Informative Texts
Example 1
The Grand Canyon is a vast, breathtaking natural
wonder located in Arizona, USA. Its layered rock
formations display vibrant shades of red, orange,
and brown, carved by the Colorado River over
millions of years. The canyon stretches for 277
miles and reaches depths of over a mile, offering
visitors stunning panoramic views and a glimpse
into Earth’s geological history.
Description because the paragraph paints a
vivid picture using sensory details
Example 2
Deforestation has a major impact on the
environment. When trees are cut down in large
numbers, carbon dioxide levels increase because
fewer trees are available to absorb it. This
contributes to global warming, which leads to rising
temperatures, extreme weather patterns, and habitat
destruction for many species.
Cause and Effect because the paragraph explains
how deforestation leads to environmental
consequences.
Example 3
Plastic pollution is a growing environmental
problem, harming marine life and polluting
ecosystems. One solution is to reduce plastic waste
by using reusable bags, bottles, and containers.
Governments can also enforce stricter regulations
on plastic production and encourage recycling
programs to minimize plastic waste.
Problem-Solution because the paragraph
presents a problem and suggests solutions
Example 4
Writing an informative essay involves several key
steps. First, choose a topic and conduct research to
gather reliable information. Next, organize your
ideas into an outline with an introduction, body
paragraphs, and a conclusion. Then, write the first
draft, ensuring clarity and factual accuracy. Finally,
revise and edit your work to improve coherence and
correctness before submitting the final version.
Sequence because the paragraph explains a
sequence of steps in order.
Instructions: Find a partner. I'll be giving different topics/titles of text, and you

problem and solution, cause and effect or a sequence.
