QUALIFYING THE HOT LEAD
• We want to focus on closing nuclear plants and other energy plants as a whole.
• Somerset coal and fossil fuel is expected to shut down in 2017. (Main focus)
• We need to contact and see selling possibilities of future plants
• First people need to be educated about the product and its possibilities
SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths:
• Little upfront cost for existing retrofitted
reactors
• Very potent and sustainable material
• Little to no waste; can greatly reduce waste
• Improved safety (will not melt down
explosively)
• Cannot be directly made into a weapon
Weaknesses:
• New product, needs further development
• R&D must be invested into true thorium
reactors rather than retrofitted reactors
• Uneducated clientele
Opportunities:
• Educate consumer about thorium
• Buy out existing or closing reactors
• Plan to competitively price vs. other power
options
Threats:
• Barrier to entry (coal, solar, hydro companies)
• Unknown substance to the public
• New regulations may need to be put in place to
use thorium
• Is associated with uranium, which is used for
weapons
PEST ANALYSIS
Political:
• Substantial thorium deposits are found in
Australia, Brazil, Turkey, Norway, China, India
and the United States so we would not have to
search outside US for thorium
• Policies need to be made to make sure it is used
properly
Economic:
• Inexpensive, emissions-free power needs
• Less waste so no need for million dollar
containment facilities
Socio-cultural:
• Little possibility of a containment breech or
explosion.
• A lot less radiation than uranium, safer for
environment & people
Technological:
• So advanced that we are able to switch over
plants with ease
• Plants are able to work almost by themselves
with little maintenance

IDENTIFYING THE FINANCIALS
• Current operating costs for a 1 gigawatt plant: 80 million, can be decreased to 5 million per year with automation
methods, and decreased to 1 million per year or less when widely adopted.
• One KG of uranium oxide reactor fuel” 1633$/KG vs. One KG of thorium $5,000
• Once thorium is demanded and mined in masses it can drop to 10$/KG
• Global deposits of thorium:

• • 300,000 Australia
• • 170,000 Norway
• • 160,000 United States
• • 100,000 Canada
• • 35,000 South Africa
• • 16,000 Brazil
• • 95,000 Others
IDENTIFYING THE TECHNICAL/SPECIFICATION
• Thorium is 300x more potent and 4x more available on earth vs uranium
• Can be retro fitted for existing reactors
• Does not need to be cleaned nearly as much uranium plants
• Little to no waste vs. uranium, any waste that is given off has a half-life of 500 years vs. a half-life of
10,000 with uranium
IDENTIFYING THE EXECUTIVE & USER
Executive
• “Building a 1-gigawatt uranium plant today costs
about $1.1 billion. Building a 1-gigawatt thorium
plant will cost only about $250 million, or less,
because meltdown concerns can be tossed out
the window.”
• Thorium reactors could become much more
profitable than nuclear ever could have been.
• Company image looks much better switching to
an alternative source of energy
User
• Much cheaper power then current sources, can
drop as low as 1 cent per kilowatt
• No need to install any additional equipment, so
no upfront cost for customer or leasing plan
• Needs very little attendance

METHODS & TYPES OF BUYING
Methods of Buying Quantity/Quality
• Contract buying- We want to sells large
quantities to cities and towns which would
require a contract
• Buying by tender- In competition with other
forms of energy
• Buying by Inspection- We will need to find a
buyer that is willing to work with us and the
product
Types of Buying
• Concentrated- Not a lot of thorium
distributers/prospectors
• Need to find and develop a relationship with a
distributor or distributors
FEAR, UNCERTAINTY & DOUBT
• Fears-Initial start up costs and peoples willingness to give it a chance
• Uncertainties- Public reaction, finding enough plants willing to change over
• Doubts- Adoption of this energy process, and getting this idea off the ground
BUNKER ADJUSTMENT FACTOR
• Very little to no transportation costs
• Thorium is relatively small, can be made into bundles of wire or sheets
• Thorium is reusable
MARKETING MIX
• Product- Thorium which is an alternative energy form (intangible)
• Price- Initially expensive but in the long term expenses will deplete
• Placement- Initially summerset, but looking to prospect other plant locations
• Promotion- Advertise eco-friendly, lower costs and safer all around
PEOPLE & PACKAGING
• Less employees because some of plant can run itself
• Less security (theft)
• Packaging's primary purpose is to show that we are eco-friendly and separate us from other
competitors

  • 2. QUALIFYING THE HOT LEAD • We want to focus on closing nuclear plants and other energy plants as a whole. • Somerset coal and fossil fuel is expected to shut down in 2017. (Main focus) • We need to contact and see selling possibilities of future plants • First people need to be educated about the product and its possibilities
  • 3. SWOT ANALYSIS Strengths: • Little upfront cost for existing retrofitted reactors • Very potent and sustainable material • Little to no waste; can greatly reduce waste • Improved safety (will not melt down explosively) • Cannot be directly made into a weapon Weaknesses: • New product, needs further development • R&D must be invested into true thorium reactors rather than retrofitted reactors • Uneducated clientele Opportunities: • Educate consumer about thorium • Buy out existing or closing reactors • Plan to competitively price vs. other power options Threats: • Barrier to entry (coal, solar, hydro companies) • Unknown substance to the public • New regulations may need to be put in place to use thorium • Is associated with uranium, which is used for weapons

PEST ANALYSIS Political: • Substantial thorium deposits are found in Australia, Brazil, Turkey, Norway, China, India and the United States so we would not have to search outside US for thorium • Policies need to be made to make sure it is used properly Economic: • Inexpensive, emissions-free power needs • Less waste so no need for million dollar containment facilities Socio-cultural: • Little possibility of a containment breech or explosion. • A lot less radiation than uranium, safer for environment & people Technological: • So advanced that we are able to switch over plants with ease • Plants are able to work almost by themselves with little maintenance

IDENTIFYING THE FINANCIALS • Current operating costs for a 1 gigawatt plant: 80 million, can be decreased to 5 million per year with automation methods, and decreased to 1 million per year or less when widely adopted. • One KG of uranium oxide reactor fuel” 1633$/KG vs. One KG of thorium $5,000 • Once thorium is demanded and mined in masses it can drop to 10$/KG • Global deposits of thorium: • • 360,000 India • • 300,000 Australia • • 170,000 Norway • • 160,000 United States • • 100,000 Canada • • 35,000 South Africa • • 16,000 Brazil • • 95,000 Others

IDENTIFYING THE TECHNICAL/SPECIFICATION • Thorium is 300x more potent and 4x more available on earth vs uranium • Can be retro fitted for existing reactors • Does not need to be cleaned nearly as much uranium plants • Little to no waste vs. uranium, any waste that is given off has a half-life of 500 years vs. a half-life of 10,000 with uranium
  • 8. IDENTIFYING THE EXECUTIVE & USER Executive • “Building a 1-gigawatt uranium plant today costs about $1.1 billion. Building a 1-gigawatt thorium plant will cost only about $250 million, or less, because meltdown concerns can be tossed out the window.” • Thorium reactors could become much more profitable than nuclear ever could have been. • Company image looks much better switching to an alternative source of energy User • Much cheaper power then current sources, can drop as low as 1 cent per kilowatt • No need to install any additional equipment, so no upfront cost for customer or leasing plan • Needs very little attendance

METHODS & TYPES OF BUYING Methods of Buying Quantity/Quality • Contract buying- We want to sells large quantities to cities and towns which would require a contract • Buying by tender- In competition with other forms of energy • Buying by Inspection- We will need to find a buyer that is willing to work with us and the product Types of Buying • Concentrated- Not a lot of thorium distributers/prospectors • Need to find and develop a relationship with a distributor or distributors
  • 11. FEAR, UNCERTAINTY & DOUBT • Fears-Initial start up costs and peoples willingness to give it a chance • Uncertainties- Public reaction, finding enough plants willing to change over • Doubts- Adoption of this energy process, and getting this idea off the ground
  • 12. BUNKER ADJUSTMENT FACTOR • Very little to no transportation costs • Thorium is relatively small, can be made into bundles of wire or sheets • Thorium is reusable
  • 13. MARKETING MIX • Product- Thorium which is an alternative energy form (intangible) • Price- Initially expensive but in the long term expenses will deplete • Placement- Initially summerset, but looking to prospect other plant locations • Promotion- Advertise eco-friendly, lower costs and safer all around
  • 14. PEOPLE & PACKAGING • Less employees because some of plant can run itself • Less security (theft) • Packaging's primary purpose is to show that we are eco-friendly and separate us from other competitors
