3. FILTRATION:
Filtration is a physical separation
process that separates solid matter and fluid
from a mixture using filter medium has complex
structure through only fluid can pass. Solid
particles cannot pass through filter medium.
The porous medium used to filter the
solution is known as filter medium.

6. PLATE AND FRAME FILTER PRESS:
Principle:
This is based on the surface filtration. This
is simple type of pressure filter through the
filter medium.
The filtrate is collected on the plate and sent
to the outlet.
A number of frames and plates are used in
the surface increase and therefore large
volume of slurry can be treated with or without
washing.

7. Construction:
It contain plates and frame arrange to the
alternative and supporting on a pair of rails.
That is solid particles having a rough
surface and the plate containing a mountain.
The cloth filter medium is placed between
plate and frame. The filter cloth act as gasket,
plate, filter medium.
The plate and frame made of nickel,
rubber,aluminium,plastic and cast iron.

8. Working:
The working of plate and frame filter press
involve in the two steps 1. Filtration process
2.Washing process
FILTRATION PROCESS:
Slurry enters the frame from feed
channel.
Filtrate drains and escape from the outlet
in the plate leaving solid in from cake.
Frame become filled with filter cake
Water passses through inlet in washing
plate to cake and filter.

9. APPLICATION:
The plate and frame filter is widely used in
industry, pharmaceutical company, chemical
industry, waste water treatment.
Pharmaceutical Industry- enzymes, amino
acid, antibiotic, bulk drugs, organic
phosphorous.
At the same time filter press technology
suitable for ultra fine coal,dewatering as well as
filterate recover in aoal preparation in plants.

Principle:
The mechanism is surface filtration act as
vaccum can be applied increase the filtration
rate
Construction:
It contain of a frame which may be
circular, square and rectangular shape the
canal surrounded by frame.
The filterate outlet is attach to the frame
the unit is covered by filter cloth.

12. Working:
The inside of container contain slurry.
The vaccum is connected to outlet. The
slurry passed through the filter cloth.
The filterate enter the canal and passed
through the outlet.
The air is passed in the opposite direction
remove of cake.
Uses:
It is provide high filtration. It is highly
washable filtration.
