My Safety Moment
Hard Hat Required
On my first day at Crystal River, Chris and I were
walking down the inspection locations with scaffolding
contractors. On top of the boiler I ran into a steel beam and it
knocked my hard hat off and smacked my forehead. Lesson
learned to carefully plan out walking paths and to take your
time.
Responsibilities this Rotation
■ Analyzed
– Flow Accelerated Corrosion at Anclote 1 and 2
– Loading on Hanger Support System at Crystal River 4
– Inspection history to predict equipment lifespans
■ Attended
– Inspection Services All Regions Staff Meeting
– Hines Mechanical Equipment Reliability Meeting (MERM)
– Asset Configuration Tracker Level II Training
■ Designed
– Inspection drawings and submitted piping isometrics through ACT
■ Researched
– Structural Integrity HEP Webinar Series
Inspection Drawings Project - Intro
Inspection Drawings Project - Benefits
■ Improving skill set
– Applied previous drafting table experience
■ Man hours saved
– Help Lead Engineer save time for future
inspections
– Precise drawings will help the drafting
team save time during Configuration
Changes
■ Dollars saved
– Scaffolding and insulation costs are
reduced when you have accurate weld
positions
Inspection Drawings Project – Moving Forward
■ Plans to submit these drawings through ACT next fall so they can
be uploaded in fusion

Hanger Project - Benefits
■ Learned valuable information
– Helped build understanding of the
system prior to using modeling programs
■ Training
– Shadowed Steve Grace, Hanger SME,
for walk downs at Crystal River, Hines,
and Tiger Bay
■ Testing
– Verified hangers are operating safely
Hanger Project - Moving Forward
■ Next fall I will be modeling piping systems in AutoPIPE to plot
stresses to optimize inspection locations
