ENGINEERING FIELD EXPERIENCE
Kerr- Greulich Engineers, Louisville, KY Dec 2015 - Jan 2016
Mechanical Design Engineering Intern
Cummins Engine Plant (RMEP), Rocky Mount, NC Jun 2015 - Aug 2015
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
CMTA Consulting Engineers, Lexington KY Jan 2014 - Aug 2014
Mechanical Engineering Co-op (2 Rotations)
ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
 Created a salvage/rework process that will turn around $600,000 worth of defected parts and put
them back into the manufacturing process
 Implemented a vision system that eliminated human error in matching part types and has the
potential to reduce before-in-service (BIS) and warranty loses by $200,000/yr
 Conceived an improved material tagging ticket and led the effort to standardize it across all 6
machining lines thereby saving a projected $150,000/yr
 Designed a fixture that is used to check variations of a critical feature in parts from supplier to catch
potentially expensive defects before they arise
Mechanical Design Engineering Intern
 Increased geothermal system design efficiency by researching vertical closed loop systems and
performing sizing calculations
 Created a Excel program to perform such calculations so as to compare results to commercial design
software to ensure correct assumptions are made and discrepancies easily found
Mechanical Engineering Co-op (2 Rotations)
 Updated mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) models (2D/3D) in AutoCAD or Revit to preserve the
clients existing building features and afterward design a system that best fits the customer’s needs
 Performed system load calculations to ensure system can withstand worst-case conditions and
ASHRAE (international standard) compliance
 Designed full plumbing system and pushed through approval process
 Collaborated with vendors for equipment selection based on design needs and price
 Worked with contractors to ensure accurate installation of equipment per specifications to eliminate
reinstallation cost and safety issues
 Produced record drawings for completed projects to ensure all the addendums made during the
construction process are recorded for reliability and potential future projects
