Classroom Introduction

Introduction
Hello fellow classmates, my name is Terry Lee Lockhart
I currently live in Vicksburg, MS
and this is my classroom Introduction.
Place of Birth
First of all, I was born and raised in Kilmichael, MS. I am
the youngest out of 8 siblings. I have three sisters and one
brother that is living.
Family Structure
My family structure consist of my wife Linda of 14 years
and my 10 year old son Christian.
Education
I was educated in the public school system where I was inspired to
continue my education. After graduating from Montgomery County
High School, I enrolled in Delta State University where I graduated with
a Bachelor of Science Degree with a minor in Special Education.
Current Profession
I am currently employed as a Prevention Coordinator with Warren -Yazoo
Mental Health Services in Vicksburg MS. My work duties include
conducting prevention activities with 6th -12th grade students in the
public/private schools, detention centers, and local churches in my school
district. My work experiences also include Elementary School Teacher with
the Jackson Public School District.
Why Special Education
I chose special education as a specialization because I think that this is a
great population of students to work with. Special education is an
important component of educational system today. I’m not sure if I want
return to the classroom as a teacher but in the event that I do, I think that
having a degree in special education would be beneficial in helping me
address the educational need of students with disabilities.
Future Goals
Another one of my future goals include earning my PhD in special education.
Earning a PhD in special education, would provide me with an opportunity to be an
advocate for children with special needs and provide support to educators and
administrators. In looking at my professional expertise that I would be able to share
with my classmates include the knowledge that I have acquired from education and
current and past job experiences.
Interests
My hobbies include traveling and spending time with my
family.
In Conclusion
Well guys this was my introduction and I look forward to
working with each of you over the next six weeks.
