are action words or also known as
verbs. Verbs are the action words in
sentence that describe what the
subject is doing.
5. Mae eats her dinner quickly.
In the sentence above, the verb is the word “eats”. It means that the
action performed by Mae, who is the subject of the sentence, is “eats”
her dinner.

6. John visits the zoo.
For this example, the verb is the word “visits”. It means that
the action performed by John is “visits”.

7. Discussion
You can figure out and locate the verbs in a
sentence by asking, “what did this person or
thing do?” In the second sentence, you can see
that John is our subject. If we ask, “What did John
do?” then we can see that he went somewhere,
specifically the zoo.
