MY HOBBY:READING
My hobby is reading
It helps me
In thought breeding.
It takes me to places
Near and far,
It keeps my rational
Doors ajar.
It teaches me
To cackle and cry
Without wings
It lets me fly.
I wish
If all the children could read,
In constructing a vigorous society,
Then we shall succeed.
- Arunachalam
Chandrashekharan.
SUMMARY
The author says that his hobby was reading . It helps him
to grow and cultivate good thoughts. It takes him to places
which he cannot go. Our dreams can go near and far .
Reading makes him to take both happiness and sorrow in
the same spirit. It teaches him to laugh loudly when he was
in happy times and to cry and to let out sorrow during
painful times. Without wings reading allows as to fly .He
wished that if all the children could read thus we can build
a dynamic , strong and powerful society . Thus we can
reach the pinnacle in our lives.

FIRE WORK NIGHTS
FIRE WORK NIGHTBANG
What's that?
Bang-Bang! Oh, Hark,
The guns are shooting in the dark!
Little guns and big ones too,
Bang–bang-bang!
What shall I do?
Mistress, Master, hear me yelp,
I'm out-of-doors, I want your help.
Let me in-oh, LET ME IN
Before those fi reworks begin
To shoot again-I can't bear that; My tail is down my ears are flat
I'm trembling here outside the door,
Oh, don't you love me anymore?

BANG!
I think I'll die with fright
Unless you let me in to-night.
(Shall we let him in, children?)
Ah, now the door is opened wide,
I'm rushing through, I'm safe inside,
The lights are on, it's warm and
grand-mistress, let me lick your hand
Before I slip behind the couch.
There I'll hide myself and crouch
In safety till the BANGS are done . Then to my kennel I will run
And guard you safely all the night
Because you understood my fright.
-by Enid Blyton
SUMMARY
This particular poem focuses on a dog being scared by the fireworks on Bonfire Night.
Blyton was a great lover of animals so this poem is from the dog’s point of view at
being left outside on bonfire night. So just a friendly reminder and warning to all you
out there with pets;
Please remember to bring your pets inside tonight and make them feel safe and
secure!
Happy Bonfire night all!

MAKING LIFE WORTHWHILE
GEORGE ELIOT
Every soul that touches yours—
Be it the slightest contact—
Get there from some good;
Some little grace; one kindly thought;
One aspiration yet unfelt;
One bit of courage
For the darkening sky;
One gleam of faith
To brave the thickening ills of life;
One glimpse of brighter skies—
To make this life worthwhile
And heaven a surer heritage.
SUMMARY
There are people whose kindness touches our hearts . Their souls may touch our
soul . It may be a gentle touch . But even the slightest touch brings us all goodness .
People may be merciful to us . They may have thoughts filled with kindness . We
might not have felt about their desires or wishes . There may be some courage to
make us bold . When the sky grows dark we are filled with fear . There should be
someone to give us courage . As life goes on miseries and misfortunes increase in
number . To confront them we need a glitter of faith . A look at the bright sky fills us
with courage and confidence . It encourages us and makes our life worth living . The
sight of the sky is an inheritance of bravery to face the ills of earthly life.

A THING OF BEAUTY
JOHN KEATS
A thing of beauty is a joy forever
Its loveliness increases, it will never
Pass into nothingness; but will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o’er-darkened ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old, and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
‘Gainst the hot season; the mid forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms;
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
All lovely tales that we have heard or read;
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven’s brink
SUMMARY
A beautiful thing is a source of endless joy. It has eternal beauty . This beauty never
fades away . A beauty thing is like a shelter . It gives us a sleep full of sweet dreams ,
health and relaxation . Every day we make a garland of flowers . They are traps that
bind us to the materialistic things . These bindings keep us away from eternal
happiness . They make our spirits dark and dull . The beautiful things of nature can
remove the blankets of gloom from us . Young trees and old trees spread their
branches and provide shade for the sheep . They fill us with joy . The small streams
that trickle by provide is with cool water . They make us cool . The forests which are
full of the pretty musk rose flowers are a beautiful sight to the eye . All these are
things of beauty . These beautiful things of nature are like a fountain of immortality
bestowed upon us by God . They inspire us to live on and maintain our faith in
goodness.

SPECIAL HERO
CHRISTINA M KERSCHEN
POEM
When I was a baby,
you would hold me in your arms.
I felt the love and tenderness,
keeping me safe from harm would look up into your eyes,
and all the love I would see.
How did I get so lucky,
you were the dad chosen for me. There is something special
about a father's love.
Seems it was sent to me
from someplace up above. Our love is everlasting,
I just wanted you to know.
That you're my special hero
and I wanted to tell you so.
SUMMARY
The poem is about the fathers love towards a child . The poet describes her fathers
love and care towards her . When she was a baby , he held her in his arms . She felt his
love and kindness . He always kept her safe from harm . She was able to experience
his love for her in his eyes . She felt that she was lucky that he was the dad chosen for
her . There was something special about the fathers love . She thought that he was
sent to her from heaven . She just wanted him to know that their love lats forever .
She wanted to tell him that he was her special hero .

Ah, now the door is opened wide, I'm rushing through, I'm safe inside, The lights are on, it's warm and grand-mistress, let me lick your hand Before I slip behind the couch. There I'll hide myself and crouch In safety till the BANGS are done . Then to my kennel I will run And guard you safely all the night Because you understood my fright. -by Enid Blyton

Every soul that touches yours— Be it the slightest contact— Get there from some good; Some little grace; one kindly thought; One aspiration yet unfelt; One bit of courage For the darkening sky; One gleam of faith To brave the thickening ills of life; One glimpse of brighter skies— To make this life worthwhile And heaven a surer heritage.
  • 14. SUMMARY There are people whose kindness touches our hearts . Their souls may touch our soul . It may be a gentle touch . But even the slightest touch brings us all goodness . People may be merciful to us . They may have thoughts filled with kindness . We might not have felt about their desires or wishes . There may be some courage to make us bold . When the sky grows dark we are filled with fear . There should be someone to give us courage . As life goes on miseries and misfortunes increase in number . To confront them we need a glitter of faith . A look at the bright sky fills us with courage and confidence . It encourages us and makes our life worth living . The sight of the sky is an inheritance of bravery to face the ills of earthly life.

  • 16. A THING OF BEAUTY JOHN KEATS
  • 17. A thing of beauty is a joy forever Its loveliness increases, it will never Pass into nothingness; but will keep A bower quiet for us, and a sleep Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing. Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing A flowery band to bind us to the earth, Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth Of noble natures, of the gloomy days, Of all the unhealthy and o’er-darkened ways Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all, Some shape of beauty moves away the pall From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon, Trees old, and young, sprouting a shady boon

For simple sheep; and such are daffodils With the green world they live in; and clear rills That for themselves a cooling covert make ‘Gainst the hot season; the mid forest brake, Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms; And such too is the grandeur of the dooms We have imagined for the mighty dead; All lovely tales that we have heard or read; An endless fountain of immortal drink, Pouring unto us from the heaven’s brink

  • 22. POEM When I was a baby, you would hold me in your arms. I felt the love and tenderness, keeping me safe from harm would look up into your eyes, and all the love I would see. How did I get so lucky, you were the dad chosen for me. There is something special about a father's love. Seems it was sent to me from someplace up above. Our love is everlasting, I just wanted you to know. That you're my special hero and I wanted to tell you so.
