- 11. Conduits 11© Carbolite Gero The tube that connects the wires going from the control box of the product, to the actual product itself. Problem: • Conduits did exist, but was not well defined • Standard products only catered for 2m • Intention to add 2/6m functionality to all existing features

- 15. Project name given to a separate store for the common spare parts for Carbolite Gero’s Product range. Created to improve the lead time to the customers and provide a better customer service. How it’s improved: • Purchase parts had a lead time of 2 weeks • Manufactured parts had a lead time of 4-5 weeks • Improved it to 2-3 working days Warehouse 4 15© Carbolite Gero

A drilled hole in a specific side of a product for the cables to run from the product to any external application. • 3 standard sizes for cable ports (Ø) - 6mm, 36mm, 48mm • Standard positions on the products • Specific positions are based on customer request • By looking at drawings and Solid-Edge, have discovered which position products can have Initial investigation is complete. - What the end-user sees
- When we talked to the sales team, it was found that it was easier for them to understand and to configure them as specific products rather than family – eg. CWF-CWF1113 Example of integrated volume and diameter – MTF 10/15/130 Voltages – 208SN to 200V-208V Optional Accessories – disabled it, but can get back to it whenever Prices – Creates various matrices in configurator linking every product and its options with a 2015 price. 2016 came into play, although it was doable, it would have taken such a long time to change every price to match the new 2016 price book Prices – Actively decided that pricing is better handled in the business ERP system rather than configurator and so therefore we are relying on auto pricing
- Scope of the project changed by an outside influence which affected configurator Although it sounds easy, turns out there is a lot of plugs for different countries On top of all the complications that its based on different countries , it is also based on the product itself and also current rating Created BoM in Infor XA in the Live Environment with the help of supervision from others to satisfy plugs and leads in configurator
- Design Studios – Option Lists and also Matrices Option Lists is simply a list of options where you could make specific groups with and have a specific selection in that group Matrices is similar to how we have Excel but in Configurator Show list of options for different Plug types, show them being used in the matrices
- Conduits did exist but was not well defined - was mixed in both BoM’s and Options with incorrect components Standard products only catered for 2m in the Infor XA system– when several customers preferred 6m
- More defined conduits in configurator and also Infor XA – Can provide options of 6m for customers Specific Bills of Materials were devised and added to appropriate new options Picture – To identify where conduits was needed, I created an excel sheet to show the different configurations needed All relevant XA BoMs were adjusted or created to reflect the changes made in configurator All XA Features were amended so that when we went live, the options were de-activated and new generated numbers would add conduit components accurately – Providing a smooth change and also avoiding any disruptions OOPS: One thing the configurator did not take into account is the Lenton products when it came to conduits, so now all after the change in live, the BoM is slightly affected, but its nothing we cant handle.
- Created a series of SOPs and Guidelines Trained the sales team for ‘Go Live’ - went well using the system Since configurator was the preferred system, we received positive feedback from the sales team and so therefore I went from configuring the products to supporting and training other people
- Stock count as a final check to ensure the quantities were accurate
- Other Activities Re-cabling of IS Server Room (Once the cables started getting messy, it became difficult to maintain reliability which is why we had to re-cable the server room. The reason why the cables were so messy is because recently the office was re organised, and so the cables had to be adjusted and organised accordingly. Creating Network Cables Spent 2 Days in Test with Richard (Understanding how to configure the controllers manually) Spent time with senior electrical draughtsmen (got a brief understanding of what he does and the software he uses eg. Itools) Been around the labs with Tony Wire Layout: Yellow – Phones Blue – Servers Black – Computers Red – Uplinks (Linking network equipment e.g.. Switches and firewalls) Orange – CCTV Pink - Internet
