What is JING?

is a screen capture application

allows user to capture images
and videos from your desktop

and automatically uploads it to
an account at Screencast.com

Screencast.com ?

is a hosting service where
images and videos

created with Jing are uploaded
on the internet.

the “screencast” file can be
shared easily and quickly

Let us start

Click on your favorite browser

type
www.techsmith.com/jing.html

this website will appear

click on Free Download

download options will appear

click on your preferred version

download the file in your
computer

click Save

this will appear

downloading is now starting

wait for the download to finish

when finished, click open

Click Run

Click OK

wait…

check I have read and accept
the license terms.

click Install

Installation in progress

click Finish

click OK

your computer will restart…

after restarting, this will appear

check I accept the fine print

check Install

wait…

click Finish

the Jing tutorial will appear

just a side note, this is the
history button

history button will show copies
of your previous captures

More options on this button

more options allows you to
alter Jing settings

check the indicator lines
as you click and drag

only the highlighted part
will be captured

these are the undo and redo
buttons

rename your file
or use the default name

You are ready to share your file

this is the traditional Save
process

Click Save

choose the location in your
computer

Click Save

Click Open the file

this is your capture image viewed
withWindows PhotoViewer

Click here to copy the image

paste the image into
a document, email, etc

to paste,

press CTRL +V simultaneously

inside your document

or

right click your mouse
inside your document

and select Paste from the
dropdown menu

to share it via screencast.com

the file is being uploaded

copy this link

paste the link in your email,
documents or online
conversation

when the link is clicked,

the exact image you captured
will be shown!

CapturingVideo via Jing

Jing can be use to capture short
videos

maximum length captured
is 5 minutes

to capture video,

click on the capture button

select the area on your screen
to capture

click here

a countdown will begin

after 3 seconds,
recording will begin

Click here to stop recording

Click here to pause or resume
recording

Click here to mute
or unmute sound

Click here to reset

Click here to cancel

this is your timeline

click STOP when done
recording

a preview of your video will
appear

Click the arrow
to preview your video

you can rename the file
to something descriptive
of the video

click here to save the video in
your computer

the file will be saved in
SWF format

SWF = Small Web Format

click here to share video via
screencast

click here to cancel
the recording

Jing History

Jing History contains
your previous captured
videos and images

you can browse these captures
to share again

click History button

a list of your previous captures
will appear

hover your mouse on the file

a short information about the
file will be shown

select a file by clicking on it

this is the file name

this is the file size

View option will open the file in
the Jing Preview Window

it will also allow you
to edit the image

and rename the file and save it

click here to delete the file
from History
