The EPA held public meetings in Anchorage, Dillingham, and Naknek, Alaska on June 4th and 5th to gather comments on its draft watershed assessment of the Bristol Bay region. Hundreds attended the Anchorage meeting at the University of Alaska Anchorage's auditorium, with about half being critical of the EPA assessment. Similar sized crowds gathered in Dillingham and Naknek, with many residents wearing shirts expressing support for Bristol Bay and opposition to mining in the region. The EPA recorded all the meetings to collect comments on their draft watershed assessment.
