1. Eat breakfast - If you skip breakfast, you will not be at your best during the morning. You will more likely gorge yourself at lunch and have a sleepy afternoon. So eat something, anything (within reason) so you can ensure a smooth start.
2. Get plenty of sunshine - Sun in the morning signals the body and mind to wake up. So instead of reaching for a big cup of Joe, put on your shoes and go outside.
3. Get Aerobic Exercise - while you are getting your sunlight, use it as an excuse to get a good walk or jog in. Exercise lowers stress, gets your blood moving and wakes you up.
4. Avoid RSS, EMAIL or phone before 10 am. RSS, email and phone demand immediate attention. Whereas your goals and work for the day can easily be brushed to the side. If you can avoid the urgent and unimportant until 10 or 10:30, you have a fighting chance at getting all of the important tasks done.
5. Think positive thoughts not negative - Seems simple, but many people never do it. Instead of looking on the worst side, try to see the bright side. Ask yourself “what is the advantage of this situation?” “How am I benefitting from this? What am I learning?” These are all good questions that you can ask in all negative situations to turn them to the positive.
6. Take breaks - If you push on one task for too long you your work starts to suffer. It’s easy to become tired and frustrated. Therefore, every 30 - 45 minutes, take 5. Get up from your desk, stop what you are doing and get your mind off your work for a while. You will find you will return with more ideas and renewed energy.
7. Go for a mid-day walk - again, I am harping on the exercise. Getting a brisk walk in over lunch (even if for only 10 minutes) will get you to feeling better about your afternoon. Where most others are sitting around digesting, you can be energizing.

Time is never on your side, but that shouldn’t stop you from making more with less, that way you can choose how you want to spend your time rather than be in a position where you have to do something, which is not good as an entrepreneur.
Tip 1.
Do something where you are not paid for your time.
People get caught up in the concept of an hourly rate, this is a way to try and commoditise you but this is a very silly way to buy or sell. For example what I can do in an hour is very different to what other people can do, in an hour of my time on marketing or entrepreneurial strategy I can deliver serious value but in other areas I’m just not, “a good fit’ for example DIY, yes I can do it and if I have to I’m neat and tidy, but I’m not fast and so my productivity is low. By the way I don’t enjoy DIY so don’t even ask, in fact a good friend of mine who’s an electrician jokes that I try and fix everything with a hammer which is not far from the truth in some circumstances.
Do what you do well and put a value on the job, not the hours, this way you can work less and earn more.
Tip 2.
Don’t tray and do too much
People make the mistake of getting organised by using a list, which is on a basic level fine, but when the list gets long the chances are it will actually slow you down and cause you to procrastinate. I find the best possible way to manage things is to set out a “To Do List” of no more than three things at a time and base these things on what I can deliver on fast, then create a new list.
Now I get that it’s not always this straight forward but you will be surprise that if you use a simple, list of only 3 things and block out as many other distractions until they are done, like email and phone calls, then you really do much more in less time and this means you work less and earn more.
Tip 3.
Stop focusing success and start defining desired outcomes
If you set yourself a goal or specific set of criteria that define success or failure then you are likely to get frustrated and disheartened from time to time. What I like to do is set a desired outcome and look at small results as I move towards that outcome, let me give you and example relative to working less and earning more.
If you have a customer and they have an expectation based goals or a specific set of success criteria it will be hard to measure the true value of something, for example if you set out a budget for Facebook Ads and your goal is 1,000 new leads in the next 7 days then this is good in so much as you have metrics and a deadline, but it’s far from serving your customer well.

5. TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
8. IF IT’S SOMETHING OUT OF YOUR CONTROL, HOW CAN YOU MAKE IT WITHIN YOUR
CONTROL? IN THIS EXAMPLE, TARGETING YOUR POSTS VIA PAID SEARCH IS
PROBABLY THE ANSWER.
THE KEY HERE IS MEASUREMENT. ANY MARKETING THAT IS CARRIED OUT SHOULD BE

Possibly our favourite tip for marketing time management is just getting rid of things that
don’t work. If you’re spending half your day on organic social media posts that just aren’t
being seen, no matter how well you word them, or how many opportunities there are for
people to engage with them, stop. Ask yourself, “how could I make this better and what is
stopping it from working?”
6. DON’T SPEND TIME ON THINGS
THAT DON’T WORK
9. This one may seem pretty obvious, but people will consistently leave tasks until
the last minute. If you’ve asked for a client to sign off a press release before
sending it out, leaving this until 5.30pm on a Friday could mean that it’s no
longer of relevance the following week. Similarly, you might not be available last
minute to do the sending.
THE POINT HERE IS WHETHER YOU’RE DELIVERING A SERVICE, OR PAYING
FOR ONE, DON’T HINDER YOUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS BY NOT
PRIORITISING WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO THAT DAY BY WHETHER OR NOT
YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT. LOOK AT DEADLINES AND PRIORITISE BY
THOSE TIMINGS AS WELL AS YOUR OWN, OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT MISS
OUT ON OPPORTUNITIES AND FUTURE WORK.
7. PRIORITISE TASKS
10. We’re pretty sure that every marketer can relate to just saying “yes, no problem” at
least once when they’ve been asked to do something they know that, deep down,
isn’t the best use of their time.
We do this to keep the peace or to show willing, but it really is so important to
instead say “no”.
OF COURSE THIS MUST BE DONE IN A DIPLOMATIC WAY. OR YOU CAN
INVESTIGATE WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE TO UNDERSTAND IF WHAT’S
BEEN ASKED OF YOU IS THE BEST WAY TO ACHIEVE IT.
SPENDING LOTS OF TIME ON THINGS THAT DON’T WORK WILL ULTIMATELY
REFLECT BADLY ON YOU. YOU’RE THE ONE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING
RESULTS SO BY NOT SAYING NO TO THINGS THAT DON’T WORK YOU’RE NOT
LEAVING YOURSELF TIME TO FOCUS ON THE THINGS THAT DO.
8. SAY NO…
11. Some people are super productive in the mornings. If there is an important task that
you’re just not getting time to do set your alarm a little bit earlier and get up at 6.30am.
Chances are that you won’t even look at your emails. Distractions can at least wait
until 7.30/8.00am when people will be in the office.
We’re not saying you have to be an early bird, but instead you should leave yourself
logged out of emails whilst you’re getting something important done. If you have an
hour to write a blog then what harm will logging out of your emails for an hour do?
YOU’VE PROBABLY HEARD OF SETTING SPECIFIC TIMES OF THE DAY TO LOOK AT YOUR
EMAILS, BUT IT SERIOUSLY WORKS. ONCE IN THE MORNING, ONCE AFTER LUNCH AND ONCE
AT THE END OF THE DAY SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR MOST PEOPLE. IF THERE’S ANYTHING
URGENT THERE IS STILL SUCH A THING AS A TELEPHONE.
9. DON’T GET WRAPPED UP IN EMAILS
12. THIS NOT ONLY HELPS TO SHOW YOU HOW LONG THINGS TRULY TAKE TO
COMPLETE (GOING BACK TO TRACKING YOUR TIME FOR FUTURE PLANNING),
BUT IT SETS YOU A SCHEDULE TO STICK BY.
WITHOUT TIME BLOCKING IT’S FAR TOO EASY TO GET CAUGHT UP IN A TASK
THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN AN HOUR, BUT WHICH ENDED UP TAKING YOUR
FULL MORNING. TIME FLIES WHEN YOU’RE HAVING FUN!
We spoke about prioritisation earlier and one of our best tips to make sure that you
stick to priorities is by time blocking. If you have five things to get done on a set day,
block out times in your calendar or diary to say how long you have for each.
10. BLOCK OUT TIME
TO GET TASKS DONE
13. Meetings are not the enemy, but they can really suck the time out of your day. The best way
to ensure that you’re not spending ten times longer talking about doing things than it would
have taken to actually do them is to set an agenda for every meeting and stick to it.
For example, set yourself an hour for a meeting and allot fifteen minutes to the four things
that need to be discussed. If you’re approaching the end of that time, request that a decision
be made so that you can move on.
EVEN IF YOU’RE HALF THIS REGIMENTED MEETINGS WILL BE FAR MORE
PRODUCTIVE AND IT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM TAKING UP YOUR
VALUABLE TIME WITH PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO CHAT (PROBABLY
BECAUSE THEY’VE NOT HAD A TWENTY MINUTE BREAK YET!).
