Air pollution negatively impacts vegetation in several ways. Increased levels of pollutants like sulfur dioxide and ozone can cause leaf drop or abscission in plants as well as decrease their growth rate and yield. Long-term exposure to air pollution may also make plants more susceptible to diseases and insect attacks.
