HARRISON BERGERON REVIEW The book and the movie were very impressive and
somehow boring. i think if I would wanted to be someone charters in this story it would Harrison
Bergeron because it reminds me to not forget reason why I wouldn t like everyone to be same.
Harrison Bergeron were smarter than other humans and it were not right because someone would
feel miserable for not get the same rights as richness and gold but as same time it would stop all
wars because then no one would have a reason to start war. Government were hating on smart
peoples so government made some laws to make limits for the peoples. No one is better than
anyone. The laws didn t touch the peoples who worked for the government and it weren t

Comparing Survival In Life Of Pi And The Lone Survivor
Survival can be summed up in these three words never give up. That s the heart of it really. Just
keep trying. In both the article, The Lone Survivor, and the novel, Life of Pi, the characters face
many challenges in order to survive. The quote relates to these characters due to the fact that they
never give up. In an extreme environment their perseverance and determination inspires their will
to survive. In both passages the characters perseverance and determination inspires their will to
survive. In The Lone Survivor it shows the determination by Luttrell by saying, Luttrell, the lone
survivor, suffered several fractures, shrapnel wounds, a broken back and a gunshot wound... With
an unbelievable will to survive, he defied all odds and evaded near certain death. Here it represents
the terrifying circumstances he went through and his determination to get through this using his
will to survive. Meanwhile Pi can also be described as having determination, for example in the text

In The Lone Survivor it says, Luttrell also received some unexpected, and vital, help from local
villagers who actively hid him from the Taliban... They ll sacrifice the whole village for just one
man. Here is it shows the support Luttrell received to keep him alive during the dangerous times
he encountered. Unlike Luttrell Pi, is alone as it states, I was alone and orphaned, in the middle
of the Pacific , hanging on to an oar, an adult in front of me, sharks beneath me, a storm raging
about me. In this part of the text it represents how Pi was alone in his extreme environment, so he
had to survive without support by using anything he can find or create. Luttrell and Pi are both
able to survive in treacherous areas, but they do it in different ways because one is alone and the
other with support. To sum up Pi and Luttrell may have similarities, but they also have several

Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston
Throughout many years in the early 19th century, people were forced to work in very poor
environments. From working for long hours on fields and plantations, they did not have an
opportunity to have a free and self fulfilling life. Their lives were very similar to that of a mule
where they had to perform very tiring and hard jobs for most of the day. In many instances, people
lived their whole life working towards freeing themselves from the workbut were never able to
accomplish their goal. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston
, the mule is used
as a symbol of the way Janie is treated in each of her relationships except when she is with
Teacake, demonstrating that it is more worthy to work like a mule with a lover than live a
leisurely life without one. When Nannie sees Janie kissing Johnny Taylor, she immediately
breaks them up because she is trying to save Janie from making a bad decision. She says, Janie,
youse uh oman, now, so... yeah, Janie, youse got yo womanhood on yuh... Ah wants to see you
married right away (12). Since Janie still has her womanhood, Nannie wants Janie to be married
so her womanhood is not stripped away from her. Janie s grandmother was raped around the age
that Janie is right now and she does not want Janie to have the same fate. Nannie thinks that by
marrying Janie off at a young age it will not only protect her from other men, but it will also allow
her to live a hopeful and prosperous life. After an argument between Janie and

Themes In The Alchemist
Always Be You
Have you ever just been yourself and done something nice and felt better? You might not know
the joy you caused, but lots of people do nice things for example helping an old lady cross the
street. You may not know it, but you probably made that person s day by just being yourself and
lending a helping hand. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, When we
strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. On his journey,
Santiago encounters a king and learns some important lessons. Second, Santiago works at a
crystal shop to earn money and helps the shopkeeper make money. Finally, Santiago learns about
courage from the Alchemist. First, Santiago meets with a king and watches as a butterfly flutters
around. For example, when Santiago is meeting with an old man that once was a king he spots
something. He remembered that his grandfother once told him that the butterfly flying around
them was a good omen (32). Santiago is sees a butterfly flapping it s wings and he remembers
that his grandfather told him about it and how it would make people feel good about themselves.
Santiago offers a trade to the man. He trades his sheep and in return, the man helps him begin his
journey. He thinks that this deal will make the old king feel good about himself just like the
butterfly made him feel. Finally, this is important because Santiago is pursuing his dreams and
traveling and as a result, he hopes to have made the old

Advantages Of Gender Neutral Bathrooms
Introduction: Arguments refer to exchange of different viewpoints on any topic. Rational argument
is based on sound reasoning and logic and not just meant for convincing others but providing
evidence for the argument. Most arguments are based on rationality where logic and evidence is
combined support the argument.
Definition of terms: Rational comes from the Latin word rationalis, meaning reasonable or logical.
If you re rational, you do things based on logic, as opposed to impulse or whimsy (http:/
/www.vocabulary.com/dictionary). The question is is it advisable to have genderneutral
bathrooms? Most schools have segregated washrooms, i.e. separate washrooms for boys and
girls. However, I feel that in modern times, it need not be so. Single user bathrooms are meant for
use by one person at a time and multi user bathrooms have stalls that can be used by several
people at one time. Gender neutral bathrooms can be used by anyone. Perhaps gender inclusive
would be a better word to use.
Reasoning used: In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For them, gender neutral washrooms would mean less harassment and discrimination. It can relieve
anxiety and prevent bullying. Young children are capable of identifying their gender and need to
feel comfortable in the school environment. Separate bathrooms for transgender students would
highlight them, increase social bias and make them vulnerable to ridicule and violence.
Bathrooms meant for all genders would help in more equality between the sexes as it would
force boys to accept that girls also use bathrooms and girls would have less fear of boys. Single
user unisex bathrooms are acceptable to many students as it ensures a degree of privacy. Multi
user stalls are also used in several schools. Students main purpose in coming to school is acquiring
education. There should be no discomfort due to use of

Recipe For Remembrance
The ancient people of Greek mythology believed there was a recipe for a mortal man to claim
immortality, and have a name that echoes throughout the ages. The ingredients can be found
between the two very popular mythical figures of ancient Greece, Odysseus from Homer s The
Odyssey and Achilles from his other timeless story, The Iliad. This document will relay the
commonalities shared through tragedy, and revenge, along with the contrasting characteristics of
personality, methodology in combat and, endured hardships. Through the combination of their
trials, experiences, and personal attributes, we will not only be able to identify them thoroughly ...

Finally Odysseus makes his men evacuate, and they make it to the land of the Cyclopes. Once
they re on the mainland they search for food, and explore. Soon they come across an empty cave
that is full food, and animals. His men try to make haste, but due to Odysseus s taking too long,
Polyphemus the Cyclopes, son of Poseidon appears. At first the one eyed giant appears to be
hospitable, and offers food and tells them to relax. Then he becomes hostile, and adds to the
tragedy of Odysseus crew by killing two of Odysseus men, and imprisons Odysseus along with
the rest. Odysseus wants to kill Polyphemus right then, but he knows that only Polyphemus is
strong enough to move the rock that he has placed across the door of his cave. Odysseus then
decides to devise and execute a plan. The next day, Odysseus gets him drunk on wine that he
brought along from the ship. Feeling under the influence, Polyphemus asks Odysseus his name;
Odysseus replies that his name is Nobody , As soon as Polyphemus collapses with intoxication,
Odysseus and a select group of his men drive the red hot staff into his eye. Polyphemus wakes
with a shriek, and his neighbors come to see what is wrong, but they leave as soon as he calls out,
Nobody s killing me (Via class discussion). Through the combination of their trials, experiences, and
personal attributes, we can not only identify these hero s thoroughly as men worthy of

Vengeance In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
During the Elizabethan period, revenge tragedies were the leading form of drama commonly
utilized by Shakespeare, despite the morals of the time renouncing it in essence. Because of the
nature of revenge, it is often said that before embarking on this journey it is best to dig two
graves; in Titus Andronicus, widely considered the bloodiest of Shakespeare s revenge tragedies,
this adage connects perfectly with the theme of the plots. Shakespeare unfolds a series of revenge
that the play reads like a horror film in many ways with overtly gratuitous violence plaguing almost
every scene. Involves violence against each character in the play, Shakespeare communicating his
own beliefs about seeking vengeance. Through various literary techniques,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scaffolds
As previously defined, a composite material consists of two or more materials where polymers are
used as matrix materials usually. These materials behave together to produce the best properties of
the scaffold, duplicating the same composite features of bone. In particular, polymer based
composite scaffolds may mimic the structure of natural bonewhich is mainly made of HA and
collagen. Showing better osteoconductivity, HA can be considered the inorganic reinforcing phase
of the composite scaffold, while polymers such as PCL, PLLA, PGA, PLGA function as the
organic matrix. Bioactive phases creating reinforcement in the polymerbased composite can also
change the degradation behavior. Composite scaffolds made of polymer reinforced with HA seem
to be promising substrates for bone tissue engineering because of their outstanding mechanical
properties and osteoconductivity.

The integration of biodegradable PLA fibers into the PCL matrix allows a mechanical response
that is ideal to maintain the spaces required for cellular in growth and matrix production. The
addition of bioactive пѓЎ TCP particles, through a hardening reaction, generates needle like crystals
of calcium deficient hydroxyapatite similar to natural bone apatite, which interact with the fiber
reinforced polymer. This interaction strongly enhances the mechanical response in compression by

Financial Disclosure Of A Company
In any business operations, full financial disclosure refers to the provision of the necessary
information about a company for better decision making by the people accustomed. It is the
financial revelation of a given company. There are some financial disclosures in any business that
ensure proper understanding of financial statementsto the financial readers, or potential auditors.
Examples are the annual financial reports and the financial declarations of the company. The annual
financial reports of the enterprise are very useful since they discloses the revenues recognized in the
business, and the accountability of the inventories plus the income taxes accounted for during that
period of operation. Second, is the disclosure of this financial statements which gives the actual

The Case Of Wal Mart
When we hear someone say they need to go to the grocery store, what is the first place that
comes to mind? For most of us, it is Wal Mart. From its market end, to its home and beauty
supply, all the way to its lawn and garden department, Wal Mart has been ordained one of the
most profitable companies in the entire world. But it did not start out that way. With a dream,
determination, leadership, and some sweat, Sam Walton, made a small mom and pop store into
the multibillion dollar company it is today. On March 29, 1918, Samuel Moore Walton was born
to Thomas and Nancy Walton of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. As a young boy Walton and his family

up, Walton excelled at school, making the top grades of his class. He was also known for his
athletic ability, and in high school was the quarterback for his high school football team
(biography.com). When Walton graduated high school in 1936, he was voted most versatile boy
(biography.com). Little did anyone know that that most versatile boy was going to achieve great
success in just a few short years. After graduating high school, Sam decided to further his education
and attended the University of Missouri. He graduated in 1940 with his degree in economics.
Shortly after graduation, Walton joined the army at the mere age of 24. He served until 1945 as

Freedom Is Overrated
Aidan Erbter

Advanced Placement Language and Composition

Freedom is overrated
Imagine a world where laws and rules were never in place. Citizens would run rampant and people
would commit crimes without any consequence for their actions. Now imagine a world where
freedom was non existent. Everyone s actions and behaviors would coincide with one another, as if
they were robots. Straying from the extremes, H. L. Mencken an American writer wrote that the
average man would rather be safe than free. To completely understand his statement, you must
look at a specific word. The average man. H. L. Mencken is right because people would rather
have laws to protect themselves, people want to live comfortable lives, and the people who diverge
from what society tends to do are more than the average person.
In America, and a large majority of countries, you are born with a little bit of freedom. Freedom
is offered in schools and homes. Once people grow up, and earn their freedom, they are allowed
to roam the streets and say what they want to say and do what they want to do. But with
freedom, there must be laws. Laws prevent people from stepping across the line and hurting
others. These laws aren t to make our government appear more superior than its citizens, but to
provide protection and safety for its people. With this safety, people sacrifice some of their
freedom. People still retain a large amount of freedom, but some must be given over for the sake of

Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States
Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a
disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to
STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage,
this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two
thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per
hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with
minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person
is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour
would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage
gap.
Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers.
The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers
$2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped
workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than
half of the tipped workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers,
and 46 percent rely on government assistance to make ends meet.
As women account for two thirds of tipped workers, raising tipped minimum wage will help
decreasing the

Emerson Thematic Statement
Write a thematic statement for the essay Self Reliance . Explain how Emerson s idea of Self
Reliance is different from and similar to the common use of the term (take care of your own
needs and don t depend on others outside yourself). The essay Self Reliance is different from the
definition of only thinking of one s own needs in the sense that Emerson explains that one
should not only depend on themselves but to also not submit to the majority of ideas in society
and obey by one s own beliefs. Emerson relates being independent or Self Reliant to the genuine
feelings of an individual and how it should be taken pride of rather than pushed away by the
conformities of society. Give 5 examples of figurative language and analyze how Emerson uses
them to convey his message of self reliance (Hint: your analysis should link back to the purpose
you mention in the thematic statement above). 1 Joint Stock Company: The meaning of this word
is a company owned by multiple shareholders, but Emerson uses it in the sense of America being
bound together through majority belief systems, but individual ideas should be recognized as
well. 2 Sculpture: A sculpture is described as a carving of a 3D object, Emerson uses it as a term
for explaining the memories that make a significant deal in society and being significant
individually 3 Befriends: Acting like a friend, helping someone out, used by Emerson, he explains
that befriending represents the good that is brought into the world

leadership style is where a leader has complete control and power over their team. They

need to be achieved, and directs all activities to be done by the team. An authoritarian is usually

The Similarities Between Walden And 42
Jackie Robinson was the first ever African American to ever play in Major League Baseball. This
caused a major change in Major League Baseball history because he was the first one to play in a
all white league. He had to deal with a lot of people being mean to him and trying to hurt him
and also trying to get him to lash out at people so that he could get kicked out of the MLB. This
theme can be seen in the work of Henry David Thoreau. An example of this theme can be seen in
the movie 42. Walden by Henry David Thoreau, and 42 by Brian Helgeland show that hard work
and dedication leads to success in life. This theme is supported by tone, self reliance, and characters

Basic Chiropractic Advertising Strategy Essay
Basic Chiropractic Advertising Strategy
Every growing practice needs a steady stream of leads and new patients that not only generate
revenue, but help advance your practice through word of mouth. It is essential to clearly define
your practice on all advertising materials and during consultations to help build your brand and lend
credibility to your practice.
Many chiropractors make the mistake of trying to be everything to everyone. Doing so can lead to
confusion between you and your clients and less effective treatment programs. You will find that
focusing your practice on a few specific treatments will lead to higher response rates in advertising,
more streamlined office operations, a better sense of the demographics in your area, and ... Show

By trying to appeal to everyone all at once, you lose the ability to grab someone s attention and
conquer their anxiety and concerns about chiropractic. Maximize the potential of each
advertisement by eliminating the unnecessary information and appealing as strongly as possible to
your target audience.
Over time, you can create a newspaper insert campaign for each type of symptom and slowly
build your client list the right way. In doing so your response rates will increase and you will soon
know exactly which treatments are the most lucrative in your area. This is key for future success
and can quickly put you in at an advantage over your competitors.
Do some research on chiropractic advertising to gather ideas and topics for your own marketing
materials. You can even use a competitor s flyers or promotions to help you learn about your area.
What are they marketing? What is their target audience?
A great way to start your chiropractic advertising is to design, print, and deliver full color flyers
through the newspaper. For as little as $0.10 per home you can create and distribute full color
glossy flyers. There are even companies that offer free chiropractic flyer samples when you register

Decomposition Of Salmon Essay
Decomposition of Salmon
The decomposition of salmon and other waste products from salmon farming have a wide array of
environmental impacts. The effects on the environment are seen through nitrogen and oxygen
depletion in the vicinity, remineralization, fish waste, and other waste materials known to thrust the
salmon environment into a zone of stress.
Nitrogen Oxygen Depletion
The largest impact that decomposition has on natural world in the vicinity of salmon farms is
nitrogen and oxygen depletion. Studies have shown that the decomposition of salmon in fish
farming strategies contributes to the loss of nitrogen and oxygen in the surrounding areas (Brickell
Goering, 1997). This can be attributed to the chemical process a salmon carcass ... Show more

Overabundance of these chemicals is toxic to fish and can cause fish kills (Genoil, 2012). Fish
carcass remineralization can ultimately block sunlight and choke plants causing the ecosystem to
collapse into a deadzone (Genoil, 2012). Farmed fish mortality can reach 30% in shallow waters
(Genoil, 2012). Salmon farms increase organic matter mineralization (Heilskov Holmer, 2001).
This is caused by enhanced microbial activities because of the presence of organic rich faecal
pellets (Heilskov Holmer, 2001). The microbial organisms are more active in the fish farms because
the stagnant waters allow certain bacteria from salmon faecal pellets to accumulate and provide the
microbes with a near optimal environment to produce the inorganic substances that are byproducts
of remineralization. The salmon also catalyzed this process by direct ingestion of detritus (Heilskov
Holmer, 2001). Through the direct ingestion of these decomposers, the salmon undergo a biotic
decomposition where the carcasses are broken down into simpler, organic matter that undergo
remineralization more

Southern Colonies Research Paper
One of the many beauties of the United States, is its vast history of diversity. Diversity is what built
the country. As the early settlers traveled to the New World and began to build colonies, three
distinct regions developed and took shape. The three regions were the New England/northern
colonies, the middle colonies, and the southern colonies. Each of these districts had differences in
religion/culture, government, and economy. These diverse traits built the core of each colony and
directed the growth of each and why they developed in the way they did. Religion and culture

Because fur, lumber and fish were all in demand in England, they became the primary focus of the

soil and were able to produce food in many forms to export throughout the world. Among the crops
they grew, wheat (milled into four), made up nearly three fourths of the goods exported. Obviously,
the southern colonies looked to their plantations to produce tobacco as their main source of income.

colonies. However, they were predominately in the southern

Introducing Lean Concepts in a Manufacturing Company
Your organization, a company that manufactures automobile brake pads, is about to introduce
lean concepts into its operations in order to be more competitive with foreign manufacturers.
The lean project manager does not understand why you, the safety manager, want to be a part of
the process. Provide a convincing argument about what you can contribute if you are included.
Lean manufacturing is based upon the philosophy that zero waste is a legitimate goal for an
organization. Lean manufacturing is based on finding efficiencies and removing wasteful steps
that don t add value to the end product (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). Defects are bad
for customers in the sense that customers receive an unwanted, defective product but also bad for
businesses that must eat the cost of the defective product, as well as suffer a blow to their
reputations. This is particularly true for a safety related item such as a brake pad. Waste in terms
of unneeded expenditures will make the product more expensive, taking away value from the
company in terms of profits and also making consumers less likely to buy a costly item. Waste can
occur in a number of areas, including overproduction; delays; inventory buildups; over processing;
inefficiencies in the human aspects of in manufacturing; product defects; and inefficient allocations
of labor (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). A sales manager such as myself can play a
critical role in identifying waste. First and foremost, I am

Daniel Ellsberg s Involvement In Vietnam
Born in Chicago on April 7, 1931, Daniel Ellsberg helped secure open resistance to the Vietnam
War in 1971 by releasing covert reports known as the Pentagon Papers to the New York Times

had deceived the public regarding their involvement in Vietnam. On June 1967, officials in the
U.S. military headquarters were ordered to collect a history of U.S. strategy toward Vietnam by
Robert McNamara, the secretary of defense. Daniel Ellsberg, was an officer hired to work on the

An Example Of Western Culture In The Baroque Period In Italy
A perfect example of western art that depicts the drama and theatre during the periodization of 17th
century Italian Baroque, is the piece titled Susanna and the Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi. In this
painting, there is a woman taking a bath, however, behind her are two men who appear to be
causing trouble. The biblical story has it that while Susanna was bathing, two judges cornered her
offered her a bargain. The malicious men said that either she was to sleep with them, or they would
tell the people that she had been seen with another man as a threat. Rather than being stoned,
Susanna was preserved and the two men were punished for their actions. The Baroqueperiod in Italy
had many key historical events and heavily influenced the visual culture. Italian culture during the
Baroque period was significant because it had many key kinds of art, monuments and other
visuals that represented this time period. During the 17th century, the Baroque consisted of a
strong annunciation surrounding drama, theatre, and reformation. Figures were often displayed
as if they were at a performance. Each painting was detailed and depicted a dramatic scene that
told an elaborate story. It was common for a woman to be portrayed naked and freely as this was
something that occurred often. This era also included an abundance of lights and darks that were
juxtaposed to evoke feelings from the audience. Non western art was equally as exceptional as
each countries art had a significant way of incorporating their culture into each piece. Li K an s
14th century ink on paper painting titled Bamboo displays the beauty within a single form of art,
ink. Although simplistic, the ink has been manipulated into fine lines that show the foliage of the
leaves on the background. This intricate calligraphy work enhances the piece and allows the
artwork to reflect peace and delicacy. Unlike work from the 17th century Italian Baroque, the
Chinese culture does not depict naked women but rather aims towards the ideals of nature.
In China, the artwork was important as it enhanced the key events that were occurring during this
time period in Chinese culture. As control was being taken from the Ming emperors due to the
government growing corrupt,

Foster Care Ethics
Hennessy Garcia Humans naturally form their own institutions such as a family, system of
government, business, etc.... Institutions/groups are deceiving and get away with a lot. For
instance, cigarette companies advertise a product that can cause cancer. However, it seems that
no one blames the company for selling it. They will blame the individual for smoking it. It is
easier to blame the individual for making terrible choices, but it is ignorant to solely believe that
individual is at fault for their personal choices. Even when it comes to morality, people tend to
blame individuals for having flawed morals, but groups can influence immoral actions. For
example, when someone commits murder or steals it s simple to conclude that they are morally...

Groups homes should be more overlooked. A group home should ensure the safety of all
members. Clearly, the head of the group home wasn t doing his/her job, which is why Randy
got beaten up and nobody didn t do anything to stop it. Another problem with the foster care
system is the waiting game to be adopted. The foster care process should look into other
members of a child s family, so that way they don t end up with random people who may or may
not offer permanent care. The foster care system in general puts kids like Randy in a constant
cycle of waiting. Waiting for someone who cares enough to display love and offer a security.
Based on Ms. Anna s hospitalization, we see that Randy was quickly out of Anna s care and
taken straight into a group home. This isn t fair to Randy because jumping from someone s care
to another shows how Randy doesn t have anyone that truly cares for him. If he had a permanent
parental figure in his life, he may be loved and his safety would be ensured. Carver offered to
care for him and the foster care system denied him. The foster care system failed Randy by not
providing him the security, love and the proper care he needs. This affects Randy immensely
because, in season five episode six, he is seen pushing a kid down in the group home for being in
his way. He was basically chewed by the system and his sensitive nature seems to be

How Does Female Divine Power Affect Society
Journal Entry 2/13
Christ s theory was re imagining divine power as Goddess and if this has important
psychological and political consequences for men and women. She basically is trying to re
imagine our society today with a female divine God, and she examines how that change would
effect our society. She says this female power would actually validate female power seen in our
society today. Although there would be a lot of hesitation from that actual transition from male to
female divine power. This is not only a challenge to change the gender of divine power, but this is
challenging the structure of our society. This is most likely what would cause the hesitation,
people like to feel safe, and comfortable and that usually doesn t come along with change. She did
stress that it s not replacing the male God with a Female, its about balancing the two. Do you think
the gender of a divine power matters? How do you think a gender neutral God would affect society?

Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language
Background to the study
CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child
language interaction during the first three years (Hart
Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating
interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child.
Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s
need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray
Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with
stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie,
1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the
quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984).
Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child
creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady,
Warren Sterling,
2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur,
Flynn Eichorst, 2005). A large UK cohort study examined maternal responses rated at
12 months during an observed motherinfant interaction and found that positive maternal responses
and infant development were associated at 18 months (Pearson et al.,

Tevye s Fiddler On The Roof
The definition of a fiddler is as follows: a person who plays the violin, especially one who plays
folk music. However, in the play Fiddler on the Roof , the word fiddler has so much more
meaning. It means tradition, balance, and it is also a representation of the people of Anatevka.
The fiddler in the play shows up fairly often. And every time it adds meaning to the play. At the
very beginning, Tevye tells us that the fiddler is a representation of the people of Anatevka: But
in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to
scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2) And it is completely true.
Throughout the book it is evident that Tevye especially struggles to keep his balance while he tries

Speaking of balance, that s the other thing that the fiddler represents. When Tevye comes back
from the bar, and after speaking to the constable (Pg. 54), the fiddler comes into the scene and
...he circles Tevye, and they dance off together. (Pg. 54). In the book, that s all it says. However,
in the movie you can see the fiddler beckoning Tevye and they begin to dance off together, but
the music slowly begins to spin out of control as the fiddler dances off the stage with Tevye and
the next scene begins. This indicates that the story is going to spin out of control. So that is how
the fiddler represents balance, because the music spinning out of control represents them losing
balance. The music that the fiddler plays represents their balance. Which ties into the first quote I
mentioned, where Tevye explains that each person in Anatevka is a fiddler on the roof trying to
scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2.) So, what the music sounds
like is how balanced they are. If they are beginning to fall off the roof, the music gets more intense
because the fiddler is

took place to cause the conflict between Palestine and Israel, such as, the history, where the conflict

the first. The conflict has been happening for years now with Israel and Palestine fighting over
the region of Gaza. The conflict began with a debate over Palestine and Israel disagreeing over
which country gets control over what part of the land. The primary approach was to give Palestine
the control of the state of Gaza and the West Bank, and leaving the rest of the land to Israel. This
plan they came up with was called the two state solution which was supposed to help reduce less
conflict. Israel and Palestine could have replaced the two state solution with the one state solution

(Angelica E. Delaney 2014,p.8). This leads to gender roles. Cleopatra is from an ascribed status.
An ascribed status is when an individual is born with social advantages or disadvantages that
will influence them throughout their life. As it is mentioned previously, Cleopatra was viewed
as a God since she was born. She kept the same status and became the queen of Egypt. In the
movie, Cleopatra seems to make all the decision by her without taking anyone s consent. As for
historically, Cleopatra was also talking her decisions on her own but probably needed some
point of view of other people in different expertise. The message projected behind this movie is
that even though Cleopatra was a young woman who was controlling the Egyptian Empire, she
was still able to defeat Caesar even if she has many obstacles. She was a woman who was
breaking the entire norms and boundaries of this era and was encouraging feminism. As it was
shown in the movie, women always surrounded Cleopatra. They were at her service but she never
treated her as her maids but instead treated them like her friends. They were doing all their activities
together. Angelica E. Delaney mentioned, The endgame was to speak to the

Zajacn
The Tailor of Inverness is, touching, and an example of what theatre can be: an outburst of
discoveries. A son,Matthew Zajacn, Unravels his father s experiences during the second world war.
The high quality of Matthew Zajacn actually performing his own work and story makes it
personal. It was true, it happened and the illustrated storytelling made me embrace theatre for what
it can do. The show was a universal idea of how your past can be miscommunicated or untold.
We are taken on a journey of the non straightforward story, the happenings of how he came to be a
tailor in Inverness. Taken jailbird by the Soviets in 1939 and made to work east of the Urals, then
Germany, Tehran, then Egypt, to integrated into the British Army, fighting in North... Show more

The change of costume allowed everything to make sense. The embodiment of his father s
mannerisms was clear and nicely portrayed. The tense atmosphere was dimmed by down with the
use of a violin player in the background: this added to the actors energy and emotions and made the
story more interesting, history can be uninteresting, but this made listening to facts easily. The
Tailor of Inverness has a share of modern relevance, like how people have so many mixtures and
differences in their family trees and that sometimes is not taken into account today. How it allows
us to reflect on what has changed and why it changed. How we have to be specific about where we
come from but sometimes it s way more complicated than what most people think.
The Backdrop design showed the idea of the dead and the people who were lost in the war and the
lonesome but distinctive blue dress that hung as a symbol of his loss and memory of his unknown
sister. Some moments were Hard to understand, but maybe that was affected by the complicated
family story and the various places and occurring at that time that made it seem that

Thomas Trial
The Trial: Government Officials When it comes to trials, the government or the state are
influential and necessary parts of a trial within Scotland. There are greatly diverse laws within
England and Scotland, which needed to be obeyed by all. They required a person of law, such as a
judge, which the majority of witchcrafttrials were not. Witchcraft within the country of Scotland
was seen as committing a crime against the law of Scotland as well as God. Therefore, the
prosecution was seen as justifiable according to both religion and the government. When it comes
to Thomas and Jane s trial, the government would be a major contributing factor because they are in
charge of the courts along with the Church of Scotland. Provost of Edinburgh,... Show more content

Men were less likely to be executed while women s likelihood increased. When it comes to the
witch trials, men are seen as backseat threats, unlike their female counterpart. Elite men in the
localities might thus have been spurred into witch hunting by perceiving themselves and their
property as under threat. Men during the time of the Weir Trials mainly focused on Thomas Weir
and his major convictions in 1670. Men throughout the documentations of the trials were
portrayed more as priests, judges, officers, witnesses, and clergymen. While discussing the crimes
of Thomas Weir, the main judge brought in witnesses (such as John Oliphant, William Johnstone,
Archibald Hamilton, and Alexander Pitcairn) who ended up witnessing the numerous crimes of
Thomas Weir. When it came to Thomas Weir, there was mainly a feeling of negativity since, he
was no longer able to endure the remorse of his awakened conscience; which he first of all
among those of his own party and desired them to bring him to public justice to expiate for his
abominable crimes. There tends to be so much more controversy when it comes to men being
accused of crimes and witchcraft compared to women who are more commonly accused so that it
did not seem as much of a substantial

Stock Options For Employees As A Form Of Compensation Or...
Stock options are granted to employees as a form of compensation or incentives. Both public
and private companies follow this practice. The options give the executives the right but not the
obligation to buy the company s shares at a fixed price before the expiration date is reached. If
the company does well, its shares prices rise. But the employee can buy the shares at a lower
price fixed at the beginning. This will give the employee instant profit. Knowing that he/she will
make a profit when the company s share prices go up, the employee is motivated to work hard for
the company to grow. This is why employee stockoptions is such a popular method of
compensation among many companies. However according to Hall, critics state that the stock
options only motivate the employee to work harder for the immediate boost of the company s
sales so as to increase their own profits and that the employee has no real interest in the actual
long term benefit of the company. It ends up in a win win situation between the company and its
employees. He cannot sell the options, he cannot pledge them as a collateral for a loan. Stock
options is a contract that the employee / executive has with the company whereby he/she has the
right to buy a specific amount of stock within a specific period of time. Generally the maximum
period is 10 years. The employee has to be in good standing with the company and has to perform
well. The options are vested in him and he has the right to

Essay about Mac vs Pc
Mac vs. PC: The Everlasting Debate
In the world of computers, the choice of systems can be a complicated one. There are two
competitors out there, PCs and Macs. Everyone has their own opinion on which is better, and
there are many die hard fans in each camp. The truth is, PC s are far more popular, and for good
reasons, yet the Mac system is actually the more durable and useful of the two. Firstly we will
consider software availability. The majority of computer users own PC s, both for work and
recreational use. Therefore, software companies find that it is far more profitable to develop
software that is for use on a PC instead of a Mac. There is such a variety of software written for PC
s that is unavailable for Macs that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, however, Windows XP has greatly reduced the gap between the two systems. The main
problem with the Mac OS is the fact that applications could be in any of several places, such as
the Dock, the Desktop, or the Applications folder. With Windows XP, all applications can be
accessed from the Start menu, as well as in other ways (Kaufman, 2003). Another area that Macs
are ahead of PC s in is stability. The Mac OS is built on the UNIX operating system, which is by
far more stable that PC s own foundations. This results in fewer crashes with the system. The Mac
systems are also more stable because Apple controls everything that is plugged into the system,
and each system is complete straight out of the box. With PCs, there are more peripherals to
plug in, and a wide variety of different add ons available, increasing the likelihood of device
conflicts (Kaufman, 2003). The people who create Macs have managed to get very far ahead of
those who create PC s in design points. The Mac has been detailed to perfection, and looks sleek
and simple. The PC, on the other hand, is basically a bunch of boxes and things stuck together, far
clunkier, and less appealing visually. The iMacis a very compact machine, and it doesn t have
random buttons and things distracting from its design. The desktop PC, however, is large and
clutters up any space without looking anywhere near as simply elegant as the Mac (Kaufman,
2003)(Apple, 2006). Although

Arts Integration Essay
After carefully evaluating three possible solutions that were presented in the previous section on
implementing arts integration into the classroom, this paper will recommend the solution to be,
hiring an art teacher. As stated before, hiring additional teachers, for most student tends to be very
helpful. It can relieve stress and any additional preparation that comes with integrating the arts. This
recommendation could help teachers divide their work with the hired art teacher.
Limitations of Analysis
There are two significant limitations within the research that are important to address. While doing
research on arts integration, the amount of empirical evidence was lacking in regard to hiring an art
teacher. There have not been enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both of the other options offer great strengths, hiring a professional art teacher overall offers
the most effectiveness. The effectiveness is greater weighted than the cost because, the cost can
depend on the experience of the teacher, so the amount can only be an estimate. Many schools
nationwide are currently using this option to effectively integrate the arts into the classroom. Just
recently an art teacher was hired to travel around the country, providing her knowledge to help
classrooms with important art lessons dealing with common core subjects, such as reading,
mathematics, history and science. Like stated in the evaluation of options section hiring an outside
teacher can increase student engagement in school and improves their academic success. The
effectiveness of hiring an art teacher is an easily obtainable goal making this a reasonable option.
Many students have claimed if they find success in common areas in school they find themselves
thriving in an arts integration program. Arts integration promotes collaboration between teachers
and students, which is important to help build a healthy relationship.
Consequences and Implications
Even though hiring an art teacher is the most reasonable option, there are a few potential
consequences that might result from my recommendation. One possible consequence is the effects
of hiring one teacher. Depending on the number of teachers hired can determine the amount of work

Psychedelia
Psychedelia is defined as music that is based on the experience that is produced by psychedelic
drugs. It started in the 1960 s in the United States. The main drug was LSD and it was said to
enhance the music. One of the major promotors of the drug was Timothy Leary. He was a
professor at Harvard. He was so famous for this that there was even a song about him. This time
in music was one of the most changing for the future of music in history. There were many
different things that changed in many of the way songs were created. One of the most noticeable
songs like this is a Beach Boys song. Good Vibrations was created by the genius mind of Brain
Wilson. The song was supposed to be on the album Pet Sounds. Wilson wanted the song to be
perfect so it did not make it on the album. So perfect in fact that they recorded the song for seven
months and at the time it cost almost $400,000. It was the record at the time for most money spent
on a single. The song was made with very different sounds that had never been used in music
before. The other thing that is so different from any other song is that there are three parts of the

One of the most famous of these was the Monterey International Pop Music Festival in 1967. It was
held in California. Both the Beatles and the Beach Boys were supposed to appear but both of them
cancelled. Jimi Hendrix was one of the artists that were there. This helped him become an
American star because after he performed he sprayed his guitar in lighter fluid and caught it on
fire. It was all caught on film and is a documentary. Another one of these is the famous
Woodstock in 1969. It was held in New York on a dairy farm. It rained for three days straight
leading up and during the festival. There were over 400,000 people there. There were even two
fatalities that they overdosed on heroin. It was also recorded and turned into a

In both the article, The Lone Survivor, and the novel, Life of Pi, the characters face many challenges in order to survive. The quote relates to these characters due to the fact that they never give up. In an extreme environment their perseverance and determination inspires their will to survive. In both passages the characters perseverance and determination inspires their will to survive. In The Lone Survivor it shows the determination by Luttrell by saying, Luttrell, the lone survivor, suffered several fractures, shrapnel wounds, a broken back and a gunshot wound... From working for long hours on fields and plantations, they did not have an opportunity to have a free and self fulfilling life. Their lives were very similar to that of a mule where they had to perform very tiring and hard jobs for most of the day. In many instances, people lived their whole life working towards freeing themselves from the workbut were never able to accomplish their goal. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston , the mule is used as a symbol of the way Janie is treated in each of her relationships except when she is with Teacake, demonstrating that it is more worthy to work like a mule with a lover than live a leisurely life without one. When Nannie sees Janie kissing Johnny Taylor, she immediately breaks them up because she is trying to save Janie from making a bad decision. She says, Janie, youse uh oman, now, so... yeah, Janie, youse got yo womanhood on yuh... Ah wants to see you married right away (12). Since Janie still has her womanhood, Nannie wants Janie to be married so her womanhood is not stripped away from her. Janie s grandmother was raped around the age that Janie is right now and she does not want Janie to have the same fate. Rational argument is based on sound reasoning and logic and not just meant for convincing others but providing evidence for the argument. Most arguments are based on rationality where logic and evidence is combined support the argument. Definition of terms: Rational comes from the Latin word rationalis, meaning reasonable or logical. If you re rational, you do things based on logic, as opposed to impulse or whimsy (http:/ /www.vocabulary.com/dictionary). The question is is it advisable to have genderneutral bathrooms? Most schools have segregated washrooms, i.e. separate washrooms for boys and girls. However, I feel that in modern times, it need not be so. Single user bathrooms are meant for use by one person at a time and multi user bathrooms have stalls that can be used by several people at one time. Gender neutral bathrooms can be used by anyone. Citizens would run rampant and people would commit crimes without any consequence for their actions. Now imagine a world where freedom was non existent. Everyone s actions and behaviors would coincide with one another, as if they were robots. Straying from the extremes, H. L. Mencken an American writer wrote that the average man would rather be safe than free. To completely understand his statement, you must look at a specific word. The average man. H. L. Mencken is right because people would rather have laws to protect themselves, people want to live comfortable lives, and the people who diverge from what society tends to do are more than the average person. In America, and a large majority of countries, you are born with a little bit of freedom. Freedom is offered in schools and homes. Once people grow up, and earn their freedom, they are allowed to roam the streets and say what they want to say and do what they want to do. But with freedom, there must be laws. Laws prevent people from stepping across the line and hurting others. In the field of education, men tends to go more to STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage, this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage gap. Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers. The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers $2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than half of the tipped workforce. Nitrogen Oxygen Depletion The largest impact that decomposition has on natural world in the vicinity of salmon farms is nitrogen and oxygen depletion. The microbial organisms are more active in the fish farms because the stagnant waters allow certain bacteria from salmon faecal pellets to accumulate and provide the microbes with a near optimal environment to produce the inorganic substances that are byproducts of remineralization. • 33. An Example Of Western Culture In The Baroque Period In Italy A perfect example of western art that depicts the drama and theatre during the periodization of 17th century Italian Baroque, is the piece titled Susanna and the Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi. In this painting, there is a woman taking a bath, however, behind her are two men who appear to be causing trouble. The biblical story has it that while Susanna was bathing, two judges cornered her offered her a bargain. The malicious men said that either she was to sleep with them, or they would tell the people that she had been seen with another man as a threat. Rather than being stoned, Susanna was preserved and the two men were punished for their actions. The Baroqueperiod in Italy had many key historical events and heavily influenced the visual culture. Italian culture during the Baroque period was significant because it had many key kinds of art, monuments and other visuals that represented this time period. During the 17th century, the Baroque consisted of a strong annunciation surrounding drama, theatre, and reformation. Figures were often displayed as if they were at a performance. Each painting was detailed and depicted a dramatic scene that told an elaborate story. It was common for a woman to be portrayed naked and freely as this was something that occurred often. This era also included an abundance of lights and darks that were juxtaposed to evoke feelings from the audience. Non western art was equally as exceptional as each countries art had a significant way of incorporating their culture into each piece. Li K an s 14th century ink on paper painting titled Bamboo displays the beauty within a single form of art, ink. Although simplistic, the ink has been manipulated into fine lines that show the foliage of the leaves on the background. This intricate calligraphy work enhances the piece and allows the artwork to reflect peace and delicacy. Unlike work from the 17th century Italian Baroque, the Chinese culture does not depict naked women but rather aims towards the ideals of nature. In China, the artwork was important as it enhanced the key events that were occurring during this time period in Chinese culture. Institutions/groups are deceiving and get away with a lot. For instance, cigarette companies advertise a product that can cause cancer. However, it seems that no one blames the company for selling it. They will blame the individual for smoking it. It is easier to blame the individual for making terrible choices, but it is ignorant to solely believe that individual is at fault for their personal choices. Even when it comes to morality, people tend to blame individuals for having flawed morals, but groups can influence immoral actions. Another problem with the foster care system is the waiting game to be adopted. The foster care process should look into other members of a child s family, so that way they don t end up with random people who may or may not offer permanent care. The foster care system in general puts kids like Randy in a constant cycle of waiting. Waiting for someone who cares enough to display love and offer a security. Based on Ms. Anna s hospitalization, we see that Randy was quickly out of Anna s care and taken straight into a group home. This isn t fair to Randy because jumping from someone s care to another shows how Randy doesn t have anyone that truly cares for him. The foster care system failed Randy by not providing him the security, love and the proper care he needs. How Does Female Divine Power Affect Society Journal Entry 2/13 Christ s theory was re imagining divine power as Goddess and if this has important psychological and political consequences for men and women. She basically is trying to re imagine our society today with a female divine God, and she examines how that change would effect our society. She says this female power would actually validate female power seen in our society today. Although there would be a lot of hesitation from that actual transition from male to female divine power. This is not only a challenge to change the gender of divine power, but this is challenging the structure of our society. This is most likely what would cause the hesitation, people like to feel safe, and comfortable and that usually doesn t come along with change. She did stress that it s not replacing the male God with a Female, its about balancing the two. Do you think the gender of a divine power matters? • 36. Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language Background to the study CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child language interaction during the first three years (Hart Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child. Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie, 1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984). Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady, Warren Sterling, 2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur, Flynn Eichorst, 2005). A large UK cohort study examined maternal responses rated at 12 months during an observed motherinfant interaction and found that positive maternal responses and infant development were associated at 18 months (Pearson et al., 30 Educational Child Psychology Vol. 31 No. 4 The British Psychological Society, 2014 The impact of the Mellow Parenting programme on later ... Gladwell is a New York journalist and author. Authoring four books that made an appearance on New York Times bestsellers list, these books were, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference (2000), Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking (2005), Outliers: The Story of Success (2008), and What the Dog Saw: And Other Adventures (2009). All of the works he has created touch a great deal on subjects such as psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, sociology, and relationships between people. I obtained this book from an app called, Audible, where I listened to Gladwell narrates the book himself. My book, Blink, is a book that s about snap judgments and it s about taking snap judgments seriously. And it s not a book that says they re great and it s not a book that says they re terrible. It s a book that says they are both. It can be really good and it can be really bad. And we need to understand them on a very much more sophisticated level if we were to construct a better world for ourselves. • 38. Tevye s Fiddler On The Roof The definition of a fiddler is as follows: a person who plays the violin, especially one who plays folk music. However, in the play Fiddler on the Roof , the word fiddler has so much more meaning. It means tradition, balance, and it is also a representation of the people of Anatevka. The fiddler in the play shows up fairly often. And every time it adds meaning to the play. At the very beginning, Tevye tells us that the fiddler is a representation of the people of Anatevka: But in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. When Tevye comes back from the bar, and after speaking to the constable (Pg. 54), the fiddler comes into the scene and ...he circles Tevye, and they dance off together. (Pg. 54). In the book, that s all it says. However, in the movie you can see the fiddler beckoning Tevye and they begin to dance off together, but the music slowly begins to spin out of control as the fiddler dances off the stage with Tevye and the next scene begins. This indicates that the story is going to spin out of control. So that is how the fiddler represents balance, because the music spinning out of control represents them losing balance. The music that the fiddler plays represents their balance. Which ties into the first quote I mentioned, where Tevye explains that each person in Anatevka is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2.) So, what the music sounds like is how balanced they are. If they are beginning to fall off the roof, the music gets more intense because the fiddler is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this book report, I will focus on story description and literary elements, analysis, and evaluation of the story from a student s perspective. Joe is a company colleague of Sandy, the protagonist of the story, who gives a first person perspective of Joe s weekend shelf production project. Another major character is Ralph. He is Sandy s neighbor and a worker from a different company. The mood of the story is serious, but down to earth, since its tone is conversation rather than instructional. The primary approach was to give Palestine the control of the state of Gaza and the West Bank, and leaving the rest of the land to Israel. This plan they came up with was called the two state solution which was supposed to help reduce less conflict. Both public and private companies follow this practice. The options give the executives the right but not the obligation to buy the company s shares at a fixed price before the expiration date is reached. If the company does well, its shares prices rise. But the employee can buy the shares at a lower price fixed at the beginning. This will give the employee instant profit. Knowing that he/she will make a profit when the company s share prices go up, the employee is motivated to work hard for the company to grow. This is why employee stockoptions is such a popular method of compensation among many companies. However according to Hall, critics state that the stock options only motivate the employee to work harder for the immediate boost of the company s sales so as to increase their own profits and that the employee has no real interest in the actual long term benefit of the company. The Mac OS is built on the UNIX operating system, which is by far more stable that PC s own foundations. This results in fewer crashes with the system. The Mac systems are also more stable because Apple controls everything that is plugged into the system, and each system is complete straight out of the box.
