She has 20 years of experience mushing and has completed the Iditarod sled dog race 13 times, including getting second place in both the last two years. This year, Zirkle finished the 1000 mile race in 8 days, 13 hours, and 6 minutes, just two minutes behind the winner Dallas Seavey and with only 10 dogs, having lost 6 dogs over the course of the race.
