• The unification of Community radios and telecentres gave birth to
Community Multimedia Centers (CMCs).
– Community radio is a radio that broadcasts in local languages, with coverage not
higher than 100 Km.
– The telecentre part provides ICT training (word, excel, power point, Access, Internet).
Objectives:
– Involve local community in the design of a convivial tool for tourism;
– Promote tourism at national and international level;
– Provide to the CMC capabilities to address community needs;
• A convivial tool is a solution that allows communities to invest their
time to enrich the environment with the fruits of their creativity (sanders,

Conclusions
• This case study explored the implications of a co-design approach aiming
at creating a community e-tourism solution in a developing economy.
• The B&B received financial benefits from providing information about
services provided.
• The B&B hosted 19 % travellers who declared the community website as
main source of information.
• Responses to the questionnaire reflect the diversity of travellers, but it is
unequal when compared to website visitors.
Good Morning;
MY name is salomao david i‘m a phd student here at the university of lugano;
And i will present a case study performed in Mozambique, this study is part of a research project called RE-ACT social presentation of community multimedia centres, a project that aimed at studying and conceptualizing the perception of communities about the use and capabilities of community multimedia centers;
The ilha de mozambique is located at the northern province of nampula, was once the capital of mozambique several years ago;
Today the island is a world heritage site due to his estorical, cultural and exoctic characteristics; Its an inland mostly done with straw and stone.
It has the oldes fortress in the sub-saharan Africa, still working, it has the most oldest chapel in the region.
The island main bussines today is tourism;
But they have several problems to
1- The island has several B&B
2- No information online about the island;
3-No information about how to get there or local events;
4- The community multimedia center is completely detached from the community or local bussiness,
is unable to provide services with inherent value to the community.
