Angular 12 is the latest upgrade to Google’s popular TypeScript-based web framework that arrived on 12th May 2021. It’s currently available as a production release, though. You can probably guess that it brought many new things to the table, as is the custom of the creators of Angular. Among all the enhancements, Angular 12 denounces the inheritance assemblage of View Engine and delivers pipelines for the more recent Ivy tech.
The Teton Project, an ongoing Open Architecture (OA) initiative at Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems (NGES), has adopted the new OMG "DDS for Lightweight CCM" (DDS4CCM) standard as the foundational real-time component framework technology for its Scalable Node Architecture (SNA). SNA is targeted at distributed, real-time, embedded (DRE) and high performance computing (HPC) applications and subsystem/system architectures. This presentation offers the Teton Project's perspective on the advantages of DDS4CCM, a.k.a. Component Based DDS (CBDDS), over a straight DDS-based architectural approach.

A session in the DevNet Zone at Cisco Live, Berlin. This session will walk participants through the Infinite Toolkit (Application Developer Kit) to show the features of the platform and how to use the open APIs to build TV applications. The session will cover an example of building part of an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) and some of the application work we have done with our Partners. The session will also show some ideas for other non-EPG applications that can be enabled via the Infinite Toolkit. Goal: To demonstrate the openness of the main SPVSS product to our customers, partners and other Cisco BUs. To open up discussions around future direction and integration of Infinite Solutions with other Cisco products and partner and customer systems. SPVSS Customers have a desire to get their TV applications available on a broad range of devices and to enable a high velocity of change. To do this at scale Cisco needs to enable them to either use a development partner or enable themselves to develop and integrate the TV applications. The Infinite Toolkit is the means to enable our customers to do this.

“Oh my goodness! What did I do?” Chances are you have heard, or even uttered this expression. This demo-oriented session will show many examples where database professionals were dumbfounded by their own mistakes, and could even bring back memories of your own early DBA days.
Businesses make critical decisions using key data assets, but stakeholders often find it difficult to navigate the complex data landscape to ensure they have the right data and understand it correctly. Companies are dealing with a number of different technologies, multiple data formats, and high data volumes, along with the requirements for data security and governance.

http://forms.embarcadero.com/Dealing-with-New-Datatypes
Data modeling is going back to the future! No, it doesn’t include a hoverboard (yet), but it does include some new datatypes that capture temporal and spatial information. In the past, datatypes were used to classify various types of data, whether integers, characters, or alphanumeric strings. With the technologies introduced in recent years, these basic datatypes can’t address everything – data modelers now need more specialized datatypes for specific needs and new formats.
Multiple database platforms have introduced new datatypes that can make it easier to support more advanced data concepts in physical data models. If you do not know about what new things are happening in the physical data modeling world, or what to do with them, Karen Lopez will discuss using a variety of new datatypes including:
•Temporal, such as period, with keywords
•Spatial, including geospatial
•Others, incorporating JSON/BSON/UBJSON usage

Data management teams face some tough challenges these days. Organizations need business-driven visibility that enables understanding and awareness of enterprise data assets – without worrying about definitions and change management. But with information architectures evolving, serving up accurately defined, reusable data can become a complex issue.
In this episode of The Briefing Room hosted by the Bloor Group, veteran analyst David Loshin explains the importance of agile, automated workflows in today’s enterprise data architectures. Ron Huizenga of Embarcadero discusses how the ER/Studio suite approaches data modeling and management from a modern architecture standpoint. He explains that unifying the way information is represented can not only eliminate the need for costly workarounds, but also foster collaboration between data architects, developers and business users.

Nearly 80% of performance issues appear to be related to the performance of storage. In reality, only about half of those are actual bottlenecks - frequently things like missing indexes, bad database design or misuse of features can either negatively impact the performance of the storage, or make it look like the root cause of the issue.
Join Microsoft MVP, Joseph D’Antoni and Embarcadero Director of Software Consultants, Scott Walz as they shed light on diagnosing your IO subsystem.
In this session, you will learn:
+ Where to look in SQL Server to gather information
+ How to use Windows Performance Monitor to analyze storage performance
+ What a "false positive" storage problem might look like
There are only so many times you can yell at the SAN admin, before they get cranky and start giving you 1GB drives, so attend this session and learn when the time is right.

Many DBAs may only know enough about data modeling to be dangerous. There are a number of challenges that DBAs face when trying to do data modeling, as well as some preconceived notions of what they think data modeling can (or can’t) do for them, such as generating useful DDL code.
This 90-minute session will provide specific insights and examples to show DBAs how a data modeling tool can help them improve database performance. Data modeling can simplify routine tasks and provide valuable context for a database implementation. Karen Lopez and John Sterrett will debunk seven dangerous myths that DBAs believe about data modeling, and also discuss and demonstrate:
+ Challenges DBAs encounter with data modeling
+ What data modeling really means and how it adds value
+ Why data modeling is key to successful agile projects
+ How data model-driven development saves time and money
+ Why data modeling should be done throughout the development lifecycle

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.

Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?
