The design-build team presented two concept plans for the first phase of construction of the Eastern Market Metro Park project. The $5.9 million budget would allow either completing one entire parcel, like focusing on the new playground and splash pad in Parcel 1, or spreading funds across multiple areas. Community feedback on the designs was solicited. Next steps include a Commission of Fine Arts hearing in March and another community meeting in April to discuss the final concept design.

Massey, Annex and Page Ave. Buildings Demolition and Site Restoration Sept 2020Fairfax County
The project consisted of hazmat abatement and complete demolition of the Massey Building. The Annex Building and a residential structure at 10530 Page Ave. were also demolished. Waste materials were sorted and recycled. The site has been restored to a graded, grass covered, park-like condition.
The Suffolk Downs Urban Design Workshop is the third in an ongoing series of Urban Design Workshops organized by the BSA Foundation. The workshops’ overall goal is to open up dialogue and stimulate thinking about the design potential of places with particularly significant and compelling opportunities.
Suffolk Downs represents an opportunity to create a forward-looking 21st-century neighborhood that is equitable, diverse, environmentally aware, and in tune with shifting development trends.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Plan
33. The Design-Build Team has developed
two options for construction of phase one
based upon current funding levels.
Budget:
| $5.9 million in current phase for design,
permits and construction
Design + Permits:
| The master plan is being designed as “permit
ready” so that future funding can be utilized
immediately for construction.
Construction Strategy
Options:
| Complete one entire parcel, or…
| Spread the budget to complete different
areas across multiple parcels.
| In each scenario the remaining areas will stay
as-is until additional funds are available.
