Electric Daisy carnival (EDC)
1.
2. • Electric Daisy Carnival, commonly known as EDC, is the largest
electronic dance music festival in North America. The annual
flagship event is now held in May, at the Las Vegas Motor
Speedway and Orlando.
• The event primarily features electronic dance producers and
DJs, such as Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Diplo, Alesso,
Dillon Francis, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Afrojack, Seven Lions,
NGHTMRE, Yellow Claw, and Tiësto. The festival incorporates a
variety of electronic music, including house, techno, drum and
bass, and dubstep. Sponsors of the most recent EDC events
include Corona, Smirnoff, Uber and Tinder.
Introduction
3. • EDC was created with the purpose of utilizing music and art to inspire individuals. In addition to the music, individuals experience
three-dimensional superstructures, colorful glow-in-the-dark environments, and LED-infused flora and fauna. Part of the
experience are the interactive art installations scattered throughout EDC, the various carnival performers that walk around the
crowds, and a variety of both thrilling and relaxing carnival rides. The goal is ultimately for EDC to be a place where people can
connect, on and off the dance floor.
• Since its inception, other EDC events have been held in other states and abroad, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, the UK, Brazil,
Japan and India. Currently, EDC is held annually in Orlando, China, and Mexico, along with the main Las Vegas event.
• EDC Las Vegas returned to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for May 17–19, 2019. On the second day, high winds forced stage
closures. Due to wording of the message displayed and the audio message played "take cover in your car" at one of the closed
stages some of the attendees believed the entire festival was being shut down for the night and left the speedway. Upon learning
at the exit that only certain areas were closed for safety precautions some people tried to re-enter the grounds but were not
allowed back in due to the event's strict no-reentry policy. Las Vegas police announced 65 arrests during the festival, including 2
DUIs and 51 felony or gross misdemeanor arrests.
• EDC Mexico in Mexico City returned to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for February 23–24, 2019.
• EDC Orlando is now held for 3 days, instead of the normal 2 days. It will remain at Tinker Field, outside of Camping World
Stadium.
• EDC Japan was held in Tokyo, May 11 & 12, 2019 at ZOZO Marine Stadium & Makuhari Beach Park.
4. History
In 2009, EDC became a two-day event, and in 2011, a three-day event that drew 230,000 people. In 2015, it drew more
than 400,000 over three days (134,000 per day). In 2018, EDC Las Vegas expanded the festival to include an on-site
camping experience. Recent iterations of the festival have featured eight stages, each with a unique set and specific genre
of EDM. 18 carnival rides, four ferris wheels, and a staff of more than 5,000 people make up the event at the Las Vegas
Motor Speedway. In 2019 access to purchasing tickets to EDC was expanded to mobile phone apps for convenience.
The first Electric Daisy Carnival was held in 1991 and was first organized by Stephen Hauptfuhr. Philip Blaine-- Pasquale's
partner -- made the deal to grant use of the name Electric Daisy Carnival in 1995 to Pasqualle Rotella CEO of Insomniac
Events.
Insomniac debuted their signature event, Electric Daisy Carnival, in 1997 at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles,
California. In the early years, several southern California venues played host to the annual electronic music festival: Los
Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park in Los Angeles, National Orange Show Events Center in San
Bernardino, Queen Mary Events Park in Long Beach, Lake Dolores Waterpark in Barstow, Hansen Dam in Lake View
Terrace, and the International Agri-Center in Tulare.
5. Charity
For every flagship festival held, Insomniac Care donates a percentage of ticket sales to national charities and community
organizations. In the past, EDC Las Vegas has partnered with Surreal, a fundraising platform, to raise money from festival
goers who enter in a sweepstake for helicopter rides and other activities with popular DJs. Since 2011, over two million
dollars have been donated to groups. Some organizations are named below.
Rock the Vote
Families for Effective Autism Treatment
Injured Police Officers Fund
Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada
Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation
The Las Vegas Academy for Arts

The theme we tend to mentioned up higher

8. Marketing Aspects
• Promotion
Insomniac is an American electronic music event promoter. Founded by Pasquale Rotella, it is best-known as the organizer of the electronic music
festival Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC).
Alongside EDC, Insomniac runs the electronic music events Beyond Wonderland and Nocturnal Wonderland, as well as drum and bass and dubstep-
oriented events under the brand Bassrush, hardstyle events under the brand Basscon, and trance events under the brand Dreamstate. Insomniac is also
involved in the operation of three Los Angeles nightclubs—Create (in partnership with SBE, built on the site of the former Vanguard Hollywood),
Exchange L.A. and the underground warehouse Factory 93, located at 1756 Naud Street.
By contrast to other promoters, Insomniac places a larger emphasis on fan experiences during its events, as opposed to focusing on profits and ticket
sales, and that "our strength lies in the movement. It’s a culture. It’s powerful. It’s always been about the people that attend. It changes people’s lives.”
Rotella has contended that music festivals do not require "big acts who sell out arenas", going as far as to praising Burning Man for being an "event by
the people for the people" where "the organizers just provide an open space" and "people go all out."
In June 2013, Insomniac announced a number of partnerships; including one with Dick Clark Productions to produce a dance music awards show, and a
major "creative partnership" with Live Nation that would allow Insomniac to take advantage of Live Nation's resources, while still retaining autonomy and
creative control over its events. While specifics of the deal were not revealed, Rotella emphasized that the deal was not an acquisition, as had been
speculated. Since 1993, Insomniac has produced over 2,000 festivals attended by over 5 Million people.
9. • Branding
The logo, font, colours and mascot of your brand (if you have one) need to play a role in the design of your venue. The Night Owl (insomniac, up all night,
owl-get it?) is the insomniac's sign, and festival goers see it all over the place. The emblem is the Night Owl Radio brand's audio service namesake. EDC
uses an immediately identifiable "EDC" style package, along with owls.
Now, you do not have to create an alphabet of your own, although that would be enormously impressive. But to make the room yours, you must use the
logo and colours of your brand in your venue. From the menus to the uniforms of your staff (even if they only consist of a shirt or hat) to your glassware
and signs, your visitors should be inundated with the identifiers of your company both openly and subtly.
10. • Entertainment
In a good world your workers is thus participating that their mere presence and snippets of casual speech communication can keep your guests pleased
endlessly. Your music and also theme and the crowd you attract, conjointly in a perfect state of affairs, can hold your guests’ attention and keep them at
your bar, ordering drinks and food with no set up of effort before last decision. Well, we have a tendency to sleep in associate imperfect world and that we
serve those that carry distractions around in their pockets or purses; phones will snap even the foremost engaged guest out of the fact the fact you've got
designed.

11. • Transportation
One of the advantages of living within the technology era is that the advent of the ride-hailing app. This has evidenced to be a boon for bar,
cabaret and building operators. Not solely will this mean tech-savvy guests will perpetually realize a ride to your bar, however ride also-
hailing helps operators keep their guests, roadways and communities safe. rather like EDC Las Vegas and alternative Insomniac events,
you'll be able to partner with and encourage your guests to use Lyft and Uber. must you have the area, you'll be able to even designate
Lyft/Uber pick-up and drop-off areas to form things easier for your guests. Guest and community safety must always be among your core
values and inspiring – presumably even rewardful – guests to use ride-sharing apps ties into your electronic communication.
Overall, bear in mind that festivals are a part of our welcome business family. These massive event firms will learn from USA and that we will
learn from them. Festivals draw thousands of tourists and their bucks to cities and cities wherever we have a tendency to operate, and with a
touch artistic business thinking we are able to take pleasure in their presence and therefore the excitement they generate. In fact, Insomniac
are creating an enormous announcement concerning EDC on Wednesday, Sep half dozen, therefore keep your eyes in the altogether.
12. • Targeting Segments
Once the goals and objectives are clear, defining the exact audience for the event helps with the reach of the event. It is important to think about the significance of the
event and what demographic would fit most appropriately. Identifying the target market includes categorizing demographics, interests, and social behaviours. Focus on
what, when, and how consumers use social media and what words, or phrases are most popularly used. The target market is one of the most important factors when
creating a marketing campaign for an event.
Luckily music is a biggest advantage when it comes to targeting in festivals like this because music attracts all kind of audience from all factors and distributions same
is in edc but it got advantage because they have rides and everything available which is even more attractive and luring to audience. So, it targets all segment people.
13. Budgetary Aspects
According to a comprehensive data study released by Beacon Economics, LLC, EDC has generated a staggering $1.3 billion for the local economy and has attracted more
than 1.7 million fans to Las Vegas since its debut in Sin City in 2011. As North America’s largest dance music festival, EDC Las Vegas boosted the Clark County economy by
$350.3 million in 2015 alone, with over 405,000 attendees across three days (June 19–21). Additionally, the report disclosed that EDC Las Vegas 2015 created $141.3 million
in increased labor income for Clark County workers, as well as 3,270 full-time jobs.
“It is incredible that in just five years, our Headliners have helped us generate more than $1.3 billion back to Las Vegas, a place I call home,” says Insomniac CEO and
Founder Pasquale Rotella. “I’m so grateful that I can do what I love while making a positive impact in the community.” Now let’s compare some figures:
The total five-year (2011–2015) economic impact of EDC Las Vegas is equal to the average daily gross domestic product (GDP) of New Jersey, according to data provided by
the US Department of Commerce.
The 2015 festival produced $21.9 million in state and local tax revenue, which is comparable to employing 292 full-time fire and rescue staff with a $75,000 annual salary.
In 2015, attendees’ direct spending amounted to $168.3 million, bringing the total attendee spending impact over five years to $1 billion, which is the cost of approximately
10,000 Model S Tesla cars.
Over EDC Las Vegas’ five-year history, the festival has generated $81.4 million in state and local taxes, which could fund 1,055 full-ride tuitions for University of Nevada, Las
Vegas undergraduate students.
“Each year, EDC brings in hundreds of thousands of visitors to Las Vegas, including many who didn’t have a ticket to the festival but wanted to experience the destination
during EDC Week,” says Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak. “From EDC to the overall entertainment appeal of Las Vegas, EDC Week gives these visitors an
experience that only this town can offer.”

15. Feedback and Testimonials
• EDC Las Vegas can easily be described as the biggest party ever. EDC takes over 90% of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for three days and doesn’t
stop all night long. It’s truly its own world. EDC 2019 brought some surprises – such as low temperatures, fierce winds, and some stage closures – but
it was overall one of the best times of my life.
• Crowds were surprised with low temperatures and wind that almost swept us off our feet, but in true EDC fashion, we made the best of it and still had
a beautiful weekend. The speedway saw around 450,000 Headliners over the course of the weekend, making it the biggest electronic music festival in
the United States.
• The only hiccup of the weekend was the closing of Kinetic Field and Quantum Valley on Saturday night due to high winds. But, after a couple of hours,
headliners were let back into the festival to enjoy the rest of the night.
16. • Surprise guest and speculation
There was a lot of speculation, but it was finally revealed the Skrillex was the surprise guest at Circuit Grounds Saturday night. The crowd was packed
but worth it in order to see this once-in-a-lifetime set. Skrillex graces the crowd with a variety of his music as well as teasing some new stuff coming in the
future.
Now, I'm usually a bass fan but I did push myself to go to a couple of sets I normally wouldn't. I checked out Charlotte de Witte at Neon Garden and San
Holo at Kinetic Field. San Holo's set really brought the magic of EDC alive for me and made me really cherish that I was there. The beautiful stage and
the good vibes that come with San Holo had me feeling some kind of way. Not to mention, Charlotte de Witte is a techno goddess and was probably the
best introduction to Neon Garden that I could have had.
All in all, EDC does an amazing Job of making sure there is something for everyone. From bass to techno to hardstyle, no matter what genre of EDM you
love, EDC had a packed weekend for you.
17. • Things to know when going to EDC Las Vegas:
If you're not going to drive or Uber to the speedway, I 100% suggest getting a premium shuttle pass. No lines, air-conditioned bathrooms outside of the
festival and gifts! Definitely worth it.
Pack for all weather. The cold was something I was not prepared for and thank goodness the Merch booths had some long sleeve t-shirts. This is the desert
and that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be hot. Come prepared for everything
Pace yourself! Yes, there is something going on at every moment at EDC, but to make the most of the festival, take breaks. There are plenty of places to sit
and still catch the sets you want to see. Get some food and water in you and take a break for 15 minutes. It will help you get through not only the night but
the whole weekend!
In conclusion, EDC is a place like no other. Every festival truly has its own vibe and magic and Insomniac Events has it down to a science. From the golf
carts that were transformed into their own little mobile parties to the art installations, I suggest that everyone experiences EDC at least once in their life. The
electric sky is a beautiful place and I can't wait to go back.
