings are not necessarily
born fully rational, social or moral, but we have the potential to be rational, social and

America a Role in Iraq Essay
America a Role in Iraq
As Afghan opposition groups and U.S. armed forces continue their successes in the war against the
Taliban and al Qaeda, the American debate has quickly turned to the question of where the fight
against terrorism should go next. In numerous public statements, President Bush has talked about a
wide ranging campaign against global terrorism. He has not committed to military operations
against any other countries or terrorist organizations, but he has made it clear that the broader
struggle against terrorism will be a long lasting effort that could include the use of military force in
regions beyond Afghanistan.
A strong case can be made that Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein, is so threatening to his people, his ...

policy, it was interpreted by many as a conscious effort to remind the world of the dangers posed
by Saddam and to begin to create a legal and political predicate to justify an eventual American
attack against him. Many overthrow advocates argue that the United States should remove Saddam
regardless of whether Iraq was involved in the September 11 terrorist attacks or not.
Absent compelling evidence of significant Iraqi involvement with the al Qaeda network or the
events of September 11, the likely costs and risks of a commitment of American military forces to
a regime change campaign in Iraq would outweigh the benefits. A U.S. overthrow campaign would
entail a large scale military operation that the United States would probably have to undertake
essentially alone; the increased risk of triggering terrorist attacks against American or allied
targets; significant American casualties given the potential for intense urban combat and Iraqi use
of chemical and biological agents; and the likely need for a long term American military presence
in Iraq to avoid regional destabilization. While these costs and risks are not so high as to rule out a
possible overthrow policy under certain circumstances, they should be sobering to any advocate of
sending U.S. troops to war to change the Iraqi regime. The central assumption behind this argument
is that Saddam unlike the religiously motivated Taliban/al Qaeda network is more interested in

  • 3. Arguments Against Abortion Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the United States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice and a protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very moment of conception and thus an abortionis the immoral killing of an innocent human being (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped from the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight weeks the most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A 2002 peer reviewed study published by the Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant, one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number of adoptable babies (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby Gatsby s Great American Dream The American Dream in simple terms is the essence of Americanism; it is the belief that social mobility, prosperity, and financial success are attainable by hard work regardless of social class and nationality. The American Dream exemplifies what every immigrant imagines as they walk through Ellis Island or cross the border from Mexico. It is the ethos of America, the defining image of the average upper middle class family man. This idea of prosperity begins as far back as the founders of the United States. There is a certain irony to their relationship as Daisy is extremely insincere or grateful for the life she has led. • 9. Differences Between The Renaissance And Romantic Period... British literature is constantly evolving. This became overwhelmingly apparent in the survey of literature from the varying literary periods analyzed in English III. The reason for such is the ever changing nation in which the authors lived. The stark differences in life during the Renaissance and Romantic Era resulted in authors writing with the intention to convey different themes. Specifically, one key theme of the Renaissance was the role of God in people s lives, which manifests itself in John Donne s sermon Meditation 17 was well as John Miltons poem When I Consider How My Light Is Spent. In the Romantic Era, one theme around which writers tended to focus was the beauty and power of nature. This theme is overwhelmingly clear in William Wordsworth s poem The World Is Too Much with Us and Percy Shelley s poem Ode to the West Wind. A theme nearly omnipresent in the Renaissance was the role of God in people s lives. One major work it appears in is John Milton s When I Consider How My Light Is Spent. In this sonnet, Milton reflects on his blindness and its impact to his standing as a Christian. This is evident when he fondly asks, Doth God exact day labor, light denied? In other words, he is asking God whether he still demands good works that may not be possible to to his disability. The answer to such question is a clear no, as God doth not need... man s work. Although David s story is quite simple, artists faced challenges creating a visual representation of the young hero. The two main obstacles were discovering how to portray the body committing the act, and also rendering the spirit of the act itself. Among the artists who tried to recreate this story visually were Andrea del Castagno and Andrea del Verrocchio. Castagno introduced his form of the Davidthrough painting. The piece was entitled David with the Head of Goliath, and was originally used as a parade shield. It differed from common parade shields, which were decorated with simple coat and arms, due to its rare painted scene. In the Old Testament, David is a young shepherd; he uses the motive that if God protects his sheep than God too will protect him before going into battle with Goliath. By painting this imagery on a shield, one can conclude that God is David s shield (David). Verrocchio s work lacks this deeper analytical meaning. Coleridge s poems include intimate self revelation of the poet such as is seen in This Lime Tree Bower My Prison and Dejection: An Ode by expressing emotions. • 24. Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Troy The historical action film Troy, inspired by Homer s Illiad follows the epic battle between the city of Troy and the Greek army. It was released in 2004, and features some of Hollywood s best such as Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. Other significant actors include Erica Bana, Brian Cox, Julian Glover, Brendan Gleeson, Siri Svegler, and Diane Kruger. The film was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and primarily produced by the Warner Brothers, Helena Productions, and Latina Pictures, thus making the film an American Hollywood production. The final battle depicted in this film is known as the Sack of Troy. This movie seems accurate when one is watching it. The detail incorporated into the introductory plot is realistic. For example, the legends and tales they said about Achilles are viable, as many are aware that he was a great warrior. The battles were gory and illustrated what a real ancient battle would resemble. Overall, the film seemed realistic while watching it. The film shows the viewpoints of warriors and their wives and family from the time period. Yet, it does not show the life of any sort of merchant or farmer from then. The movie is solely about the battle, and it excludes anyone who is not royalty or part of the army. An example of this is the final battle scene in Troy. The viewer is not shown the repercussions of the war on anyone but those who fought. In addition, only one side of the majority of the protagonist is shown. Achilles, for example, is depicted as a savage killer throughout the entire film. Even when his own cousin dies, he responds by killing someone. When his lover is abducted, he responds by proposing a battle. He is constantly illustrated in this light. Although the general idea of the film may be correct, the historical facts are not. One of the largest inaccuracies in the film is the length of the Battle of Troy. In reality, the battle lasted over 10 years whilst in the film it lasts a mere 17 days. It would have made the film less exciting to include what would seem to be 10 years of battle, so instead the filmmakers just compressed it into a fraction of the real length of the war. Another inaccuracy is with the characters, and who lives or dies. The order of fatality is skewed in the film, and many characters die in the film that did not in the legend. For example, during the film Hector kills Menelaus during his duel against Paris. However, in reality Menelaus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Cannabis Legalization The Legalization of Cannabis The legalization of cannabis has been a very popular topic lately. A large majority of Americans feel that cannabis products should be legal in the United States. With new research, researchers have discovered that cannabis is essentially harmless, and is safer than legal products such as alcohol and tobacco. Most states have already legalized medical use, and more states are following the trend of Colorado to legalize recreational cannabis. Cannabis should be legal because it is a victimless crime. It is not the government s role to dictate what their citizens can or cannot put into their bodies. Cannabis is a safe way for someone to relieve stress after a long day. It also has many medicinal benefits that fight various diseases, including Cancer, PTSD, Parkinsons, and more. The medicinal benefits of cannabis are nothing short of amazing. Many veterans come back from war, mentally destroyed. Cannabis helps veterans and victims of PTSD tremendously. It relieves the tension and episodes that trigger their PTSD. Also when someone has a severe injury, they are given opiates (powerful painkillers) which are very dangerous, and addictive. Cannabis is a much safer alternative than opiates, and does the same job by dulling or even numbing the pain. In states that have legalized, opiate usage and overdose statistics have dropped tremendously. After Colorado s legalization of recreational cannabis, opioid related deaths decreased 6%. It was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Federal Army of the Potomac commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The intent of this battle was for Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River west of Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the VirginiaCentral and Fredericksburg rail lines; these rail lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because they were the main supply lines to Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states. The Union knew that by gaining the supply line to Richmond and defeating General Lee, was crucial because this would cause the Confederate strategic center of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War. However, the Army of the Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia, and the Civil War raged on. The battle of Chancellorsville is generally viewed as General Robert E. Lees greatest victory of the Civil War. General Lee expertly demonstrated mission command by leading his troops into an unlikely battle, understanding the battle, visualizing, and directing his troops in a victory for the Confederacy. Individuals can be satisfied or dissatisfied with their overall job (Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul, 1989) and with specific job facets, such as the level of pay, promotion opportunities, co workers, working conditions and supervision, contingent rewards, benefits, nature of work, or communication (Spector, 1997; Locke, 1976; Smith, Kendall Hulin, 1969). The evidence shows that distinctive job facets such as pay satisfaction, opportunities for promotion, relationships with co workers and supervisors have significant effects on job satisfaction (Ting, 1997; Ellickson Logsdon, 2002; Pohlmann; 1999). The overall satisfaction is considered in terms of good salary, compassionate supervisors and co operative co workers. The film Stagecoach depicts not only the struggles faced by pioneers traveling through Indian territory, but the belief among people during this time period that anyone can go to the West to get a fresh start and live a completely new life without social prejudice. However, Stagecoach proves this myth to be false for various reasons. One example of this would be when Mr. Hatfield offers Mrs. Mallory water from the water canteen on the stagecoach. Once she accepts his offer, Mr. Hatfield pours it into a silver cup for her and does not offer anyone else in the stage coach water. Ringo then makes a comment to Mr. Hatfield that he should give the other lady in the stagecoach, Dallas, water as well. However, Dallas has a reputation of being a prostitute. So, Mr. Hatfield decides to give her some water but refuses to lend her the silver cup to drink out of, he makes her drink it out of the canteen instead. The second reason came after the United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images from Vietnam, followed by reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There were several accusations of war crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being painted as the perpetrator. In the document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that, the US Government directly violated multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn suffering, many with traumatic experiences disturbing their peace alongside other mental illnesses. While these costs and risks are not so high as to rule out a possible overthrow policy under certain circumstances, they should be sobering to any advocate of sending U.S. troops to war to change the Iraqi regime. The central assumption behind this argument is that Saddam unlike the religiously motivated Taliban/al Qaeda network is more interested in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
