The story
Bob has a job interview with Justine, the manager of the Plaza Hotel.
Language Practice - Answering hypothetical questions
In lesson 26, Justine asks a hypothetical question. Below are some more examples of such questions and sample
responses. Read them out loud.
A: Would you compromise your own safety for the comfort of your guests?
B: I would make sure I know the health and safety requirements associated with my position and follow hotel
procedures.
A: What would you do if one of our guests was very upset?
B: I would try and find out why the guest was upset and offer my help to calm them down.
A: What would you do if there was a fire in the hotel?
B: I would report the fire and follow the hotel evacuation procedure to ensure that all the guests were safe.
