Wasted Green on Going Green Essay
The amount of energy it takes to produce a car can actually offset the amount of emissions emitted
throughout a car s lifetime. When thinking about energy efficiency, the ultimate green car , the
Prius, is actually one of the sources of the worse pollution in North America! (Demorro). The
Toyota Prius, known as the most iconic green car, earns itself the most miles per gallon with the
efficiency of using two engines, one of them being an electric. Controversially, the electric engine
heavily relies on the use of rare earth elements which production comes almost exclusively from
China. Alongside with China s hazardous mining techniques and careless refining practices, the top
two rare earth elements used for hybrids are seen also as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pooling together all of the accumulated energy it takes to drive and build a Toyota Prius, the head
honcho of the green movement, the Hummer H1 takes fifty percent less energy to manufacture and
maintain (Demorro). Adding onto the Hummer H1 s durability, the added production costs, and
maintenance, the Toyota Prius is nonexistent in the green efficiency standards. The fragility of
the Toyota Prius, in comparison, reveals that the technology for hybrid cars are still in the infant
stages, requiring attention to detail on the efficient electric engine. Hybrid cars, such as the
Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight, offer two engines instead of one, a fuel efficient gas engine
and an electric engine that produces no emissions. Hybrids are the most gasoline efficient of all
cars they typically get 48 to 60 miles per gallon (claimed). Not bad, but only about twenty to
thirty five percent better than a fuel efficient gasoline powered vehicle like the Honda Civic, for
example, that gets 36 miles per gallon (Dunn). In comparison to regular gasoline fueled vehicles,
hybrid cars only boast a measly twenty five percent increase in fuel economy with the standard
Honda Civics cutting the closest with an average thirty six miles per gallon. Although manufacture
s miles per gallon boasts great numbers, the actual claimed mileage by drivers is reduced roughly

Heroine Complex Essay
I just realized I ve never rated Heroine Complex upon reading it last year. I m completely blown
away by this book. In our age where superhero is the new pop culture, it s quite difficult to find a
series featuring women of color as the center of heroic resistance. There s a few representations
for POC in comics and other medium content but that s only a scrap if we re going to compare it
on how white peopledominate every single genre. This is why Heroine Complex is equally
refreshing. It frames a different kind of norm in superherouniverse while simultaneously providing
an entertaining, swoony story.
The book follows Evie Tanaka, the best friend and assistant of San Francisco s most reveled
superheroine Aveda Jupiter. Their usual dynamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dynamics between characters are one of my favorite kinks while reading, it s not a surprise
I will focus on that element! Props to Kuhn because this book focuses on a heroine who s usually
the sidekick. Evie doesn t have a flair for dramatics, she s level headed, passionate, and reliable.
She s been the assistant of Aveda since her best friend donned her costume. Unfortunately, their
friendship isn t all sunshine and rainbows. Her boss is demanding, manipulative, and so self
consumed. There s power imbalance between them, and Aveda just knows what the right words to
say to Evie to make her do something. She sounds so awful, that s because she is. The narrative
didn t excuse how she s been unappreciative. Instead, there s emphasis on repairing the friendship
between them and there s self love and healing.
My frigid heart couldn t help but to be swayed with Aveda s arc. Everyone seems to love her, but
nobody really knows the true her. She s hardworking, she has visions for herself. She s not
naturally born with talents (whatever that means,) she has to work hard for it. The tragedy
someone can do it better than her. On the outside, she seems to have everything, she s untouchable;
but truly she s just another girl who s are still stuck by her insecurities and inadequacies. I can t
wait to see her progress in Heroine Worship.
This review is a mess, full review to come. You can expect hate to love otp and beautiful

Cretaceous Time Period Research Paper
Cretaceous Period
Everyone knows about the dinosaurs and how they went extinct. This was one of the major
events that took place in the Cretaceous Time Period. The Cretaceous Period was the longest and
last of three time periods in the Mesozoic Era. This time period lasted from about 144 million
years ago until about million years ago (about 79 million years), and over that 79 million years the
earth changed dramatically. Way back in the Cretaceousall of earth s land was together in one big
super continent we call Pangea. The average temperature was warmer throughout earth then in
comparison to present day. The north and south poles were still colder than places along the
equator even back then. But still, the earth was warmer than it is now with excessive rains in some
places and little to no rain in deserts. Maybe the most notable ... Show more content on

Approximately 65.5 million years ago most of the planet s land animals and many of the animals
in the seas went extinct. As far as we know this was caused by a massive asteroid colliding with
earth in what is now the Chicxulub crater in the Yucatan peninsula. The collision is thought to have
caused tsunamis and clouds of hot dust were sent into the atmosphere and probably started huge
wild fires. Many of the animals that survived all of that would later die when the sun was blocked
out for months or possibly years causing temperatures to drop and plants to die.
I would not like to have lived in the Cretaceous Period. For one thing pretty much all of the
planet s land area was in a much hotter climate than we live in which I don t think I would like.
Another reason is the fact that the land and plants were different in a way that may have been
interesting to see but not so great to live in. And of course the obvious reason that there were still
dinosaurs which would probably be pretty dangerous and make life

Football And Wrestling Analysis
From all these images presented above, all my images connect to the theme of passion through
my two favorite sports of football and wrestling. Football and wrestling have both played a vital
role in who I am today. They have developed my character through experiences, which I have
learned and will take with me for the rest of my life. All the images presented above share and
reveal the element of passion, through my actions, physical presence, and facial expressions.
Possessing the emotional state of passion unequivocally serves as an advantageous element in my
life. Possession of passion leads to me to reach my goals reach success in my life. Furthermore,
passion enables me to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. My growth of my character was

choose to suffer for a temporary amount of time due to arising challenges during my journey, so I
could find attain fulfillment when I succeed. Quitting when challenges are arduous, and never
allowing yourself to have opportunities to find your purpose and fulfillment are detrimental in life.
Therefore, by staying committed to overcoming those presented advertise, from playing football

Pros And Cons Of Job Stress
Final exam
Stress is a body s reaction on any situations which are usually caused by both good and bad
experiences. When the body is stressed, most of the individuals experience different health issues,
such as muscle tension, headache, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, etc. These
symptoms can affect not only body, but thoughts, mind, feelings, and behavior as well.
Nowadays, the most major source of stress for American adults is the job stress. The statistic
highlights that an estimated 1 million workers are absent every day due to stress. The European
Agency for Safety and Health at Work reported that over half of the 550 million working days lost
annually in the U.S. from absenteeism are stress related and that one in five of all last minute no
shows are due to job stress (The American Institute of Stress).
Some jobs, naturally, involve more stress than others, but i believe that the most stress related jobs
are those that involve public safety working environments. Researchers have found that the police
officers are most exposed to stress due to their negative pressures related to work. These pressures
can cause threatening psychological and underlying mental health disorders including substance
abuse, marital problems, anxiety, depression or post traumatic stress disorder. Untreated depression,
the feeling of dissatisfaction with oneself may develop suicidal thoughts in the individuals.
Suicide is one of the biggest problem for law enforcement officers.

Research Paper On Franz Anton Mesmer
Franz Anton Mesmer was a German physician, married a wealthy widow, and who was
fascinated with astronomy. Being that Paris, France, in the 1780s, had no censorship of ideas, it
was an open concept city, Mesmer pondered with the opportunity to share his medical methods.
Franz Anton Mesmer knew that if he took his idea of animal magnetism to Paris, he would then
have more of a prospect for people to accept, and believe what he had to say. At the time, the
popular, or most common medical practice was bleeding. Bleeding was the doctor s way of curing
a patient s illness or disease. So, for Mesmer to introduce a rival medical method was fascinating to
people. To explain, the definition of animal magnetism is a substance that connects the entire
universe, and that has no physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How animal magnetism works is that there is a magnetic flow throughout the whole human body, if
the flow of the magnetism is blocked, the person will become ill. The majority of Franz Anton
Mesmer s patients were unmarried, rich, young females. How Mesmer constructed his methods was
to start by removing the obstruction of the animal magnetism blockage. How Mesmer s method
worked was to bring the fingertips of the patients to his own fingertips, the patient s knees to his
own. He would then start to massage the blocked magnetism, and slowly remove the clogged
animal magnetism. The breakage of animal magnetism leads to a reaction, called a crisis.
Additional people started believing in animal magnetism, making the procedure more pronounced
throughout Paris. Since the popularity of animal magnetism was increased, Mesmer could not
balance the amount of patients he was accumulating, so he hired and trained assistants, called
adepts. Soon Mesmer

4 Elements the Wars Essay
The Wars: Four Elements It was the ancient Greek philosopher, Empedocles, who first established
the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. He also stated that everything in the world is structured
by and rooted in these four elements. However during times of conflict and violence, humans begin
to disturb this harmony. When this happens, the elements stop representing life and start
representing a form of destruction. Throughout Robert Ross s journey in The Wars, Timothy
Findley exemplifies this theory by displaying the four elements in two diverse ways: benevolent
and harmful. Earth is said to be the feminine element. It is perceived to be nurturing, stable, and
full of endurance. The planet itself is a ball of life in which one is... Show more content on

This comes to no surprise. Like water, life is subject to change. Like water, life is shaped by the
places it exists in: the earth, the environment, and the ecosystems. Throughout his voyage, Robert
Ross finds himself in the presence of snow numerous times. For instance, it snows during
Rowena s funeral, All the time the minister eulogized and all the time they prayed, it snowed
(Finley 18) Robert also stands in the snow at the train station, much like Mrs. Ross let the snow
beat down on her face. Each of these events marks a point of permanent change. Everyone is able
to imagine the scene where the hero looks down and the town below him is awash in flames. Fire is
the agent of destruction; symbolism of both chaos and war. Burning everything in its path, it
brings nothing but devastation. Fire storms raged along the front. Men were exploded where
they stood blown apart by the combustion (Findley 137) Staying true to this depiction, fire takes
the lives of many during the war, including Robert himself. While trying to save the horses,
Roberts get caught in the barn and the roof went up in seconds like a tinder box. (Finley 212)
Although the flames claimed the lives of many, at times they also helped give Robert peace at
mind. During Robert s stay at Desole, he receives his kit bag which includes a picture of Rowena.
He decides to burn the picture and it is

The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
It can be hard to understand the meaning of the novella The Metamorphosis, written by Franz

My Life Has Me Thinking Essay
Currently, life has me thinking what a difference a year makes . You see, exactly a year ago I
was starting Graduate School at the Simmons College School of Social Work. In addition, I was
living with the girl I believed I was going to marry. Today, one year later I am now single and
have been dismissed from the Simmons College program without finishing my degree. However, I
did not let the circumstances allow me to give up, because I am resilient. Resiliency is an important
concept we teach our clients/community within the realm of Social Work. My year of 2016 has
reminded me how vital it is to be resilient.
My dream to become an LICSW Family Therapist/Marriage Counselor is taking a different route
than my original plan. My undergraduate career followed a long road with a lot of uncertainty.
Uncertain of: if college was for me, and if so, what I wanted to study, and if not, what exactly I
wanted to do for a career. After my freshman, year in college, I decided college was not for me.
Then the year 2000 came. My high school classmates were graduating from college and landing
careers, while I was jumping from job to job. I made the decision to return to college in 2001 and
graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2008. Before graduating, while still in college, I
moved to New York in 2006 and started my career in Social Services at Graham Windham, a non
profit foster care agency. This is when I learned about the field of social work.

It Doesn t Matter By Nicholas Carr
Nicholas G. Carr initiated a discussion about the strategic importance of IT spending of
companies in his Article IT Doesn t Matter published in Harward business review , 2003. He also
advises to reduce the spending on IT infrastructure by arguing the fact that IT become commodity
rather than a strategic advantage. Diminishing strategic advantage of the IT as explained by
Nicholas Carr is not a broad view of the topic and Author has limited the scope of IT with mostly
hardware part and not discussed the various advantages a firm can gain with use of information
technology in a whole. Author suggests that business corporations should spend less on the IT
infrastructure by arguing that IT is no more a strategic advantage and is similar to other commodity
which is assessable to each and every one at market place. Author advices organizations to spend
less on the IT capital, to wait and learn from the mistake of competitors and also evaluate the risks
associated with the implementation of IT infrastructure. Author has provided the details of it
spending and financial outcome of the industry. Here we need to understand that financial out come

The Warrior Achilles
The warrior Achilles, within the final year of the Trojan War, has shown why he is a skilled warrior
and revved individual, nearly godlike. In addition to that, at times throughout the lliad, showing his
humanity in moments that have touched him dearly. As it is portrayed throughout the lliad, when it
came down between the embassies of Priam and Agamemnons, it would be a decision which
Achillesmakes ultimately for his own reasoning and benefit. It would be Priam, who would be
able to sway the great Achilles in the return of his son s body, while Agamemnon s would
ultimate fail. It would be for the reason which Priam and Achilles shared in a moment of loss for
individuals they cared for deeply. That it is with the aid of Priam s embassy, that Achilles is able
to further reach in achieving his goal of honor and undying fame.
The relationship or lack thereof between Achilles and Agamemnon would put them at odds
constantly, both having different agendas and views in regards to the war. Early in the
beginning, we saw that honor was an important factor for Achilles, which was a part of his
ultimate end goal. In the scene between Achilles and his mother, he says, Mother, since you bore
me for a short life only, Olympian Zeus was supposed to grant me honor. Well, he hasn t given me
any at all. Agamemnon has taken away my prize and dishonored me., (lliad Bk 1 pg. 17) which in

Homosexuality in Eighteenth Century England
Though same sex relationships have been a prominent aspect of many cultures almost since the
beginning of time, there has historically been a significant taboo surrounding the phenomenon in
the Western world. From the Fourteenth Century on, Western Europe was gripped by a rabid and
obsessive negative preoccupation with homosexuality as the most horrible of sins (Boswell 262).
The majority of people did not understand or accept the idea, and consequentially did not have an
appropriate way of talking about it. Over the years, as various cultures identified and even
implemented practices currently associated with homosexuality, there arose a need for common
terminology. Until the eighteenthcentury, it was referred to through the practices... Show more

This recognition of sodomy as the characterizing practice of homosexuals indicates society s
general disregard of women as homosexuals. It was apparently beyond the capability of most people
during the eighteenth century even to consider that women could engage in any practice so
unnatural and strange. Women, themselves, used this disbelief to their advantage, as in the case
of a woman suspected of homosexual involvement, a suspected Mistress Clap, who was asked by
a judge whether she had anything to say for herself. I hope it will be considered that I am a
woman, she replied briefly, and therefore it cannot be thought that I would ever be concerned with
such practices (Hyde 64).
Besides denying any involvement by women in such practices, one of the other beliefs commonly
held in England during the eighteenth century was that young boys learned, or were inadvertently
taught to be homosexual. One widely accepted belief blamed the teaching of such deviance on
their schooling. Male bonding in schools was crucial. Its result was radical female isolation and a
complex pattern of male friendship codes instilled by years of male bonding (Rousseau 144). In
another argument against schools in the charge of encouraging homosexual tendencies, An early
eighteenth century work called Plain Reasons for the Growth of Sodomy in England blames the
custom of sending young boys to kindergartens run by women for

Sociological Analysis Of Sports Research
There are many sociologists that work on college campuses which, are focused on what are by

seem to view as professional and which are seen by governments and by supporting organizations
that are deserving of investments, more so if the primary center of consideration is safety related.
The overall perspective in reference to what is and what is not socially valuable and does not

Gender Aspects Of Sex In Sex And The City
This blurring of gender norms, which would normally be seen as taboo is actually celebrated
and fully embraced in the context of the show. This is similar to what Sex and the City does in
the creation of Samantha Jones, one of the main characters of the show. Throughout the show
Sam is seen as the wildest and most sexually liberated character. She is a highly successful,
confident businesswoman who has sex like a man . Samantha defies popular gender norms by
unapologetically speaking her mind and truly having sex with no strings attached in a world in
which women are expected to be fragile prudish and depended on men in order to feel fulfillment.
The writers of Sex and the Citydo a wonderful job of presenting the kind of feminism that we are
likely to experience today. What that means is that unlike the feminism we see in Grey s
Anatomy in which equality is achieved, the experiences of the characters in Sex and the City and
the relationship of the main characters seem to be less of a fantasy and more of a reality. The
lives of the four main characters, Charlotte, Carrie, Miranda and Samantha and their relationships
serve as a representation of the different kinds of women that live amongst us today. On one end
we have the most traditional portrayal of women in network television, Charlotte York. Charlotte is
the most conservative and prudish one of the four women. As she says in the pilot of the show if

Novelty is defined as the invention must not have previously existed in any way or have been used
by other individuals. For an inventor to prove novelty they must also prove the invention has not
been described in a publication worldwide (Macrina, 2014 p.299). Obviously, the requirement of
originality is much easier to prove than the novelty of an invention, which results in copyright
infringement being difficult to prove since the individual must have evidence of not only similarity

The War Of The Concentration Camp And Extermination Camp...
In November of 1944, John McCloy, the United States Assistant Secretary of War, responded by
letter to John Pehle, United States Executive Director of the War Refugee Board, in opposition and
briefly supported as to why the War Department of the United States was against and why it would
not go through with the bombing operation of the concentration camp and extermination camp at
Auschwitz Birkenau. In the brief McCloy laid out five specific reasons as to why the department
would not be carried out the military plan at that point in time during the war. The five reasons that
made up McCloy s argument were: first, Positive destruction of these camps would necessitate
precision bombing, employing heavy or medium bombardment, or attack by low flying or dive
bombing aircraft, preferably the latter. Second, the target is beyond the maximum range of medium
bombardment, dive bombers and fighter bombers located in United Kingdom, France or Italy.
Third, use of heavy bombardment from United Kingdom bases would necessitate a hazardous
round trip flight unescorted of approximately 2,000 miles over enemy territory. Fourth, At the
present critical stage of the war in Europe, our strategic air forces are engaged in the destruction of
industrial target systems vital to the dwindling war potential of the enemy, from which they should
not be diverted. The positive solution to this problem is the earliest possible victory over Germany,
to which end we should exert our entire means. Fifth,

Explication of Mary Oliver’s “The Black Snake”
In Mary Oliver s poem The Black Snake, the narrator contemplates the cycle of life with the
unpredictability of death. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual
affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans
how to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator
witnesses a black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. Feeling sympathy for the
snake, the narrator stops, and removes the dead snake from the road. Noting the snake s beauty, the
narrator carries it from the road to some nearby bushes. Continuing to drive, the narrator reflects on
how the abruptness of death ultimately revealed how the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truck was the cause of the snake s demise. That is how death happens. The snake symbolizes
death as dark and evil. The second begins with Now, he lies looped and useless (5). Beginning
with when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The
snake quickly flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road.
The poet has given the snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle
tire (6). The poet uses this technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old
rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an
observer, and telling the story from a third person point of view. The narrator feels some sort of
remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from the road, and carries him into the bushes
(8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken to, and hidden or out of sight of the
road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as a braided whip (9 10).
Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven pattern of the snake s
scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. The snake is not a useless piece of
rubber, but a beautiful and vibrant part of nature. He is as beautiful and quiet as a bead brother (10

What Are The Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And...
In societies around the world people follow a certain religion. They believe either in a single deity
or many deities. In Ancient Greek and Egypt they believed in many deities. Many included females.
Ancient Egyptian and Greek societies had similar female goddesses despite distance. But although
they had similarities they also have differences between them.
Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of female sexuality and love. Also music, dance and inebriation. She
brought fertility and protected women in childbirth. She is a funerary goddess but unlike Isis
specialized in the rebirth in afterlife. With other goddess like Tefnut, Nut and Sakhmet they are
angry goddesses . They have a dual nature as being bring both fertility and new life. But also seen
as dangerous and bringing destruction. Hathor is the daughter of Ra and considered the eye of Ra .
Ra wanted to destroy mankind but he grew old. As he grew older he asked her to help him and
became Sekhmet and took on a job of vengeance. She became the warrior goddess of destruction
and war. She is the goddess of war, fire, heat and vengeance. Along with enchantments,
mummifications, hunting, wild animals and courage. Sekhmet became known as the lioness
goddess or the scarlet lady for her known lust for blood. She feels delight in killing people and
drinking their blood. Ra became worried that Sekhmet would slaughter all mankind. So he tricked
her by mixing red dye and ale and pouring it across the land. Claiming it was blood she

Essay On Counterculture In The 1960s
One of the most exciting things about studying more recent history is almost intrinsically
connected to the advent of the photographic camera, which offers spontaneous imagery of events
in the moment that the artwork of the past could only attempt to recreate. The transition from
black and white with a burst of color following the Second World War offered to the public eye a
realistic representation of events that they had not had the opportunity to experience before. Color
photographs boomed in the decades following the war, which provides historians today with a
wide breadth of visual sources with which to corroborate other materials. This is especially true
when examining the documentation of the counterculture in the 1960s. A book called Hippie
compiled by Barry Miles offers a composite portrait of hippies in America in the 1960s,
contextualized with other images from other key events outside of the realm of the... Show more

Although SDS had a number of issues they were passionate about in the mid to late 1960s, their
most crucial point of discussion revolved around the Vietnam War. It could be argued that the
advent of the war was one of the factors that contributed to the increasing militancy of the group, the
group eventually dissolving into multiple factions including the Weathermen. Similarly, the hippie
counterculture eventually developed a strong anti war sentiment regarding the American
intervention in Vietnam. However, the doctrine of love and pacifism resulted in the hippies never
developing militant behaviors in the way that the members of SDS did. This emphasis on non
violence, as the 60s and 70s went on, became an increasingly valuable point in which the hippies
diverged from other groups that shared similar foundational philosophies given that the growing
unrest in America resulted in, for many groups including SDS, more violent

Linguistic Stereotypes Essay
Linguistic Stereotypes
Language is a method in which individuals communicate in order to get their opinion across to the
listening party. Language is the tool which ideas can be conveyed in various ways. Typically,
language is referred to verbal communication, however, it ranges to all methods of communication
i.e. sign language.
Linguistic stereotypes are an existent form of discrimination. Since, languages are criticized and
mocked due to the connection between language and cultural character. Thus, language is
significantly related to the identity of the speakers. In addition, languages are vulnerable to criticism
due to differences in cultural behavior.

Verbal languages vary in pronunciations. Since, Languages are described as being smooth and
light, while on the other hand, languages known to being rough and abrupt. The manner in which
speakers pronounce and communicate using words, phrases and hand gesture also has a way in
building the personality of the language. Furthermore, whilst a speaker pronounces words and
letters that are in the non speaker opinion rigid and tough, an image of a solid language is created
in the observing non speaker mind. Personally, listening to Hindi dialects, I myself seem to find it
challenging to pronounce specific words, and an image of complexity forms in my mind. During
dialect comparison, we realize that pronunciation is vulnerable to criticism and satire. Comedians
during criticizing a specific group usually imitate the dialect to refer to their identity. Thus when
they criticize the language they mean it to the group and their specialized behavior.
Linguistic discrimination is an important issue; many have been discriminated and excluded from
the public sphere due to their disability to practice the standardized language. In the Arab world,
when second language speakers try to talk Arabic, they seem to have difficulties with the
pronunciations. Consequently, this leads to limitations during the blending in procedures. The

History Of The Hollywood Studio System
The Hollywood studio system ran from 1927 to 1948. It applied the ideas and principles of a
manufacturing assembly line to the making of movies. During this time each studio created a
uniformed look to their productions, which allowed them to focus on quantity over
experimentation (Barsam, 469). By having every employee, especially actors, writers, and
directors under contract the studio was able to dictate not only the look but the stars and director.
This system was created in part as a way to control the cost of making movies. When an actor
signed with a studio they became like property. Their hair, teeth, and even names could be changed
to fit the studios idea or concept (Lewis, 103). This system created efficiency, workers were able

Pros And Cons Of The Holy Bible
The Holy Bible: Should the Good Book be Banned?
The Bible; the only book that has managed to exist, at least in part, for three millennia, and cause
controversy every single step of the way. At one point number six on the American Library
Association s most challenged books list in America (Top Ten Most Challenged Books List,
Ala.org), it has changed hearts and minds and left a trail of chaos in its wake. However, I do
believe I should have been allowed to read this Book of books, because of its great literary value, it
s incredible insights on God, humanity, and society, and its powerful instruction. While many have
came up against it, none have defeated it; thus, it is one of the most influential pieces of literature
that has ever come into existence. The Bible is one of the most powerfully moving pieces of
literature ever in existence. It has great literary value, because it has changed and influenced our
culture immensely. It has changed our society by changing and influencing our government, our
society, and even our very language. Our government was created by mainly Christian men; they
followed the words contained in the Bible. Benjamin Franklin said, ...the longer I live, the more
convincing proofs I see of this truth that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot
fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?

Our contribution is three fold. First, we propose a two stream ConvNet architec ture which

data. Finally, we show that multi task learning, applied to two different action classification... Show

The spatial stream performs action recognition from still video frames, whilst the temporal stream
is trained to recognise action from motion in the form of dense optical flow. Both streams are
implemented as ConvNets. Decoupling the spatial and temporal nets also allows us to exploit the
availability of large amounts of annotated image data by pre training the spatial net on the
ImageNet challenge dataset [1]. Our proposed architecture is related to the two streams hypothesis
[9], according to which the human visual cortex contains two pathways: the ventral stream (which
performs object recognition) and the dorsal stream (which recognises motion); though we do not
investigate this connection any further here.
The rest of the paper is organised as follows. In Sect. 1.1 we review the related work on action
recognition using both shallow and deep architectures. In Sect. 2 we introduce the two stream
architecture and specify the Spatial ConvNet. Sect. 3 introduces the Temporal ConvNet and in
particular how it generalizes the previous architectures reviewed in Sect. 1.1. A mult task

Causes Of Air Pollution Essay
A big major problem in today s world is air pollution, and it is a major cause of climate change.
Air pollution affects many thing in the world. It affects our crops, our animals, and also us people
who can suffer terribly from air pollution. People who have medical problems like lung cancer,
and asthma can die because our lungs aren t meant to take in all those toxins in our bodies, and our
bodies react in a negative way when those toxins are put into the body. Our plants and animal have
nothing to with causing air pollutionand they have to suffer because of humans who are polluting
the air with carbon, and greenhouse gases. They plants could be affected which the animals eat.
Then the animals eat the plants get affected and then we eat the animals which can get everyone
sick and eventually die. If we want to live longer and stay healthy we have to get rid of air pollution
. ASAP.
Recent studies show that in 1982, approximately 1.2 million adults got lung cancer or died
according to Arden Pope III. The reason these people got sick and/or died is because of air
pollution. People that smoke cigarettes are more likely to get lung cancer, than people who don t
smoke and the smokers are causing pollution also. Their not only affecting themselves with
pollution, but their affecting other people s lives with the smoke that their releasing into the

Economics Essay Telephone Masts
Using the information in the data and your own economic knowledge, evaluate the economic case
for and against governments attempting to influence how mobile phones are manufactured and

The government should intervene in the mobile phone market to correct market failure due to the
presence of negative externalities.
Negative externalities are detrimental third party effects caused by the production and/or
consumption of a good. A public good is a good provided free of charge to the consumer, by the
government. A public good is non excludable and non rivalrous. A merit good is a good that gives
positive externalities upon production and/or consumption. A merit good is non excludable, yet

Therefore, the government should intervene to correct imperfect knowledge and decrease demand
for mobile phones.
Imperfect knowledge occurs when either the consumer or the producer know more than the other
about the externalities that occur due to the production or consumption of a good. A government
can use persuasion techniques to correct imperfect knowledge on the part of the consumer. Ways in
which the government can do this include educational advertising and changes to the national
curriculum to impart views the government deems will correct imperfect knowledge.
It is argued that the production of mobile phones exerts negative externalities on the Asian
employees of the mobile phone (Extract E, Line 16). An example of a negative externality on the
Asian workers is that of low wages paid by Western firms to employees in poorer, foreign
countries. If the government s policy of persuasion was successful, demand for mobile phones
produced by firms that incur low costs by paying lower wages should decrease (See Figure 2). This
would decrease the quantity consumed of low cost mobile phones, and reduce the negative
externality of an inequality in the distribution of wealth and incomes, present in the production of
low cost mobile phones.
If persuasion was successful, it would also provide incentive to firms that produce mobile phones
to increase wages and lower negative externalities, as demand would be higher in the market for
mobile phones produced with

The Golden Age And The Golden Age
I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of
my life to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic
necessities that I needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in
Andover, Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade
and it ended up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not
have to worry about what is needed in the basic humanlife, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and
justice. In this young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a
key part in everyday life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I
was knowledgeable on how it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of
physical violence throughout the grade. This thoughtof having peace, food, little work, and having
a roof over your head in the first grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the
golden age.
In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however,
reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be
insignificant while being in the first grade. When I went to the first grade the safety protocols
were not as commonly practiced as they are current day. I had felt a sense of safety even though I

hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1.INTRODUCTION
Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the
rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well
known technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It
provides the functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many
applications have been developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues
regarding using bisimulation technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To
better resolve this problem, a new technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and
developed. In this article, we will carry out a literature review to discover the difference between
forced simulation technique and bisimulation technique.
In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more
detailed. Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an
example of these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between
them.

Sleep Apnea Definition
According to the National heart, lung, and blood institute website, Sleep apnea is a common
disorder in which a person has one or more pauses in breathing or weak breaths while they sleep
(NIH National heart, lung and blood Institute, 2012, definition). The pauses and breathing can last
from a few seconds to minutes, and breathing pauses may happen 30 times or more an hour. After
the pauses, normal breathing can start but with a loud snort or choking sound (NIH National heart,
lung and blood Institute, 2012, definition). Sleep Apneacan be categorized in three types:
obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea and complex sleep apnea syndrome.
The cause of sleep apnea is due to a blockage of the throat muscles that keep airway flow open.
Some of the reasons for the blockage can be the relaxing of throat muscles and tongue unusually,
the size of your tongue and tonsils are not appropriate for the opening of your windpipe, and
people with weight issues. Other reasons can be the size of your head and neck which may lead
to a narrow airway passage in the mouth and throat. In addition, as people get older, the brain
signals ability gets worse and causes throat muscles to stiffen. Consequently, airways have an
increased chance of narrowing or collapsing (NIH National heart, lung and blood Institute, 2012,

the victim of my circumstances. As mentioned earlier, coming to terms with my racial identity
definitely impacted my academics. While I was enraged by Truman s aura, I realized I could not
let that take away from my mental energy anymore. With the arrival of my senior year, I
channeled all that frustration in graduate applications and studies because unless I did well in

Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Essay
Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Meyer (2010) states that since the birth of the EITC in
1975 it has grown dramatically in size and is now the largest antipoverty program for the non aged
in the United States. Meyer (2010) continues that in 2007, 25 million families received EITC
payments totaling $49.7 billion. Meyer (2010) avers that as a result, the EITC lifted at least 4.0
million individuals above the poverty line. Meyer (2010) further continues to explain that in
addition to directly raising incomes, the EITC has sharply changed work incentives, currently
increasing the after‐taxwage by up to 45% for those with low earnings.
The EITC overall is part of the tax system and does not necessitate individuals to have a tax
liability that the credit offsets. Meyer (2010) maintains that a person without a net tax liability
receives it as a payment that, by 2009, could be as large as $5,657. The objective of the EITC has
been to move earnings while stimulating employment. This characteristic paved the way for
political support for its early acceptance and for its following development. The agenda has
undertaken more distinction in recent years as policy makers have sought to decrease the reliance
that they assert has been promoted by welfare programs.
It s well known that elevated and unrelenting poverty is excessively found in rural areas, with
isolated rural areas experiencing the utmost poverty. Mammen and Lawrence (2006) state that time

The Rise of the Early Churh
The Rise of the Early Church Assessment There are three mysteries in this world that remained
unsolved. One, what happened in the rise of the early church, two what came first the chicken or
the egg, and, three where did the peanut butter and jelly sandwich come from. But no need to
worry, for two of these mysteries will be solved. If the chicken and the egg battle is ever resolved, it
will be well known. As for the other two, they will be answered soon.
There was once a very lonely sandwich named PB. He was a strong believer in the church. There
was another lonely sandwich named Jelly, she was a strong believer as well. They had never met,
but they both knew that something was missing. They lived in different lands, very far apart. But
one night an angel called to them, telling them to head in each other s direction. So the next day
they did. They traveled for days and days. Then, they finally found each other. Their perfect match.
Once they met, they decided to go home, to the church. So for days they walked, all the way to
their new home.
They went to the church so they could get married. But they had to do a multitude of tasks. These
tasks had to demonstrate how the church is growing socially. There were four tasks they had to
complete. One they had to demonstrated which socio economic groups it grew, they had to show
the connection to the Jews, they had to demonstrated all the effects of epidemics, and they had to
prove the role of women in the church. After these

Anselm, The Archbishop Of Canterbury
Anselm, the Archbishop of Canterbury, was the first person to present an ontological argument for
the existence of God. He actually proposes two different ontological arguments at different points in
the Prosologium.
His first Ontological Argument for God s Existence starts by defining God based on Christian belief
as a being than which nothing greater can be conceived. It is on the foundation of this definition
that he builds his argument.
Anselm s first point is that anyone who hears about God, this being than which nothing greater can
be conceived, will be able to understand what he is hearing and grasp that definition of God. He
then goes on to say that once a person has been told and has understood that definition, then they

The first critic is a monk named Gaunilo of Marmoutier, who lived at the same time as Anselm. His
critique of Anselm s first Ontological Argument for God s Existenceis that using the same
argument one could prove the existence of things that do not actually exist.
Gaunilo supports his objection by presenting Anselm s argument except with an island in the place
of God as the thing than which none greater can be conceived. The argument seems to prove
conclusively that there is an island than which none greater can be conceived, but since there is not
objectively a maximally great island, the argument form is seemingly discredited.
Himma argues, however, that Gaunilo s objection points out a limit to Anselm s argument but does
not actually disprove it. The properties of an island that make it great are not ones that have a
conceptual maximum. Himma points out that it is this lack of properties with conceptual
maximums that makes the island argument fail, not the argument form itself. On the other hand,
the properties of Anselm s Christian God that make that God great do have a conceptual maximum,
properties such as perfect knowledge and perfect power. One cannot conceptually have greater
knowledge than knowing all and only true propositions, or greater power than being able to do
everything that is possible to do.
Therefore, Himma points out, the example of the greatest island simply shows that Anselm s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of State Civil Services
State Civil Services (SCS) also known as Provincial Civil Services (PCS) corresponds to
Administrative Services in state government. Every State Public Service Commission carries out a
competitive examination usually every year for recruitment to the Provincial Civil Services.
Note: In some States the examination is not conducted every year. In such States the candidates
may have to remain prepared for longer durations and to grab the opportunity when it comes their
way.
Candidates selected through PCS Examinations are meant to choose from following categories
State Civil Services, Class I (SCS)
State Police Service, Class I (SPS)

The number of vacancies being limited, the examination offers a tough competition to the aspirants
and only the candidates with thorough preparations may expect to be successful.
Scheme of Examination
The pattern of this examination is similar to the civil services examination conducted by the UPSC.
Most of the bigger States follow the practice of holding a preliminary examination to short list the
candidates. Preliminary examination is almost on the lines of preliminary examination for the civil
services examination conducted by the UPSC, with the exception that a few questions may be
asked about the custom, traditions, planning and problems of the State concerned.
The smaller States with relatively lesser number of vacancies and lesser candidates may skip the
preliminary examination. The Centre s for examination are determined by the concerned public
service commission considering the geographical area of the State and the number of candidates
taking the examination. Preliminary examination is followed by the main examination (Smaller

Enzymes Essay
Enzymes
Enzymes are biological catalysts that carry out thousands of chemical reactions that occur in living
cells. They are a class of proteins that have a unique three dimensional structure that allows it to
bind with a specific substrate to facilitate a
reaction. Many biological reactions will not occur spontaneously in the cell; there is simply not
enough energy for the reaction to take place. Enzymes make these
reactions possible by lowering the reactionГ‚ s activation energy. Each cell has tens of thousands
of different enzymes that collectively allow both the break down and synthesis of molecules to
drive all cellular processes.
This investigation will explore the effect of pH ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These biological catalysts are important because they speed up the rate of the reaction they
catalyze that would otherwise be too slow to support life. Catalase is an enzyme present in the
cells of plants, animals and aerobic (oxygen requiring) bacteria. It promotes the conversion of
hydrogen peroxide, a powerful and potentially harmful oxidizing agent, to water and molecular
oxygen.
2H2O2 to 2H2O + O2
Catalase also uses hydrogen peroxide to oxidize toxins including phenols, formic acid,
formaldehyde and alcohols.
H2O2 + RH2 to 2H2O + R
Where is it found and what does it do?
Catalase is located in a cell organelle called the peroxisome. Peroxisomes in animal cells are
involved in the oxidation of fatty acids, and the synthesis of cholesterol and bile acids. Hydrogen
peroxide is a byproduct of fatty acid oxidation. White blood cells produce hydrogen peroxide to
kill bacteria. In both cases catalase prevents the hydrogen peroxide from harming the cell itself.
Peroxisomes in plant cells are involved in photorespiration (the use of oxygen and production of
carbon dioxide) and symbiotic nitrogen fixation (the breaking apart of the nitrogen molecule N2 to
reactive nitrogen atoms). Hydrogen peroxide is produced as an intermediate during these chemical

The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint
I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island,
Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to
be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the
catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St.
Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father
took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena.
When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged
drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill
St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and
healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive
and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all
the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman
ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron
of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named

The goal of the exercise is to provide a simulation for the process of the facilitated diffusion of
glucose through a selectively permeable membrane.

Discussion:
The purpose of the first experiment was to test how different solutes moved through the membrane
by the process of Simple Diffusion. Different solutes proved to diffuse not only at a certain amount,
but also through a certain molecular weight. Curious as to why my hypothesis was not supported, I
wondered why certain solutes only diffused through certain membranes. Through research, I
concluded that the reasoning behind my observation is due to the fact that Non polar molecules can
dissolve in the non polar fatty acid chains of the membrane phospholipids, so therefore non polar
molecules have larger permeability constants than polar molecules (www.biology online.org). Also,
lipid soluble molecules can move through the membrane, where as non lipid soluble molecules
cannot pass through the lipid bilayer (www.biology online.org). These results also concluded that at
a higher MWCO, solutes take a much greater time to diffuse than molecular weights of smaller
amounts.
The process of facilitated diffusion,

Western Literature Makes its Way to the Big Screen in the...
While Western Literature conforms to the ever expanding needs of society by breaking away
from the book to make its way to the big screen, it still relies on some of the most classic of
stories, ironically, stories usually hailing from the East. The Matrix serves as a standing example
of this relationship, in that it effectively paves way in the Western world while relying on the
Eastern classic known as the Bible, especially in the area of theme . Like the story of Christ, The
Matrixtells the story of a man, not meant for the world he is in, but to instead, save the world he
is in. While The Matrix is an original story, much inspiration was clearly drawn upon from the
Bible as more than obvious Biblical parallels are scattered throughout the film and serve a greater
purpose than that which the naked mind might understand, all while simultaneously utilizing a
range of technical effects to further its purpose. The Matrix was released in 1999 by the studio
Village Roadshow Pictures under the helm of director/producer duo the Wachowski Brothers. The
movie opened to critical acclaim grossing $465 million worldwide, far surpassing the film s
budget. The film features Keanu Reeves as Neo, the story s protagonist, Laurence Fishburne as
Morpheus, Neo s guidance, and Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith, the story s antagonist, with
supporting cast members such as Carrie Anne Moss (Trinity), Gloria Foster (Oracle), and Joe
Pantoliano (Cipher). The film is set in a present day city (which

The Importance Of Stereotyping In Society
A stereotype is a way to determine where a person or thing falls in the realm of life. Stereotyping
is a natural part of life and it actually does have a meaning in reality. It allows a person s mind to
work properly and for the human brain to be able to recognize, process, store and then recall the
information when needed. Stereotyping is a big problem in society. It labels a person about
how they should live or act according to their sex, race, and personality. In all work forces it is a
law to not discriminate against employees or other people in the facility. It can also be used in
racial, political, religious, and many more ways. Stereotyping in a racial way is judging people
by the color of their skin, where they come from, or the language they speak. Stereotyping can be
a big issue in many professional businesses and environments. It can affect people s lives and the
way of doing things. Stereotypes also are creating a false idea of how people interact with other
individuals. Many of the stereotypes children receive are through media. People should be careful
when stereotyping or just keep their thoughts to themselves. Stereotyping will never go away
because it helps humansto process information about things and people.

Mental Illness And Its Effects On The Quality Of Life
As medicine has advanced, so too has the quality of life. Although correlation does not imply
causation and other factors are also responsible for the increase in the quality of life, there is no
doubt that we have become better than ever at diagnosing and treating many ailments. Ethically,
though, there may be problems with the process of diagnosing many diseases, particularly those
that have psychological roots. The predicament arises because there are otherwise no notable
physical signs (e.g. fever, rash, aches and pains) for many mental illnesses, as is the case for many
pathological diseases. A specific illness fitting the criteria of no physical signs is depression. The
statistics behind the disease are horrifying. As a mental health... Show more content on

This paper attempts to argue that the latter statement is reasonable, and the ethics involved with
over diagnosis lead to negative consequences.
In my opinion, due to the loose definition of the disease, financial involvement of pharmaceutical
companies and the relationship between access to drugs due to the ailment and drug addiction, the
increase in diagnosis impacts the credibility of those who suffer from the debilitating disease and
decreases the vote of confidence amongst those responsible for diagnosis.
Traditional wisdom suggests that it s always better safe than sorry when it comes to treating
diseases. This technique is often practiced so long as the different treatment options do no interfere
with each other. For example, when the body is under attack of a bacterial infection, a regimen of
antibiotics treat for any number of bacteria that may be attacking the body. Or in the case of
cancers, it is always better to take part in a screening, even if the outcome is malignant. There is an
obvious advantageous outcome from this procedure that leads to either peace of mind or proactive
measures. When dealing with the complex and conscious organ of the brain, though, treatments are
often harmful to the patient. Antidepressants are the most common form of treatment for
depression. The method of action of these medicines involves

Looking Backward By Edward Bellamy, And Fahrenheit 451
Have you ever wondered what a perfect world would be like? To you it could mean no more war,
no more poverty, every person of every race and gender being treated exactly the same. However, to
someone else their idea of a perfect world could be the complete opposite of what you would want.
In Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy, and Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradburythe idea of a perfect
world is not just an idea anymore, it becomes reality. Nevertheless, both books perfect world are
completely different from one another. The theme of both books is to try and find that perfect
world, and maintain it. While there are many may differences between the two, the underlying
truth still remains the same. In Bellamy s novel, we start out in the late nineteenth century. Julian
West, the main character, was born into an aristocratic family. Just as the rest of his class did,
Julian thought of himself to be a higher rated citizen to the rest of the population. Julian had
everything, even his fiancГ© Edith was an aristocrat, and together they felt as if they could take
on the world. The gap between the rich and the poor sometimes affected the rich just as much as
it did the poor. The two were to get married as soon as their house was finished, but strikes from
the poor construction workers were prolonging that process. Julian had been suffering from
insomnia all of his life, so he hired a hypnotist to help him get his sleep. He even went to the extent
to build a secret underground chamber

  • 2. Wasted Green on Going Green Essay The amount of energy it takes to produce a car can actually offset the amount of emissions emitted throughout a car s lifetime. When thinking about energy efficiency, the ultimate green car , the Prius, is actually one of the sources of the worse pollution in North America! (Demorro). The Toyota Prius, known as the most iconic green car, earns itself the most miles per gallon with the efficiency of using two engines, one of them being an electric. Controversially, the electric engine heavily relies on the use of rare earth elements which production comes almost exclusively from China. Alongside with China s hazardous mining techniques and careless refining practices, the top two rare earth elements used for hybrids are seen also as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pooling together all of the accumulated energy it takes to drive and build a Toyota Prius, the head honcho of the green movement, the Hummer H1 takes fifty percent less energy to manufacture and maintain (Demorro). Adding onto the Hummer H1 s durability, the added production costs, and maintenance, the Toyota Prius is nonexistent in the green efficiency standards. The fragility of the Toyota Prius, in comparison, reveals that the technology for hybrid cars are still in the infant stages, requiring attention to detail on the efficient electric engine. Hybrid cars, such as the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight, offer two engines instead of one, a fuel efficient gas engine and an electric engine that produces no emissions. Hybrids are the most gasoline efficient of all cars they typically get 48 to 60 miles per gallon (claimed). Not bad, but only about twenty to thirty five percent better than a fuel efficient gasoline powered vehicle like the Honda Civic, for example, that gets 36 miles per gallon (Dunn). In comparison to regular gasoline fueled vehicles, hybrid cars only boast a measly twenty five percent increase in fuel economy with the standard Honda Civics cutting the closest with an average thirty six miles per gallon. Although manufacture s miles per gallon boasts great numbers, the actual claimed mileage by drivers is reduced roughly ten ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Heroine Complex Essay I just realized I ve never rated Heroine Complex upon reading it last year. I m completely blown away by this book. In our age where superhero is the new pop culture, it s quite difficult to find a series featuring women of color as the center of heroic resistance. There s a few representations for POC in comics and other medium content but that s only a scrap if we re going to compare it on how white peopledominate every single genre. This is why Heroine Complex is equally refreshing. It frames a different kind of norm in superherouniverse while simultaneously providing an entertaining, swoony story. The book follows Evie Tanaka, the best friend and assistant of San Francisco s most reveled superheroine Aveda Jupiter. Their usual dynamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dynamics between characters are one of my favorite kinks while reading, it s not a surprise I will focus on that element! Props to Kuhn because this book focuses on a heroine who s usually the sidekick. Evie doesn t have a flair for dramatics, she s level headed, passionate, and reliable. She s been the assistant of Aveda since her best friend donned her costume. Unfortunately, their friendship isn t all sunshine and rainbows. Her boss is demanding, manipulative, and so self consumed. There s power imbalance between them, and Aveda just knows what the right words to say to Evie to make her do something. She sounds so awful, that s because she is. The narrative didn t excuse how she s been unappreciative. Instead, there s emphasis on repairing the friendship between them and there s self love and healing. My frigid heart couldn t help but to be swayed with Aveda s arc. Everyone seems to love her, but nobody really knows the true her. She s hardworking, she has visions for herself. She s not naturally born with talents (whatever that means,) she has to work hard for it. The tragedy someone can do it better than her. On the outside, she seems to have everything, she s untouchable; but truly she s just another girl who s are still stuck by her insecurities and inadequacies. I can t wait to see her progress in Heroine Worship. This review is a mess, full review to come. You can expect hate to love otp and beautiful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cretaceous Time Period Research Paper Cretaceous Period Everyone knows about the dinosaurs and how they went extinct. This was one of the major events that took place in the Cretaceous Time Period. The Cretaceous Period was the longest and last of three time periods in the Mesozoic Era. This time period lasted from about 144 million years ago until about million years ago (about 79 million years), and over that 79 million years the earth changed dramatically. Way back in the Cretaceousall of earth s land was together in one big super continent we call Pangea. The average temperature was warmer throughout earth then in comparison to present day. The north and south poles were still colder than places along the equator even back then. But still, the earth was warmer than it is now with excessive rains in some places and little to no rain in deserts. Maybe the most notable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately 65.5 million years ago most of the planet s land animals and many of the animals in the seas went extinct. As far as we know this was caused by a massive asteroid colliding with earth in what is now the Chicxulub crater in the Yucatan peninsula. The collision is thought to have caused tsunamis and clouds of hot dust were sent into the atmosphere and probably started huge wild fires. Many of the animals that survived all of that would later die when the sun was blocked out for months or possibly years causing temperatures to drop and plants to die. I would not like to have lived in the Cretaceous Period. For one thing pretty much all of the planet s land area was in a much hotter climate than we live in which I don t think I would like. Another reason is the fact that the land and plants were different in a way that may have been interesting to see but not so great to live in. And of course the obvious reason that there were still dinosaurs which would probably be pretty dangerous and make life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Pros And Cons Of Job Stress Final exam Stress is a body s reaction on any situations which are usually caused by both good and bad experiences. When the body is stressed, most of the individuals experience different health issues, such as muscle tension, headache, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, etc. These symptoms can affect not only body, but thoughts, mind, feelings, and behavior as well. Nowadays, the most major source of stress for American adults is the job stress. The statistic highlights that an estimated 1 million workers are absent every day due to stress. The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work reported that over half of the 550 million working days lost annually in the U.S. from absenteeism are stress related and that one in five of all last minute no shows are due to job stress (The American Institute of Stress). Some jobs, naturally, involve more stress than others, but i believe that the most stress related jobs are those that involve public safety working environments. Researchers have found that the police officers are most exposed to stress due to their negative pressures related to work. These pressures can cause threatening psychological and underlying mental health disorders including substance abuse, marital problems, anxiety, depression or post traumatic stress disorder. Untreated depression, the feeling of dissatisfaction with oneself may develop suicidal thoughts in the individuals. Suicide is one of the biggest problem for law enforcement officers. ... • 7. Research Paper On Franz Anton Mesmer Franz Anton Mesmer was a German physician, married a wealthy widow, and who was fascinated with astronomy. Being that Paris, France, in the 1780s, had no censorship of ideas, it was an open concept city, Mesmer pondered with the opportunity to share his medical methods. Franz Anton Mesmer knew that if he took his idea of animal magnetism to Paris, he would then have more of a prospect for people to accept, and believe what he had to say. At the time, the popular, or most common medical practice was bleeding. Bleeding was the doctor s way of curing a patient s illness or disease. So, for Mesmer to introduce a rival medical method was fascinating to people. To explain, the definition of animal magnetism is a substance that connects the entire universe, and that has no physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How animal magnetism works is that there is a magnetic flow throughout the whole human body, if the flow of the magnetism is blocked, the person will become ill. The majority of Franz Anton Mesmer s patients were unmarried, rich, young females. How Mesmer constructed his methods was to start by removing the obstruction of the animal magnetism blockage. How Mesmer s method worked was to bring the fingertips of the patients to his own fingertips, the patient s knees to his own. He would then start to massage the blocked magnetism, and slowly remove the clogged animal magnetism. The breakage of animal magnetism leads to a reaction, called a crisis. Additional people started believing in animal magnetism, making the procedure more pronounced throughout Paris. Since the popularity of animal magnetism was increased, Mesmer could not balance the amount of patients he was accumulating, so he hired and trained assistants, called adepts. Soon Mesmer ... • 8. 4 Elements the Wars Essay The Wars: Four Elements It was the ancient Greek philosopher, Empedocles, who first established the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. He also stated that everything in the world is structured by and rooted in these four elements. However during times of conflict and violence, humans begin to disturb this harmony. When this happens, the elements stop representing life and start representing a form of destruction. Throughout Robert Ross s journey in The Wars, Timothy Findley exemplifies this theory by displaying the four elements in two diverse ways: benevolent and harmful. Earth is said to be the feminine element. It is perceived to be nurturing, stable, and full of endurance. The planet itself is a ball of life in which one is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This comes to no surprise. Like water, life is subject to change. Like water, life is shaped by the places it exists in: the earth, the environment, and the ecosystems. Throughout his voyage, Robert Ross finds himself in the presence of snow numerous times. For instance, it snows during Rowena s funeral, All the time the minister eulogized and all the time they prayed, it snowed (Finley 18) Robert also stands in the snow at the train station, much like Mrs. Ross let the snow beat down on her face. Each of these events marks a point of permanent change. Everyone is able to imagine the scene where the hero looks down and the town below him is awash in flames. Fire is the agent of destruction; symbolism of both chaos and war. Burning everything in its path, it brings nothing but devastation. Fire storms raged along the front. Men were exploded where they stood blown apart by the combustion (Findley 137) Staying true to this depiction, fire takes the lives of many during the war, including Robert himself. While trying to save the horses, Roberts get caught in the barn and the roof went up in seconds like a tinder box. (Finley 212) Although the flames claimed the lives of many, at times they also helped give Robert peace at mind. During Robert s stay at Desole, he receives his kit bag which includes a picture of Rowena. He decides to burn the picture and it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. My Life Has Me Thinking Essay Currently, life has me thinking what a difference a year makes . You see, exactly a year ago I was starting Graduate School at the Simmons College School of Social Work. In addition, I was living with the girl I believed I was going to marry. Today, one year later I am now single and have been dismissed from the Simmons College program without finishing my degree. However, I did not let the circumstances allow me to give up, because I am resilient. Resiliency is an important concept we teach our clients/community within the realm of Social Work. My year of 2016 has reminded me how vital it is to be resilient. My dream to become an LICSW Family Therapist/Marriage Counselor is taking a different route than my original plan. My undergraduate career followed a long road with a lot of uncertainty. Uncertain of: if college was for me, and if so, what I wanted to study, and if not, what exactly I wanted to do for a career. After my freshman, year in college, I decided college was not for me. Then the year 2000 came. My high school classmates were graduating from college and landing careers, while I was jumping from job to job. I made the decision to return to college in 2001 and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2008. Before graduating, while still in college, I moved to New York in 2006 and started my career in Social Services at Graham Windham, a non profit foster care agency. Carr initiated a discussion about the strategic importance of IT spending of companies in his Article IT Doesn t Matter published in Harward business review , 2003. He also advises to reduce the spending on IT infrastructure by arguing the fact that IT become commodity rather than a strategic advantage. Diminishing strategic advantage of the IT as explained by Nicholas Carr is not a broad view of the topic and Author has limited the scope of IT with mostly hardware part and not discussed the various advantages a firm can gain with use of information technology in a whole. Author suggests that business corporations should spend less on the IT infrastructure by arguing that IT is no more a strategic advantage and is similar to other commodity which is assessable to each and every one at market place. Author advices organizations to spend less on the IT capital, to wait and learn from the mistake of competitors and also evaluate the risks associated with the implementation of IT infrastructure. Author has provided the details of it spending and financial outcome of the industry. In addition to that, at times throughout the lliad, showing his humanity in moments that have touched him dearly. As it is portrayed throughout the lliad, when it came down between the embassies of Priam and Agamemnons, it would be a decision which Achillesmakes ultimately for his own reasoning and benefit. It would be Priam, who would be able to sway the great Achilles in the return of his son s body, while Agamemnon s would ultimate fail. It would be for the reason which Priam and Achilles shared in a moment of loss for individuals they cared for deeply. That it is with the aid of Priam s embassy, that Achilles is able to further reach in achieving his goal of honor and undying fame. The relationship or lack thereof between Achilles and Agamemnon would put them at odds constantly, both having different agendas and views in regards to the war. Early in the beginning, we saw that honor was an important factor for Achilles, which was a part of his ultimate end goal. In the scene between Achilles and his mother, he says, Mother, since you bore me for a short life only, Olympian Zeus was supposed to grant me honor. Well, he hasn t given me any at all. Homosexuality in Eighteenth Century England Though same sex relationships have been a prominent aspect of many cultures almost since the beginning of time, there has historically been a significant taboo surrounding the phenomenon in the Western world. From the Fourteenth Century on, Western Europe was gripped by a rabid and obsessive negative preoccupation with homosexuality as the most horrible of sins (Boswell 262). The majority of people did not understand or accept the idea, and consequentially did not have an appropriate way of talking about it. Over the years, as various cultures identified and even implemented practices currently associated with homosexuality, there arose a need for common terminology. Until the eighteenthcentury, it was referred to through the practices... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This recognition of sodomy as the characterizing practice of homosexuals indicates society s general disregard of women as homosexuals. It was apparently beyond the capability of most people during the eighteenth century even to consider that women could engage in any practice so unnatural and strange. Women, themselves, used this disbelief to their advantage, as in the case of a woman suspected of homosexual involvement, a suspected Mistress Clap, who was asked by a judge whether she had anything to say for herself. I hope it will be considered that I am a woman, she replied briefly, and therefore it cannot be thought that I would ever be concerned with such practices (Hyde 64). Besides denying any involvement by women in such practices, one of the other beliefs commonly held in England during the eighteenth century was that young boys learned, or were inadvertently taught to be homosexual. One widely accepted belief blamed the teaching of such deviance on their schooling. Male bonding in schools was crucial. Its result was radical female isolation and a complex pattern of male friendship codes instilled by years of male bonding (Rousseau 144). In another argument against schools in the charge of encouraging homosexual tendencies, An early eighteenth century work called Plain Reasons for the Growth of Sodomy in England blames the custom of sending young boys to kindergartens run by women for ... • 16. Gender Aspects Of Sex In Sex And The City This blurring of gender norms, which would normally be seen as taboo is actually celebrated and fully embraced in the context of the show. This is similar to what Sex and the City does in the creation of Samantha Jones, one of the main characters of the show. Throughout the show Sam is seen as the wildest and most sexually liberated character. She is a highly successful, confident businesswoman who has sex like a man . Samantha defies popular gender norms by unapologetically speaking her mind and truly having sex with no strings attached in a world in which women are expected to be fragile prudish and depended on men in order to feel fulfillment. The writers of Sex and the Citydo a wonderful job of presenting the kind of feminism that we are likely to experience today. What that means is that unlike the feminism we see in Grey s Anatomy in which equality is achieved, the experiences of the characters in Sex and the City and the relationship of the main characters seem to be less of a fantasy and more of a reality. The lives of the four main characters, Charlotte, Carrie, Miranda and Samantha and their relationships serve as a representation of the different kinds of women that live amongst us today. On one end we have the most traditional portrayal of women in network television, Charlotte York. Charlotte is the most conservative and prudish one of the four women. A cluster is a concentration of institutions and companies in a particular branch of industry within a particular area. Companies can highly benefit from this factor through sharing competences, short delivery times and close co operations. These are major influences on BMW s inbound logistics, meaning that most of its aspects, like storing and distributing, are outsourced to their suppliers. Two major clusters of BMW are Leipzig and the so called Automobildreieck (automotive triangular) which includes the cities Dingolfing/Landshut Regensburg Ingolstadt. Novelty is defined as the invention must not have previously existed in any way or have been used by other individuals. In November of 1944, John McCloy, the United States Assistant Secretary of War, responded by letter to John Pehle, United States Executive Director of the War Refugee Board, in opposition and briefly supported as to why the War Department of the United States was against and why it would not go through with the bombing operation of the concentration camp and extermination camp at Auschwitz Birkenau. In the brief McCloy laid out five specific reasons as to why the department would not be carried out the military plan at that point in time during the war. The five reasons that made up McCloy s argument were: first, Positive destruction of these camps would necessitate precision bombing, employing heavy or medium bombardment, or attack by low flying or dive bombing aircraft, preferably the latter. Second, the target is beyond the maximum range of medium bombardment, dive bombers and fighter bombers located in United Kingdom, France or Italy. Third, use of heavy bombardment from United Kingdom bases would necessitate a hazardous round trip flight unescorted of approximately 2,000 miles over enemy territory. Fourth, At the present critical stage of the war in Europe, our strategic air forces are engaged in the destruction of industrial target systems vital to the dwindling war potential of the enemy, from which they should not be diverted. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans how to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. Beginning with when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The snake quickly flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road. The poet has given the snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle tire (6). The poet uses this technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an observer, and telling the story from a third person point of view. The narrator feels some sort of remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from the road, and carries him into the bushes (8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken to, and hidden or out of sight of the road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as a braided whip (9 10). Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven pattern of the snake s scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. Essay On Counterculture In The 1960s One of the most exciting things about studying more recent history is almost intrinsically connected to the advent of the photographic camera, which offers spontaneous imagery of events in the moment that the artwork of the past could only attempt to recreate. The transition from black and white with a burst of color following the Second World War offered to the public eye a realistic representation of events that they had not had the opportunity to experience before. Color photographs boomed in the decades following the war, which provides historians today with a wide breadth of visual sources with which to corroborate other materials. This is especially true when examining the documentation of the counterculture in the 1960s. Imperfect knowledge occurs when either the consumer or the producer know more than the other about the externalities that occur due to the production or consumption of a good. A government can use persuasion techniques to correct imperfect knowledge on the part of the consumer. Ways in which the government can do this include educational advertising and changes to the national curriculum to impart views the government deems will correct imperfect knowledge. It is argued that the production of mobile phones exerts negative externalities on the Asian employees of the mobile phone (Extract E, Line 16). An example of a negative externality on the Asian workers is that of low wages paid by Western firms to employees in poorer, foreign countries. If the government s policy of persuasion was successful, demand for mobile phones produced by firms that incur low costs by paying lower wages should decrease (See Figure 2). This would decrease the quantity consumed of low cost mobile phones, and reduce the negative externality of an inequality in the distribution of wealth and incomes, present in the production of low cost mobile phones. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover, Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1.INTRODUCTION Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well known technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It provides the functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications have been developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using bisimulation technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this problem, a new technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this article, we will carry out a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation technique and bisimulation technique. • 39. Sleep Apnea Definition According to the National heart, lung, and blood institute website, Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which a person has one or more pauses in breathing or weak breaths while they sleep (NIH National heart, lung and blood Institute, 2012, definition). The pauses and breathing can last from a few seconds to minutes, and breathing pauses may happen 30 times or more an hour. After the pauses, normal breathing can start but with a loud snort or choking sound (NIH National heart, lung and blood Institute, 2012, definition). Sleep Apneacan be categorized in three types: obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea and complex sleep apnea syndrome. The cause of sleep apnea is due to a blockage of the throat muscles that keep airway flow open. Some of the reasons for the blockage can be the relaxing of throat muscles and tongue unusually, the size of your tongue and tonsils are not appropriate for the opening of your windpipe, and people with weight issues. Other reasons can be the size of your head and neck which may lead to a narrow airway passage in the mouth and throat. In addition, as people get older, the brain signals ability gets worse and causes throat muscles to stiffen. Consequently, airways have an increased chance of narrowing or collapsing (NIH National heart, lung and blood Institute, 2012, causes). Snoring is one of the most known factor of sleep apnea, and ... Meyer (2010) continues that in 2007, 25 million families received EITC payments totaling $49.7 billion. Meyer (2010) avers that as a result, the EITC lifted at least 4.0 million individuals above the poverty line. Meyer (2010) further continues to explain that in addition to directly raising incomes, the EITC has sharply changed work incentives, currently increasing the after‐taxwage by up to 45% for those with low earnings. The EITC overall is part of the tax system and does not necessitate individuals to have a tax liability that the credit offsets. Meyer (2010) maintains that a person without a net tax liability receives it as a payment that, by 2009, could be as large as $5,657. The objective of the EITC has been to move earnings while stimulating employment. This characteristic paved the way for political support for its early acceptance and for its following development. But no need to worry, for two of these mysteries will be solved. If the chicken and the egg battle is ever resolved, it will be well known. As for the other two, they will be answered soon. There was once a very lonely sandwich named PB. He was a strong believer in the church. There was another lonely sandwich named Jelly, she was a strong believer as well. But they had to do a multitude of tasks. These tasks had to demonstrate how the church is growing socially. There were four tasks they had to complete. He actually proposes two different ontological arguments at different points in the Prosologium. His first Ontological Argument for God s Existence starts by defining God based on Christian belief as a being than which nothing greater can be conceived. It is on the foundation of this definition that he builds his argument. Anselm s first point is that anyone who hears about God, this being than which nothing greater can be conceived, will be able to understand what he is hearing and grasp that definition of God. The first critic is a monk named Gaunilo of Marmoutier, who lived at the same time as Anselm. His critique of Anselm s first Ontological Argument for God s Existenceis that using the same argument one could prove the existence of things that do not actually exist. Gaunilo supports his objection by presenting Anselm s argument except with an island in the place of God as the thing than which none greater can be conceived. The argument seems to prove conclusively that there is an island than which none greater can be conceived, but since there is not objectively a maximally great island, the argument form is seemingly discredited. Himma argues, however, that Gaunilo s objection points out a limit to Anselm s argument but does not actually disprove it. The properties of an island that make it great are not ones that have a conceptual maximum. Himma points out that it is this lack of properties with conceptual maximums that makes the island argument fail, not the argument form itself. On the other hand, the properties of Anselm s Christian God that make that God great do have a conceptual maximum, properties such as perfect knowledge and perfect power. One cannot conceptually have greater knowledge than knowing all and only true propositions, or greater power than being able to do everything that is possible to do. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. While Western Literature conforms to the ever expanding needs of society by breaking away from the book to make its way to the big screen, it still relies on some of the most classic of stories, ironically, stories usually hailing from the East. The Matrix serves as a standing example of this relationship, in that it effectively paves way in the Western world while relying on the Eastern classic known as the Bible, especially in the area of theme . Like the story of Christ, The Matrixtells the story of a man, not meant for the world he is in, but to instead, save the world he is in. While The Matrix is an original story, much inspiration was clearly drawn upon from the Bible as more than obvious Biblical parallels are scattered throughout the film and serve a greater purpose than that which the naked mind might understand, all while simultaneously utilizing a range of technical effects to further its purpose. The Matrix was released in 1999 by the studio Village Roadshow Pictures under the helm of director/producer duo the Wachowski Brothers.
