INDUSTRY PROJECTS EXPERIENCE
1. MacLean Power Systems (3 months) Newberry, SC
Project: Analyze & find root causes to the assembly area inefficiencies and optimize efficiently to meet the needs of the
plant. (Low assembly rate 50% of the plant capacity)
Researched on Plant Processes and layout to identify the root cause of the additional time required for assembly.
Applied Lean Manufacturing techniques and time-motion studies to make process effective increasing productivity
to 180 parts per day i.e. 75% of the plant capacity.
Improved the plant layout by applying 5s, Kanban & Kaizen tools in order to reduce the time required for assembly.
2. Intern, Perfect Engine Components Pvt. Ltd. Pune, India
Objective: Design-Development of Inlet and Exhaust Valve Leakage Testing Machine for an IC Engine
Designed and analyzed the die in the machine which is an exact replica of the valve seat.
Designed using CATIA V5 and implemented robotic gripper mechanism to eliminate faulty valve from the lot.
Implemented safety features such as two hand safety circuit and hooter system in the machine.
Result: The new machine is efficient and increased accuracy to test valves by 30%.
ENGINEERING PROJECTS EXPERIENCE
1. Project: “BAJA SAEINDIA 2014” 2013-2014
Designed chassis of an all-terrain vehicle with ergonomics considerations.
Created CAD model using CATIA V5R20, did stress analysis and FEA tests using ANSYS V14
The Innovative idea of using BETA FOAM 87100-87124 (Rigid Polyurethane Foam) in chassis to reduce weight.
Performed DFMEA, Design Validation on the brake and suspension systems.
Fabricated chassis and sub-assemblies of the vehicle. Assembled, tested and tuned an ATV for the event.
Result: Secured overall rank 13 (out of 325 teams all over India) and 1st
as a Debut Team Performer.
2. Project: “PACE RSMS (Reconfigurable Shared Mobility System) Spring 2016
Designed a vehicle able to share mobility systems with the addition of several reconfigurable features.
Designed and implemented ‘Retractable wheel assembly.’
Used CATIA V5 & NX10 to model the parts to be manufactured during prototype phase.
Fabrication of prototype model in a scale to 3:1.
3. Project: “Product & Venture Design” (Automatic Food-maker) Fall 2015
Applied human-centered design principles to develop automatic food maker for Indian students in the US who
spends 22% of the time on cooking daily.
Developed a prototype of a product and a venture to manufacture & market the product.
Used tools such as Problem Canvas, Product Canvas, Value proposition, Business Model Canvas.
