Something is in the air....
Local schools Rangitoto College and Orewa College have
recently been in the media fueling the debate about 1:1 and
BYOD policy.

With the emergence of personal digital devices ( smart
phones, ipads ) the growth in social media and the enthusiasm
being shown by our staff making use of these technologies,
Pinehill is well placed to take the next steps in digital learning.

Our Thinking...

If we are to do the best job of educating OUR children for the
future they will live in we need to change what we do in schools.

The NZ curriculum already empowers schools to do this through
the KEY COMPETENCIES.

The competencies are already part of our Pinehill Learning
Journey

Your children are already benefitting from the forward looking
approaches here at Pinehill
Our Thinking ....
Make use of the latest technologies

Allow children to use the technology as part of their learning

Explore ways of children being able to use their own devices

Up skill teachers to maximise the impact of the technology

Engage you as parents more actively in your child’s learning

Actively teach the skills your child needs to function in a digital
world

Actively promote good digital citizenship
So what you might ask?
The price of procrastination

Our children are digital natives, this is their life and we risk
losing their engagement in education unless we respond to the
digital challenge.

At Pinehill we are well positioned to make this move with a well
developed infrastructure and enthusiastic staff. We need to use
OUR advantage.
The benefits

Engaged learners

Improved learning outcomes

Upskilled staff

A more engaged parent body

Provision of critical life skills to allow our children to function in
a digital world
