- 7. STEP 1 Prepare your tools http://www.mountainview.gov/city_hall/library/ebooks.asp i. Visit the Library eBook page to download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) ii. Install ADE on your computer iii. Sign up for an Adobe ID* iv. Login to ADE and authorize your computer v. Connect your Nook to your computer
- 9. Link will take you to Adobe site. http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/ CLICK TO START THE DOWNLOAD
- 10. On your computer: Install ADE Create an Adobe ID if Log in using the Adobe ID you do not have one Authorize your computer
- 11. Connect your Nook to your computer using the USB cable
- 12. STEP 2 Search for eBooks using your computer i. Go to the Library eBook page, and click on Overdrive ii. Log into your Overdrive account iii. Search for title/titles to download and read iv. Add to Book Bag & confirm checkout v. Download & select “Open with” using ADE
- 13. Go to Library eBook page & click on the Overdrive link On your computer: Log in to your account using your library card number
- 14. Search for titles Search by: Quick Search Advanced Search Browse Collections Browse by Format
- 15. Choose the format that works on your device Add to Book Bag
- 16. Confirm Checkout Download
- 17. Open with Adobe Digital Editions
- 18. STEP 3 Sit back &enjoy reading on your Nook! On ADE: Click on “All Items” and select/drag the eBook to “My Nook”* Authorize device On your Nook: Search for the eBook, or go to My Nook – Digital Editions folder Start Reading!

- 20. On your Nook, search for the title of the item or look in My Nook – Digital Editions folder

Things to Remember Toreturn an item: Go to ADE on your computer and click on return item On your Nook: Delete item Nook-compatible formats: Adobe EPUB & PDF and Open EPUB & PDF You have 3 days to checkout holds placed on Overdrive from the date the email notification was sent You can customize lending periods to 7, 14 or 21 days

- The share of adults in the United States who own tablet computers nearly doubled from 10% to 19% between mid-December and early January and the same surge in growth also applied to e-book readers, which also jumped from 10% to 19% over the same time period. The number of Americans owning at least one of these digital reading devices jumped from 18% in December to 29% in January.
