Changing Our Hearts, Our Habits, and Our Holiness Chapter 4:1-16
We are a household built on Grace – extended to us – extended to others God’s mystery – hidden in the past, revealed at Bethlehem in the Good News – the Gospel. Paul’s Prayer Prayer to have strength and power. Prayer to have Christ in our Hearts Prayer to be Rooted in Love Prayer to Grasp God’s love Prayer to be Filled with the fullness of God. Warning to not Hinder what God wants to do
We have a calling described in the first three chapters: To be the praise of His glory by His choosing and predestination – Eph 1:11-12 To have the eyes of our hearts enlightened to know the hope of his calling – the riches of His inheritance to us and for us – His holy people – Eph 1:18 To be His handiwork to do good works that He prepared, in advance, for us to do – Eph 2:10 To be one new humanity out of the old, fractured one, and that we would be reconciled to Christ – Eph 2:15-16
The calling continued . . . To be built together as one holy temple – where His Spirit will dwell – Eph 2:21 To continually reveal to the rulers and authorities in heavenly realms the multifaceted and manifold wisdom of God – Eph 3:10 To be rooted and established in love – Eph 3:17 To be have the power to grasp the 4D nature of God’s love – Eph 3:18 To know His love that surpasses all Knowledge – Eph 3:19 To allow the power of God that is at work within us to do more than we could ask or imagine – Eph 3:21
Humility – we were undeserving of God’s love and have been raised up – just the same as our brothers and sisters Mercy – God extended to us – we extend to others Gentleness – A fruit of the Spirit that we need when dealing with others Patience – God extends it to us – we extend it to others Burden Bearing – We come along side – not criticise
One Body – the body of Christ extends beyond the doors of this building One Spirit – all of us as believers have been given God’s Holy Spirit in equal measure One Hope – Confident Expectation of Eternal Life guaranteed by the Holy Spirit One Lord – we have only one Sovereign Ruler – no democracy, just obedience One Faith – In Christ alone – no additions One Baptism – we are baptised as an outward sign of an inward death and resurrection. One God – substitutions are not allowed.
