This document outlines a lesson plan introducing students to the seven elements of art. Students will research different artworks demonstrating elements of art, choose three to present on, and write a one page reflection. They will give an oral presentation using a slideshow to define the element(s) of art in their chosen works. The goal is for students to gain an understanding of aesthetic qualities in art and be able to use appropriate vocabulary to describe and analyze works of art. Resources and rubrics are provided to guide students' research, presentations, and assessment of their knowledge of elements of art.
2. Lesson Objective:
Students will gain understanding of the seven Elements of Art. This is an an
introduction to the aesthetic qualities of works of art. Students will be able to
use the vocabulary in describing art of their own or other pieces. Students will
do research, present, and write a reflection paper on the aesthetic impact of
one of the many combinations of the Elements of Art on a work of artwork.
Students will use the Internet to find samples and examples of art works to
enhance their assignment..

3. Process:
Teacher will post examples of works of art that demonstrates the Elements of Art in Google
Classroom.
Students will then do individual research online to find works of Art that appeals to the elements of
art.
. Students will then choose different works of art; it can be from the same artist as long as it is from a
different time of his/her career that demonstrates an aesthetic experience.
Students will have to define the Element(s) of Art on the artwork in the oral presentation. Check out

Students will also provide a slide show to serve as visual reference to the class. The presentation is
minimum three minutes long maximum of five minutes.
Students will take questions from classmates, if any, to answer or discover information covered.
Students will turn in a typed one page reflection on their activity through Google Docs prior to the
presentation

5. Task
Minimum three works of art, each work of art must have all items below to
receive full points)
Student will choose images that demonstrates understanding of Elements of
Art.
Student will then make a slide of chosen work, please include the Artist, title
and date on the image ex. Jackson Pollock, Autumn Rhythm #30 1950
In the one page-reflection paper student will write about the experience going
on a virtual museum tour and the reasons works of art were chosen.
Students have four days to complete and present assignment for grading

8. Conclusion
This assignment hopefully provided useful
information on how to view art through a research
