Performance Enhancing Drugs In College Sports
An issue that is causing problems in professional and college sports are performance enhancing
substances. Anabolic steroids such as androstenedione, human growth hormone, berythropoietin,
diuretics and, creatine using these substances are known as doping. The question is: Do
performance enhancing drugs make the game better or make it unsafe? Performance enhancing
drugs have multiple health risks. When any athletes use them younger athletes feel they have to
take them to make it in the big leagues.
Some athletes that have used performance enhancing drugs have not suffered the medical
consequences but have suffered in another way. One of the most famous player in all of baseball

you can to get that competitive edge. The effects of using these performance enhancing drugs
can be deadly. Using these might give you liver damage or decreased heart rate. Decreased heart
rate can lead to strokes or a heart attack. On of the most deadly effects of using these drugs is
leukemia. Leukemia is a blood cancer that kills someone approximately every nine minutes in

Jonathan Swift Criticism Of Human Pride
Human pride is when a person views himself as more important than other people. They have an
exaggerated sense of self respect and dignity which can make a person arrogant and blind to reality.
This could eventually lead a person to their downfall. Jonathan Swift looks at human pride in a
negative way believing the world would be much better without it. In A Voyage to the Country of
the Houyhnhnms, Jonathan Swifts criticisms of humanpride is shown through the way humans view
food, feel the need to lie, and view themselves as superior.
Jonathan Swift criticizes human pride through the way Gulliver initially views himself as more
superior than the yahoos. When Gulliver first arrives to the Country of the Houyhnhnms, he comes

By the end of the book, it is clear to Gulliver that the people of England are exactly like the
yahoos. He is disgusted by this idea and when he returns home, he can hardly be around his
family. He also despises the thought that he brought more humans into the world. Gulliver had so
much pride in who he thought he was that when he realizes he is completely wrong, he has a
strong desire to become more like the horses because he views them as the ideal being. Gulliver
goes from the idea that England could do nothing wrong to the idea that the horses could do nothing
wrong. Jonathan Swift is criticizing human pride through the way Gulliver s pride causes him to be
blind to reality.
Jonathan Swift criticizes human pride through the gluttonous way Gulliver and the English
people view food. When it is time for dinner, the Master Horse offers Gulliver a Root, a piece of
Ass s Flesh, a Whisp of Hay, and a Fetlock full of Oat. Gulliver, however, is repulsed by the smell
and disgusted by the thought of eating any of it. Claiming nothing he had been offered was food
to him, he refuses to eat and truly believes he would starve unless he came across something he
was used to. However, when the horses are done with dinner, Gulliver asks for oats, milk, fire,
water, and some other things which he uses to make himself something to eat. The Horse
immediately ordered a White Mare servant of his family to bring me a good Quantity of Oats in a
sort of wooden Tray. These I heated before the

Video Game Industry Women
In particular the video game industry has been commanded by a mostly male eccentric
community, but in the past two decades, women have been encroaching on the alleged private life
of the male video gamer s community and they are petrified they are going to lose a unique time
to get away from their lives and women in general. It s a $27.5 billion industry, but the modern
video gameindustry had a humble beginning. (CNBC, 1). The video game industry was thought
up by an engineer named Ralph Baer in 1966. Moving forward over the years video gaming was
established from the ground up by male computer scientist and engineers. The first video game
released publicly was set loose upon the public at Andy Capp s Tavern in Sunnyvale, California.

In addition, Andy Capp s is now known as the Cape Canaveral of the video game industry

stronger commerce for all of mankind. The women s journey to success in the gaming industry
was not an easy one, but for those who did make it their contributions and their prominences had
a lasting impact in the world of video games (Cohen, 1). The male gaming community is
suffering from a appeal to popular opinion, all because other people are saying women should
not be involved in the gaming industry. The first ever woman game programmer and designer
was Carol Shaw. She is best known for working with Activision but before she ever was involved
with them she became the first female to program and design a video game, 3D Tic Tac Toe for the
Atari 2600 (Cohen, 6). In addition to Shaw being the first female video game programmer we
have Dona Bailey who in 1980 became the first woman to design an arcade game. As a matter of
fact the majority of the gaming community has played this game at least one time in their lives, this

Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection Paper
Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are the most common type of hospital
acquired infections (HAI) and account for more than 30% of those reported in acute care
hospitals (National Healthcare Safety Network, n.d.). The National Healthcare Safety Network
(n.d.) announced there are an estimated 449,334 cases of CAUTI each year which costs the
United States annually over $340 million and unfortunately results in 13,000 deaths each year.
The aim of this performance improvement is to seek out and present implementation of best
practices and ways to prevent CAUTI. This paper identifies one of The Joint Commission safety
goals, a situation in need of change, data related to the problem, develops a plan for change and
data analysis, and identifies potential supporters and opposers, as well as, strategies to build a
coalition of supporters. Lewin s force field model of change will be used to prepare and implement
the change process with discussion of anticipated resistance, strategies to manage the resistance,

Neonatal hypoglycemia is a global health problem and a preventable cause of neurological injury
in newborn period. Approximately 1/5th of neonates have a risk of being hypoglycemic. Some of
these infants fail to normalize their blood glucose by feeds alone and require intravenous (IV)
dextrose therapy. In our institution, IV dextrose therapy is offered in the neonatal intensive care
unit (NICU). This leads to separation of mother from baby and undue anxiety affecting bonding and
breastfeeding. Also leads to increased hospitalization costs. A large number of asymptomatic
neonates are screened for hypoglycemia due to well established relationship between prolonged
hypoglycemia and neurological impairment (1). Approximately 10% of these asymptomatic

Jfk Assassination Conspiracy Essay
After the assassination of John F. Kennedy, there were a lot of conspiracies regarding the
mastermind behind the assassination. President Kennedy was assassinated due to him seeking
a way out of the Cold war and starting negotiations with Soviet Union. Charlene Fitsimmons, a
friend of JFK was told by an agent named Gary Underhill that he was killed by CIA and that
Oswald was a CIA agent. He was helped and was set up by CIA to go for it. According to Gary,
there were clear evidences of how they made their way through and he couldn t believe that they
got away with it but they did.
A renowned writer named Matthew Smith writes in his book JFK: The Second Plot that Lee
Harvey Oswald was serving in Marines when he was recruited as a CIA agent. A former CIA
man, Wilcott claimed that Oswald had been recruited from the military for the express purpose of
becoming a double agent assignment. Oswald was under very little freedom under the soviets and
soviets were quite suspicious of him, so CIA decided to bring Oswald back home for good.
Smith insists that Oswald was taken over and run by CIA agents who were devoted to the

Effects Of World War I On America
Effects of World War I on America
Basic Work Rough Draft
World War I was a bloody and gruesome war that drew in many countries from around the world.
It lasted from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. As mentioned, there were many countries
involved in World War I. These countries were separated into two clashing alliances: The Triple
Entente, involving the powers of France, Britain and Germany; as well as the Central Powers which
involved the powers of Germany, Austria Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. Later, when
the United States joined the war, they allied with the Triple Entente.
There were a few factors that caused World War I, one of these factors was nationalism.
Nationalism, a patriotic feeling of superiority over other countries, actuated conflicts mainly in
Europe. Many Europeans maintained a strong belief that their nation was the most powerful and
supreme in the world. Newspapers began, so as to call it, dissing other nations saying that their
nations had a better economy, better military system, and better culture. Politicians and the royals
did very little to stop this uncalled for nationalism coming from the Europeans, in fact, some even
partook in the raves themselves. It assured the Europeans that their nation was fair and ethical,
while other opposing nations were aggressive, untrustworthy, and vulgar. This convinced them that
opposing nations were a threat.
Another factor that caused World War I was the competition between different

Myrtle Wilson Character Analysis
Myrtle Wilson is a superficial woman, who despite being fortuneless and living in the Valley Of
Ashes herself, judges others based on their appearances. On Myrtle s way to see her sister,
Myrtle encounters Tom Buchanan. Tom is a wealthy man, Myrtle sees him on the train, and the
first thing that catches her sight is his dress suit . Clothes say a lot about an individual. They can
make an impression on others because clothes reflect the traits and personality of a person. In this
instance, Tom s suit is too formal for a train ride. His attire catches Myrtle s attention, to her, his
clothing represents his wealth and high class. Myrtle is intrigued by Tom s expensive suit. Myrtle
s husband had to borrow a suit for their wedding, signifying that he does not have any money to
buy one for himself. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Myrtle further examines Tom s appearance and goes on to acknowledge his white shirt front .
The color white represents purity, success and nobleness but can also be associated with
hollowness, coldness, superficiality and ruthlessness. In this case, his shirt represents his
appearance while front means façade. Tom appears as wealthy, pure and desirable to Myrtle
when in fact, he has on a façade and is hollow, selfish and superficial instead. Myrtle cannot
distinguish between the two and is captivated by the way he lives and carries himself. When
Mrs. McKee compliments Myrtle on her dress, she condescendingly shrugs it off and offers her
the dress as she has got to get another one tomorrow . Myrtle implies that the dress is of value to
her and since she is very rich, she can just get one whenever she wants. She cares greatly about
her own physical appearance and gives clothes a lot of importance. Myrtle puts up a façade as
well, and wants people to judge her based on her appearance just as she judges them on theirs, thus
implying her

What Ifs Cognitive Distortion
I have found that I often fall victim to the What Ifs cognitive distortion; I frequently ruminate on
what could happen or what I could have done differently in a particular situation. I have always
been a very cautious individual and I sometimes obsess over how my decisions impact others
and what others might think of my decisions or behavior. I feel that this has a lot to do with my
childhood experiences and my drive to be the perfect child , which is of course is not possible
and not expected. I was an over thinker who wanted to ensure that I did not cause my parents, the
stress and heartache they had experienced as a result of the behavior of my older sister. There
were also very high expectations that were set by my parents, as

Comparing Beowulf And Gilgamesh
The Babylonian Gilgamesh and the Christian Priest Beowulf both feature important heroes. An
important part of a hero s journey is the transformation that the hero s character goes through over
the course of the story. In Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is an ill mannered king, while in Beowulf;
Beowulf is a great warrior for his town. These two works show the different processes of a heroand
the process they must go through to be remembered as one. Gilgamesh includes the idea that he
can go on a journey to find the cure, for him to become immortal and live forever. By contrast,
Beowulfgoes on a journey by going on a mission to defeat the great monster Grendel. Elsewhere in

These hero s second and third journeys within themselves would have to be the main and lowest
points in their lives. In Gilgamesh, we see the once arrogant king becoming weak and lost.
Gilgamesh is searching for the right path to take to try and make his life better. His character is
sad and depressed and needs guidance on the right path to take. As the author states, Therefore,
Gilgamesh decides to seek out Utnapishtim, who alone of human beings has achieved immortality.
Gilgamesh stops at the inn of the alewife Siduri to ask for directions to Utnapishtim land. She tells
Gilgamesh that he will first need to find Urshanabi and that Urshanabi can take him to see
Utnapishtim. Later that same author mentions, When Gilgamesh asks Utnapishtim how he
became immortal, Utnapishtim relates the Flood myth Utnapishtim explains that his own
immortality was a special case, a direct byproduct of the Flood. If, however, Gilgamesh really
wants to become immortal, Utnapishtim says, he should first stay awake for six days and seven
nights. Exhausted by his travels, Gilgamesh quickly falls asleep and sleeps for six days and seven
nights, until Utnapishtim wakes him. Then Gilgamesh knows for sure: he is going to die. In
contrast Beowulf is also faced with some big decisions to make to protect his small town. Since

Jack Welch s Transformation Case Study
When first looking at this article it is hard to pinpoint exactly what the core problem would be,
because the case study looks at the transformation created by Jack Welch over two decades. The
case study explains the changes made overtime that made the company become what it was by the
end of the two decade transformation. That leads readers to look at what could have had the most
impact on the company, and for this particular case study the impact came from the drastic changes
made by Welch when he became CEO in 1981. While the changewas not terrible there are ways to
handle it better from the beginning instead of trying to fix it in the end. According to Ken and Scott
Blanchard s article about the best ways to bring change into a company there are six steps:
breakdown communication, plan your action, sell the change, collaborate smartly, refine for
success, and give your next change initiative its best chance (Blanchard, 2013).
Using the information given from the article written by Ken and Scott Blanchard, the change set in
place by Jack Welch did not follow all of these rules. For instance, the step of breaking down
communication. The article explains this portion as sharing what the change is as plainly and
completely as possible. After that initial portion of communication the article says executives
should be willing to get personal. According to the article, once information concerns are satisfied,
people will want to know how the change will affect them

Misconceptions And Misinformation Regarding How Educators...
There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation concerning how educators can teach reading,
spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers do not
focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach
phonics. It is an educator s responsibility to implement different teaching approaches to teach their
students phonicsin an appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in
different words. This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching
approaches that teachers can use to teach phonics effectively, toward enhancing motivation and
engagement of student learning.
Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an
understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and
these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails developing
learners ability to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes or alphabet knowledge to teach the
correspondence between sounds and spelling patterns that represent them in the written language.
For students to learn to read and spell using phonics they must understand the relationship between
sounds (phonemes) of letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific
letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on
developing

Discover Your True North
Can Discover Your True North Truly Develop an Authentic Leader? Most people, at some point
in time, have desired to assume a position of leadership, in any form or capacity; however, few

diencephalon compromises of the thalamus and the hypothalamus, the forebrain includes the basal
ganglia and amygdala while the function of the brainstem is to form a connection between the

the evolutionary period. This is because, during the evolutionary period, brains have developed in a
structure that enables mammals to adapt to their environment. For example the forebrain in
mammals has evolves to fulfil this function of adaptability of behaviour to the external world
(Maclean cited in Hendelman, 2000). Therefore, this has resulted in a different functions and roles
of the limbic system in terms of adapting to environments such as fright and how to react in fearful
situations. However, the functions of

Nature In A Midsummer s Night Dream
There are numerous similarities between the nature of love and nature itself, as they are both
chaotic. We, as a race, are unfaithful creatures who withdraw from our choices dreadfully fast
without much thought. In A Midsummer s Night Dream, Demetrius, Lysander, and even Queen
Titania, end up distracted and shifting who they loveregularly. Love shifts and becomes irregular
often, yet most would endure anything for it.
Love continually changes. Whether or not it s due to love juice is besides the point. (Demetrius to

Effects of Trade Restrictions
Trade restrictions are an excellent example of government introduced sources of rents. The
importation of goods becomes custom to tighter immigration restrictions. The licences required for
importing the goods become more valuable, leading to corruption between importers and officials.
Trade restrictions are often done to protect an industry from foreign competition. With this prices
can be artificially inflated creating a semi monopoly for the local industry. Local manufactures will
feel a high from the boom in the industry and may bribe influential politicians to keep the
monopoly going. Studies have indicated that country s which have open economies are linked to
lower corruption rates. (Mauro, 1997)
An example of trade restrictions is the Hainan Island Vehicle binge in 1984. A 260% importduty
was imposed across china which was to reduce the number of imported automobiles entering the
country. The Island of Hainan was exempt from the import duty in an effort to boost development.
Eric Harwit states that unfortunately, Hainan officials took advantage of the lenient rule to import
tens of thousands of cars and other vehicles, mostly from japan and resold the automobiles at
premiums of three to five times the purchase cost to other mainland provinces. (Harwit)
Government subsidies can constitute a source of rents. A perfect example of a current issue would
be the privation of the UKs railway industry in 1996. Since the privatatation the government has

Baseball is a very fascinating sport; it has evolved over the past 150 years! Baseball is fascinating
in many ways like the history, the rules of the game, the World Series, MLB draft and baseball
heroes!
The history is very interesting! The game was invented in 1839 by Doubleday! He invented it in
New York! He made a diamond and made up positions and rules! When it was first invented they
would catch of the bounce and that s how they could get out!
The rules of the game are simple if you don t over think them! The pitcher throws the ball to the
catcher. If the batter hits the ball he can run as far as he wants to without him getting out! If

Friedel-Crafts Acylation Lab Report
The Friedel Crafts acylation reaction is an important and valuable electrophilic aromatic substitution
reaction. First introduced in 1912 by Charles Friedel and James M. Crafts, this reaction allows large
multi step reactions to take place, and creates numerous types of products.1 Today, Friedel Crafts
reactions are among the most used electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions. In the electrophilic
aromatic substitution class of reactions, functional groupsare substituted onto an aromatic ring.2
Products such as ketones, hydrocarbons and phenols, phenol ethers, and keto acids can be produced
by electrophilic aromatic substitution.1 These products can then undergo other reactions, allowing
for the creation of many types of products. The products acquired can be used for a range of
purposes, such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, etcetera.3 In particular, Friedel Crafts acylation
reactions result in a product containing a ketone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The functional group added during a Friedel Crafts acylation reaction, deactivates the ring, resulting
in a mono substituted ring rather that a poly substituted ring, which is produced from a Friedel
Crafts alkylation reaction.4 The mono substituted product is then further reduced to get an alkyl
substituted ring instead of yielding a product containing a ketone. To obtain the ketone product, an
acyl group is added to an aromatic ring. However, for this reaction to take place, no electron
withdrawing groups can be present on the aromatic ring, and an acyl halide must be used to obtain
the acyl cation.5 These limitations are met, in the Friedel Crafts acylation reaction of anisole with

Short Story Of Where The Red Fern Grows
A story about an adventurous kid his hounds hunting, winning competitions and facing death
In the beginning of the story Where The Red Fern Grows a boy named Billy saw a group of dogs
fighting on the street. Billy stopped the dogs from fighting and noticed a red hound all beat up. He
took the hound home, fed him, washed him, and released him. This made him remember his old
days of owning a hound.
When Billy was 10 he wanted two hunting hounds but his family couldn t afford it. Billy had a
sickness called puppy love so he couldn t help asking for puppies. One day he saved and worked
for his money to get two puppy hounds. He named the dogs Old Dan and Little Ann. Billy and
his dogs had so many adventures of hunting racoons. Billy once caught a ghost racoon that has
never been caught before all thanks to his dogs. Billy s dogs help him become a coon hunting
expert! The dogs would never let a coon go even if it was a stormy night. Old Dan and Little Ann
were Billy s best friends. They would always stick together and never leave each other.
One day Billy s grandfather signed him up for a racoon hunting competition. Billy was super
excited and his dogs were too. Papa, grandpa, and the hounds all went hunting with Billy. They
all stayed at a campsite and ate their breakfast. That morning Billy got his first cup of coffee. It
made him feel older and excited to have his very first cup of coffee. After breakfast, Billy and his

Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book
Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way
more descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not
as descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening.
Finally, movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are
pretty cool because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined
before. The book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version
because the book includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first
important character to the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s... Show

Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to
the underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands.
Even though he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds
detail to the storyline though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed
to be in the underworld get in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story.
Finally the Three Kindly Ones are important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of
them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy
Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come back to life. They aren t as important as other
characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once. That shows they are in the story but not
necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to read about. Ms. Dodds is the only
one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the movie too. However, they do
work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though they didn t hurt Percy they
still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more interesting. That s why the

Saint Augustine s Shift Of Pears In The Confessions
Reading the passage of Saint Augustine s theft of pears in The Confessions, I was somewhat
intrigued at how such a trivial event has such a large impact on his adult life. But as I got to
thinking about that time period and compared the justice system to the modern day justice
system, I realized a trivial event in my own life that still has a large impact on me today. I think
that there is at least one event in a teenager s life that really shakes them and I can vividly
remember one of mine: a terrifyingly panic filled... warning. I remember wanting to be in my cozy
bed on a cold December night about two years ago. I was drivingback from a midnight soccer
game, so I was already tired, so I decided that I just really wanted to be home. As I got nearer, I
got more tired and decided to go a little faster. Soon, I was going eighteen miles per hour over the
thirty five miles per hour limit and had blown through two stop signs. I only wanted to be home
and there was no one in the area, so I thought, why not, this can t hurt . As soon as I blow through

The Reign Of Alexander The Great
Alexander the Great In 338 BC Phillip II of Macedonia, became ruler of Greece after a lengthy
battle. Phillip s plans to war against Persia were cut short when he was assassinated in 336 BC.
Speculation suggest that Phillip s previous wife, Olympias and his son Alexander may have
been involved in the assassination plot. The murder had taken place after Olympias and
Alexander were forced out of Macedonia once Phillip had remarried Cleopatra, who was much
younger. In the wake of his father s death, 20 year old Alexander III of Macedonia seized the
throne. The reign of Alexander the Great (336 323 BC) would change Asia and Europe forever.
As the crowned ruler Alexander was not in competent, he had received some of the finest
education, including tutoring by great philosopher Aristotle. While still just a teen Alexander had
become a soldier. In 338, Alexander took charge of the Companion Calvary and assisted his father
in defeating the Athenian and Theban armies. After becoming the feudal ruler of Macedonia
Alexander didn t automatically gain complete control. Once he had support of the Macedonian
army the troops helped Alexander eliminate any other possible heirs to the throne. After that was
accomplished, Alexander had to persuade the Greeks to recognize him as ruler. He did this by
sending his army south and destroying the city of Thebes. That massacre took all of 3 days. His
intimidation tactic proved beneficial, other city states quickly chose to pledge their alliance

Graphic Design And Advertising
Graphic Design and Advertising Positive Impact on Our World.
Vision is the art of seeing the invisible ( Jonathon Swift). We have been indulging in the arts and
have used art as a way to express and interact with the people surrounding us. To the carved images
on rocks, and to the cartoons shown on the TV, the evolution of Graphic Designhas shown us the
importance of typography, photographers, illustrators etc. have on our society. When paper,
ink, and pencils didn t exist, our ancestors would carve their warnings, messages, and emotions
on rocks and walls. Our ancestors don t realize that such small acts such as these was the
beginning of a huge movement, that wouldn t be recognized until thousands years later. During
the 16th century, China was able to establish a technique called woodblock printing or, the
application of ink on raised curved surface, that allowed multiple text and images to be made
quickly. China s wide extension of printing slowly reached the middle east and caused Europe to
start producing woodblock broadsides and printed books. The first printing press was
constructed by Johannes Gutenberg, which was the first metal movable type to create a large
amount of printed books. In the Old days books were very rare, expensive and were very valuable.
The creation of the Printing press allowed books to be done faster, cheaper and it allowed books to
be more accessible to the public. Graphic Design or the art or skill of combining text and pictures in

Pros And Cons Of Recidivism Rates
As of the end of 2015, there were 1,526,800 prisoners in the United States being held in state or
federal correctional facilities. Every year, thousands of people are released from jail or prison.
Most people who are incarcerated today will eventually be released. Most of these individuals
return to a life of freedom without the skills they need to survive. Recidivismrates suggest that
many of these individuals will re offend within six months of release, and most will reoffend
within three years. This is not because they re bad people; it s because they are trying to thrive in a
system that sets them up to fail.
Given grim post release arrest rates, it s hard to understand why our government is not doing more
to help those transitioning from incarceration to life on the outside. It doesn t make sense for
taxpayer dollars to go towards incarcerating people over and over it seems that the money could be
better spent improving rehabilitation programs for inmates. Increased funding for programs aimed
at helping former inmates transition to life on the outside would likely lead to better outcomes for
those individuals, fewer crimes being committed, and lower recidivism rates. One would hope that
our society would want to see people who are incarcerated serve their time, get rehabilitated, get
released, and become productive members of their communities.
It is well known that former inmates face significant challenges upon being released. Some of these
challenges include

Popular Culture From Musicals Like Wicked With Its Popular...
Popularity is one of the most prevalent themes in adolescents experience in school and social
development. It shapes how they interact with peers, adults, and their selves. This theme is
explored and emphasized in popular culture from musicals like Wicked with its popular song titled
Popular to television shows like Sabrina the teenage witch, Glee, 90210, etc. How popular an
adolescent is defines who they are, in that it shapes where they stand amongst peers and their self
perception of their self value. Psychological research and theories support much of the popular
culture perceptions and beliefs about popularity. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific
Adaptation Away From Our Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most
commonly studied peer interaction phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one
of the following standard sociometric categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and
controversial. These studies faded away for two main reasons. The first is that this model neglected
to take the school structure into consideration when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the
transition between classes starting in middle school students no longer have a small and stable
social component that social interactions and sociometric status could be based on. The second is
that popularity depends on the adolescents perception of popularity rather than how well liked an
adolescent is. Popularity heavily depends on the

Attribution theory states that there are internal and external explanations for work family and

perceptions. Depending on you learned perception, it can be passed off as that s the way it is, in a
naive way, or a deliberate way, either way it applies to this situation.
Equity Theory, although her feeling of inequity did probably strongly apply in the end. This also
played a part in her departure, this was a result of the chain reaction of events, and not the main

Q3. Identify some theoretical linkages between Ebbers s leadership style as practiced and the

Answer: Ebbers self inflicted, self centered, transactional leadership style paved the way for the

transformational leader leads subordinates to achieve goals for all. The main issue is trust, a trait
that is higher in transformational than in transactional leadership (Principles of Management, 2015).

Analysis Of Blood Meridian Or The Evening Redness Of The West
Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West, is a novel written by an author by the name
of Cormac McCarthy. Cormac McCarthy wrote this to show a teenage runaway perspective of
living on your own during the late 1800 s. Throughout this novel, McCarthy shows the reader the
feeling of being in hell and describing a kid s journey through hell. This eye opening novel takes
place in Texas, Mexicoand the American Southwest, Circa. This historical fiction novel is
surprisingly accurate when describing the events that occurred during the situations in the
Southwestern U.S. and Mexico around the 1850 s. McCarthy s Blood Meridian contains a lot of
violent and bloody events that build up to the subjugation of the Apaches, as well as other Native
tribes, and the southwestern expansion of the United Statesof America. All these events are proven
to be an accurate description of the way Indigenous people were treated and how they lived
throughout this time. The story Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness of the West, explains a
couple of the major frontier themes of a man s kinship for violence, religion, and power in the
Western American History. These can be found as the theme depending on the way the reader
interprets it. The story represents the traditions of the American Southwest, as the kid meets
different people with different perspectives on life. This novel describes a journey of a young boy,

Along with the changing job description, administrators are facing increased demands from the

where every social NGO s working for it. Even the culture where everyone lives together now
follows similar merits as in the west. Perhaps the generation gap between the two ultimately
worsens the beauty of relationship of experience and talent. Even all the religions of the world unite
on one cause i.e. to respect the elderly. All of them prohibited to behave badly with parents, not
even allowing speaking in harsh language with them.
There are various reasons that children send their parents to spend their life lonely but the time
when they need us a lot we leave them alone. If they wouldn t bring up so we shall be spending
life in a destructive way. But they taught us, spend a lot of money in our education in our food and
other necessity of life. We can t even repay them but we are adopting western culture. Unclear
family system is promoting very fast because they basically forget the sacrifices of their parents.
Most people say nowadays everything is getting expensive, we can t afford to take care of parents
and then leave them in old age home , but if they don t have money to spend on them so how they

The Effects Of Social Media On Society Essay
Social media has become prominent parts of life for many young people today. Most people
engage with social media without stopping to think what the effects are on our lives, whether
positive or negative. Are we as a society becoming more concerned with Facebook friends than
we are with the people we interact with face to face in our daily lives? What will the longterm
effects of today s social media use be? There are many positive aspects, but there are equally as
many dangers that come with the use of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest,
Google +, Tumblr, Instagram, gaming sites, and blogs. Social media has both negative and
positive effects on society, it is up to the user to decide what impact they want to make. In order to
make the right choices, we must dig in and research this topic thoroughly. Recent research has
documented how technology, and social networking sites (SNS; e.g., Facebook, Instagram) in
particular, have given rise to a growing obsession with impression management and self
presentation online. Whether it s searching for the perfect Instagram photo filter or carefully
crafting a humblebrag Facebook status about a recent publication, users frequently engage in
selective self presentation strategies to portray an ideal self through social media (Chou Edge,
2012; Manago, Graham, Greenfield, Salimkhan, 2008). In turn, we seek out social approval and
positive feedback in the form of comments and likes. With steep increases in the

Golden Ratios In The Great Pyramids
Introduction:
Background:
The Golden Ratio, also known as phi, is an extraordinary number that is similar to the figure pi as
it s digits are infinite however the digits do not repeat themselves. The Greek philosopher
Pythagoras discovered the Golden Ratio. (1) He discovered it while studying patterns and recurring
numbers. The golden ratio can be applied in many different areas of our world from space to the
shells of snails. It can be found in the architecture of the Greek and Roman structures and
monuments and also in the modern buildings and structures around the world.
Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used the golden ratio for art, architecture and sculptures. The ancient
Egyptians viewed this number as a divine number and incorporated it ... Show more content on

The golden ratio in nature:
Hurricanes and the milk way:
According to research, the patterns and shapes that hurricanes form are very much alike to the
patterns and shape that the Milky Way forms. We will explore an example now:
Here is the Milky Way where we can notice there are many spiral shapes; these are very much
present in the shapes, which possess qualities of the golden ratio:
Here is the Milky Way with the golden ratio proportions, we can see that these proportions fit
perfectly with the shape of the Milky Way and this shows us that there is a mathematical
phenomenon present as the golden ratio is a perfect number: The measurements are: (in cm) a =
2.5 b=1.5 The formula is:
(a+b)/a=( a)/b=1.618

Simulated Prison Experiment By Philip Zimbardo
Individuals are constantly forced to make moral decisions that many of them do not fully
understand the reason behind it. These decisions are made daily in our work and personal lives
without ever knowing the consequences. The Stanford Prison Experiment of 1971 conducted by
Professor Philip Zimbardo wanted to observe the psychological effects of ordinary people that
were placed in a simulated prisonenvironment (Morality, 2014). Zimbardo selected twenty four
healthy and mentally stable male college students for the experimentand placed them in a mock
prison. The experiment was conducted in the basement of the Stanford psychology building. Half
of the participants were assigned the role of a guard or prisoner by random. The prisoners were...

More importantly, this research study helped avoid future poorly constructed social experiments
from occurring again. A bad evil was done to help further understanding and prevention.
To understand other perspective views on the social experiment, I explained the experiment other
three other individuals. A person close to me I explained the experiment to was my girlfriend
Christine. She is very reserved and a pacifist. Her reaction was rational but felt the experiment was
unethical for the guards to purposely abuse and dehumanize the prisoners when they were initially
healthy. She believes when you give individual authority and power that they previously did not
have before will surely abuse it.
Another individual I explained the social experiment to is my female co worker Jacqueline who is
a tough minded single mother. Her reaction to the subject matter was very indifferent. However,
she believed the experiment was ethical to do since all the participants should have know what
they were getting themselves into. She believed it would help shape an individuals mind set to
prepare them in the future if placed in a difficult

Adult Development Attachment Analysis
Adult Development Interview: Attachment Across a Life Span The notion of attachment and the
attachment theory are primarily associated to John Bowlby, who s articulation of attachment
diverged significantly from all previous theories concerning the importance of social and emotional
bonds formed by a child. The propensity to search for contact with a care giver was not a derived
from inclination, but subsisted as a primary and permanent drive (Broderick Blewitt.2015).
Essentially, the attachment theorychallenged theories of social learning, along with psychoanalysis.
According to social learning theories, attachment is formed with those persons who satisfy social
needs, while psychanalysis maintains that the child creates a deep connection

Go Ask Alice Addiction
Go Ask Alice is a young adult book written by an anonymous author, and published in 1971. The
novel tells the story of a fourteen year old girl in 1968 who writes about her experiences in a
diary. The unnamed protagonist falls into a life filled with drug addiction, and is forced to deal
with the consequences of it. She creates a life for herself that includes being raped, being
bullied and eventually drugged, and having to become a prostitute to provide for her drug
addiction. In both the epilogue and back cover of the book, it is revealed that the protagonist
was either not able to overcome her addiction, or was drugged by her peers, and died of an
overdose. Go Ask Alice, while upsetting in nature, is a book that shows the true dangers of drug
addiction. What started off as a little bit of LSD, became a life of taking any drugs the protagonist
could get her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Go Ask Alice is a reminder that drugs aren t always what they seem to be in today s society, they
can lead you onto a dark path that could ruin your life, and potentially end it. Because of this, the
anonymous author s apparent true story of her addiction is a great read. The story may be a bit
older, but it is still relevant to teenage life today. Go Ask Alice takes the reader into something
personal, a story of apparent real life drug addiction, something that is not often explored even
now. This creates an important story with an even more important message for teenagers, both
in 1971 and 2018. Go Ask Alice was adapted into a television movie in 1973. While some of the
content from the book had to be edited for a more family friendly film, the movie does manage
to keep some of the key points of the original Go Ask Alice, and maintain the character s
personalities. Expectedly, the basic plot of the book is the same in the film, a young girl faces
drug addiction. A scene almost identical to the book where the protagonist takes drugs for the first
time, up until they later remove a scene due to

It lasted from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. As mentioned, there were many countries involved in World War I. These countries were separated into two clashing alliances: The Triple Entente, involving the powers of France, Britain and Germany; as well as the Central Powers which involved the powers of Germany, Austria Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. • 25. Effects of Trade Restrictions Trade restrictions are an excellent example of government introduced sources of rents. The importation of goods becomes custom to tighter immigration restrictions. The licences required for importing the goods become more valuable, leading to corruption between importers and officials. Trade restrictions are often done to protect an industry from foreign competition. With this prices can be artificially inflated creating a semi monopoly for the local industry. Local manufactures will feel a high from the boom in the industry and may bribe influential politicians to keep the monopoly going. Studies have indicated that country s which have open economies are linked to lower corruption rates. (Mauro, 1997) An example of trade restrictions is the Hainan Island Vehicle binge in 1984. A 260% importduty was imposed across china which was to reduce the number of imported automobiles entering the country. The Island of Hainan was exempt from the import duty in an effort to boost development. Eric Harwit states that unfortunately, Hainan officials took advantage of the lenient rule to import tens of thousands of cars and other vehicles, mostly from japan and resold the automobiles at premiums of three to five times the purchase cost to other mainland provinces. (Harwit) Government subsidies can constitute a source of rents. A perfect example of a current issue would be the privation of the UKs railway industry in 1996. In the electrophilic aromatic substitution class of reactions, functional groupsare substituted onto an aromatic ring.2 Products such as ketones, hydrocarbons and phenols, phenol ethers, and keto acids can be produced by electrophilic aromatic substitution.1 These products can then undergo other reactions, allowing for the creation of many types of products. Most of these individuals return to a life of freedom without the skills they need to survive. Recidivismrates suggest that many of these individuals will re offend within six months of release, and most will reoffend within three years. This is not because they re bad people; it s because they are trying to thrive in a system that sets them up to fail. Given grim post release arrest rates, it s hard to understand why our government is not doing more to help those transitioning from incarceration to life on the outside. It doesn t make sense for taxpayer dollars to go towards incarcerating people over and over it seems that the money could be better spent improving rehabilitation programs for inmates. Increased funding for programs aimed at helping former inmates transition to life on the outside would likely lead to better outcomes for those individuals, fewer crimes being committed, and lower recidivism rates. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific Adaptation Away From Our Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most commonly studied peer interaction phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one of the following standard sociometric categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and controversial. These studies faded away for two main reasons. The first is that this model neglected to take the school structure into consideration when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the transition between classes starting in middle school students no longer have a small and stable social component that social interactions and sociometric status could be based on. (3) The golden ratio in nature: Hurricanes and the milk way: According to research, the patterns and shapes that hurricanes form are very much alike to the patterns and shape that the Milky Way forms. We will explore an example now: Here is the Milky Way where we can notice there are many spiral shapes; these are very much present in the shapes, which possess qualities of the golden ratio: Here is the Milky Way with the golden ratio proportions, we can see that these proportions fit perfectly with the shape of the Milky Way and this shows us that there is a mathematical phenomenon present as the golden ratio is a perfect number: The measurements are: (in cm) a = 2.5 b=1.5 The formula is: (a+b)/a=( a)/b=1.618 In this ... • 48. Simulated Prison Experiment By Philip Zimbardo Individuals are constantly forced to make moral decisions that many of them do not fully understand the reason behind it. These decisions are made daily in our work and personal lives without ever knowing the consequences. The Stanford Prison Experiment of 1971 conducted by Professor Philip Zimbardo wanted to observe the psychological effects of ordinary people that were placed in a simulated prisonenvironment (Morality, 2014). Zimbardo selected twenty four healthy and mentally stable male college students for the experimentand placed them in a mock prison. The experiment was conducted in the basement of the Stanford psychology building. Half of the participants were assigned the role of a guard or prisoner by random. The prisoners were... A bad evil was done to help further understanding and prevention. To understand other perspective views on the social experiment, I explained the experiment other three other individuals. A person close to me I explained the experiment to was my girlfriend Christine. She is very reserved and a pacifist. Her reaction was rational but felt the experiment was unethical for the guards to purposely abuse and dehumanize the prisoners when they were initially healthy. She believes when you give individual authority and power that they previously did not have before will surely abuse it. Another individual I explained the social experiment to is my female co worker Jacqueline who is a tough minded single mother. Her reaction to the subject matter was very indifferent. However, she believed the experiment was ethical to do since all the participants should have know what they were getting themselves into. She believed it would help shape an individuals mind set to prepare them in the future if placed in a difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essentially, the attachment theorychallenged theories of social learning, along with psychoanalysis. Go Ask Alice, while upsetting in nature, is a book that shows the true dangers of drug addiction. Go Ask Alice is a reminder that drugs aren t always what they seem to be in today s society, they can lead you onto a dark path that could ruin your life, and potentially end it. Because of this, the anonymous author s apparent true story of her addiction is a great read. The story may be a bit older, but it is still relevant to teenage life today. Go Ask Alice takes the reader into something personal, a story of apparent real life drug addiction, something that is not often explored even now. This creates an important story with an even more important message for teenagers, both in 1971 and 2018. Go Ask Alice was adapted into a television movie in 1973. While some of the content from the book had to be edited for a more family friendly film, the movie does manage to keep some of the key points of the original Go Ask Alice, and maintain the character s personalities. Expectedly, the basic plot of the book is the same in the film, a young girl faces drug addiction. A scene almost identical to the book where the protagonist takes drugs for the first time, up until they later remove a scene due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
