T
In this interview you work to understand another human
being by developing a receptive and welcoming attitude toward your interviewee. You
will review the principles of CMM as you understand them, keeping in mind that this
interview is designed to help you create a positive social world with another person who is
different from you. Two things to keep in mind from CMM are to listen in a way that makes
others want to speak to you, and to speak in a way that makes others want to listen to
you.
You will also make use of Politeness Theory as you speak and listen in such a way as to
maintain the “face” of another human being, that is, the self-respect that person has for
him or herself and treating that person with dignity. Recognize that we all want to be
liked, admired, appreciated and approved. Respond to the other with empathy and
compassion.
Work toward having that “authentic dialog” mentioned by Paolo Freire. This means
regarding the other person as a genuine subject. Finally, you will complete the “praxis” as
Freire defines it, by not only acting through the interview, but by reflecting upon it at the
conclusion.

2. In reviewing your life, is it possible to find key
moments that stand out as turning points for you.

this in detail. What happened, where and when
did it happen, who was involved, and what were
you thinking and feeling? What does this memory
say about your life?
4. Vivid adult memory. Please identify one memory
that you have had as an adult, something
memorable or vivid that happened to you in your
adult years. Please describe this in detail.
5. Wisdom event. Find an event in your life where you
displayed wisdom. This could be a time in which
you acted or interacted in an especially wise way
or provided wise counsel, or advice, made a wide
decision or otherwise behaved in a wise manner.

SXSW - Diving Deep: Best Practices For Interviewing UsersSteve Portigal
While we know, from a very young age, how to ask questions, the skill of getting the right information from users is surprisingly complex and nuanced. This session will focus on getting past the obvious shallow information into the deeper, more subtle, yet crucial, insights. If you are going to the effort to meet with users in order to improve your designs, it's essential that you know how to get the best information and not leave insights behind. Being great in "field work" involves understanding and accepting your interviewee's world view, and being open to what they need to tell you (in addition to what you already know you want to learn). We'll focus on the importance of rapport-building and listening and look at techniques for both. We will review different types of questions, and why you need to have a range of question types. This session will explore other contextual research methods that can be built on top of interviewing in a seamless way. We'll also suggest practice exercises for improving your own interviewing skills and how to engage others in your organization successfully in the interviewing experience.
A Framework for Implementation
03 June 2009 - National End of Life Care Programme / NHS Kidney Care
A group of people with life-limiting conditions, and those who have experienced the death of a loved person, came together to discuss their involvement with people who had the task of supporting those approaching the end of life.
Through these discussions 'Finding the Words', the DVD and work book were developed to help staff in their conversations and care.

If you are a professional or parent or individual struggling to find balance and set boundaries, this is for you!
More will follow shortly, I hope you enjoy reading it and that you find some of the information helpful.
If you've ever hit a brick wall when it comes to building confidence, I know the feeling. It feels like everyone has all this self belief about who they are, what they do, what they know - and even though you may know more, you don't have the confidence to back it up.
Regardless of whether you want more dates, more success in your career or business, or confidence with strangers, this guide will show you how to get it.
As a self help junkie, I had compiled years worth of research, and turned it into a single, convenient 30 day program.
30 Days To Confidence covers a broad range of topics, covering everything from self esteem, goal setting, building confidence, achieving success, and related self help and self improvement topics. Download it today.

· When you answer, please write a serious paragraph or two in reponse. If your answer is only a few lines or sentences, you're not thinking deeply enough.
· Include at least ONE properly cited source to help strengthen your answer. to test the appropriateness of your source(s).
· Try to let me know in you read
The Madman, linked at the top of the Unit 3 folder.
Prompt: After reading
The Madman, and studying Friedrich Nietzsche, explain two things: 1) Explain at least one thing that is different about your worldview because you either believe in God, or do not believe in God (in a somewhat traditional sense), and 2) Explain how society would be different if it held your view (either God, or not-God).
This could be something about your ethics, your politics, your social ideology, or the way you choose to live your life. Try to get beyond, "I go to church" or "I don't go to church." Think about your life, your choices, your values. Which ones are rooted in God, or not-God? And how would holding that view affect society if everyone agreed with you?

Interview and Transcription
I interviewed three people through online channels; two are friends who follow the female biological clock and are my longtime friends in junior studies, and one is a parent who lets her daughter track the female biological clock. The data from the interview will help view life from other people’s description and their way of thinking and how to encourage the observance of the female "biological" clock to balance between being a mother and having a career.
1.In what way has following the female biological clock impacted your life?
Zunshu Hu: My improved health is a direct result of my growing appreciation for and awareness of the intricate workings of my body.
Ping Li: Even though my ovarian reserve is low, I can monitor my fertility curve by checking my anti-Mullerian hormone levels.
Li's Mother: I always encourage my daughter to follow the biological clock because it helps improve our health; we need to learn about and appreciate the processes by which our body operates.
2. When someone describes the following biological clock as “primitive,” how does that make you feel?
Zunshu Hu: I feel that the per.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
