The Dangers Of Short Term Memory And Long Term Memory
I can t find my keys! Could you please remind me of your name ? Sorry, I forgot How many
times have you made similar statements? Have you ever found it hard to recall things, places,
people, names and conversations? Do you sometimes feel frustrated at your inability to recall
important dates? If so, you are not alone. Forgetfulness is a very common experience for many
people.
No doubt, having a good memory is a vital part of healthy living. Our brain has the capacity to
remember huge amounts of information because millions of neural connections facilitate storing
and retrieval of facts and figures.
It is important to note that no one needs to store everything indefinitely. In fact, there are some
things we would rather forget. Nevertheless, you need to regularly retain significant information for
limited periods. This is called short term memory. For example, short term memory helps you retain
information to compare prices of items on your shopping list. ... Show more content on

This is called long term memory, which is also very important. Long term memory helps you to
recall special moments, occasions, anniversaries or time spent with loved ones?
At the 2016 memory championship held in Singapore, The overall winner, Alex Mullen, a
medical student moved from being an individual with an average memory to a World champion
with the ability to recall 3,029 numbers in an hour and a whole pack of cards in 21.5 seconds with
just 3 years of training. What an amazing feat!

Teacher And Student Behaviors In Inclusive Classrooms By...
Each fall, both teachers and students look expectantly toward the new year as a time of excitement
and optimism. Will I be able to help my students learn as much as they can as fast as they can? Will
the teacher like me? Will my students like me? With or without research or theory, each member of
the class community knows the importance of the teacher student relationship. As an administrator
in an elementary school with both the highest gifted percentage in the count and a visually impaired
cluster unit, it is important that I understand the scientific data surrounding forming relationships to
support teacher understanding of its impact on their classroom climate and to encourage methods
of class community building. The problem, therefore, is twofold what is the impact of Exceptional
Student Education(ESE) students on teacher student relationships and what preconceived notions
do teachers have that impact their relationships with their students. This is important to the field of
education as we transition from the old model of secluding ESE students in self contained
classrooms to the newer model of inclusion. As teachers better understand the research, their
behaviors affecting relationship building will be of greater import and, thus, a priority. In Teacher
and Student Behaviors in Inclusive Classrooms by Nevin Guner Yildiz, teacher and student
behaviors were observed and recorded on a data collection form designed according to the time
sampling method.

Writing For The Instant Messaging And Text Messaging...
Another reason it is essential to place an emphasis on creative writing in the classroom is because
of today s rapidly developing society. As the world has become so technologically advanced, there
have become more and more ways for people to use written communication to express their
thoughts. Where there was once snail mail and emails, now things have become as instantaneous
as a text message or Tweet. Since people seem to write with such haste and almost carelessness
today, it is important for students to be provided with slower paced writingexploration in the
classroom. In Writing for the Instant Messaging and Text Messaging Generation: Using New
Literacies to Support Writing Instruction, Sheelah M. Sweeney states, Teachers may be concerned
about the way some students write [...] imagining the potential negative impact on their students
academic writing, but this interest can be an instructional advantage (Sweeney, 2010, p. 121).
While naturally there may be cause for concern with the way students can erroneously communicate
so quickly through the written word, the unease teachers may have will actually be a good thing for
students if these educators move forward with awareness instead of ignorance. Technology is one
aspect of society that will not be regressing in the future, and the best way educators can adapt to
this is by incorporating these advancements into the educationof students in years to come.
This article states that instead of shunning

Somatic Marker Decision-Making
All result of studies showed that ISD and patients cannot process their emotions properly so they
cannot use their emotions as a baseline for decision making. Usually their judgments are not
advantages, under uncertainty their decisions are impaired but when conditions are in certainty
they can still make decisions. In reference to Somatic Marker Hypothesis, the key and important
idea is decision making is influenced by marker signals. There are three routes which are related to
brainand they influence cognition. These three routes are spinal cord, vagus nerve and endocrine.
The article focused on the importance of vagus nerve in decision making. Vagus nerves are crucial
for somatic makers in which decision making is influenced. Indirect evidence

Periodontal Disease
Brodoski 1 Laura Brodoski English 102 Ms. Vatcher, MA 1 October 2002 Why Periodontal
Disease Should be a Concern to All. Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease
or gingivitis. This infection is serious enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This
chronic infection starts around the tooth and it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal
disease can affect anywhere from one tooth to all thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts
with the plaque that builds up on your teeth everyday. The plaque build up causes the gums to
become red and inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the remaining plaque will also cause the
gums to bleed. This stage of periodontal disease is commonly referred... Show more content on

Another problem that periodontal disease is associated with is pre term births. It is estimated
that ten percent of all pre term babies have mothers with periodontal disease. It is easy to
understand why prevention and healing of this disease are so important. Prevention is the key
with periodontal disease. Proper brushing and flossing at least twice a day is recommended. If
you like electric toothbrushes, my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like
Listerine is helpful as well. If you are a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you
continue to smoke. If you are pregnant, make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do
the same if you have heart disease. Make an appointment every six months with your dental
hygienist. Avoid sugary foods that encourage plaque growth. Suckers and hard candies are the
worst because they sit in your mouth. This gives the bacteria and plaque plenty of time to grow.
See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and floss twice a day. If prevention is
already too later and youВЎВЇve been diagnosed with periodontal disease there are ways to
encourage healing. It is important to start or maintain daily flossing and brushing. Most dentists
will prescribe an antibiotic rinsing agent. You may get a referral to see a periodontist. This is a

The True Meaning Of Love In Love With My Best Friend
Whenever I was a junior in high school, I fell completely in love with my best friend. I know
this sounds cliche, but this experience lead to many lessons. I did not realize another human
being could have such an impact on my life. Love is crazy because it is unexpected and smacks
you right in the face. I did not realize this person would be my every thing for the next two years.
I did not realize all the lessons I learned and growing I did. I not only learned the true meaning of
heartbreak, but the true meaning of loveand life. With this experience, I reached out to see how
different people cope, what I have learned, and how this shaped me into who I am. The craziest
thing about love is that it is abstract. You may love an object or person, but you can not grab
love. I am not going to go on about my relationship, but the after math. The intimate details do
not matter to me anymore. After every thing went down, I felt broken. I felt like nothing in my
life was going to be okay again. Isn t it unimaginable how something you can not even see makes
you feel this way? I shut out every thing around me and pushed people away. All because one
person decided to give up when I did not want to. Even after the horrible exchanges of words
were tossed back and forth, I still did not want to give up. I was hoping his love would be strong
enough to realize how much I cared. But it did not. It did not mean anything to that careless boy. I
d rather walk barefoot across broken glass. Weeks

Drug Cartels in Mexico Essay
Mexican Modern War There are seven drug cartels in Mexico (CRS 1). The most important
cartels are Sinaloa and Juarez. The Sinaloa cartel operates in the states of Nayarit, Sinaloa and
Mexico State (Reforma 1). The Juarez cartel operates in Sinaloa, Nuevo LeГіn, Chihuahua, Jalisco,
Morelos; and Quintana Roo. Mexican cartels employ individuals and groups of enforcers, known
as sicarios. Statistics show that more than twenty people are killed daily in Ciudad Juarez,
Chihuahua in crimes related to drugs. Drug lords send their gunmen to strategic places where
innocent people that are in the wrong place at the wrong time are killed. Narco Lords like Vicente

It should also investigate if the employees in the banks are corrupt or have relation with the
cartels. The Mexican Government should conclude obsolete programs and devote those
resources to drug cartels. The Mexican Government spends unnecessary millions of dollars
paying for local police departments that do not combat the trafficking of drugs. Local authorities
are afraid of confronting the drug cartels. We can just watch how they transport the drug from the
Silverado to the Ram, crossing from Sinaloa to Chihuahua, We know who they are but we do not
dare to oppose them, it s a death sentence (Soto). Alberto Soto stated that the local police
department has been corrupted or threatened, They do not care about their jobs but they fear for
their families . The actual military program must also be replaced it. The government should
cancel the PGR and create a stronger fiscal judicial program that supervises the Mexican army
movements toward Chihuahua and Sinaloa. Felipe Calderon has sent more than 24,000 soldiers
and Federal police to nine states, included Sinaloa and Chihuahua, to combat the cartels (Medina
1). This mobilization requires a stronger supervisor instead of the PGR. There had been several
army movements against drug cartels in Cd. Juarez and in Culiacan, Sinaloa, but they were not
successful because PGR did not supervise and cooperates with the Mexican Army. PGR should not

Difference Between True Experimental And Quasi...
PSY201 ~ Assignment 2: Short Answer Quiz Question 1 Explain the difference between true
experimental and quasi experimental research design. Provide examples in your answer. (285
words) True experimental and quasi experimental research designs are the two most commonly
used types of research design. They share some common characteristics such as measuring
collected data to test the hypothesis, although, overall there are many differences between the two,
especially in regards to the type of research being conducted (The Regents of the University of
Michigan, 2013 ). A true experimental research design includes random selection and group
assignment of participants into either experimental or control groups, manipulation of the
independent variables and observation of the participants to determine if there is a statistically
significant cause and effect relationship present between the variables (Follmer Greenhoot, 2003).
True experimental research designs are most commonly used in experimental drug trials for new
pharmaceuticals to see if they have the desired treatment outcomes. Quasi experimental research
designs were once considered flawed and inferior to true experimental research designs, but they
have become progressively widespread over the last three to four decades in many research fields,
especially psychology and other social sciences (Coolican, 2014, p. 121). It differs from true
experimental research design in the way that quasi experimental research doesn t

Roberto Clemente
My five page paper is on a famous baseball star named Roberto Clemente. As he was very talented,
he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around
Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life
and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life.
Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of
concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the
youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped
deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store
and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family
and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and
field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin
strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy.
Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his father loading
and unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very interested in baseball ever since
he was young and played against teams in his neighborhood. He went to Vizcarrondo High School

Essay about Lewis Carroll s Alice In Wonderland
Lewis Carroll s Alice In Wonderland
So she sat on, with closed eyes, and half believed herself in Wonderland, though she knew she
had but to open them again, and all would change to dull reality . . . (Carroll 119). Wonderland: a
place where everything is different and the imagination is free to roam wild. A place where it
does not matter how big a person is, but the intellect that is in a person. Existing in the dreams of
children everywhere, wonderland is a place of escape, causing a person to think in new, different
ways: a place like no other. Through his novel, Alice s Adventure s in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
captures and writes about a little girl s adventures through her own dreamland. Upon waking up and
telling her sister ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, her surroundings and its inhabitants are what are different. After following a white rabbit
down a dark, never ending hole, she sees a beautiful garden full of distinguished colored flowers
unlike anything she has ever seen before. With the colors of her imagination, Alice longs to
wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains (Carroll 19).
However, upon waking up she comes back to reality with the normalcy of colors and humans.
No more is she surrounded by the impossibilities of a talking chesire cat or the abnormalities of a
crazed tea party in which a door mouse lives in a tea kettle. She is once again back to the reality
where she must act appropriately and do schoolwork. She no longer has the ability to say
whatever comes to mind and argue with whoever says something of which she disagrees. She must
retain her societal role and be cautious and courteous at all times and respect her elders unlike how
she disrespected the Queen of Hearts. Wonderland is a place of the imagination where anything is
possible.
As a person grows older he loses a part of his childhood. One of those parts included is his ability
to dream and imagine enchantments such as wonderland. When Alice told her sister of her dream
of wonderland, it made the sister reflect on her own imagination. She could see herself in
wonderland as the whole place around her became alive with the strange creatures of her little
sister s dreams (Carroll

Huron Community Reflection
I found a quote about three years ago on a wall at my camp that has stuck with me ever since.
Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change. The quote is by an American
politician by the name Barbara Mikulski and although I do not know what her personal beliefs
are, personally this is a mantra I aspire to live by. I want to make a difference in the world, and my
first step out of high school on that path would be at the Centre for Global Studies at Huron
University College. I believe that one of the things that makes Huron special is it s smaller size in

Alcoholism In James Joyce s Dubliners
In Dubliners by James Joyce, there is a common theme of alcoholism that occurs many times in
this collection of stories. Hardly any of these stories fail to mention the presence and influence of
alcohol. In some of these stories, Joyce puts the focus on the short term consequences of excessive
night drinking, This leads to abusing others and self inflicted pain. In other stories, the focus is on
the effects of a strong addiction that would eventually lead the character(s) to an early trip to the

Argumentative Essay On Area 51
Imagine you are standing in front of a large, official looking building. The doors slowly open

released to the public about it. If you dig deep enough, information can be found about what Area
51 is, theories surrounding this odd place, stories from a retired scientist, a possibly even more odd
and mysterious building nearby, and, the oddest part about this place, its residents. Area 51has some
interesting history. It is located in southern Nevada, some what near Las Vegas. Officially, it is a
United States Air Force Facility and is an extended branch of the Edwards Air Force Base. The
primary purpose of this base has not been revealed to the public. The CIA acknowledged the base
for the first time in 2005. The base s official name is Homey Airport, but was called Area 51 in an

How Did The Armenian Genocide Affect Society
The Armenian Genocide was a planned murder of the Armenians, due to the ethnic differences
between the Turks and the Armenians, which was spurred by the rising atrocities due to a suspicion
that the Armenians were not faithful to the Ottoman Turks. A rising question around this research
was to what extent did the Armenian Genocide affect the religious, political, economic, and social
aspects of society? The Armenian Genocide resulted in discrimination against the Christian
Armenians through separating the Armenians from the Ottoman Turks, granting less rights for the
Armenians in fear that the Armenians would abuse their power as they were viewed as very
untrustworthy, and for this reason the Armenians had less wealth and power than the Ottoman
Turks. Another major reason for the genocide was the desire of the Ottomans in creating a
homogenous Turkish state.
I chose this topic because I am genuinely interested about how discrimination has affected
populations and what effect that has had on both populations the one being discriminated and the
one discriminating. The Armenian Genocide was the mass massacre of Armenians by a group of
reformers that took power in 1908, known as the Young Turks (Vahagn 797). These reformers
believed that the Armenians posed a threat to Turkey, especially during World War I
. Due to this, the
Armenians were discriminated against before the genocide, as the Christian Armenians were

Countee Cullen Analysis
Countee Cullen was a leading writer of the Harlem Renaissance. Adopted as a teenager, he was
never able to know his real, true family, along with its heritage, so he was not able to find his
true identity. He felt these devastating effects of a loss of identity after losing his family, while
being thrust into a new one, and never found or understood his own heritage. This later impacted
major aspects of his life, such as his style of writing, his religion, and his sexuality. Cullen was
raised in Harlem, but there is no record of his place of birth. He was born May 30th, 1903 and
was raised by his grandmother until her death in 1918. At that time, Cullen was just a fifteen
year old boy with no family left to look after him. Cullen was adopted by Reverend Frederick A.
Cullen, a pastor from one of Harlem s most popular churches. Reverend Frederick introduced
Cullen to an atmosphere that encouraged education, faith, and sophistication. Cullen later on
enrolled in New York University, where he published Ballad of a Brown Girl in 1923, before his
graduation. After graduation, he went on to earn his master s degree in English from Harvard
University, which he received in 1926. While at Harvard, he published Color, which was a

We were in Irvine that day for a soccer tournament. I played defense at the time and enjoyed

When I got to my team, I set my bag down and did the stretches our coach, Wendi, wanted us to

stupid due to the fact that...well hello?! We re a team and teams are supposed to talk to each

person I sort of talked to was my coach. Yet, I didn t talk to her all the time. I was shy.

Compare And Contrast Martin Luther King Jr And Malcolm X
The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and 1970s paved a way towards a more racially
harmonious America. Two famous men during this movement for the black community were
Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Two very different men with two very different
ideologies and two very different strategies towards equality. One was credited as the Father of the
Civil Rights Movement while another one was a hostile extremist who encouraged violence only
for self defense. Both men made an impact on civil rights for the black community, but people were
more gravitated towards King than they were to Malcolm X. On August 28th, 1963; one of

and Malcolm X giving two completely different speeches, both had similar strengths in these
speeches. Both men were powerful speakers who provoked powerful speeches. They were sure
to clarify what they meant and where they stood, and both knew just what to say to their
audience. These two men were very popular in their time and had many followers, but the people
tended to gravitate more towards King than Malcolm X. King knew how to make his speeches
memorable, not just by who wrote it but how he wrote it. King used metaphors, used repetition,
and quoted well known documents in his speeches. I have dream is a well known and
remembered phrase in his speech, but is not said until closer to the end of his speech. One
hundred years later... and Now is the time... and let freedom ring... are also phrases King repeats.
By using repetition in his speech, he made it more memorable to his audience and made the
meaning of his speech clearer. Using metaphors painted a more illustrated picture for his
audience. King described America s promise of freedom as a check marked insufficient funds,
which made his speech more illustrated and therefore, more memorable to his audience.
Malcolm X used metaphors as well, though did not use as much repetition in his speech like
King did. Malcolm X s speeches, while just as powerful, were not as memorable. His main
points were expressed, that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was a prophet and was the only
means of escape from the doomed White America. Malcolm X does not quote the Bible word for
word but does explain the prophets and their stories. The main prophet he uses is Moses, and he
compares and contrasts Moses to Elijah Muhammad. He compares how Pharaoh did not take
Moses seriously and that now White America is doing the same to Muhammad. Even comparing
the Civil Right leaders to the magicians Pharaoh hired to throw off Moses people. They have been
hired by this white government to make our

Examples Of Whistleblowing
When a person feels that something illegal or ethically wrong is happening in their place of
work, what can they do? That person has the right to go to their administration about the acts
that are occurring. (GAP) This action would be called whistle blowing. Furthermore, whistle
blowers would be protected by law from repercussions from coming forward about the ethical or
illegal issue. (Hallman, 2012) The organization that protects accountants and other financial
professionals within the field of business is the IMA. For example, one case involving a whistle
blower within the accounting field was in 1989. In 1988 James Holzrichter, who was a young
auditor with Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, IL, suspected fraud within the company.
He noticed that on certain transactions, Northrop was inflating their costs to get larger payments
in return from the government agency they were auditing.(Behn) At the same time, his co
worker Rex Robinson who was a test engineer for the company noticed fraud was occurring.
(Merle,2005) Robinson and Holzrichter noticed that the parts weren t even being tested, they
were throwing them away. They wiped these parts from the inventory to make them look like
they were already used, so they would have to buy the parts over again to actually finish the
project. In the end, they were billing them for twice for each part used in the process. (Carozza,

Attitude Towards Americans
The movement of jobs overseas has caused mounting anxiety in the United States, this anxiety
has turned to hate and fear, and is effecting the attitude towards immigrants. This stress has
caused a movement against immigrants coming into the country to begin. One presidential
candidate ran on this idea of how Americans are so afraid of change they should just build a wall
to keep everyone else out. Presidential candidate Donald Trump said I would build a great wall,
and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I ll build them very inexpensively, I will
build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall (Trump).

The Internet And The World Wide Web
The Internet is a unique place where all different nationalities, social groups and age groups with
different values and characteristics, meet and interact. All spheres of media are being represented
on the world wide web. Some of the relations are being mirrored from those present in real life, but
the internetwas never the same. As with real life, not everyone on the internet is equal and there are
numerous differences between the users of this medium of mass communication. Even though the
inequalities are still present on the internet, they are subtler than those existing within the offline
world. Almost everyone has access, but how we benefit from it depends on our status, intelligence
and willingness to explore. Audience members are becoming important and active producers, being
given the tools, which bring them closer to professionals. Every internet user has equal access to
an online education, but an intellectually privileged group will make a more productive use of it.
This can be named as equalityof opportunity. The argument cannot be defined into one side.
Average people can keep in touch and interact with celebrities, which would never happen outside
the internet. They obey the same rules and laws imposed by the services they use, yet are not
equal, as famous people are more powerful, being in charge of a huge fan base. Another important
issue is a marginalization of societies excluded from the internet outreach. The inequalities and
equalities should also be

Common Core And Secondary Education Essay
INTRODUCTION Our nation is LAGGING in academics compared to other nations, such as South
Korea, Finland, and Japan. According to Emmeline Zhao (2012), the students of the United States
scored lower on academic tests compared to other countries. However, the United States is not the
worst performing nation. Its academic growth is lacking (Zhao, 2012).
One way to compete effectively with other nations is Common Core for secondary education.
Common Core (2016), per its website, is designed to prepare students for the future by providing
standards in which a student should meet by the end of each school year. The main goals of the
Common Core are to build upon state standards and to draw from elements of top performing
educational systems to prepare students for the globalized society.
Some support the Common Core because it promotes a higher level of comprehension skills and
independent learning. Lucy Calkins (2012) mentioned that the Common Core should help students
read beyond the surface level, and placed the emphasis on a student s ability to master the academic
standards (p. 1). It helps prepare students for the real world by understanding the nuances of the text
and emphasizing on the students task on learning the standards and applying them in the real world.
Others oppose the Common Core because it does not sufficiently improve comprehension skills and
college readiness. Sandra Strotsky (2010) emphasized that the Common Core standards did not

Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education Picture this: a world with no color. Would
racism still exist? Or would people be discriminated based on other things such as height, weight,
or the sound of their voice? We may never know the answer to these questions. Racism is still alive
in the United States, but it is not as severe and oppressive as it was during the era of the Jim Crow
laws. The 13th amendment freed the slaves in the United States, however, not many white
Americans agreed with this. The 13th amendment did not shield the African Americans from

There was no clarification on what race would be considered white or what would be considered
black. During this incident, Homer Plessy, who was seven eighths white and one eighth African
American, purchased a rail ticket for travel within Louisiana and took a seat in a car reserved for
white passengers. (The state Supreme Court had ruled earlier that the law could not be applied to
interstate travel.) After refusing to move to a car for African Americans, he was arrested and
charged with violating the Separate Car Act. (Duignan 2017). Judge Ferguson ruled that the
separation was fair and did not violate the fourteenth amendment. The state Supreme Court also
backed up this decision. The case was brought to the Supreme Court and The law was challenged in
the Supreme Court on grounds that it conflicted with the 13th and 14th Amendments. By a 7 1
vote, the Court said that a state law that implies merely a legal distinction between the two races did
not conflict with the 13th Amendment forbidding involuntary servitude, nor did it tend to
reestablish such a condition. (History.com Staff 2009). This decision set the key precedent of
Separate but Equal in the United States. Racial segregation kept growing. In 1954 the Supreme

The Incidence Of Aki Between Two Perioperative Antibiotic...
Anecdotal evidence suggested an increase incidence of AKI when gentamicin was used in
combination with cefazolin and vancomycin for perioperative prophylaxis of elective hip and knee

of this study was to compare the incidence of AKI between two perioperative antibiotic regimens in
patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

This was a retrospective cohort that evaluated 300 patients who underwent elective hip or knee

There was no significant difference in rates of PJI, CDAD, length of stay, need for acute
hemodialysis, or readmission related to AKI.
Background
There were more than 1,000,000 total hip and knee replacements in the United States in 2010.1
Prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) are a rare complication of joint replacements, estimated to be less
than 2% of cases, but result in significant morbidity and increased healthcare costs.2 Frequently, PJI
requires removal of the prosthesis and a prolonged course of IV antibiotics. It has been estimated
that the cost of one PJI is approximately $100,000 after a hip arthroplasty and $60,000 after a knee
arthroplasty.2 Perioperative prophylactic antibiotics for total joint replacements have been proven
to reduce rates of surgical site infections.2 3 It is recommended that prophylactic antibiotics are
administered within one hour prior to surgical incision and are discontinued within 24 hours
following the end of surgery.4 First generation cephalosporins, such as cefazolin, are the agents
most commonly utilized for antimicrobial prophylaxis in joint replacement procedures.2,5
Vancomycin may be used in addition to a first generation cephalosporin in institutions considered to
have a high rate of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) surgical site infections. 2 If
there is local data to suggest gram negative pathogens as a cause of PJI then it is recommended to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Athens
Democracy and oligarchy, what does this have to do with anything, right? Well, actually when it
comes to Ancient Greece it is very important, because these two types of government are the main
two types in Greece. Athens is superior to Sparta, because how things were changed, and the power
of the people. First, Athenswent through different types of government, it made them where they

the best geographical advantage, and I think we all know which one that is. Athens is superior to
Sparta, because it is the largest city state in Greece, the three different regions, the trades, and the
climate. There were three different regions, the lowlands, the mountains, and the coast. The soil
was uneven and very rocky on the Greek peninsula, which left less than 20% of land to be farmed

Christ Birth Research Paper
Christmas is arguably the biggest holiday in the western world. It is the holiday that brings forth
the spirt of joy, giving s and love. Christmas is also the year that brings forth remembrance of
Jesus Christ s birth. However, the nativity story, the story of Christ birth, has much more meaning
to it then what people reflect on it as. When the Nativity story is told it seems the main focus or the
happy ending is always the savior birth. That arguably is not what the Bible fully attended the focus
to remain on. The Nativity story is more than just a story about Christbirth; it is a metaphor that

Mary knew that Joseph would most likely leave her due to her mysteries pregnancy and a
tarnished reputation. Although, those things are very important factors to look at when
considering the risk Mary took, when she accepted to birth the Messiah, the most significate risk
Mary had taken was the endangerment of her own life. According to the Old Testament law, if a
women failed to remain physically pure before marriage she would be brought to the door of her
father s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath
wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father s house: so shalt thou put evil away from
among you. And if the women was betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and
lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them
with stones that they die. Again, Mary knew the challenges she had to face. She had nothing but
a story of an angel to give to Joseph and the towns people. The possibility of Joseph and the
towns people believing that Mary, a poor servant, miraculously became pregnant by the Holy Spirit
is as slim as it would be now. In fact, most would conclude that Mary was covering up an immoral
relationship with Roman soldier. Yet, Mary kept the same attitude that her son had in Gethsemane
when He prayed, not my will, but thine, be done. Regardless,

Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Essay
Too often in politics, there are fallacious either/or arguments put up as a justification or an

Such a broad spectrum of diverse habitats occurring within a single protected unit is unparalleled
in North America, and perhaps in the entire circumpolar north. (Arctic Refuge: Oil and Gas

species of fish and 180 bird species (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service). Perhaps the largest
biological issue with drilling in area 1002 is the Porcupine caribou Herd. Drilling supporters
argue that caribou are affected by the drilling operation. Examples of this are made at the Prunhoe
Bay drill site where caribou actually use gravel pads and roads to avoid insect attacks and are
unaffected by human presence. But much of this information is miss interpreted. Adult caribou are
unaffected by drilling operations. But, cows and their calves are more sensitive during the first

drilling becomes an issue. Cows calf in area 1002 because they need the

This more modern view of corporations is needed to level the playing field and facilitate

Success Stories
The sustainability reporting concept may still be new to a certain extent in the US. By contrast,
stakeholders have always demanded more transparency on financial reporting. Many countries in
Europe, Africa, and Asia have successfully adopted sustainability reporting as part of their corporate
governance. Interestingly, the US has lagged in fully embracing it. Companies that have opted to
integrate sustainability reporting have a distinct competitive advantage over those that only
disclose its financial position. Overtime, sustainability reporting contributes to the reduction of
liabilities, improves business performance, and adds value to society in general.
Some companies may think that sustainability reporting could have a negative impact in their
business. However, many businesses around the world are looking at it in the opposite manner. An
example is Johnson Johnson, a public traded company headquartered in New Brunswick, NJ. The
article A Model for Sustainability Reporting, issued by IMA in 2010, states that Johnson Johnson
began issuing formal sustainability reports in 1993 for which it has received widespread praise
over the years (Borkowski, Welsh, Wentzel, p. 30). Johnson Johnson is one of the top companies in

The Between Power And Corruption
Power Corrupts Absolutely

Human history has bared witness to more tyrants than it could hope to enumerate. Whether it be
despotic monarchs, autocratic dictators, or megalomaniac celebrities, countless figures in positions
of power have perpetuated Lord Acton s famous axiom, Power tends to corrupt, and absolute
power corrupts absolutely. (Acton, 1906; Figgis Laurence, 1906). However, is Acton s aphorism
scientifically valid, or is it purely anecdotal? Moreover, is it actually power that causes corruption or
are the corrupt attracted to power? These are questions that the scientific community has long
sought to answer. Acton s doctrine has inspired a wide array of experimental studies, most of which
utilize random manipulations of power in order to analyze how it alters behaviour. The limiting
factor in these procedures is the inability to control extraneous variables such as pre existing
inclinations to corrupt behaviour. In order to determine causation rather than just correlation
between power and corruption, researchers realized that in addition to manipulating power
exogenously they needed to conduct tests that gauged inclinations to corrupt behaviour or lack
there of. Many studies have also measured the hormone profiles of participants to see if these
profiles had any significant impact on results. Once these base assessments were analyzed,
researchers were able to recognize which participants had

The Importance Of Dementia
Dementia is an umbrella term used to explain a progressive disorder that affects how the brain
works and the ability to remember, think and reason. It is not a disease in itself but a group of
symptoms that may accompany a number of diseases that affect the brain. In 2012, the
Alzheimer s Society estimated that there were about 800,000 people with dementia in the UK. It
is forecast that this number will continue to increase to over two million by 2051. (Alzheimer s
society 2014) The ambulance service receives approximately one third of their emergency call
outs from people 75 and over, a significant proportion of whom may have dementia. This essay
aims to give the ambulance service a better understanding of what it is like to have dementia and
look at ways to promote a high level of compassionate care for these patients, based on that
understanding. It also looks at how treating someone with dementia can... Show more content on

often necessary to approach the situation in such a way to reduce the impact of these practical
difficulties which will help the patient maintain a sense of normality. This will also help the patient
feel independent and maintain their self esteem. An example of this would be: contacting the
patients doctor and organising a home visit from the patient. It could also be helpful to document
when the doctor is attending so the patient will be reminded in case they forget the

Cancer and Soy Protein Essay example
Soy has been greatly exaggerated as the answer to all our problems for years. Soy, in and of
itself, is toxic to the human body unless cooked thoroughly and properly. There are several side
affects of soy consumption, but the one I will be discussing is cancer. The miracle cure for cancer
is said to be soy protein and isoflavone supplements. Cancerrates are at an all time high, and the
disease is the second leading cause of mortality in the United States. The idea that soy could save
lives sounds amazing but, unfortunately, that is not the case.
Lots of studies prove that soy protein (or isoflavones) is conflicting or unproductive, but only a few
show that it might prevent cancer. Even some affirm that it can contribute to or ... Show more

This puts consumers at a greater risk for many health problems, including cancer. The soy
industry says that soy has a long list of evidence in the prevention and healing of gastrointestinal
cancers. The fact that soy protein is linked with a lowered risk of stomach cancer but a higher
risk of death from colorectal cancer was made known by the most remarkable study to come
along in recent years. Little or no association is shown by most epidemiological studies. Those
from the allium family like onions and garlic and yellow and green vegetables seem to be the
most hopeful foods for cancer defense. Other foods have been found protective like eggplant,
tomatoes, poultry, celery, tea, milk, fish, and snap beans. Soy is not the only dietary savior. The
studies fail to sustain Solae Company s petition for a health claim for soy protein, but give good
support for the FDA s endorsement of fruits and veggies as a way to prevent cancer. Foods that
are pickled, smoked and fried, vegetable cooking oils, processed meats, high salt dishes, and
fermented beans mainly labeled soy miso are often associated with stomach and colon cancers.
Things that have also been implicated are smoking, alcohol, noodles, bread and other starchy
carbohydrates, speed eating, and binge eating. It is not shocking that miso and other fermented
soybean products are associated to gastrointestinal cancers

Essay about Europeans and Native Americans In The New World
Europeans and Native Americans in the New World Disease and Medicine along with war and
religion were three ways American history has changed. When the colonists came over from
Europe they unknowingly changed the world forever in ways they couldn t have imagined. These
effects were present to both Native Americans and Europeans. Some of these changes made life
easier for both Native Americans and Europeans but some made relations worse too. And some
effects wouldn t show up until it was too late. One of these significant changes was the introduction
to new disease to the new world. When the Europeans came over and started to interact with the
Native Americans they brought with them new diseases that Native Americans weren t... Show

At first Europeans were skeptical of the medicine that the Native Americans used. Medicine men
and women used new medical techniques that the Europeans never have seen before, they prayed
to spirits and had ceremonies to heal some patients. Native American healers highly believed in
spiritual healing that Europeans were not accustom to and did not believe in. However Europeans
went crazy over the way Native Americans could use plants and herbs in healing. Native
Americans doctors would go into the forest often not far from their homes and find plants, berries,
barks, and roots that would be used in healing, although they have been known to go on trips for
several days to collect materials too. Many herbs that Native Americans used in early colonial
America are still used today like ginseng and bayberry. With the Native Americans knowledge of
herbs and natural remedies many colonists were beginning to think that Native American medicine
men and women were better doctors than their own educated European doctors. Natives Americans
came along way from being savages. War was common during the colonial period. Most of these
were short little scuffles with not many people getting injured or killed, there were not many
significant battles. Most of the fighting was over land and the miscommunication between the
Native Americans and Europeans. The fighting wasn t just between Native Americans and
Europeans, there was a lot of fighting between Native American tribes

Personal Experience Reflection Paper
On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, we arrived for our prearranged scheduled meeting at 9: 40 AM, for
our planned 10:00 AM, UNUM Field Visit with Ms. Veronica Alvarez at the Starbucks coffee
shop, located at 11979 Garvey Ave. El Monte, CA 91732. The Field Representative continue to
wait for Ms. Alvarez that she was late for her 10 o clock appointment, when she arrived at 10:30
AM, as she exited from a four door white Kia compact vehicle. Ms. Alvarez who was recognized
from our previous meeting with her on December 19, 2017, when she had refused to provide her
statements since she was legally represented was observed driving the said vehicle. Miss Alvarez
was seen exiting the driver side of the car as she walked in a normal gait towards our direction
where we waited for Ms. Alvarez inside the Starbuckscoffeeshop. We noted that the vehicle
appeared to be a newer vehicle which had a paper rear license plate.
Before Ms. Alvarez met with us at the coffee shop, we noted that she did not ambulate with any
walking devices or walking canes. She did not appear to be in any pain or any discomfort as she
had both of her hands to her side while she swayed back and forth with both of her hands to her
side as she walked briskly across the parking lot.
When Ms. Alvarez walked into the restaurant, she used her right hand to push the last door leading
into the Starbucks coffee shop. When she entered the coffee shop, Miss Alvarez apologized for

Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet And Edward Taylor
Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor are two of the most distinguished and fervent Puritan poets.
Yet this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot
help but find it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would
write so differently. Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text
itself. The differences themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The
first difference which is the most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet
has a unique style, but generally those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar
styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a
much more polished poet. Taylor s poetryis full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools
such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for
a highly educated preacher which Taylor was. Bradstreet on the other hand has a more simplistic
style that can be seen as the voice of the common or average Puritan. Therefore, there is far less
ornamentation in her poetry. If one compares the Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses Upon
the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666. and Taylor s From God s Determinations. One can see
the difference in syntax clearly. Bradstreet uses simple diction while tackling the topic of her
burning house. She uses simple and

Pope John 23 Research Paper
Pope John XXIII was one of the most influential Popes the Catholic Church had in the 20th century,
and perhaps one of the most important in its history. What he was able to do for the Church in his
short amount of time holding the Papacy was incredible. Originally seen as a transitional Pope,
John XXIII was certainly much more than that. His work in connecting with those of different
denominations of Christianity, as well as those of different faiths, has been instrumental to this day.
And, most of all, his call for the Vatican Council II was paramount for the modernization of the
church. Because of this, this paper will show that PopeJohn XXIII was important to the history of

Bertrand Russell And The Greatest Philosopher
BERTRAND RUSSELL Bertrand Russell was born on May 18, 1872 into British aristocracy, In
1931 career centered on work as a philosophy professor, writer and public lecturer. He not only
knew but worked with many dominant figures in the late 19th and 20th century as a philosopher, a
mathematician, science as well as politics. Russell was arguably the greatest philosopher in the
20th century. Although Russell was a decent man he got most of his ideas from Gottolob Frege, a
German mathematician, logician and philosopher. Gottolob was also a vicious anti semite and
proto Nazi. The Nobel Prize Committee described Bertrand Russellas one of the best spokesman of
rationality and humanity. According to Russell, the value of philosophyis to be sought in the effects
it has on those who study it. The more you study philosophy, the more free your mindbecome.
Russell believed that exercise is to the good of the body as philosophy is to the goods of the mind.
Philosophy keeps alive the interest in the world. It aims the achievement of knowledge through
criticism and self evaluation. Philosophizing allow those who study it to enrich their intellectual
imagination. Russell saw philosophy as a way of life, insisting that questions have an ethical
urgency. I believed his assertion is correct. One who sought philosophy cultivate the mind. They
become self reflective and wiser. From that point on their mind is free to evaluate the world around
us. Philosophy evasion of questions pertains to the

Why You Want Your Crowdfunding Campaign
Be Realistic If You Want Your Crowdfunding Campaign to Be a Hit
Like any great food dish, a successful crowdfunding campaign requires the right mix of ingredients.
And just as a chef wouldn t expect one three egg omelete to satiate an entire night s worth of
diners, a half baked crowdfunding campaign is unlikely to lead to a windfall of millions of dollars
in cash.
To start determining the right amount or a realistic amount to try to raise in a crowdfunding
campaign, an entrepreneur needs to first determine what type of crowdfunding they want to pursue.
Two of the more popular types are rewards based and equity crowdfunding, but these two styles
have significant differences.
Let s be clear... Reward and investment based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of crowdfunding are still quite new so the data is limited, but for those raising money
from ordinary investors using the $1 million cap, the average business has raised about $700,000,
according to Entrepreneur.
Prior to these allowances for equity crowdfunding, only wealthy investors were able to contribute
to these types of campaigns, which averaged a little over $400,000 per company, according to a
September 2015 article from Crowd101.
Serving a Treat with Rewards Based Crowdfunding
Rewards based crowdfunding offers an alluring alternative to equity crowdfunding because
entrepreneurs can hold onto their ownership stakes and offer contributors a reward instead. These
rewards could be anything to entice donors, such as providing the full product itself or offering a
small giveaway like a t shirt.
While this type of crowdfunding may sound sweeter, it could be more difficult to use this method
as the main source of capital.
On rewards based crowdfunding site Kickstarter, for example, the average campaign has raised a
little over $8100 dollars, and the success rate is only 36%, meaning those that don t reach their
funding goal don t receive the capital.
For those that did meet their goal, the average campaign raised just over $20,000, which is
certainly a step up but still below the levels of equity crowdfunding campaigns.

Essay on The Decline of Indentures Servitude
The decline of indentured servitude and the rise of chattel slavery were caused by economic
factors of the English settlers in the late 17th century. Colonists continually tried to allure laborers
to the colony. The head right system was to give the indentured servant a method of becoming
independent after a number of years of service. Colonists chiefly relied on Indentured Servitude,
in order to facilitate their need for labor. The decreasing population combined with a need for a
labor force, led colonists to believe that African slaves were the most efficient way to acquire a
labor force that would satisfy their needs.
Before the 1680 s, indentured servitude was the primary source of labor in the newly developed

Africans were economically better, due to British control of the slave trade making black labor
cheaper.#
In the 1600 s, tobacco became the main source of income for most of the colonists. The
economic prosperity of the colonies was primarily dependent on the amount of tobacco
produced. The growing of tobacco needed large amount of land, with a large stable work force. The
increased demand for a large, stable work force combined with the availability and low price of
African slaves, led to the use of slavery in the colonies. To the planter, slavery was the ideal form
of labor that would be most beneficial to productivity of his crop.#
The key factor to the shift to African chattel slavery was the revolt known as Bacon s Rebellion
in 1676. Bacon was an English aristocrat who just came to Virginia Due to a disagreement with
royal governor William Berkeley, he gathered support from both white and black indentured
servants and began a series of revolts against the governor and the landowners. These revolts just
added to the preference for black labor and slavery. Even though Bacon died before anything
could happen, the threat of such a biracial alliance challenging the power of the master class
prompted the colony s elite to switch to an enslaved black labor force. The demand for black
slaves rose and this caused an increase of Africans into the colonies. By the 1700 s, slavery was
deep rooted in the colonies government.#

Critical Analysis of China s Economy
Abstract
The economy of China has been on the rise at a rapid rate for more than three decades. Most of this
growth higher productivity of labor highly contributed to this economic growth. On the contrary, as
the economy widens, rate of employment diminishes along with a steady increase of the youth
population. This paper focuses on understanding the efforts that led to the growth as well as the
setbacks that China might encounter over the coming years. The challenge would be to maintain its
rapid leap of economic growth. Key questions consist ofhow China will sustain its investments;
whether these investments will lose productivity as the labor capital ratio keeps on rising, whether
employment rates will sustain urban migration. In the bottom line scenario, growth of the economy
falls steadilyat a rate of six and a half percent by the year 2030 from the current ten percent
(Chowand Kui Wai 146).
History of China s Economic Presentation
China led the global technological and fields in the industrialization era . It is believed that China s
economy made its peak in the Song Dynasty. In this era, China had the supreme technologies
(Needham and Ronan 143), the utmost rate of urbanization, the largest iron production and
ultimately the leadingstate economy globally (Carsten 146). However, between 1500 and 1800,
Western Europe took the lead from China. Some economists and historians attach China s downfall

You may visit the beach every day, or you may have never seen the beach in your life, either way
you have some level of connectivity to the sea. Regardless of your geographical location, or your

contain about ninety seven percent of the Earths water and cover two thirds of the planet. They
provide a source of food, recreation, bioengineering possibilities, and even the water we drink.

To expand on our oceans current status, large scale evaluations of marine biodiversity loss have
revealed that, Human impacts have depleted 90% of formerly important species, destroyed 65%
of sea grass and wetland habitat, degraded water quality, and accelerated species invasions.
(Lotze et al., 2006). Intentional or unintentional, it matters not, ocean exploitation and
degradation is an ongoing crisis. One solution that has been proposed to assist in averting our
oceans crises is the further implementation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). To define Marine
Protected Area, it is a discrete geographic area of the sea established by international, national,
territorial, tribal, or local laws designated to enhance the long term conservation of natural
resources therein. The term and idea has been around for a few decades and is continuously
being revised and improved as times change. To clarify the idea behind the definition, MPAs are
small ocean zones that are established with a goal of improving ocean health, increasing the
abundance of marine life, and increasing the diversity of marine life. MPAs are a sort of ocean
resource sustainability practice. The protected areas are placed into one of three major categories.
Marine reserves are fully protected ocean areas. No activities that remove flora or fauna or alter
habitats may

  • 3. Teacher And Student Behaviors In Inclusive Classrooms By... Each fall, both teachers and students look expectantly toward the new year as a time of excitement and optimism. Will I be able to help my students learn as much as they can as fast as they can? Will the teacher like me? Will my students like me? With or without research or theory, each member of the class community knows the importance of the teacher student relationship. As an administrator in an elementary school with both the highest gifted percentage in the count and a visually impaired cluster unit, it is important that I understand the scientific data surrounding forming relationships to support teacher understanding of its impact on their classroom climate and to encourage methods of class community building. The problem, therefore, is twofold what is the impact of Exceptional Student Education(ESE) students on teacher student relationships and what preconceived notions do teachers have that impact their relationships with their students. This is important to the field of education as we transition from the old model of secluding ESE students in self contained classrooms to the newer model of inclusion. As teachers better understand the research, their behaviors affecting relationship building will be of greater import and, thus, a priority. In Teacher and Student Behaviors in Inclusive Classrooms by Nevin Guner Yildiz, teacher and student behaviors were observed and recorded on a data collection form designed according to the time sampling method. ... • 4. Writing For The Instant Messaging And Text Messaging... Another reason it is essential to place an emphasis on creative writing in the classroom is because of today s rapidly developing society. As the world has become so technologically advanced, there have become more and more ways for people to use written communication to express their thoughts. Where there was once snail mail and emails, now things have become as instantaneous as a text message or Tweet. Since people seem to write with such haste and almost carelessness today, it is important for students to be provided with slower paced writingexploration in the classroom. In Writing for the Instant Messaging and Text Messaging Generation: Using New Literacies to Support Writing Instruction, Sheelah M. Sweeney states, Teachers may be concerned about the way some students write [...] imagining the potential negative impact on their students academic writing, but this interest can be an instructional advantage (Sweeney, 2010, p. 121). While naturally there may be cause for concern with the way students can erroneously communicate so quickly through the written word, the unease teachers may have will actually be a good thing for students if these educators move forward with awareness instead of ignorance. Technology is one aspect of society that will not be regressing in the future, and the best way educators can adapt to this is by incorporating these advancements into the educationof students in years to come. This article states that instead of shunning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Usually their judgments are not advantages, under uncertainty their decisions are impaired but when conditions are in certainty they can still make decisions. In reference to Somatic Marker Hypothesis, the key and important idea is decision making is influenced by marker signals. There are three routes which are related to brainand they influence cognition. These three routes are spinal cord, vagus nerve and endocrine. The article focused on the importance of vagus nerve in decision making. Vagus nerves are crucial for somatic makers in which decision making is influenced. Indirect evidence ... • 6. Periodontal Disease Brodoski 1 Laura Brodoski English 102 Ms. Vatcher, MA 1 October 2002 Why Periodontal Disease Should be a Concern to All. Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease or gingivitis. This infection is serious enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This chronic infection starts around the tooth and it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal disease can affect anywhere from one tooth to all thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts with the plaque that builds up on your teeth everyday. The plaque build up causes the gums to become red and inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the remaining plaque will also cause the gums to bleed. This stage of periodontal disease is commonly referred... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem that periodontal disease is associated with is pre term births. It is estimated that ten percent of all pre term babies have mothers with periodontal disease. It is easy to understand why prevention and healing of this disease are so important. Prevention is the key with periodontal disease. Proper brushing and flossing at least twice a day is recommended. If you like electric toothbrushes, my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like Listerine is helpful as well. If you are a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you continue to smoke. If you are pregnant, make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do the same if you have heart disease. Make an appointment every six months with your dental hygienist. Avoid sugary foods that encourage plaque growth. Suckers and hard candies are the worst because they sit in your mouth. This gives the bacteria and plaque plenty of time to grow. See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and floss twice a day. If prevention is already too later and youВЎВЇve been diagnosed with periodontal disease there are ways to encourage healing. It is important to start or maintain daily flossing and brushing. Most dentists will prescribe an antibiotic rinsing agent. You may get a referral to see a periodontist. • 7. The True Meaning Of Love In Love With My Best Friend Whenever I was a junior in high school, I fell completely in love with my best friend. I know this sounds cliche, but this experience lead to many lessons. I did not realize another human being could have such an impact on my life. Love is crazy because it is unexpected and smacks you right in the face. I did not realize this person would be my every thing for the next two years. I did not realize all the lessons I learned and growing I did. I not only learned the true meaning of heartbreak, but the true meaning of loveand life. With this experience, I reached out to see how different people cope, what I have learned, and how this shaped me into who I am. The craziest thing about love is that it is abstract. You may love an object or person, but you can not grab love. I am not going to go on about my relationship, but the after math. The intimate details do not matter to me anymore. After every thing went down, I felt broken. I felt like nothing in my life was going to be okay again. Isn t it unimaginable how something you can not even see makes you feel this way? I shut out every thing around me and pushed people away. All because one person decided to give up when I did not want to. Even after the horrible exchanges of words were tossed back and forth, I still did not want to give up. I was hoping his love would be strong enough to realize how much I cared. But it did not. It did not mean anything to that careless boy. I d rather walk barefoot across broken glass. Weeks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sinaloa cartel operates in the states of Nayarit, Sinaloa and Mexico State (Reforma 1). The Juarez cartel operates in Sinaloa, Nuevo LeГіn, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Morelos; and Quintana Roo. Mexican cartels employ individuals and groups of enforcers, known as sicarios. Statistics show that more than twenty people are killed daily in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua in crimes related to drugs. It should also investigate if the employees in the banks are corrupt or have relation with the cartels. The Mexican Government should conclude obsolete programs and devote those resources to drug cartels. The Mexican Government spends unnecessary millions of dollars paying for local police departments that do not combat the trafficking of drugs. Local authorities are afraid of confronting the drug cartels. We can just watch how they transport the drug from the Silverado to the Ram, crossing from Sinaloa to Chihuahua, We know who they are but we do not dare to oppose them, it s a death sentence (Soto). Alberto Soto stated that the local police department has been corrupted or threatened, They do not care about their jobs but they fear for their families . The actual military program must also be replaced it. The government should cancel the PGR and create a stronger fiscal judicial program that supervises the Mexican army movements toward Chihuahua and Sinaloa. Felipe Calderon has sent more than 24,000 soldiers and Federal police to nine states, included Sinaloa and Chihuahua, to combat the cartels (Medina 1). This mobilization requires a stronger supervisor instead of the PGR. There had been several army movements against drug cartels in Cd. • 9. Difference Between True Experimental And Quasi... PSY201 ~ Assignment 2: Short Answer Quiz Question 1 Explain the difference between true experimental and quasi experimental research design. Provide examples in your answer. (285 words) True experimental and quasi experimental research designs are the two most commonly used types of research design. They share some common characteristics such as measuring collected data to test the hypothesis, although, overall there are many differences between the two, especially in regards to the type of research being conducted (The Regents of the University of Michigan, 2013 ). A true experimental research design includes random selection and group assignment of participants into either experimental or control groups, manipulation of the independent variables and observation of the participants to determine if there is a statistically significant cause and effect relationship present between the variables (Follmer Greenhoot, 2003). True experimental research designs are most commonly used in experimental drug trials for new pharmaceuticals to see if they have the desired treatment outcomes. Quasi experimental research designs were once considered flawed and inferior to true experimental research designs, but they have become progressively widespread over the last three to four decades in many research fields, especially psychology and other social sciences (Coolican, 2014, p. 121). • 10. A Famous Baseball Star Named Roberto Clemente Bishop Noll Institute Roberto Clemente Tybolt Meyer Theology Hour 3 Mr. Castaneda December 5, 2016 Roberto Clemente My five page paper is on a famous baseball star named Roberto Clemente. As he was very talented, he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life. Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy. Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his father loading and unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very interested in baseball ever since he was young and played against teams in his neighborhood. (Carroll 119). Wonderland: a place where everything is different and the imagination is free to roam wild. A place where it does not matter how big a person is, but the intellect that is in a person. Existing in the dreams of children everywhere, wonderland is a place of escape, causing a person to think in new, different ways: a place like no other. Through his novel, Alice s Adventure s in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll captures and writes about a little girl s adventures through her own dreamland. Upon waking up and telling her sister ... After following a white rabbit down a dark, never ending hole, she sees a beautiful garden full of distinguished colored flowers unlike anything she has ever seen before. With the colors of her imagination, Alice longs to wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains (Carroll 19). However, upon waking up she comes back to reality with the normalcy of colors and humans. No more is she surrounded by the impossibilities of a talking chesire cat or the abnormalities of a crazed tea party in which a door mouse lives in a tea kettle. She is once again back to the reality where she must act appropriately and do schoolwork. She no longer has the ability to say whatever comes to mind and argue with whoever says something of which she disagrees. She must retain her societal role and be cautious and courteous at all times and respect her elders unlike how she disrespected the Queen of Hearts. Wonderland is a place of the imagination where anything is possible. As a person grows older he loses a part of his childhood. One of those parts included is his ability to dream and imagine enchantments such as wonderland. When Alice told her sister of her dream of wonderland, it made the sister reflect on her own imagination. She could see herself in wonderland as the whole place around her became alive with the strange creatures of her little sister s dreams (Carroll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did The Armenian Genocide Affect Society The Armenian Genocide was a planned murder of the Armenians, due to the ethnic differences between the Turks and the Armenians, which was spurred by the rising atrocities due to a suspicion that the Armenians were not faithful to the Ottoman Turks. A rising question around this research was to what extent did the Armenian Genocide affect the religious, political, economic, and social aspects of society? The Armenian Genocide resulted in discrimination against the Christian Armenians through separating the Armenians from the Ottoman Turks, granting less rights for the Armenians in fear that the Armenians would abuse their power as they were viewed as very untrustworthy, and for this reason the Armenians had less wealth and power than the Ottoman Turks. Another major reason for the genocide was the desire of the Ottomans in creating a homogenous Turkish state. I chose this topic because I am genuinely interested about how discrimination has affected populations and what effect that has had on both populations the one being discriminated and the one discriminating. The Armenian Genocide was the mass massacre of Armenians by a group of reformers that took power in 1908, known as the Young Turks (Vahagn 797). And if the women was betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die. Again, Mary knew the challenges she had to face. She had nothing but a story of an angel to give to Joseph and the towns people. The possibility of Joseph and the towns people believing that Mary, a poor servant, miraculously became pregnant by the Holy Spirit is as slim as it would be now. In fact, most would conclude that Mary was covering up an immoral relationship with Roman soldier. Yet, Mary kept the same attitude that her son had in Gethsemane when He prayed, not my will, but thine, be done. Regardless, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Between Power And Corruption Power Corrupts Absolutely Kyle Hayes 0923036 Paula Barata University Of Guelph PSYC*1000 Human history has bared witness to more tyrants than it could hope to enumerate. Whether it be despotic monarchs, autocratic dictators, or megalomaniac celebrities, countless figures in positions of power have perpetuated Lord Acton s famous axiom, Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. (Acton, 1906; Figgis Laurence, 1906). However, is Acton s aphorism scientifically valid, or is it purely anecdotal? Moreover, is it actually power that causes corruption or are the corrupt attracted to power? These are questions that the scientific community has long sought to answer. Acton s doctrine has inspired a wide array of experimental studies, most of which utilize random manipulations of power in order to analyze how it alters behaviour. The limiting factor in these procedures is the inability to control extraneous variables such as pre existing inclinations to corrupt behaviour. In order to determine causation rather than just correlation between power and corruption, researchers realized that in addition to manipulating power exogenously they needed to conduct tests that gauged inclinations to corrupt behaviour or lack there of. Many studies have also measured the hormone profiles of participants to see if these profiles had any significant impact on results. Once these base assessments were analyzed, researchers were able to recognize which participants had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot help but find it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would write so differently. Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text itself. The differences themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The first difference which is the most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet has a unique style, but generally those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a much more polished poet. Taylor s poetryis full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for a highly educated preacher which Taylor was. The economic prosperity of the colonies was primarily dependent on the amount of tobacco produced. The growing of tobacco needed large amount of land, with a large stable work force. The increased demand for a large, stable work force combined with the availability and low price of African slaves, led to the use of slavery in the colonies. • 53. Human Manipulation And Its Effects On The Health Of Our... You may visit the beach every day, or you may have never seen the beach in your life, either way you have some level of connectivity to the sea. Regardless of your geographical location, or your relationship with ocean waters, their quality directly effects the quality of your life. The oceans contain about ninety seven percent of the Earths water and cover two thirds of the planet. They provide a source of food, recreation, bioengineering possibilities, and even the water we drink. The oceans absorb about thirty percent of the carbon dioxide we create and they produce around seventy percent of the oxygen we breath. Needless to say, life on Earth depends on the health of our oceans. One could argue that ocean health has been degrading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To expand on our oceans current status, large scale evaluations of marine biodiversity loss have revealed that, Human impacts have depleted 90% of formerly important species, destroyed 65% of sea grass and wetland habitat, degraded water quality, and accelerated species invasions. (Lotze et al., 2006). Intentional or unintentional, it matters not, ocean exploitation and degradation is an ongoing crisis. One solution that has been proposed to assist in averting our oceans crises is the further implementation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). To define Marine Protected Area, it is a discrete geographic area of the sea established by international, national, territorial, tribal, or local laws designated to enhance the long term conservation of natural resources therein. The term and idea has been around for a few decades and is continuously being revised and improved as times change. To clarify the idea behind the definition, MPAs are small ocean zones that are established with a goal of improving ocean health, increasing the abundance of marine life, and increasing the diversity of marine life. MPAs are a sort of ocean resource sustainability practice. The protected areas are placed into one of three major categories. Marine reserves are fully protected ocean areas.
