Invention of the Automobile Essay
Invention of the Automobile
In the beginning, man s only form of transportation was his own feet. Later, to comfort his
journey on foot, was the invention of footwear. Through envy of the speed of other animals he
would learn to tame these animals. People who live in the desert ride atop camels. The people
who live in the frigid climates travel by dogs. Some people from places like India ride elephants.
But the must widely used form of transportation by animal power was by horse. Man would soon
develop boats and ships to travel long distances over water and time would flow like the rivers and
hundreds of years later, in the late 1700s steam power became the new craze. Steam power got the
wheels turning amongst many inventors who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interesting to note is that the only invention he made was a two cycle internal combustion engine.
The automobile today has items that are critical to have. If a major car company were to produce a
car powered only by Lenoir s engine it would never sell because of the essentials.
THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are the necessary parts for an automobile to be an automobile
in today s world. If someone were to build an automobile like that of Lenoir s today it would be
nothing more than a go kart. No one would call it an automobile. Automobiles need certain
things other than just an engine and a horse carriage to be considered an automobile today for
two reasons. One reason is so someone will actually buy it and another is because it s the item is
required by law. In 1861 a German engineer named Nikolaus August Otto built his first gasoline
powered engine. Three years later he would team up with Eugen Langen to form the Deutz Gas
Engine Factory. Otto s engine was based on the same principles of Lenoir s. It was also a two
stroke engine with one cylinder but it used the different type of fuel, gasoline rather than coal gas.
Otto and Langen learned of a way to gain more efficiency by compressing the gas before
combustion in 1867. This led them to production of the first four stroke

The Journey Of Becoming A Counselor
The journey to becoming a counselor starts far before applying to graduate school. It begins even
before the thought is realized. The development of one s personality plants seeds that lead to many
paths for growth. Stepping back to evaluate your own personality can allow for greater
understanding that will aide you to fully discovering the path to take.
When looking back at the development of my personality, I have to examine all of the factors that
contributed to shaping me into me. My personality is competitive, trusting, empathetic, funny,
introspective and even keeled. Breaking down each characteristic deeper allows me to investigate
how I came to adopt the trait. Competitiveness is an inherited trait. My father played professional
sports and his competitive nature was ingrained in me from birth. Growing up with a public
figure as a parent is a unique experience. There is pressure to maintain other s perceptions and
balance your personal motivation system with living up to what you think is expected of you.
Perfection or excellence was never something that was my parent s forced on me, but knowing
that other people expected it of me, weighed pretty heavily on me. As a result of soft
determination, I was enrolled in sports at age 5. The benefits of participating in sports are great.
They teach you teamwork, accountability, how to face adversity and healthy competitiveness. I
was fortunate to excel at soccer and played for a select team that was

The Hunt For Bullwinkle
The Hunt For Bullwinkle Are you going hunting today or not Buck ? Father had asked. In just a
minute, I am getting ready right now . Buck has been on the trail for a huge buck for nearly four
years now. The deer has earned the nickname of Bullwinkle. Trail cameras that had been set out
to try and capture this humongous beast, has only captured his picture one time...and only half
of his body. It could be seen that he was the largest buck around the place. Well I am going to the
woods now, I can feel it in my blood and bones that Bull will come out today exclaimed Buck.
Buck was so excited to go hunting more today than any other day, he knew that today would be
the day. As Buck walked to the woods, he began to move faster than he started off and was soon

Calypso Music History
You ve probably heard the song, Under the sea from the Disney movie, The Little Mermaid . Or,
maybe you ve heard the song Day O , also known as the banana boat song . Well, did you know
that these songs are examples of Calypso music? In this report, I will be explaining, where it came
from, what it is, and facts and information. Calypso musicoriginated in Venezuela, Trinidad, and
Tobago during the start of the 20th century. It was traced back to West African Kaiso and the
arrival of the French planters and their slaves in the 1800s. People think that these songs were
introduced during the French settlement of the island of Trinidad. An African slave named Gros
Jean is thought to be the first Calypsonian, or someone who makes Calypso music. Over the last
century Calypso music has been becoming well known by not only the Carribean, but around the
world. 1914 was a huge year for Calypso music, because this was when the first Calypso recording
was made by the Victor Gramophone Company of New York. So, now you no where it came

Calypso music is considered as party and dance music, but the main focus is really the lyrics.
Calypso music was used by slaves. The slaves would use the lyrics to make their work go by
faster. The lyrics are usually political in nature and also feature some kind of social
commentary. A classic calypso song called Rum and Coca Cola , talks about the American
Military bases in Trinidad in the 1940s. The movie Rio features many Calypso songs. In the
movie The Little Mermaid the very popular song, Under the Sea , is also Calypso music. The
song Day O is one of the most well known Calypso songs. The Tim Burton movie, Beetle Juice
feature some of Harry Belafonte s Calypso sings. Some Calypso music artists are: Mighty Sparrow,

An Analysis Of Benjamin Franklin s Remarks Concerning The...
Published in 1784, Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America, by Benjamin Franklin,
explains the division between how the Native Americans were thought of by the European
settlers, and indeed, this essay applies to how they are often thought of today. Even though the
Europeans thought the natives were uneducated savages, Franklin points out ways they were
actually more civilized than the Europeans. An interesting point made in the essay was what the
Americans were learning from both church and school. Franklin uses an example of a time
when the Native Americans sent a couple of young people to be educated at a white college. The
students learned to be academically smart, but when they came home, they were bad Runners,
ignorant of every means of living in the woods...they were totally good for nothing (Franklin
928). After that experience, they were very resistant to send more natives. Those students lost
valuable skills on surviving in the wild and even part of their culture. The speaker also says at the
end of his speech, If the Gentlemen of Virginia will send us a Dozen of their Sons, we will take
great Care of their Education, instruct them in all we know, and make Men of them (928).... Show

Once a week everyone would stop what they were doing to hear and learn good Things (930). A
native wanted to sell his beaver skin to a white merchant, but he only would take a low offer. The
merchant went to the church and came out to say, I cannot give so much, and lowered the offer
(930). The native realized the good Things they learn in church are actually teaching them how to
cheat Indians in the Price of Beaver (930). Un American cultures are often treated unfairly, even
though they deserve the exact same as everyone else. Americans sometimes think we can get away
by cheating them off, but we should know better because they know exactly how we might be

Cognitive Development
Cognitive Development According to Piaget
Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become
more complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain
orderly stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it
is the study of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft,
2001, p.3). How we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched
by Jean Piaget. He was a cognitivist: he believed that our environment stimulates us to learn on our
own (make our own intelligence).
Piaget was a Swiss psychologist who had a major impact on educational theory in the ... Show more

The final sub stage is from eighteen to twenty four months and is called mental combinations. This
is when they start to pretend. They now have symbolic play where they imitate mom, dad, brother
or sister, babysitter, etc. They can now remember the past and certain isolated events.
Piaget s second stage of cognitive development is the Preoperational Stage and is from age two
to six or seven years (Woolfolk, 2001). This is the stage where children really start to use
symbolic representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of
times with more learning occurring in each. The first sub stage is from two to three or four years
and is called the preconceptual phase. At this stage children start to judge from their own
experiences. However, the world still revolves around them; if they want it, it will happen (or so
they think). They also think that others have access to their thoughts. Therefore, when children of
this age start to talk about random ideas or people they know, they don t give specifics because
they think others know exactly what or who they are talking about. In this stage, children are very
egocentric. More than forty percent of the time, they talk about themselves. Their
imagination in this stage is very active. They talk to inanimate objects (their toys, a rock, a stick,
etc.). This is when they start to mix play with reality. They are afraid of monsters and fictional bad
guys from their favorite cartoon

Abstract
This paper explores the Apostle Paul s teachings on marriage, divorce, remarrying and celibacy.
This teaching on marriage is found in 1 Corinthians 7. In his teachings Paul gives advice to the

The husband must love his wife as he loves himself and must not divorce his wife.
Another thing that we learn from Paul is about the problems in marriage and divorce. Paul
teaches about some of the most common marital problems. A big marital problem is sex and
faithfulness. God tell us that our bodies belong to him, we must flee from sexual immorality and
that anyone who sins sexually sins against their own bod because our bodies belong to our spouse.
A husband must not go and seek sex outside the marriage nor go to the courts to force his wife to
have sex with him. The wife must not deprive herself from her husband and causing
Marriage, Divorce and Celibacy him to fall into temptation to seek sex outside the marriage. We
learn about divorce in Matthew 5:32 which says But I say to you that everyone who divorces his
wife, except for immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman
commits adultery. A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives and must not separate
from him and a husband should not divorce his wife. Paul taught us that marriage is hard and there
will be many hard times but we must learn to get through it with God as our guidance.
In today s world so many people are more concerned with their own needs and wants that they
forget completely about God and his commandments. People are more concerned with pleasing
themselves and are more concerned with their own sexual desires that

A Teacher s Lack Of Professionalism
I interviewed several people from a range of positions. An assistant principal, a special education
lead, and several teachers. 1.A lack of services being provided to a dyslexic student due to
overwhelming amount of responsibilities given to the head of special education created a
conflict among the head of the program, the counselor, the administrator, and the parent. 2.Loss
of trust and animosity among a team based on one teacher s lack of professionalism. The team
took turns making lesson plans, locating resources, and creating rotating substitute plans. One of
the teachers rarely had her portions of the work done causing the other members of the team to
scramble around getting a lesson together at the last minute. This teacher also called in sick
several times and waited until a few minutes before school started to call one of the other s and
ask them to provide a lesson for the substitute. This conflict escalated to the Dean of Instruction.
3.Two teachers who were married and working on the same campus and same department when
one of them was suspended for inappropriate conduct with a student created conflict within the
department. 4.A math teacher followed the directions of the district math coordinator to give a
test that used unethical racial stereotypes in the word problems. 5.A science teacher was hired to

The Behavior Of Advertisers And Bidding Price
In recent years, we have received a lot of information from different search engines, and browsed
related advertisements that showed up automatically as well. What we can do is to study the
behavior of advertisers and the methods about posting advertisements. As Yahoo! has provided
some datasets for studying, we decided to focus on the advertisers bidding price on specific time
and frequency.
project motivation
In this project, we would find out some relationship between behavior of advertisers and bidding
price, to assume the rules about price trend among different time. Of course, we would design
special models for calculating and use Tableau as major tools to access the data we need. With the

Yahoo! Search Marketing is using real time bidding (RTB) technique, with which advertising
buyers bid on main slots along with Yahoo! s search results after the user put in certain keywords
for search. RTB is different from traditaional bidding methods, such as CPM (cost per mille) and
CPC (cost per click). To put it simply, RTB allows advertising buyers to bid for target customers,
which are selected through analyzing users browsing history and possible interests, and to place
specific advertisement for each user. In this way, the presented advertisement becomes more
relevant and precise for target customers.
According to eMarketer, a market research company, advertising buyers in United States will spend
more than nine billion dollars on RTB in the near future. They also predicted that in 2017 the RTB
cost will constitute 29% of total advertisement cost.
The process of RTB:
Use Yahoo! like a example
Step 1, Yahoo! obtains users information through the users visit history.
Step 2, Yahoo! sends the information to the Ad exchange. The information contains URL, Ad
location, user Cookie ID, etc.
Step3, Ad Exchange requests a real time bidding, and sends the bidding request to several DSP
servers.
Step4, DSP server sends the data to the bidding engine after it has received the request.
Step 5, Advertiser s User Data Storage analyses the User ID that send from bidding

In the novel, The Kite Runner , written by Khaled Hosseini, was taken place in Afghanistan during
the 1970 s to the year of 2002. Many historical events happened during this time period and
Hosseini portrayed it into his novel. Kabul, the capitol of Afghanistan, was a free, living area for
many Afghanistan families to enjoy the life they were given. Until one day, Afghanistanwas then

Hassan s characteristics Hazara Mongolid features (Hosseini 8). The Hazara were Mogul
descendants and their eyes were slightly slanted. This conflict happened in society when Abdur
Rahman Khan became the king of Afghanistan. Khan did not like the Hazara people. He had a
negative approach with them and gave them all a tough time living in Afghanistan. If Baba
never let Ali and Hassan live with them on their property, then Ali and Hassan would be living in
the Kazarasjat Mountains. A place that no one wants to be living. Baba and Ali are half
brothers. They kept that a secret from everyone for a long period of time. Since Hassan and
Amir were best friends, when they would go out to fly their kites or just go out to play and read
on rocks, the Pashtuns kids would look at Amir and wonder why he was friends with a Hazara
boy. In the novel, a Pashtun boy and his friends ask Amir why he is friends with a Hazara boy. If
Hassan never lived with Amir, they would have never been friends. Amir does not find out until
later on in the story that him and Hassan are actually related. He finds out when he gets the phone

A Brief Note On California s Water Crisis
The case study that I will be analyzing and responding to is a major environmental issue in many
areas, especially with the state of California. California s water crisis is a major issue that has
brought the attention to many people to try to fix the problem. With the Central Valley being the
agricultural capital of the world, the current droughtissue that we are facing is not only historic, but
also very alarming for several reasons. With the current record breaking drought in California, there
are three factors that are said to be the reasons for causing the drought, which includes rising
temperatures, shortage of water from the Colorado River, and depletion in groundwater
(Macdonald, 2015). With rising temperatures over the years, the environmental changes that occur
with this are an increase in evaporation, which is taking water from reservoirs and other sources
where irrigation is coming from. With climate change with higher temperatures, this is taking away
water that is needed to water the many crops that produce vegetation that is distributed all across
the United States. The threatening of water supplies, especially here in the state of California is an
issue that is very much real and is something that should not be ignored. The second concern that
comes with the water crisisin California comes from the Colorado River water shortage. With the
Colorado River being the greatest source of water for all of Southern California, the source of
water has declined

Developing A Healthy Organizational Culture Essay
Human Resources approach performs an extremely essential function in creating and maintaining
competitive advantage; many organizations disregard the importance of HR in creating competitive
advantage. The three priorities will require a major transformation in the organization. HR strategy
should support the conversion, and help the workforces to acclimatize in a different environment.
One major objective of the innovative HR strategy will be to create a healthy organizational culture
that supports innovation, collaboration, and intercontinental operation. Leadership plays an
enormously important role in developing a healthy organizational culture. (Dessler, 2013)
Furthermore, the innovative HR strategy will provide the workforces a platform where they can
express their opinion, thoughts, recommendations, and perspectives for the conception of a more
productive workplace. The workforces can also share their views on how to create a supportive
organizational culture. The personnel will likewise share their ideas and recommendations on
improving processes, cutting expenditure, reducing waste etc. The Availability of such platform
will improve employee satisfaction, create a sense of ownership, involve employees in decision
making, and motivate employees to achieve their individual as well as organizational objectives.
(Dessler, 2013) Additionally, the modernistic HR strategy will develop a workforce preparation
procedure that can determine the critical abilities and skills of

The Effects Of The Market Revolution On The 18th Century
Jihoon JunDBQ
From the early to 18th century the Market Revolution had tremendous and lasting impacts on the
Northern, Southern and Western economies. The Revolution brought about new technological
inventions as well as an influx of immigrants to new lands. The effects of the Market Revolution on
Northern, Western and Southern societies are evident in various ways. For the North, the revolution
gave way to the increase in population because of immigrants. Contrary to this, the West
experienced advancements and developments in technology due to the Revolution and inventors
such as Eli Whitney. Lastly for the South, the Market Revolution created different perceptions on
the various social effects the movement had on society.
In the Northern society, the Market Revolution gave way to the plethora of immigrants that settled
in the North. Between 1840 and 1860 many individuals in different nations sought freedom from
poverty, social division and various other factors. In fact, during the mid 18th century, roughly 2
million Irish, 1.5 million Germans, and 750,000 Britons settled in the Northern United States. From
this time period, 88% of the immigrants were either English, German or Irish (Doc. 4). This graph
clearly illustrates the overall immigration as a whole; however, this document fails to address the
fact that this sudden immigration also had some negative consequences. The event also resulted in

Factors Affecting Academic Achievement
CHAPTER ONE Introduction Nationwide, no education issue has received more attention with the
least progress yet than closing the academic achievement and attainment gaps for minorities. Over
the course of time, educational social theorists have increasingly focused on cultural and
socioeconomic factors to explain the existing differences in academic achievement among
students (Pishghadam Zabihi, 2011). It is through these cultural experiences, which are widely
influenced by cultural and socioeconomic factors, that students attain a certain degree of cultural
and social capital that serve as a predictor of their academic success (S. Kim H. Kim, 2009).
Along with cultural and social capital, self efficacy is also a predictor for students academic
success because it is an indicator of motivation and perseverance to reach a goal (Bandura,
Barbaranelli, Caprara, Pastorelli, 2001). Of course we know, motivation plays a pivotal role in
helping students surpass the obstacles they face. As if the factors affecting the academic
achievement and attainment gap were not enough, students in light of self preservation when
seeking approval of significant family members and teachers engage in greater use of self
handicapping (Leondari Gonida, 2007). Unfortunately, many of these obstacles students face is the
result of cultural and socioeconomic factors and therefore beyond their control. The proposed study
is designed to increase understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic

Lady Lazarus, by Sylvia Plath
Lady Lazarus is a poem by Sylvia Plath, written in 1962 shortly before her death in early 1963,
and published posthumously by her husband, poet Ted Hughes, in 1965 in the collected volume
Ariel. Lady Lazarus is a poem about suicide as a rebirth, and was in part inspired by Plath s own
life and draws heavily on Plath s lifelong struggle with bipolar depression and suicidal feelings,
and uses holocaust imagery to paint a bleak portrait of suicideand hopelessness. Sylvia Plath was
born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1932 to a German immigrant college professor and his graduate
student turned wife. The early years of Plath s life were comfortable, spending much of her time
near the seaside. After losing her father in 1940, Plath and her... Show more content on

The title of the poem, Lady Lazarus, is a reference to the biblical story of Lazarus of Bethany, a
man brought back to life by Christ as a demonstration of his divine power to non believing
onlookers. (The Holy Bible, King James Version, John 1 44.) The speaker in the poem compares
her near death experience and suicide attempts to a resurrection or rebirth, such as in the story
of Lazarus. In the first stanza the speaker declares that every ten years she dies, drawing an eerie
parallel to Plath s own life. At eight, Plath lost her father and this sparked an immense resentment
towards him and strong feelings of alienation throughout the rest of her life; this was her first
death, and the speaker declares this death an accident in stanza 12, lines 2 3. Her second death
was intentional. (stanza 13) This death came at age twenty when Plath attempted suicide for the
first time. The speaker in the poem says that this death was meant to be permanent and she did not
wish to be reborn. (stanza 13, line 2.) The third and final death was Plath s suicide at age thirty,
only a few months after Lady Lazarus was written. In a way, Plath hinted at her worsening mental
state through this work. In stanza seven, the speaker says she is only thirty, as was Plath at the time
she wrote this poem. The speaker alludes to coming suicide attempts by comparing herself to a cat

George Orwell s Animal Farm
American Journalist Carl Hiaasen once said, Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a
sense of injustice, that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed
(www.brainyquote.com). In George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, Orwell fuels his inspiration for
the novel from his anger and dislike towards the misuse of governmental power, and the corruption
that occurs when the government has too much power. The pigs in this novel represent a
government s leaders and the effects of what happens when a government gains too much power
and influence over its people. The pigs, especially their leader Napoleon, misuse their power and
use it to take advantage of the animal with a lower intelligence level. Orwell satirizes Napoleon by
giving him the characteristics of a ruthless dictator who uses education, violence, and rhetoric to
control the other animals on the farm.
The pigs use rhetoric to convince the animals to adopt Napoleon as their leader and remain loyal
to him. The animals on the farm spend their lives being a slave to the farm. Napoleon, however,
abuses the animals loyalty, and even though they spend every day of their lives trying to please
him, they are never good enough for Napoleon. They are constantly reminded that Bravery is not
enough... loyalty and obedience are more important (55). After the deadly battle that allowed
Animal Farm to be a free state, Squealer, Napoleon s messenger, convinces the farm animals that

Informal Institutions In Thailand Case Study
Why Coup d Г©tat recurrently exist in Thailand? пѓ Strong informal institutions.
Strong informal institutions
The definition of informal institution according to Douglass North is that informal institutions are
specific organizations or rules that constrain and influence human behavior. It is the structure of
human actions by providing incentives that shape economic and political behavior. Informal
institutions are not written in rules or laws, but still constrain the behavior of people. Antonio
Gramsci, Italian neo Marxist theorist talked about the hegemonic stability, which is the dominant
class constructed norms in society, with the coercion consent. Constructed norms embedded in
political cultural value and accepted by lower class in society. For example the case of Thais have

Patrick Bateman In American Psycho
In my opinion, in Bret Estern Ellis novel, American Psycho published in 1991, I think that an
important theme and idea of the novel is the society in which it is based in.
Almost all of the characters in the novel, including the main character, Patrick Bateman, are largely
concerned with materialistic possesions and gain, power, and how their superficial appearences
appear to others.
Patrick Bateman is shaped mostly by the society that he lives in, showing us the superficial and
brutal sides of capitalism. It is apparent how Patrick and his colleagues and friends perceive other
people who they consider below them and how they perceive themselves.
This is evident when Patrick and his friend, Timothy Price are in a cab and spot a beggar on the
street and Timothy makes the effort to open the cabs door for him as a joke and then asks the
beggar if he takes American Express and snickers, slamming the cab door. At another stage of the
novel, Patrick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

being, with only a dim corner of my mind functioning
He also says:
There wasn t a clear, identifiable emotion within me, except for greed and, possibly, total disgust.
All these quotes from Patrick tell us how he views himself and how unemotional he is.

market in 1890. It started producing cars in 1905, at that time it was only car making company in
Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). In the 1980s the Skoda brand constituted the symbol of

Basing on the reasonable price, Skoda could not compete other brands of cars on style. In the
early 1980s, company budget was so low for innovations and promotions that somebody has ever
said that trying to sell Skoda was something like trying to sell nuclear waste . As the reason for
these problems, Skoda s brand image was not very well. There were 60% people who will never
buy a Skoda because its looks are out of time and out of sync with its product image, according
the previous market researches. Due to this brand image, Skoda has been talked in lots of jokes,
for example: what do you have to do if your Skoda gets in the way of a swarm of killer bees? and
the answer for this question was stop pushing and take refuge in the car . 2.) Marketing Mix
Marketing mix is the combination of marketing activities in order to promote a particular good
or service. There are four elements called 4P: Product (what will the business sell), Price (how
much will the business charge), Promotion (how to get people to buy the product), Place (how
will the product be distributed). Skoda was a struggling company until the early 1990s, it
encountered low productivity, the lack of skilled labour, high debts and low sales etc. It was
producing out of date and unreliable cars, which led to its brand to be the symbol of unreliability.
As the reason for this, Skoda began to

Summary Of Bacchae By Euripides And Oresteia
In this paper, I intend to describe the inner working of the household in Greek civilization on
three levels: family, city, and cosmos of gods. To achieve this goal, we will look into Bacchae by
Euripides, and Oresteia by Aeschylus. Bacchae shows the workings of the house of Cadmus, a
royal family, whose actions directly affect their city. This family tree includes a god, and is
strongly affected by the will of the cosmos, through Dionysus. Oresteia is a play of three parts. We
see the families dysfunctional interactions, and how they impact the city over time. We also see
how the gods have an influence on these characters lives throughout the events that happen.
Overall these interactions lead to the undermining of Greek civilization through death and
destruction. Bacchae is a good example of the three levels of the household. Starting with the
level of family we see the flawed family dynamic in the house of Cadmus. Cadmus has four
daughters. Semele is the mother of Dionysus, and Agave is the mother of Pentheus. Semele
claimed the father of her child was Zeus, but the rest of her family did not believe her tales,
calling her a liar. No one in the family, or city for that matter, believed Dionysus status was true,
disrespecting him and his followers. Dionysus say Pentheus ...pays no attention to me in his
prayers. For that I ll show him I am a true god. (Bacc.46 48) Dionysus does just that, showing
them the truth in the worst way possible, enacting his revenge by having Agave unknowingly rip
her own son, Pentheus, apart with the help of her sisters. Agave says she d like to go far away
from the curse of Kithairon....where there s no display of a thyrus to remind me. (Bacc.1384
1386) She know Dionysus has defeated them, and her son is dead, she wants only to get away
from the pain. This royal family is torn apart, murderer, exiled, and turned to serpents at the hands
of one of their own relatives because they had no respect for him or his followers.
The fact that the family is of royal blood mean what happens to them affects not just the inner
workings of the family, but the city state as a whole, or the second level of the household. When
the city did not believe Dionysus, instead backing the beliefs

Descriptive Essay On Summer And Winter
It s four o clock on a rainy, autumn, Monday afternoon. I ve chosen my location to be my room
in my apartment at 2224 Blowing Rock Rd. The window is always left open due to my admiration
for the regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable,
calm, and upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really
aimed to write this while the weatherwas accenting autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more
relaxing than a nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the windand rain serenade
you. The whole season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote The indescribable
innocence and beneficence of Nature, of the sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter, such
health, such cheer, they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that
all nature would be affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely,
and the clouds rain tears, and the woods shed their leaves and put on mourning in midsummer, if
any man should ever for just a cause grieve (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a
few distinct sounds around me. A faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner.
Music helps me focus on whatever work I have for the night. Although I have turned the radio
down in order to hear other sounds for this assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and
an upbeat squeak of some kind of horn. Attached to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind
is picking up today and every time it blows a small gust through my window the curtain moves and
the bells dance along it. They soundlike tiny cow bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a
small candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it
possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in the room is the tapping and clicking of
my laptop keys as I write this. Outside of my window, there are several different layers of sound all
unique to each other. The first layer come from the immediate parking lot in front and the whole
apartment complex itself. I can hear bustling neighbors all around; faint laughs, doors shutting, cars

The United Nations Targets For Ocean Sustainability
1. The United Nations targets for ocean sustainability are measurable when looking at 14.1,
14.2, 14.3, 14.4, 14.5 and 14.6. This is due to that fact that the United Nations is able to create a
base level in order to look at the major contributors to these issues this can be then simplified as
these contributors are the human population. For example, when look at target 14.3 which deals
with the eminent of fossil fuels, fossil fuels are cause by production run by humans. Allowing
humans to have control over how many fossil fuels they want to eminent on a daily basis. Another
example of a target that can be measurable is 14.4 as it deals with the issue of over fishing and the
use of fishstocks. This target is measurable as The United Nations is able to measure fish stocks
and will be able to measure them ten years from now to see if the laws put in place are positively
affecting our worlds oceans. They will be able to check the harvest growth pattern that the fish
stocks provide in order to catch illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. There are however
targets under The Unites Nations goal that are not measurable this can be seen when looking at
targets 14.7,14. a,14. b and 14.c. I believe that these goals are unable to be measured due to that
fact for example in 14.7 there is no quantification in dollars or percentages as it is looking at
economic benefits of developing states. When looking at the other targets they are to general and
have no specific goal (i.e. date)

Theme Of Bias In Pride And Prejudice
Arrogance and preconception has always been an essential part of living with perceptions of
downgrading women and their education. It entails how strong or weak a person can become, as
well as increase or detriment a person s dignity in life. Conceit and Bias is perceived throughout
Pride and Prejudice.
In the text, Mrs. Bennet illustrates to the audience her prides, by enacting on her one clear goal in
life; that is to marry off her daughters to a high end, respectable man. Mrs. Bennet is known for
the type of person who would do anything to become a step ahead of everyone else in life. In the
text, she tries to teach all her children responsibility, by instructing them on techniques to retain
their men. The text Pride and Prejudice portrays similar characteristics to that of The good house
wives guide, . Though the two were written in different eras, the main characters inhabits many of
the qualities a typical house wife will have. According to the guide, You may have a dozen
important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first
remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours. During this time, it was very
clear that a man s happiness was over and above a woman s happiness. Consequently, as seen in the
Marriage and Love , by Emma Goldman, it is said that well behaved women rarely make history ,
due to their inability to dedicate themselves to their men. On the contrary, women today can make
history without their dedication to their men. Reason being is that women are no obtaining
education and sustaining jobs just as men are.
In the past, education was not a given option for women. Reason being is that women were required
to take care of home with the inclusion of their husbands; therefore, obtaining an education was not
an option. Typically, without education, a woman or any person will become unable to find a
settled permanent job. In Claiming an Education by Adrienna Rich, the author expresses that you
who are students, is that you cannot afford to think of being here to receive an education (Rich).
She expresses that you students, regardless of gender, can receive quality education and not only
that, but applying it to effective

Mothers And Daughters In Eudora Welty s The Joy Luck Club
Perhaps the most intriguing and interesting biographical theme that is repeated throughout the
novels is the traditional mother daughter dynamics and expectations. The importance of family and
filial respect for parents is a crucial part of East Asian culture. The family has and still is often
called the basic social unit in China(Welty 198). In Asian culture children are required to be
obedient and respectful in all cases to their parents (Welty 253). Motherand daughter relationships
are an especially intriguing dynamic because in the traditional cultures, women were often second
class and did not retain much respect. This idea is explored in The Joy Luck Club as Ying ying St.

Daughters saw their mothers to be lost in the past. When Thanh is unable to adjust to the
American way of life Mai thinks, But somehow at that moment, my mother imperfect and unable
to adjust, died in my mind (Cao 70). This separation often contributed to the feelings of being
lost and unable to live in harmony. Ying ying St. Clair in The Joy Luck Club reiterates this idea
of separation and misunderstanding as she describes her relationship with her mother as lost,
unseen, and unheard (Tan 64). The power in the relationships between mother and daughters,
however, is strong and immigrants can overcome their differences and find restoration and
healing. Thanh describes her powerful connection with her daughter when she writes, It will
always be there, of course. Even Mai has worked her way into accepting that fact, the fact of our
connection, strong and steady like the heart s vascular valves (Cao 169). The conclusion of The
Joy Luck Club follows this theme of the unbreakable bond between mothers and daughters, even
when facing the challenges of Asian assimilation. Jing mei Woo, the daughter who is plagued the
most with her unfulfilled duties as a daughter, travels to China to meet her older Chinese sisters.
She describes, Together we look like our mother. Her same eyes, her same mouth, open in surprise
to see, at last, her long cherished wish (Tan 332).

painting. The main story being told in this painting is the story of King Tecpancaltzin receiving the

Emotion Attribution Theory According To Schachter And Singer
Emotion Attribution Theory
According to Schachter and Singer (1962), emotion attribution theory is based on two factors of
emotions: physiological arousal and cognitive label. The two factor theory of emotion focuses on
the interaction between physical arousal and how we cognitively label that arousal. In their view,
being away from home and physical arousal may be interpreted as homesickness . The physical
arousal is the physical feeling for homesickness such as difficulty sleeping, loss of concentration, no
appetite and others. This theory then is extended by Pennebaker (1982) and be summarized. Firstly

A Brief Look at Global Warming
So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming
warmer. But what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t
traveling closer to the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more
with other rapid moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gasmolecules.
As more heat is trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more
collisions are present, the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles
collide with one another increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects
of life.
A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air
because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly
harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to
forest fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas
molecules are surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric
particles which make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions
between these different particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the
temperature increases as well. As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser
and gasses are getting trapped into our

What Role Does Utopia Play In A Dystopian Society
The world in any society has two sides, Utopia which is defined as the perfect world and the
peaceful life that is free from disasters. This word Utopia is derived from Greek roots by Sir
Thomas More which means a good place (More 37). Merriam Webster defined Utopia as an
imaginary place, all life aspects are perfect, as the world suffers from nothing (Webster 19). while
Dystopiais defined as an imagined universe in which the unequal society controls the fancy of an
ideal society which are maintained through technological, moral, corporate or totalitarian control
Beauty of dystopia is that it lets us vicariously experience future worlds but we still have the power
to change our own (Condie 75). in which the genre challenges utopias fundamental supposition of
human perfectibility, arguing humanity s inherent flaws that negate the possibility of constructing
ideal societies.

Date Rape Viewpoints
Changing views on Date Rape Everybody at some point in their lives partied a little to hard,
whether it was one night or multiple nights. Sometimes partying too hard has a consequence to it.
One main occurring problem has been Date Rape. The biggest problem with date rape is the
mental aspect of it. This is a huge problem because this causes the victims to have a long term
effect. Many victims are told it was their fault, and eventually they start to believe it. This causes
the victims to shut people out, become enclose in their private space, and sometimes suicidal
thoughts may occur. It s very important for our society to not continue to minimalize date rape.
People tend to look the other way, towards date rape. Usually people don t... Show more content on

She woke up the next morning in a strange bedroom, with no memory how she got there, with
one man next to her and the other man standing over her. No visual descrtpion needed on what

friend who took her to the police and the hospital and had a rape kit perform. Coleman said Your
whole life growing up you are taught you had to trust somebody, and what you think you can

tough. Luckily Coleman has recovered and starting sharing her story with other date rape

Pros And Cons Of Globalization In Chindia
Is Chindia a friend or a threat
We have spent a semester studying the effects of globalization on the world and business from
currency exchange to trade policy. Through our discussions and readings, we have learned that
globalization is a boon to business as much as it is a curse. In business, strategic alliance
agreements help companies further develop process, foster market expansion and surpass
competitiors. Although they both exist within the context of society, government and business are
two separate entities which share a few features. Governments at even the most basic level exist to
protect their citizens interests and to ensure that their needs are being met. While, business can
protect the interests of a group or country, their primary reason for existence is to turn profits to
satiate their shareholders and validate those who work daily to provide the good/service. However,
in order to provide adequately for their citizenry, governments are compelled to think and act a bit
more like businesses to ensure that their citizens remain content. India and China are two examples
of countries which at least in some areas of federal policy are thinking like businesses and as such
has formed, Chindia, what would be called a strategic alliance in business. In 2006, bilateral trade
between the two countries reached almost 20 billion dollars and revenue has only increased in
recent years (Economist). At first glance it seems that India and China are nearly equally matched;

The Is A Spiritual Journey Of A Student s Education
Generativity Versus Stagnation Formation occurs in every aspect of a student s education.
Students are formed by all they do, read, perceive, and interpret. This includes their taken for
granted assumptions and expectations. Formation occurs in the gaps as one values the questions
(Benner et al., 2010) and attending during these gaps can break the habit of hearing only what we
already understand (Heidegger , 1971, p. 54). Palmer (2009) described a tragic gap, the space
between hard realities and what one knows to be possible. Transformational: Core Strength
Spirituality The transformational development from learner to leader is a spiritual journey. It is a
renewing of the mind. It is an awakening to and acceptance of multiple ways of knowing Truth. It
is a transformational process of becoming which is a singularly powerful lived experience. More
importantly, this spiritual journey is a deconstruction and reconstruction of self; it is a movement
from individualistic academic pursuit toward scholarship embodied. The process and processes by
which learners develop into leaders are critically important to advancing the global health and
education priorities of the 21st century. The globalization and interconnectedness of industry,
healthcare, and education in higher learning institutions demand the development of astute,
inspired, and effectual thought leaders. According to Boyer (1990), without the vigorous pursuit of
free and open inquiry this country simply will

Nozick Experience Machine
In The Experience Machine written by Robert Nozick who was a philosophy professor at Harvard
University. Robert Nozick argues against the hedonism of Bentham. There is a concept of a
machine where you can plug it in and you can live the experience that you desire. The machine
could stimulate your brain into thinking that it is reality and you can do anything you want, but in
reality you are floating in a tank with electrodes attached to your brain. You can also program the
machine to how long you want to be in it and if you want to get out and reprogram it to however
long you want to stay in it. The question is that would you plug it in if there was nothing to worry
about in the real world? Robert Nozick makes these arguments, if all we value is experience than
we would spend our live in an experience machine, if we are not willing to spend our life in the
experience machine than experience is not the only thing we... Show more content on

The experience machine made sound great, you can control whatever you want and be whoever
you want, but your own actual experience is way more important. I do agree with all three of
his statements because being in the machine is like suicide. I feel like you re just living in a
constant dream and nothing you do in their will affect your real life. Man made experience is
way more important than what a machine can ever give you because you make your own
decisions and ultimately live up to your own problems. Nothing can be always perfect and there
will be flaws to the machine. Plugging in to the machine is basically like being dead because the
outside world will slowly start to forget you and when you decide to unplug the world may of
change a lot by then. It basically like those prison people that get sentence for however long and
when they return to reality, they have to adapt to it again because the world is constantly

Common Stereotypes And Misconceptions About Feminism
Feminism is the advocacy of women s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. Men,
women, children, anyone can be a feminist. From a feminist s perspective the world is viewed as
being unequal. Feminists aim to decrease and even eliminate all types of discrimination against
women. Feminism is the belief in social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. Feminists
are working towards a discrimination free future but to do so they must change individual s
perspectives on traditional women and male roles (genderroles.) The term gender roles refer to the
attitudes, actions and personality traits associated to a specific gender. For example, males are
usually associated with characteristics such as strength, dominance and aggression where as
females are seen as being the inferior sex and expected to look and act feminine. In order for
equality between the sexes both males and females need to be seen as equals. There are many
common misconceptions about feminists and stereotypical views towards the movement that
greatly affect the way feminists are portrayed.

confusion there appears to be 2 main perspectives that divide opinions about what feminism aims to

believe that feminism is a toxic culture with an anti men campaign driving it. While dictionary
meanings of feminism describe it as being an advocacy for equal social, political, legal and
economic rights, many women today say that they are judging feminism by its actions, and that
these actions show a culture of man hating angry women, who want to dominate rather than create

Quantitative Research Chapter 3
CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODS
3.1 Research Approach
There are two research approaches that researchers have to consider in conducting a research. Those
are quantitative and qualitative research. While both approaches become standards for conducting a
research, both approaches have major differences in answering research questions and gathering the
valid data.
Quantitative research can be described as an approach to which it explains a phenomenon expressed
in numerical data and analyzed by using mathematically based statistical tools (Aliaga and
Gunderson, 2000). As a conclusive research, quantitative research emphasizes what are the causes
of the phenomenon, assuming people to have fixed factors to which it causes a phenomenon.
Moreover, quantitative approach is more limited, emphasized only on measuring the quantity of
phenomenon instead of describing it. Thus, quantitative research has less statistical tools compare
to qualitative research. However, it has several advantages such as more time and cost saving.
Regarding to this research, the author decides to use quantitative research in conducting a research.
The reason why the author chooses quantitative research is because this research is more
emphasized on what considerations that people make in buying an automobile. Moreover, the
author assumes that people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Explain Who Is To Blame For The Death Of Romeo And Juliet...
Who s to blame for Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare? There are a lot of people that
could be blamed for it and those people aren t the ones who did it at all. But people think
differently and we have different opinions about things as well. Some people would think that s
it s them that could be blamed and it could be others still. It also just could have been just Juliet
because she s the one who took the poison that would put her to sleep for 48 hours and it could
be Romeo because he killed Tybalt and that he has been banished from his home. Nobody really
knows who to blame for their deaths really. So who is really to blame for their deaths? Romeo

Thats one of the people that most people might blame for them to be dead. He is the one who
wanted them to be together and get married and so that the two families would be friends and
not fight. He is the one who also gave Juliet the poison that would make her fall asleep for a
while, which gave the family the thought that she did die because of that and they think that she
died somehow else. If Friar Lawrence didn t give Juliet that poison then maybe they wouldn t
have died and then they would be together like they were meant to be. That could have not made
Juliet die and Romeo as well and make their parents and families sad. Another person that could
be blamed is Juliet. She is very young and is too young to marry now a days. I think she should
of waited to get married and then she could have been fine. But she has fallen in love with
someone a little old for her and she wanted to marry him just like that. That is the crazy part
about it. Her parents should have also waited to have her get married and then she could have
been just fine about it. The nurse doesn t help either, she helped Juliet get in touch with him
because she couldn t leave her home. So she was also helping as well which was a bad idea as

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority ( Mta
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA is the largest transportation network in North
America. It serves an area of 5,000 square miles, extending from New York City through Long
Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. MTA uses a variety of transportation means
from buses, to subways, and commuter trains, to provide 2.62 billion trips each year. (Metropolitan
Transportation Authority)
In an attempt to connect the Long Island Rail Road into the new East Side station that is being built
under Grand Central Terminal, MTA has begun construction on a project known as the East Side
Tunnel Access Project that began in 2004. This project involved boring many different tunnels
under the streets of New York City, with tunneling totaling over 11 miles. Many different
contractors where hired to complete different aspects of this project, including SSK (Sandhogs),
Dragados/Judlau, and Griffin Dewatering New England, Inc. This type of project is inherently
dangerous and injuries and accidents are more likely to occur. However, by ensuring compliance
with OSHA rules and providing needed safety equipment and procedures, the risks of serious
injuries and deaths can be limited or even prevented.
The violations that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued against
the contractors working on this project, and the amount of incidents that have occurred have been
numerous since construction began. The worse incident that has occurred on this

Innovative Inventions During The 19th-20th Century
The creation of innovative inventions was rampant during the 19th 20th century, throughout and
after the Industrial Revolution. These new creations completely altered daily life at the time and
made a huge impact on our work and home life, how we entertain ourselves, and what form of
transportation we use to move around. Some technological inventions that impacted our forms of
transportation were the helicopter, jet, and 3 pointed seatbelts. Helicopters and jets impacted the
way people (usually rich) traveled. These forms of transportation were faster than airplanes and
more efficient. They were also smaller and were important during combat, especially when sky
raids were conducted and speed, as well as, reliability was of top priority in order to get the job
done. As for 3 pointed seatbelts, this inventionwas a very important feature... Show more content on

They all helped people get work done quicker and more conveniently than by traditional

for work life since they allowed people to organize important documents, send and fax letters,
make and print posters, and do so much more with the click of a mouse or the press of a button.
Typing and printing was much swifter and easier than writing things down by hand. Video tape
recorders also proved to be beneficial, especially in journalism fields. Used as a form of work and
entertainment, people could capture important events and memories, exactly as they happened

perpetrators easier and more legitimate, similar to how people use videos today as proof of crimes

Revolutions In The 1820s
The revolutions of the 1820s and the 1830s were based on the power struggle between liberals
and conservative and motivated by liberalism and nationalism. In France, the Battle at the Rue de
Rohan on July 29, 1830, occurred due to the results of the election of July 25, 1830, which created
a more liberal Chamber of Deputies. This enraged King Charles X, an ultraroyalist, who wanted
absolute monarchic rule. Charles X implemented the Four Ordinances which, restricted freedom of
the press, dissolved the recently elected Chamber of Deputies, and called for new elections under a
franchise restricted to the wealthiest people in the country. Deliberately making it so that the
monarchy would have absolute control. The working class, infuriated with the Four Ordinances,
took the streets of Parisand built barricades; whilst, Charles X called the troops. On August 2
Charles X abdicated the throne and was exiled in England and Louis Philippe was named King of
the French, marking a shift in power from one of absolute monarchical control to a more liberal
government, labeled the July Monarchy. Whereas, in the German speaking lands the Hambach
Festival took place on May 27, 1832. Students marched to the Hambach castle, influenced by the
French Revolution two years prior. Radical and democratic leaders led a protest that was attended
by 30,000 people, they called for a republican government, rule of law, and freedom of expression.
The German monarchs did not comply and did exactly the

Endosymbiosis
The hypothesized steps for the evolution of eukaryotic cells from prokaryotic organisms involved
mitochondria and plastids. Eukaryotic cells classical membrane bound organelles evolved from the
bacteria through a process called endosymbiosis, which ranks amongst the most important
evolutionary events in history. In the early 1960s, Stanier, Douderoff, and Adelberg referred to the
prokaryote eukaryotedivide as the greatest single evolutionary discontinuity to be found in the
present day world While chloroplasts organelles in a plant celloriginated from cyanobacteria
through endosymbiosis as well. Therefore, the process involved the following steps: The eukaryote

heterotrophic, eukaryotic cell... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primitive eukaryotic cell was also eventually able to eat prokaryotes, a marked improvement to
absorbing small molecules from its environment ( Endosymbiosis The Appearance of the
Eukaryotes , 2017). This whole process of endosymbiosis started when the eukaryote engulfed and
could not digest an autotrophic bacterium; there is evidence suggesting that this bacterium was
alphaproteobacteria, which uses photosynthesis for energy. This opened up a new trend where the
eukaryote provided protection and nutrients to the prokaryote, and in return the prokaryotic
endosymbiont returned the favour by providing additional energy to its eukaryotic host through
respiratory cellular mechanism. In the long run this became a permanent arrangement in
completing the endosymbiosis process because the endosymbiont lost genes it previously used for
its independent life and transferred others to eukaryotes nucleus as it became more dependent on its
new host for organic molecules and inorganic

Slap Tear
SLAP Lesion Tear
A SLAP lesion tear is an injury to the shoulder. This can cause painful symptoms and difficulty
with overhead activities whether they be athletic or those of daily living. In 1985, Andrews et al
were the first to describe the superior labrum tear. In their experience, they identified tears of the
labrum from throwing athletes located anterosuperor near the origin of the bicep tendon. The
cause of the lesion to tear was the bicep tendon being pulled off the labrum from the force
generated during the throwing motion. As time went on, the labral tears got categorized into four
different types of classifications called SLAP lesions by Snyder in 1990. A SLAP lesion, as
described by Snyder involves tears of the superior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SLAP lesion can develop due to the repetitive forces of the throwing motion. Athletes that are
involved in overhead activities tend to develop a struggle in glenohumeral internal rotation. Both
internal impingement and peel back mechanisms can cause that to happen.
Walch et al first described the internal impingement as an intraarticular impingement of the rotator
cuff in the abducted and externally rotated shoulder. With 90 degrees of both abduction and external
rotation, the articular surface of the posterior superior rotator cuff becomes pinched between the
labrum and the greater tuberosity.5 The authors separated the labral lesions from SLAP lesions
which extended anteriorly to the biceps anchor at the supraglenoid tubercle, concluding that internal
impingement may be responsible for a subset of patients with isolated posterior SLAP tears.5
Burkhart et. al presented the peel back (posterior superior) mechanism that causes SLAP lesions.
The peel back has its origin in a biceps vector change in the position of abduction and external
rotation resulting in torsional forces to the labra bicipital complex.6 Once the posterior superior
labrum gets fatigued, it will start to rotate medially over the upper rim of the glenoid. This could
happen in a late cocking position of

throughout six grade because of his facial look. He would get called names like fish face and
receive physical threats to break his bones, especially on the bus. On the bus he would get
constant punches. It all changed once he watched a bully documentary. That s when he realised
that he wasn t the only one being bullied. He decided to do something about it.

started to always walk with a white cane. Her friends started to leave her and because she was
embarrassing them, also because she was blind she couldn t see them leave her so it took her a
little bit to realise that her friends left her. The worst part was that she was bullied physically and
verbally. Kids would take away her cane and hide it, they would laugh at her and they even told
her to KILL HERSELF! I think that is out ragiouse to tell someone they should kill themselves!
They even went as far to leave her in a forest alone and that she had to get home! She went through

Thomas Nagel s Theory Of Death Essay
In this paper, I will first elaborate on my understanding of Thomas Nagel s theory as to why death,
a permanent nonexistent state, is an undesirable state of being. I will then argue as to why I believe
that death is a misfortune using the argument that death terminates the positive experience of life as
well as rebut the counter argument for why death is goodbecause it gives meaning to life.
Nagel champions the belief that death, a state of permanent posthumous nonexistence defined as
unsupplemented by any form of conscious survival (769), is an occurrence that harms us. Nagel s
first argument for why death is bad is that it deprives us of life, of which contains various goods
that make life valuable. Nagel supports his argument by saying that if he [the man] had not
died, he would have continued to live it, and to possess whatever good there is in living (772).
He continues to list goods such as perception, desire, activity and thought (769) as he believes
that these are the essential elements to a person meaningful life. Though Nagel concedes that
the goods he listed entail both joy and misery, as they are also fundamental factors of life, he
also believes that a life which has more misery than it does joy is still desirable and should not
make death seem like a better option as it ends the misery. His reasoning for this belief is that
while a life may have more negative experiences than positive experiences, it is still emphatically
positive, (770) as the

Saxophone in Jazz: While the saxophone was part of these ensembles in the early days, it was not
what the saxophone is today. Today s saxophones stand out, they re given solos, a time in the
spotlight, while back in the day, the instrument was just part of the ensemble blending into it rather
than standing out. Once key players started to bring the saxophone to it s spotlight other players
realized they could not keep up with the speed and the unique sound being produced. Despite never
really making it big in the Orchestra world the saxophone has been successful in Jazz.
Key Players in the Jazz World: The early saxophonists that brought the saxophone to it s rightful
glory, such as Coleman Hawkins, an American jazz tenor player. While there was tenor players
before Hawkins, the instrument was not recognized as a jazz instrument until he came along.

  • 2. Invention of the Automobile Essay Invention of the Automobile In the beginning, man s only form of transportation was his own feet. Later, to comfort his journey on foot, was the invention of footwear. Through envy of the speed of other animals he would learn to tame these animals. People who live in the desert ride atop camels. The people who live in the frigid climates travel by dogs. Some people from places like India ride elephants. But the must widely used form of transportation by animal power was by horse. Man would soon develop boats and ships to travel long distances over water and time would flow like the rivers and hundreds of years later, in the late 1700s steam power became the new craze. Steam power got the wheels turning amongst many inventors who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interesting to note is that the only invention he made was a two cycle internal combustion engine. The automobile today has items that are critical to have. If a major car company were to produce a car powered only by Lenoir s engine it would never sell because of the essentials. THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are the necessary parts for an automobile to be an automobile in today s world. If someone were to build an automobile like that of Lenoir s today it would be nothing more than a go kart. No one would call it an automobile. Automobiles need certain things other than just an engine and a horse carriage to be considered an automobile today for two reasons. One reason is so someone will actually buy it and another is because it s the item is required by law. In 1861 a German engineer named Nikolaus August Otto built his first gasoline powered engine. Three years later he would team up with Eugen Langen to form the Deutz Gas Engine Factory. Otto s engine was based on the same principles of Lenoir s. It was also a two stroke engine with one cylinder but it used the different type of fuel, gasoline rather than coal gas. Otto and Langen learned of a way to gain more efficiency by compressing the gas before combustion in 1867. This led them to production of the first four stroke ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Journey Of Becoming A Counselor The journey to becoming a counselor starts far before applying to graduate school. It begins even before the thought is realized. The development of one s personality plants seeds that lead to many paths for growth. Stepping back to evaluate your own personality can allow for greater understanding that will aide you to fully discovering the path to take. When looking back at the development of my personality, I have to examine all of the factors that contributed to shaping me into me. My personality is competitive, trusting, empathetic, funny, introspective and even keeled. Breaking down each characteristic deeper allows me to investigate how I came to adopt the trait. Competitiveness is an inherited trait. My father played professional sports and his competitive nature was ingrained in me from birth. Growing up with a public figure as a parent is a unique experience. There is pressure to maintain other s perceptions and balance your personal motivation system with living up to what you think is expected of you. Perfection or excellence was never something that was my parent s forced on me, but knowing that other people expected it of me, weighed pretty heavily on me. As a result of soft determination, I was enrolled in sports at age 5. The benefits of participating in sports are great. They teach you teamwork, accountability, how to face adversity and healthy competitiveness. I was fortunate to excel at soccer and played for a select team that was ... Buck has been on the trail for a huge buck for nearly four years now. The deer has earned the nickname of Bullwinkle. Trail cameras that had been set out to try and capture this humongous beast, has only captured his picture one time...and only half of his body. It could be seen that he was the largest buck around the place. Well I am going to the woods now, I can feel it in my blood and bones that Bull will come out today exclaimed Buck. Buck was so excited to go hunting more today than any other day, he knew that today would be the day. If buck is still enough he just might get a shot of a lifetime to kill Bullwinkle. Now to settle my mind, so that I can concentrate and time will fly, but oh my lord it is getting cold. he thought to himself. Two hours had passed by, 2 does had walked onto the field and good sized ones to. I know I can take a shot at either of them, and it would be a lot of meat but I need to wait . • 6. An Analysis Of Benjamin Franklin s Remarks Concerning The... Published in 1784, Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America, by Benjamin Franklin, explains the division between how the Native Americans were thought of by the European settlers, and indeed, this essay applies to how they are often thought of today. Even though the Europeans thought the natives were uneducated savages, Franklin points out ways they were actually more civilized than the Europeans. An interesting point made in the essay was what the Americans were learning from both church and school. Franklin uses an example of a time when the Native Americans sent a couple of young people to be educated at a white college. The students learned to be academically smart, but when they came home, they were bad Runners, ignorant of every means of living in the woods...they were totally good for nothing (Franklin 928). After that experience, they were very resistant to send more natives. Those students lost valuable skills on surviving in the wild and even part of their culture. The speaker also says at the end of his speech, If the Gentlemen of Virginia will send us a Dozen of their Sons, we will take great Care of their Education, instruct them in all we know, and make Men of them (928).... A native wanted to sell his beaver skin to a white merchant, but he only would take a low offer. The merchant went to the church and came out to say, I cannot give so much, and lowered the offer (930). The native realized the good Things they learn in church are actually teaching them how to cheat Indians in the Price of Beaver (930). Un American cultures are often treated unfairly, even though they deserve the exact same as everyone else. Americans sometimes think we can get away by cheating them off, but we should know better because they know exactly how we might be treating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cognitive Development Cognitive Development According to Piaget Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become more complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain orderly stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it is the study of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft, 2001, p.3). How we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched by Jean Piaget. He was a cognitivist: he believed that our environment stimulates us to learn on our own (make our own intelligence). The final sub stage is from eighteen to twenty four months and is called mental combinations. This is when they start to pretend. They now have symbolic play where they imitate mom, dad, brother or sister, babysitter, etc. They can now remember the past and certain isolated events. Piaget s second stage of cognitive development is the Preoperational Stage and is from age two to six or seven years (Woolfolk, 2001). This is the stage where children really start to use symbolic representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of times with more learning occurring in each. The first sub stage is from two to three or four years and is called the preconceptual phase. At this stage children start to judge from their own experiences. However, the world still revolves around them; if they want it, it will happen (or so they think). They also think that others have access to their thoughts. Therefore, when children of this age start to talk about random ideas or people they know, they don t give specifics because they think others know exactly what or who they are talking about. In this stage, children are very egocentric. More than forty percent of the time, they talk about themselves. Their imagination in this stage is very active. They talk to inanimate objects (their toys, a rock, a stick, etc.). This is when they start to mix play with reality. The husband must love his wife as he loves himself and must not divorce his wife. Another thing that we learn from Paul is about the problems in marriage and divorce. Paul teaches about some of the most common marital problems. A big marital problem is sex and faithfulness. God tell us that our bodies belong to him, we must flee from sexual immorality and that anyone who sins sexually sins against their own bod because our bodies belong to our spouse. A husband must not go and seek sex outside the marriage nor go to the courts to force his wife to have sex with him. The wife must not deprive herself from her husband and causing Marriage, Divorce and Celibacy him to fall into temptation to seek sex outside the marriage. A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives and must not separate from him and a husband should not divorce his wife. Paul taught us that marriage is hard and there will be many hard times but we must learn to get through it with God as our guidance. The team took turns making lesson plans, locating resources, and creating rotating substitute plans. One of the teachers rarely had her portions of the work done causing the other members of the team to scramble around getting a lesson together at the last minute. RTB is different from traditaional bidding methods, such as CPM (cost per mille) and CPC (cost per click). To put it simply, RTB allows advertising buyers to bid for target customers, which are selected through analyzing users browsing history and possible interests, and to place specific advertisement for each user. In this way, the presented advertisement becomes more relevant and precise for target customers. According to eMarketer, a market research company, advertising buyers in United States will spend more than nine billion dollars on RTB in the near future. They also predicted that in 2017 the RTB cost will constitute 29% of total advertisement cost. • 12. A Brief Note On California s Water Crisis The case study that I will be analyzing and responding to is a major environmental issue in many areas, especially with the state of California. California s water crisis is a major issue that has brought the attention to many people to try to fix the problem. With the Central Valley being the agricultural capital of the world, the current droughtissue that we are facing is not only historic, but also very alarming for several reasons. With the current record breaking drought in California, there are three factors that are said to be the reasons for causing the drought, which includes rising temperatures, shortage of water from the Colorado River, and depletion in groundwater (Macdonald, 2015). With rising temperatures over the years, the environmental changes that occur with this are an increase in evaporation, which is taking water from reservoirs and other sources where irrigation is coming from. With climate change with higher temperatures, this is taking away water that is needed to water the many crops that produce vegetation that is distributed all across the United States. The threatening of water supplies, especially here in the state of California is an issue that is very much real and is something that should not be ignored. The second concern that comes with the water crisisin California comes from the Colorado River water shortage. Developing A Healthy Organizational Culture Essay Human Resources approach performs an extremely essential function in creating and maintaining competitive advantage; many organizations disregard the importance of HR in creating competitive advantage. The three priorities will require a major transformation in the organization. HR strategy should support the conversion, and help the workforces to acclimatize in a different environment. One major objective of the innovative HR strategy will be to create a healthy organizational culture that supports innovation, collaboration, and intercontinental operation. Leadership plays an enormously important role in developing a healthy organizational culture. The workforces can also share their views on how to create a supportive organizational culture. The personnel will likewise share their ideas and recommendations on improving processes, cutting expenditure, reducing waste etc. The Availability of such platform will improve employee satisfaction, create a sense of ownership, involve employees in decision making, and motivate employees to achieve their individual as well as organizational objectives. The effects of the Market Revolution on Northern, Western and Southern societies are evident in various ways. For the North, the revolution gave way to the increase in population because of immigrants. Contrary to this, the West experienced advancements and developments in technology due to the Revolution and inventors such as Eli Whitney. Lastly for the South, the Market Revolution created different perceptions on the various social effects the movement had on society. In the Northern society, the Market Revolution gave way to the plethora of immigrants that settled in the North. Between 1840 and 1860 many individuals in different nations sought freedom from poverty, social division and various other factors. In fact, during the mid 18th century, roughly 2 million Irish, 1.5 million Germans, and 750,000 Britons settled in the Northern United States. From this time period, 88% of the immigrants were either English, German or Irish (Doc. 4). • 17. Factors Affecting Academic Achievement CHAPTER ONE Introduction Nationwide, no education issue has received more attention with the least progress yet than closing the academic achievement and attainment gaps for minorities. Over the course of time, educational social theorists have increasingly focused on cultural and socioeconomic factors to explain the existing differences in academic achievement among students (Pishghadam Zabihi, 2011). It is through these cultural experiences, which are widely influenced by cultural and socioeconomic factors, that students attain a certain degree of cultural and social capital that serve as a predictor of their academic success (S. Kim H. Kim, 2009). Along with cultural and social capital, self efficacy is also a predictor for students academic success because it is an indicator of motivation and perseverance to reach a goal (Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, Pastorelli, 2001). Of course we know, motivation plays a pivotal role in helping students surpass the obstacles they face. As if the factors affecting the academic achievement and attainment gap were not enough, students in light of self preservation when seeking approval of significant family members and teachers engage in greater use of self handicapping (Leondari Gonida, 2007). Unfortunately, many of these obstacles students face is the result of cultural and socioeconomic factors and therefore beyond their control. Lady Lazarus, by Sylvia Plath Lady Lazarus is a poem by Sylvia Plath, written in 1962 shortly before her death in early 1963, and published posthumously by her husband, poet Ted Hughes, in 1965 in the collected volume Ariel. Lady Lazarus is a poem about suicide as a rebirth, and was in part inspired by Plath s own life and draws heavily on Plath s lifelong struggle with bipolar depression and suicidal feelings, and uses holocaust imagery to paint a bleak portrait of suicideand hopelessness. Sylvia Plath was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1932 to a German immigrant college professor and his graduate student turned wife. The early years of Plath s life were comfortable, spending much of her time near the seaside. After losing her father in 1940, Plath and her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title of the poem, Lady Lazarus, is a reference to the biblical story of Lazarus of Bethany, a man brought back to life by Christ as a demonstration of his divine power to non believing onlookers. (The Holy Bible, King James Version, John 1 44.) The speaker in the poem compares her near death experience and suicide attempts to a resurrection or rebirth, such as in the story of Lazarus. In the first stanza the speaker declares that every ten years she dies, drawing an eerie parallel to Plath s own life. At eight, Plath lost her father and this sparked an immense resentment towards him and strong feelings of alienation throughout the rest of her life; this was her first death, and the speaker declares this death an accident in stanza 12, lines 2 3. Her second death was intentional. (stanza 13) This death came at age twenty when Plath attempted suicide for the first time. The speaker in the poem says that this death was meant to be permanent and she did not wish to be reborn. (stanza 13, line 2.) The third and final death was Plath s suicide at age thirty, only a few months after Lady Lazarus was written. In a way, Plath hinted at her worsening mental state through this work. • 19. George Orwell s Animal Farm American Journalist Carl Hiaasen once said, Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a sense of injustice, that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed (www.brainyquote.com). In George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, Orwell fuels his inspiration for the novel from his anger and dislike towards the misuse of governmental power, and the corruption that occurs when the government has too much power. The pigs in this novel represent a government s leaders and the effects of what happens when a government gains too much power and influence over its people. The pigs, especially their leader Napoleon, misuse their power and use it to take advantage of the animal with a lower intelligence level. Orwell satirizes Napoleon by giving him the characteristics of a ruthless dictator who uses education, violence, and rhetoric to control the other animals on the farm. The pigs use rhetoric to convince the animals to adopt Napoleon as their leader and remain loyal to him. The animals on the farm spend their lives being a slave to the farm. Napoleon, however, abuses the animals loyalty, and even though they spend every day of their lives trying to please him, they are never good enough for Napoleon. They are constantly reminded that Bravery is not enough... loyalty and obedience are more important (55). Almost all of the characters in the novel, including the main character, Patrick Bateman, are largely concerned with materialistic possesions and gain, power, and how their superficial appearences appear to others. Patrick Bateman is shaped mostly by the society that he lives in, showing us the superficial and brutal sides of capitalism. It is apparent how Patrick and his colleagues and friends perceive other people who they consider below them and how they perceive themselves. This is evident when Patrick and his friend, Timothy Price are in a cab and spot a beggar on the street and Timothy makes the effort to open the cabs door for him as a joke and then asks the beggar if he takes American Express and snickers, slamming the cab door. • 23. Summary Of Bacchae By Euripides And Oresteia In this paper, I intend to describe the inner working of the household in Greek civilization on three levels: family, city, and cosmos of gods. To achieve this goal, we will look into Bacchae by Euripides, and Oresteia by Aeschylus. Bacchae shows the workings of the house of Cadmus, a royal family, whose actions directly affect their city. This family tree includes a god, and is strongly affected by the will of the cosmos, through Dionysus. Oresteia is a play of three parts. We see the families dysfunctional interactions, and how they impact the city over time. We also see how the gods have an influence on these characters lives throughout the events that happen. Overall these interactions lead to the undermining of Greek civilization through death and destruction. Bacchae is a good example of the three levels of the household. Starting with the level of family we see the flawed family dynamic in the house of Cadmus. Cadmus has four daughters. Semele is the mother of Dionysus, and Agave is the mother of Pentheus. Semele claimed the father of her child was Zeus, but the rest of her family did not believe her tales, calling her a liar. No one in the family, or city for that matter, believed Dionysus status was true, disrespecting him and his followers. Dionysus say Pentheus ...pays no attention to me in his prayers. For that I ll show him I am a true god. (Bacc.46 48) Dionysus does just that, showing them the truth in the worst way possible, enacting his revenge by having Agave unknowingly rip her own son, Pentheus, apart with the help of her sisters. Agave says she d like to go far away from the curse of Kithairon....where there s no display of a thyrus to remind me. (Bacc.1384 1386) She know Dionysus has defeated them, and her son is dead, she wants only to get away from the pain. This royal family is torn apart, murderer, exiled, and turned to serpents at the hands of one of their own relatives because they had no respect for him or his followers. The fact that the family is of royal blood mean what happens to them affects not just the inner workings of the family, but the city state as a whole, or the second level of the household. The window is always left open due to my admiration for the regular sounds that occur outside my building. This location makes me feel comfortable, calm, and upbeat. Not only did I specifically pick out the place and time for this assignment I really aimed to write this while the weatherwas accenting autumn, wet and windy. Nothing is more relaxing than a nice cup of coffee in the comforts of your own bed while the windand rain serenade you. The whole season of fall makes me feel warm and content. Thoreau wrote The indescribable innocence and beneficence of Nature, of the sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter, such health, such cheer, they afford forever! And such sympathy have they ever with our race, that all nature would be affected, and the suns brightness fade, and the winds would sigh humanely, and the clouds rain tears, and the woods shed their leaves and put on mourning in midsummer, if any man should ever for just a cause grieve (Solitude, 110). Within the room itself, I can hear a few distinct sounds around me. A faint melody of jazz can be heard on a radio in the corner. Music helps me focus on whatever work I have for the night. Although I have turned the radio down in order to hear other sounds for this assignment, I can still hear small claps of a beat and an upbeat squeak of some kind of horn. Attached to my curtains are a string of old bells. The wind is picking up today and every time it blows a small gust through my window the curtain moves and the bells dance along it. They soundlike tiny cow bells. The wind has also picked a fight with a small candle on one of my tables. I can hear the flickers of the flame trying to stay lit as well as it possibly can. And of course, the most apparent sound in the room is the tapping and clicking of my laptop keys as I write this. This is due to that fact that the United Nations is able to create a base level in order to look at the major contributors to these issues this can be then simplified as these contributors are the human population. For example, when look at target 14.3 which deals with the eminent of fossil fuels, fossil fuels are cause by production run by humans. Allowing humans to have control over how many fossil fuels they want to eminent on a daily basis. Another example of a target that can be measurable is 14.4 as it deals with the issue of over fishing and the use of fishstocks. This target is measurable as The United Nations is able to measure fish stocks and will be able to measure them ten years from now to see if the laws put in place are positively affecting our worlds oceans. They will be able to check the harvest growth pattern that the fish stocks provide in order to catch illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. There are however targets under The Unites Nations goal that are not measurable this can be seen when looking at targets 14.7,14. a,14. b and 14.c. I believe that these goals are unable to be measured due to that fact for example in 14.7 there is no quantification in dollars or percentages as it is looking at economic benefits of developing states. It entails how strong or weak a person can become, as well as increase or detriment a person s dignity in life. Conceit and Bias is perceived throughout Pride and Prejudice. In the text, Mrs. Bennet illustrates to the audience her prides, by enacting on her one clear goal in life; that is to marry off her daughters to a high end, respectable man. In Asian culture children are required to be obedient and respectful in all cases to their parents (Welty 253). He was a play writer, art critique and a poet. He wanted Obregon to paint this historic scene because he believed that King Tecpancaltzin was one of his ancestors. King Tecpancaltzin is one of the main subjects in this painting. The main story being told in this painting is the story of King Tecpancaltzin receiving the first cup of pulque. Emotion Attribution Theory According To Schachter And Singer Emotion Attribution Theory According to Schachter and Singer (1962), emotion attribution theory is based on two factors of emotions: physiological arousal and cognitive label. The two factor theory of emotion focuses on the interaction between physical arousal and how we cognitively label that arousal. In their view, being away from home and physical arousal may be interpreted as homesickness . The physical arousal is the physical feeling for homesickness such as difficulty sleeping, loss of concentration, no appetite and others. Then, separation is the process of rejecting a dominant culture in order to preserving their original culture. • 34. A Brief Look at Global Warming So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming warmer. But what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t traveling closer to the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more with other rapid moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gasmolecules. As more heat is trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more collisions are present, the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles collide with one another increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects of life. A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to forest fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas molecules are surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric particles which make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions between these different particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the temperature increases as well. As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser and gasses are getting trapped into our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of Globalization In Chindia Is Chindia a friend or a threat We have spent a semester studying the effects of globalization on the world and business from currency exchange to trade policy. Through our discussions and readings, we have learned that globalization is a boon to business as much as it is a curse. In business, strategic alliance agreements help companies further develop process, foster market expansion and surpass competitiors. Although they both exist within the context of society, government and business are two separate entities which share a few features. Governments at even the most basic level exist to protect their citizens interests and to ensure that their needs are being met. While, business can protect the interests of a group or country, their primary reason for existence is to turn profits to satiate their shareholders and validate those who work daily to provide the good/service. However, in order to provide adequately for their citizenry, governments are compelled to think and act a bit more like businesses to ensure that their citizens remain content. India and China are two examples of countries which at least in some areas of federal policy are thinking like businesses and as such has formed, Chindia, what would be called a strategic alliance in business. There is a concept of a machine where you can plug it in and you can live the experience that you desire. You can also program the machine to how long you want to be in it and if you want to get out and reprogram it to however long you want to stay in it. The question is that would you plug it in if there was nothing to worry about in the real world? Those are quantitative and qualitative research. While both approaches become standards for conducting a research, both approaches have major differences in answering research questions and gathering the valid data. Quantitative research can be described as an approach to which it explains a phenomenon expressed in numerical data and analyzed by using mathematically based statistical tools (Aliaga and Gunderson, 2000). As a conclusive research, quantitative research emphasizes what are the causes of the phenomenon, assuming people to have fixed factors to which it causes a phenomenon. Moreover, quantitative approach is more limited, emphasized only on measuring the quantity of phenomenon instead of describing it. Thus, quantitative research has less statistical tools compare to qualitative research. However, it has several advantages such as more time and cost saving. In their experience, they identified tears of the labrum from throwing athletes located anterosuperor near the origin of the bicep tendon. The cause of the lesion to tear was the bicep tendon being pulled off the labrum from the force generated during the throwing motion. With 90 degrees of both abduction and external rotation, the articular surface of the posterior superior rotator cuff becomes pinched between the labrum and the greater tuberosity.5 The authors separated the labral lesions from SLAP lesions which extended anteriorly to the biceps anchor at the supraglenoid tubercle, concluding that internal impingement may be responsible for a subset of patients with isolated posterior SLAP tears.5 Burkhart et. al presented the peel back (posterior superior) mechanism that causes SLAP lesions. The peel back has its origin in a biceps vector change in the position of abduction and external rotation resulting in torsional forces to the labra bicipital complex.6 Once the posterior superior labrum gets fatigued, it will start to rotate medially over the upper rim of the glenoid. That technically means that molly would slowly lose her sight until it is completely gone. When Molly was about 4 years old she lost all her sight. She started to always walk with a white cane. Nagel supports his argument by saying that if he [the man] had not died, he would have continued to live it, and to possess whatever good there is in living (772). He continues to list goods such as perception, desire, activity and thought (769) as he believes that these are the essential elements to a person meaningful life. Though Nagel concedes that the goods he listed entail both joy and misery, as they are also fundamental factors of life, he also believes that a life which has more misery than it does joy is still desirable and should not make death seem like a better option as it ends the misery. His reasoning for this belief is that while a life may have more negative experiences than positive experiences, it is still emphatically positive, (770) as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
