PART A
Answer all the questions 10 x 2 = 20Marks
1. Print the content given below in freehand, single stroke, vertical letters
having 10 mm height and list the guidelines for lettering.
“ENGINEERING GRAPHICS”
2. A line of length 2 cm is drawn on the drawing sheet to represent an
actual length of 1 m. Then the Scale is
a) 50:1 c) 1:50
b) 1:1 d) 1:2
3. Match the following.
Visible outlines or edges
Dimension line
Break line
hidden outlines and hidden edges
4. 15
30
10
60
Draw the above diagram and do the correct way of dimensioning using
(i) Aligned system (ii) Unidirectional system.
5. Construct a regular hexagon having length of side equal to 30 mm by
using exterior angle method.
6. Steps are given to draw tangent and normal to the involute of a circle
(centre is C) at a point N on it. Rearrange the given steps in correct
sequence.
i. With CN as diameter describe a semi-circle cutting the circle at M.
ii. Draw a line joining C and N.
iii. Draw a line perpendicular to NM and passing through N which is
tangent.
iv. Draw a line through N and M. This line is normal.
7. For the Point A, the top view is 50 mm above ‘xy’ line and the front view
is 25 mm above the top view. State the quadrant in which the point is
situated. Draw its projections.
8. Illustrate with a neat sketch the transverse axis and conjugate axis.
9. If an object is placed in 3rd quadrant such that one of the surfaces of object
is coinciding with vertical plane, in which view the object touches the
reference line? What will be the position of HP and VP?
10. A 50 mm long line CD is positioned in such a way that it is perpendicular
to VP and the end D is 15 mm in front of VP and 40 mm above HP. Draw
its projections.
PART B
Answer all the questions 2 x 15= 30 Marks
11. A circular wheel of 50 mm diameter rolls on another fixed wheel of 100
mm radius and above it for one complete revolution of the rolling wheel.
Draw the curve traced by a point on the circumference of rolling wheel
which is initially situated at common contact between the wheels.
Name the curve and draw tangent and normal to the curve.
12. The top view of the line PQ is 60 mm long and makes 60° with xy line.
The end Q is 10 mm in front of VP and 25 mm above HP. The difference
between the distance of P and Q above HP is 45 mm. draw the projection
of the line and find its true inclinations and true length.
