1. EFFECTIVE BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages. However communication is
effective only when the message is understood and when it stimulates action or encourages the
receiver to think in new ways.
Whatever industry we work in, talk of communication or more importantly a lack of
communication is never far away from the mouths management and workers. Communication
takes many forms from face to face to more advanced methods like modern mobile and cell
phone technology. The key to successful communication within many businesses is having a
good mix of communication methods including team briefings and meetings, e-mails,
teleconferencing and more.
Effective communication has more parts. Those are,

2. Listening
3. Enhanced professional image
4. Clearer promotion material
5. Stronger business relationship
6. Increased productivity
7. Stronger decision making
In an organization there communicators should develop those qualities. Then they can
become a successful in the modern competitive business environment.
Effective business communication is essential for a modern business organization to be
successful. The essentials of business communications are,
1. Business communication should be courteous, polite and considerate behavior is essence
of business communication.
2. Every business communication, whether written or oral, should be logically structured.
3. Business communication should be articulate and concise.
4. Business communication should be influencing and persuasive.
5. A positive body language should be used.
6. Feedback is an integral component of business communication.
7. The facts in business communication should be recent and not outdated.
2. Those are essentials of the business communication. A business organization can following this
essentials, they can be a very competitive business organization.
Also there are more barriers to effective communication. An effective communication barrier is
one of the problems faced by many organizations. Many social scientists opine that there is 50%-
70% loss of meaning while conveying the message from a sender to a receiver. They estimate
there are four basic places where communication could cense road blocks in our professional and
personal life and it could be one of major hurdles in achieving our professional goals. Those are,
a) Physical barriers
b) Language
c) Emotions
d) Stress
e) Lack of subject knowledge
PHYSICAL BARRIERS- One of the major barriers of communication in a workplace is
the physical barriers. Physical barriers in an organization include large working areas that
are physically separated from others. Other distractions that could cense a physical
barrier in an organization are the environment, background noise.
LANGUAGE-Inability to converse in a language that is knew by both sender and
receiver is the greatest barrier to effective communication. When a person uses
inappropriate words while conversing or writing, it could lead to misunderstanding
between the sender and a receiver.
EMOTIONS-Our emotions could be a barrier to communication if we are engrossed in
our emotions for some reason. In such cases, we tend to have trouble listening to others
or understanding the message conveyed to us. A few of the emotional interferences
include hostility, anger, resentfulness and fear.
LACK OF SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE-If a person who sends a message lacks subject
knowledge then he may not be able to convey his message clearly. The receiver could
misunderstand his message, and this could lead to a barrier to effective communication.
STRESS-One of the major communication barriers faced by employees in most of
organization is stress. When a person is under immense stress, he may find it difficult to
understand the message, leading to communication distortion.
3. The above mentioned barriers to effective communication are considered as filters of
communications. We can overcome the barriers to communication through effective and active
listening. And also mention about these things.
In present business environment is very competitive. So organization should mention about this
environment. Organization also thinks about internal and external environments. For many
businesses, the interface between the internal& external environments is of great importance.
They should mention about that. If they mention about that, they can be a successful competitor.
What ever effective business communication is essential for a modern business organization to
be successful in the modern competitive business environment.
