Marketing, Funding, & Partnerships for STEM in LibrariesJennifer Hopwood
This document provides tips for libraries on marketing, funding, and partnerships for STEM programs. It recommends doing research on the community, providing examples of successful STEM programs, and engaging the community in program development. Potential sources of funding include donations, grants from organizations like IMLS, sponsorships, crowdfunding, and beta testing. Partnerships with schools can extend reach, allow for project collaboration, and share resources. An effective elevator speech should be brief, engaging, and motivating rather than a sales pitch.

Digital Content Connect at Harvard: Margot Bloomstein - Content Strategy Make...nilagia
The document discusses how content strategy can help organizations better achieve their communication goals by planning and governing their content creation and distribution. It provides examples of how content strategy was used at Furman University and The Jackson Laboratory to align their content with key messaging priorities and audience needs. The document advocates doing a content audit to understand what content already exists and where gaps are, and then prioritizing content types and channels that fit the organization's defined communication goals.
The document outlines seven key steps for successful partnerships between school libraries and public libraries: 1) having shared goals and vision, 2) formal planning, 3) open communication, 4) ongoing evaluation, 5) commitment from decision makers and staff, 6) adequate funding, and 7) understanding patrons. It also provides examples of potential partnership activities like joint programming, collections sharing, and professional development opportunities.
Every community, regardless of size or location, has businesses, organizations, and institutions with global connections that can support a school’s mission. A globally focused school intentionally engages, cultivates, and nurtures partnerships with these community stakeholders to build its capacity to deliver high quality global learning opportunities for youth. In this workshop, participants will learn about the important role of community partners in the Global School Design Model and new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA); how to identify and initiate work with community partners that align with the school’s goals; and strategies for cultivating and nurturing mutually beneficial partnerships. We will also share examples of successful school-community partnerships to spark discussion and potential approaches that can be adapted at participants’ own schools or districts.
The document outlines ways that EVAAS data can be used to support districts and schools. It suggests that EVAAS can be used to identify trends, guide professional development, target resources, determine if students are growing, assign students to teachers who are most effective, and leverage teacher success to benefit current students. All of these strategies aim to close achievement gaps and accelerate academic growth.

Sue Halsey's research found that incorporating emerging technologies like the internet, podcasts, digital cameras, blogs, and class websites into primary classrooms can enhance students' reading, writing, speaking, listening and editing skills. These technologies give students an authentic purpose to be more thoughtful in their writing when they know it will be published online for an internet audience including their parents. Halsey's research is based on her experience using emerging technologies in her own primary classroom.
The document envisions the future of education in 2020, 2050, and 3000. In 2020, many schools have interactive boards instead of blackboards, and there are more creative and elective courses. By 2050, augmented reality glasses will be used in education. And by 3000, chip technology and intelligent robots will be integrated into education.

ALA 2017 - High-Impact Events to Foster CollaborationNCIL - STAR_Net
The document discusses high-impact STEM events organized by the STAR_Net project to foster collaboration. Over 1.5 million patrons have visited STAR_Net exhibitions and over 150,000 have attended their programs. Key events highlighted include the 2017 solar eclipse event and the upcoming Project BUILD in Fall 2017. Strategic focus areas include public library infrastructure, rural audiences, and connections to NASA professionals. Upcoming national events and resources for libraries rotating between stations on NASA mission events, International Observe the Moon Night 2017, and Earth Day 2018 are also mentioned.
The document provides an overview of a staff development day presentation focusing on innovation in libraries. It discusses how libraries must adapt to changing user needs and expectations around areas like content format, search, and devices. Libraries are encouraged to focus on strategic priorities and partnerships that add value for users and communities through experiences like educational opportunities and programs. The presentation emphasizes the need for libraries to be open to change, new ideas, and removing barriers in order to better serve users in the future.
Stephen Abram gave a presentation on how libraries need to engage learners and communities to ensure success. He argued that libraries must shift their focus from content delivery to improving the learning experience. Specifically, he stated that libraries should focus on transformational services, strategic alignment with education, and building lifelong learning competencies among patrons. Abram also urged libraries to form partnerships, understand community needs, and scale up impactful programs to remain relevant in a changing environment dominated by new formats, devices, and learning styles.
The Worthington Libraries marketing plan aims to increase awareness and usage of their foreign language electronic resources. The plan focuses on engaging teens through collaboration with local schools and businesses. Goals include raising awareness of library services, boosting usage of online language programs by 10%, and enhancing staff knowledge of resources. Tactics center on print and online promotion, outreach to educators, and programming partnerships. The plan seeks to position the library as the top provider of language learning support through an interactive online and in-person experience.
This document summarizes strategies for academic libraries to remain relevant. It recommends conducting needs assessments to prioritize programs and services. Libraries should offer programs beyond just text, and partner with other organizations to create scalable and sustainable initiatives. Libraries need to offer more educational opportunities and credentials by partnering with outside institutions. They should grow digital collections and integrate virtual and physical services. Libraries also need to promote themselves more and offer services online as well as in-person.
Presented as part of my introduction to social media for the Wellesley Institute, Tactical Toolkit provides a number of ways that non-profit organizations can access tools for engagement, campaigns, and making the most of the online space.
Stephen Abram presented at the Slovenian Library Association Congress on library advocacy in the 21st century. He argued that libraries must shift their focus from content delivery to improving user experiences and questions. Libraries will need to support diverse learners, both digital and physical content, and new formats like video and graphics. Librarians should focus on transformational services aligned with curriculum. Libraries must partner with others, focus on impact, and demonstrate their value through analytics and measures of economic and strategic alignment.
This document discusses ways for public libraries to remain relevant by better serving their communities. It recommends that libraries focus on assessing community needs, prioritizing initiatives that are specific and time-bound. Libraries should look for partnerships that add value and align collections with programs. They should also offer educational opportunities beyond just books and focus on building sustainable, scalable programs. The document suggests libraries understand their patrons across all age groups and develop a strong brand beyond just information. Overall, it provides strategies for libraries to invest strategically and measure their impact on their communities.
This presentation provides an overview of YALSA's report, "The Future of Library Services for and with Teens: a Call to Action," and discusses opportunities that the report presents for libraries to increase their impact and visibility.

It highlights a 40% increase in programs across various topics that provided local and global perspectives. The library also increased its collections in various media by 25-30% and expanded its technology offerings and webpage to help patrons find work, education, and entertainment. The library improved staff development and marketing efforts to raise funding and awareness of library resources.
Social Media: What is it and what’s in it for my library? Presentation to Ver...vtrural
This document summarizes a presentation about using social media for libraries. It discusses what social media is and why libraries should invest in a social media strategy. A social media strategy involves defining goals and audiences, choosing appropriate platforms and content, and providing examples of campaigns libraries can run on social media. Specific platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and websites are examined with suggestions for how libraries can use them. Peer examples from local Vermont libraries are also presented.
The document discusses online and informal learning. It provides examples of popular online learning methods like YouTube and social media. A survey found that people use a mix of online and offline learning methods, with most spending 1-2 hours online per week. However, lack of time is a barrier. The document promotes the Learning Pool online learning platform as a low-cost option for organizations to provide training anytime through e-learning courses and a learning management system. It allows users to track progress and create custom content.

Gamify it until you make it Improving Agile Development and Operations with ...Ben Linders
So many challenges, so little time. While we’re busy developing software and keeping it operational, we also need to sharpen the saw, but how? Gamification can be a way to look at how you’re doing and find out where to improve. It’s a great way to have everyone involved and get the best out of people.
In this presentation, Ben Linders will show how playing games with the DevOps coaching cards can help to explore your current development and deployment (DevOps) practices and decide as a team what to improve or experiment with.
The games that we play are based on an engagement model. Instead of imposing change, the games enable people to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their collective needs.
By playing games, you can learn from each other. Teams can use games, exercises, and coaching cards to discuss values, principles, and practices, and share their experiences and learnings.
Different game formats can be used to share experiences on DevOps principles and practices and explore how they can be applied effectively. This presentation provides an overview of playing formats and will inspire you to come up with your own formats.

1.) Introduction
Our Movement is not new; it is the same as it was for Freedom, Justice, and Equality since we were labeled as slaves. However, this movement at its core must entail economics.
2.) Historical Context
This is the same movement because none of the previous movements, such as boycotts, were ever completed. For some, maybe, but for the most part, it’s just a place to keep your stable until you’re ready to assimilate them into your system. The rest of the crabs are left in the world’s worst parts, begging for scraps.
3.) Economic Empowerment
Our Movement aims to show that it is indeed possible for the less fortunate to establish their economic system. Everyone else – Caucasian, Asian, Mexican, Israeli, Jews, etc. – has their systems, and they all set up and usurp money from the less fortunate. So, the less fortunate buy from every one of them, yet none of them buy from the less fortunate. Moreover, the less fortunate really don’t have anything to sell.
4.) Collaboration with Organizations
Our Movement will demonstrate how organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Urban League, Black Lives Matter, and others can assist in creating a much more indestructible Black Wall Street.
5.) Vision for the Future
Our Movement will not settle for less than those who came before us and stopped before the rights were equal. The economy, jobs, healthcare, education, housing, incarceration – everything is unfair, and what isn’t is rigged for the less fortunate to fail, as evidenced in society.
6.) Call to Action
Our movement has started and implemented everything needed for the advancement of the economic system. There are positions for only those who understand the importance of this movement, as failure to address it will continue the degradation of the people deemed less fortunate.
No, this isn’t Noah’s Ark, nor am I a Prophet. I’m just a man who wrote a couple of books, created a magnificent website: http://www.thearkproject.llc, and who truly hopes to try and initiate a truly sustainable economic system for deprived people. We may not all have the same beliefs, but if our methods are tried, tested, and proven, we can come together and help others. My website: http://www.thearkproject.llc is very informative and considerably controversial. Please check it out, and if you are afraid, leave immediately; it’s no place for cowards. The last Prophet said: “Whoever among you sees an evil action, then let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then, with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith.” [Sahih Muslim] If we all, or even some of us, did this, there would be significant change. We are able to witness it on small and grand scales, for example, from climate control to business partnerships. I encourage, invite, and challenge you all to support me by visiting my website.
