University Libraries holds over 2.1 million volumes and provides access to over 20,000 electronic journals. The west wing of Ekstrom Library is open 24 hours a day throughout fall and spring semesters for studying. Special Collections contains rare items like the original Louisville city charter signed by Thomas Jefferson and over 1 million photographs of Louisville and Kentucky. Research assistance is available through one-on-one Research Advisory Program sessions. The University Archives holds over 11,000 linear feet of university records and personal papers.
